I have no idea why Yelp thinks I need to review this place twice. My first review is Yelp's featured review for Oak Street Coffee for well over a year. . I visit her every month when I have to go downtown. If you need someone to hold your hand when you visit, let's get together! I got you!! Please just go! She is amazing! I am certain you have had less than an amazing coffee by visiting a local BucksStar. Wow. Yelp thinks I need comment on ambiance. I'm only there once a month. I have been parking at the US Bank garage for the past two years whenever I head downtown for work and somehow just discovered this little coffee shop last week! They got their fall specials going, so of course I grabbed a 20 oz iced pumpkin spice latte. It was delicious, perfectly sweet and cozy. And get this, all their syrups are homemade! I'm already counting down the days until I can go back and try more of their drinks. read more

We stopped here for a coffee on the way to a work conference. As far as ambiance, it's just a little walk up stand in front of a parking garage. I thought I'd mention that, in case you were thinking about sitting and sipping a while. The barista (owner? maybe?) was friendly and chatty. Our drinks took a few minutes, so maybe not ideal if you're in a big hurry but when I say, this was the best cappuccino I've had in FOREVER... I mean... Wow. Yeah. The espresso was so rich and yet so mellow. What a contradiction in flavors. I was sipping my empty coffee cup all morning in my conference, wishing just a little more would magically appear somehow. Girl, you can take all day and serve me out of a whole in the wall and I'd still be coming back. If this wasn't 2+ hours from home, I'd be here every day. read more

Coffee was delicious. Barista was super friendly & makes her own caramel sauces!! Different alternative milks are available: soy, oat, etc. and a few vegan breakfast options. Note this is a coffee cart so there are only a couple of chairs outside on the sidewalk, but it's perfect for breakfast to-go! read more

Oak Street coffee is in a convenient spot across from the Benson hotel. I work nearby and it's a great spot when you need a coffee/snack to go. The muffins are delicious. I believe I read a sign that their flavors (sauce/syrups) are homemade. I enjoy an iced latte and a poppy seed muffin. The service is enjoyable as well. read more

I have been struggling to find a small, local coffee place with amazing flavors so I am so excited that I adventured here. I had the caramel/coconut which was so tasty. Perfect combination. The owner did a great job cooling down my coffee so it was still cold by the time I got to my office- a rarity in Portland where normally my coffee is slightly icy but ends up being lukewarm. What a little hidden gem! This coffee shack is a must try. I walked over here and wanted a vanilla latte, the lady informed me she was currently out but suggested her home made caramel sauce if I was interested. There were a few to try, I believe I got original. So good! This was amazing. The owner is so friendly and really knows her coffee. GO HERE!!! If you like great coffee, food and service this is your place! I had a white mocha with her homemade caramel coconut syrup. So smooth and the perfect sweetness. I almost didn't get the almond poppyseed muffin but I'm so glad I did it was amazing as well. You feel appreciated giving this small business your patronage. I only wish I didn't live so far away or this would be my go to for my morning pick me up. I might have to stop by later today to get their seasonal latte. If ever there is a reason to drink coffee twice it's Oak Street Coffee. read more

Update: this is my favorite go-to coffee shop out of the 20+ places near my work. My standard is a white chocolate mocha, that is without a doubt the best I've had. The gal that runs Oak Street (by herself, I might add) is super friendly and fast, and she actually makes a lot of the syrups and baked goods, like muffins, sandwiches and granola, that she offers. She also makes CRONUTS. You seriously need to stop in and try one of these salty-sweet, croissant-layered disks of heaven. In addition to a way-better-than-Starbucks pumpkin spice latte (or an egg nog latte, if that's more your holiday must-have). I sampled the salted caramel mocha the other day, and was rolling happy in work, caffeine and caramelly goodness for the rest of the morning. Next time: Hot Salted Caramel Apple Cider, here I come. read more

This was the closest coffee shop to my hotel and I'm so happy it was. The barista/owner is super nice and chatted me up while making my coffee. I got: a salted caramel latte - flavor was good but I wish there was more caramel. A white chocolate mocha: honestly I couldn't keep the "Oooh" from coming out as soon as I took my first sip. My wife had the same reaction. I'm so glad that this was my first Portland coffee experience and I know I'll be back at some point again during this trip. read more

The owner was the sweetest and she was very helpful and willing to put in that little bit extra just because she wants to. Had an italitan soda (ha strange craving) and you cant really go wrong with that and a tillamook cheese bagel which she took the time to toast, cream and cut for boyfriend and I to share. He frequents this place and loves their simple black coffee so if you're staying on a broadway hotel or some where near by (and not looking for anything extreme that starbucks comes up with...ha) go see this cute little cart in the US bank building garage. read more

Came here and got a caramel latte per recommendation. They were super nice and friendly, but my latte had no foam and a weird chemical-y flavor...hard to describe. Not sure what kind of coffee beans were used but didn't taste very high quality. I got a double tall and it didn't taste very strong in coffee flavor...not a good sign. Standard prices - $3.50 for a latte. Great service and friendly staff but based on this drink I probably won't be back. Womp womp. read more

What a hidden little gem. I finally checked this place out after walking past three dozen times, and I"m glad I did. They use locally roasted Coava coffee (score!), super nice and friendly baristas that are always happy to chat it up and great little side snacks to boot. Also make sure to get a punch card so you're 10th cup is on the house. read more

So happy to find Oak Street Coffee right around the corner from my hotel during a short trip. This is a cute small shop run by lovely Michelle. Her coffee is freshly ground, delicious and served with a smile. I was only visiting town for a few days and she remembered me and even what I had ordered the day before. Such a personalized touch and she even make s her own homemade caramel sauces for the lattes! This is a must stop for anyone in the downtown Portland area. Skip the Starbucks and go support Michelle! read more

Unfortunately, both suffered from a grind that was a little too fine, resulting in bitterness that was overwhelming in each. The single origin had some promise, with some pleasant acidity in the background, but it couldn't break through the bitter. Things were a little better in my wife's mocha, which had a deep chocolate flavor and silky smooth milk, it paired well with the cinnamon knot pastry we shared. Maybe a place to stick with the milk drinks, or at least this was my experience on this day.

While I didn't stay, the shop was lovely and unique with its tables and floor seating. If in the neighborhood, this is a great spot to pause for a bit between the many shops around. This is nothing on the shop, but I always warn when places are in those older parts of town, ie no parking lot and very small congested side streets around. Be care and slow finding parking as it can be a challenge. For me, this shop is worth it.

Tōv will always be my first stop when passing through the Rose City.

We stopped in here after playing a round at the Wonderwood Mini Golf. It had been hot and cramped and we really needed a drink. The door was being held open by a line of people and usually that is a great sign. Being busy is awesome for the business and I am glad they are so popular. It was a weekday, probably around 11 am and there were just so many people in line. It was really cute inside but SO chaotic. There were tons of kids screaming and at times it was difficult to tell where the line really was. After about 5 minutes of the line not moving, I started to get a slight headache from the noise and we agreed we would have to go somewhere else. It was probably for the best as all the indoor and outdoor seating was full so there would have been nowhere for us to eat even if we had braved the line. I think when a business reaches this level of popularity, it's important to put systems in place to keep patrons from feeling crowded and overwhelmed and it's definitely something they might want to look into in the future.

They rotate flavors often, but Raw Honey & Sea Salt and Cinnamon Sugar are always available. The chai flavors are also excellent, especially the King & I, inspired by Thai pandan tea. It's warm, lightly spiced, and packed with flavor. Consistently delicious, fun seasonal flavors, and always worth the stop. One of my favorite donut shops, hands down.
