Well... iffy is slipping into the land of clusterfucks. Ordered a part for me, I went in to pick it up and had sold it to someone else. Since I was there I needed to a change a couple filters they sold me, wrong ones of course, and the aftermarket were supposedly more that the Dyson brand, not likely but since something had a price on it I'm just supposed to take his word for it. Knowing I'm getting screwed I told him forget ordering another part and just return the two filters. Now the real fun begins - he doesn't know how to do a return. He has to phone a a friend, keeper of the secrets as it were, who knows how to do it just can't explain it over the phone. I now have to wait for the all knowing to return and process this refund. So giving this place another chance was a mistake and one I won't be making again. read more

I was sorry this store left Oak Lawn, but was happy to find them in Countyside. They have taken great care of our 30 year old Hoover which is still running great! This time I brought in a 5 year old Dyson V8. I had watched a few YouTube troubleshooting videos, which led me to believe it probably wasn't fixable, but we got a call later that day that it needed a part, at a very reasonable price, and it was ready the next day. And after I picked it up, I was pleasantly surprised that all 3 brush heads I had brought in with it (just to explain my original troubleshooting) had also been serviced. I was looking for an extension hose for my Dyson DC40 which has been extremely hard to find. It was always sold out on the Dyson website and the ones they have on Amazon didn't fit the vacuum. Do not do business with these guys. I know it's strong language but they are not capable and lied to me over and over. I left a Miele vacuum there on Saturday and showed the guy Joe what the problem was. He wrote it up and said somebody would call on Monday to let me know if they could fix it and what the cost would be. I didn't get a call so I called on Monday late on the day. Talked with 'Jesse' and he said he hadn't looked at it and would call Tuesday. No call back on Tuesday, so on Wed I went there in person. They said it couldn't be fixed but I noticed it now wouldn't stand up on its own. They said that's how it was when I dropped it off, which is where they were flat out lying. I could also tell that it had been taken apart but not put back together properly. Be cautioned. read more

Great experience here today. We went here to get a belt for our vacuum cleaner. He had it right there, put it on, cleaned it and for less than $15.00, we were on our way. We are glad to hear they will be opening another store in Countryside within the next year. We didn't mind traveling to Oak Lawn from Bolingbrook though to get what we needed in a friendly manner. This is after we went to a vacuum/sewing store in Downers Grove 2 weeks ago and were so disappointed in their service. After looking for 15 minutes on-line for the belt we needed, they ordered the wrong one and it was 3 sizes too big after a call a week later to pick it up. We returned the wrong size belt and she never inquired about ordering the correct one or sorry about that. Choose Oak Lawn Vacuum every time! read more

My experience at this place is not good. I brought my dyson in because the wand is clogged, and I was quoted $40. The guy at the shop called me back & recommended more things for the vacuum, such as 2 new filters and overall unclogging. I called Dyson and they were sending me the parts that I need for free, so I didn't want to pay for the services mentioned above. I went to pick up the vacuum, and was informed that 1) the vacuum is somewhere in the store, they cannot find it. Can I wait for the fix guy to come back. 2) When they did find the vacuum it was missing the cover to the container. Why? Because Dyson is sending me a new one anyway, so they threw it away. Needless to say I was angry. These people have no right to throw my stuff away without informing me. I asked the person at the front counter (I believe he's the owner) and he kept repeating, "I don't know what's going on, I just work here." SERIOUSLY?? It's your shop that you don't know what's going on? I waited for 30+ minutes for the technician to come back, meanwhile the owner ignored me & kept repeating it's not his problem when he caught my eye. I left with my headless vacuum. Seriously bad customer service and money extortion. read more

I brought my newer Electrolux vacuum (about $150) to this store because it didn't want to stay upright and was wobbly. I bought it only 6 months ago from Amazon. This store properly filled out their paperwork and called me back in the stated time frame to say that the manufacturer would not repair it, as 180 degree vacuums tend to do this. The friendly and helpful man behind the desk is thorough and detail-oriented; I am upset that other Yelp reviewers choose to bash him. That's low. He thoroughly explained the reasoning again when I arrived to pickup my vac. They're even keeping my info on file in case another issue arises. No charge. Thank you! A few weeks ago the toggle switch on my vacuum went out. I called Hoover to see if I could get a new part. They were unable to help me but did refer me to Oak Lawn Vacuum. Visited these guys in Countryside yesterday. I needed couple of small wheels for the floor attachment of my Shark. He had some old spares and since they were used he didn't charge me for the parts or for the installation. Nice guys, more than helpful as I was on my way in less than 10 minutes. By the way , I tried ordering parts for my Shark and since it was old I couldn't get replacements. So I was ready to buy a new vacuum cleaner. They saved me hundreds $$$$. Very poor customer service. I called to ask if they had a part for my machine. They told me it would have to be special ordered. Fine. I called again to ask about a different part, but this time while I was in the middle of giving him my model number, the man who was on the phone I guess tried pulling away from the phone like putting me on "hold" but I heard him say "IT'S THE SAME PERSON AGAIN ABOUT THE BISSELL..THEY ALREADY CALLED I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY ARE CALLING AGAIN." So apparently, you can't call this store more than once not even to ask a different question because apparently it's a huge mistake that they can't help but keep their rude comments to themselves. I stopped in to get my fairly new Orek repaired. The Orek dealer was out of the way and my time was limited so I stopped in on my way to work. This place exceeded my expectations. My repair was done the next day at a reasonable price. The thing that made this a good experience was the guy behind the counter. I wish I caught his name! His customer service and attitude were excellent. If I were the store owner, I would be very proud to have him represent me. My vacuum is like new. Quick honest & knowledgeable place.I went in to get a belt for my shark vacuum. Had called shark clean & they were trying to sell me the brush & belt so I decided to find the belt elsewhere. I walked in to Oak Lawn vacuum & they were pretty busy but quick to get to me. Watching their interaction with the other customers I realize how honest & knowledable they were. When it was my turn they looked at my vacuum explain that I did not need a belt, the belt was fine they took my vacuum brush apart cleaned it out for me showed me how to clean it out return my vacuum and there was no charge. The lady they took care of before me had the same experience they turn her vacuum on and realize that it had been put back together wrong ..explain the problem to her. I needed vacuum warranty service to be done and I went to Kritz Vacuum first, as it was a closer location to me. The service at Kritz Vacuum was horrible and disgusting. I felt like I was treated the same way you would treat a dirty dog. Anyways, I went to Oak Lawn Vacuum on Friday and there were 2 young men there.They required a $25.00 deposit as their store policy which is refundable if covered by the manufactures Warranty. Amazingly, the next day, I was notified that the warranty would only cover the switch and the rest of the repairs were chargeable, the main complaint was the unit runs and shuts down, little did I know it was clogged and needed to be unclogged. I approved them to unclog it and paid the servicing fee. When I picked up the vacuum, it was cleaner than I have ever seen it before. I would recommend this place anyone no matter where you are located, Oak Lawn Vacuum has the best service I have ever experienced. I've referred my friends/family and they are all amazed at the wonderful service and customer relations. Did I mention they've been in business since 1921 Wow. My Hoover Air Cordless needed to be repaired. We called Hoover and they sent us here since we have a warranty . The man behind the counter is slower than molasses so we had leave and come back another day. (Didn't want to be late for work). When the vacuum was brought in the man behind the counter was demanding for our spare battery and charger. We were told by Hoover that it wasn't necessary. The man called Hoover and said the part would have to be shipped in. The man gave us a time frame of about 4 weeks for the repair. He called back five days later and said it was ready. My husband picked it up and was told that the part was not ordered and that Hoover told them to just remove a part. My vacuum is working so that is why I didn't give one star. However, I am a skeptic and think that the repair job wasn't done properly. It sounds fishy. read more
