Since everything was closed on my birthday, i had to celebrate on a different day. I was blessed enough to get a reservation for one of the hottest restaurants in town. The Oak House, is located in Mount Laurel is definitely worth the drive. You must make a reservation or get there when they open because they fill up fast. When we arrived, we were seated instantly. Our server Eden, greeted us and gave us a great description of the restaurant, the menu and what we should try. We started with the pork belly with grits. This could be a small plate entree. It was filled with so many different flavors and the grits were so smooth and creamy. With this being an appetizer, i knew the night was going to be great. Our entrees were the salmon Oscar and the pork chop. The salmon Oscar was a delicate piece of fish with fingerling potatoes under with a lump crab meat sauce on top. What a combination! The asparagus was also cooked to perfection and had just enough crisp to complement the dish. The pork chop, the pork chop, is a piece of heaven meat! You can definitely taste that Chef Oliver didn't just open up the fridge and threw it on the grill. It has a smoky and spicy taste at the same time. The juice that is poured over it, takes it over the top. It is so tender and it cuts effortlessly.the sweet potato medley under it was like having an all star teammate. The sweet potatoes and apples were cooked so that they just tender enough not to be mushy and they just made the dish THE BEST PORK CHOP IN BIRMINGHAM! The Mac & cheese was so creamy and delicious. The noodles were cooked perfectly and cheese sauce has so many different flavors. We both ate all of that! Everything here is made fresh daily and in house. Even the pecan mixture in my old fashion drink is made daily by the best bartender in town. Our desserts were the key lime pie and the bread pudding.we had to fight to get these down but it was so good going down. They both were homemade and met all of our expectations. This is a place that you must put on your radar! Expect a true dining experience when you come to The Oak House. Amazing food and service! Everything was fresh and tasted great. Our server David was really nice and offered recommendations for cocktails as well as entrees. I would definitely request him again when I return. We started with the New Orleans BBQ shrimp it was delicious. Perhaps the best that I've had. For my entree, I went with the Salmon Oscar since they were out of the Chicken Piccata and it was bursting with flavor and cooked perfectly. My friend order the Fillet with scalloped potatoes and it was also seasoned well and cooked to perfection. I ended my meal with a Espresso Martini it was also delicious. Went to Oak House for the first time last weekend and it was delicious! We got crab claws in a white wine butter sauce for an appetizer (it was a special) with grilled bread, and they were the best crab claws I've ever had! We saved the sauce to put in our steak and potatoes! Not overly rich. I got the 8oz fillet and scalloped potatoes for my entree, and my husband got the ribeye with scalloped potatoes. Fillet was melt in your mouth and the potatoes were exactly what they should be- creamy with lots of potato layers! White chocolate bread pudding for dessert for me and the key lime pie for my husband. Both very very good. Will definitely be back! read more

Wife and I finally tried this place, and now we are mad at ourselves for taking three years. Big mistake. I have nothing but gushing reports on all fronts. The entire experience was perfect from the moment we walked in to the moment we had to leave. Tristan was our server. He's been there from the jump and it shows. He loves his job. Who wouldn't? It is a beautiful place, and he can recommend the entire menu with confidence. He's great at his job. Knows all the things. Just great vibes. Wife had a tropical cocktail, beach chair maybe. I had the pecan syrup old fashioned.....house made pecan syrup. DAMN!!!! Pork belly app let us know that chef don't play. After a couple bites, my wife said, "I'm shook." I understood. It's weird to be on the planet 50 years and taste something like never before. It's that good. Everything after that was equally impressive. We had the gumbo, the short rib, the redfish, and the bread pudding. It was the best restaurant experience of my life. Sorry to be so dramatic. This place is doing all the things right. It's not cheap, but after tasting the appetizer I stopped worrying about the price. It's worth every penny. This place receives a lot of hype and it's not undeserved but I was slightly underwhelmed based on the hype. The bread was delicious and I'd recommend getting it. The pork belly which had been recommended highly in my taste opinion had way too much sauce on it to taste anything else, but the grits it came on were tasty. I ordered a Caesar salad as well, and while I know it happens, I was disappointed to find much of the lettuce edges browning. Flavor in the dressing was really good though. The filet was good, the cook on it was perfect and I would definitely recommend it. Espresso martini eas also excellent, props to the bartenders. Overall it was a pleasant dining experience even if I am not a fan of small two top tables it just was slightly missed my expectations based on the previous hype and reviews. I discovered Oak House through Chase Dining, and at first disregarded it due to its location. We don't live anywhere near Mt Laurel and Mt Laurel isn't on the way to anywhere we would be going. However, on a recent trip out to Cat & Bird, we figured why not give it a try. We had a great experience Dining at Oak House and highly recommend it. Between the two of us, we had the stuffed mushrooms, the steak and scalloped potatoes, and tuna poké. Old fashioned and French 75 were yummy, while the lavender cocktail was really bad. I probably could have asked our server for a different drink but by the time we had sipped and stirred and sipped again to see if it had gotten any better, we were a third of the way into it. Service was good. We were expecting a little nicer of a location (it's in a strip mall) given the price point, but the interior was quite nice. All in all, we would return and next time plan to bring friends along. Oak House makes a drive all the way out to Mt Laurel worth it. read more

This was the best date night we have had all year! We had a late reservation on a Friday. We were hesitant because of the time, we are normally in the house early. This restaurant is worth the drive out to Mt. Laurel. Oak House is Mt. Laurel's first fancy fine dining experience. We had the fried green tomatoes, which were cut thinner than I've ever had them before, but they were great. We also had the pork belly that had a nice char on it. I had a hand cut ribeye medium rare and I substituted the scalloped potatoes for the truffle fries. The customer service was excellent and you could tell they cared about the food and experience you had. This is Mt. Laurel's happening place. read more

We came here to celebrate New Year's Eve. The menu was pre-fixed with a choice of steak or lobster risotto. The 2 of us had one of each. The appetizer was fried green tomatoes. It was tasty but sliced so thin that I had to ask someone what it was. It was literally three bites. The butter squash soup was good but it was half a cup. The salad was good but I have never been served such a small amount. The lobster risotto was good but it was a child's size serving. The filet was about 4 ounces, but they said it was 6 ounces. The steak had been cooked previously and tasted as if it had been microwaved to reheat. I have never had a tough filet that was difficult to cut with a knife. They served a very small dessert that we had to share, even though the menu listed one for each dinner. This dinner had to be prepaid at $135 each. We ordered a bottle of wine for another $100. A 20% tip was added as well as a 3% convenience fee. We paid $500 for 2 people for dinner and we were still hungry when we left. The service was extremely slow and there were very few people there. We waited 30 minutes to place our order. Then they started placing chairs on tables and cleaning up before we finished our meal. I had read great reviews about this restaurant. This was not our experience. We will not be back. read more

My husband and I made reservations for an early dinner on a Saturday. I'd heard good things about this Mt Laurel gem and I am so glad we decided to go because it was an absolute treat! I ordered the scallops and my husband had the pork chop. He is more than a bit of a foodie and had some questions for the server about the food. She was more than kind and willing to get answers for us. Overall the taste of every item was perfection!!! I recommend the pork chop and the scallops both. Also DO NOT SNOOZE ON THE CRAB CAKE for a starter. So delish! Probably the best in town. I went to this restaurant with my family for dinner. Beautiful interior design. The staff were so kind and speedy. The food was so so so so good! I recommend the Crab claws as an appetizer (so worth the price omg), Red Snapper for entree, and please if you can, try the peanut butter pie!! It is AMAZING!!!!!! It's super decadent and savory and not too strongly flavored with peanut butter. It is surrounded by glazed nuts and topped with toasted marshmallow fluff. You have to try :) read more

I went to Oak House on a Wednesday night for my birthday. I saw from other reviews that you either need a reservation or to arrive early. I had other places to be so we arrived early. It was not crowded at the time for obvious reasons, so our waiter was able to pace how the food came out for each course. Our server, Tristan, was very attentive and did a great job giving input and taking care of us. All of the staff appeared friendly and helpful from our view point. The restaurant as well as the surrounding shops were very cute and stylish. I was surprised to see the town because I had no clue it was like that (Mountain Brook vibes). The food was AMAZING. My son referred to it as "life changing" and said he's never felt that way over food before. I was thrilled to have finally pulled a family member into my foodie world. I started with an Espresso Martini (it was my birthday after all), the New Orleans BBQ Shrimp (it came with two crostinis and we ended up ordering two more), the pork belly app (this was my favorite item and I will dream of it-- the bleu cheese went great with the grits and the whole dish was well composed), we shared a the Tomahawk Pork Chop (the sweet potato medley in the sauce/reduction was over the top good, the pork chop was super delicious coated in the sauce-didn't like the bleu cheese as much on pork chop as the app), we ended with white chocolate bread pudding. Bread pudding is my area of expertise and this was a very nice one. This is definitely a place that we will go back to and try some more dishes (I will get the pork belly app again next time though).
