The Po-Boys were delicious! I loved the waffle fries too. I'd say it's good size meal for a lunch but it didn't seem enough for a dinner for us. We could have just been extra hungry because we skipped lunch though. Highly recommend. Please note that you do order at the counter when you arrive. You get a number to seat yourself after.

Some of the Louisiana/ Cajun decor which is all over the restaurant.

Good place for a dinner while in town. Decor is very Cajun/Louisiana and I think they own every Tabasco labeled item of kitsch located in a 150 mile radius. Ordering food can be difficult if you aren't familiar/don't find a menu in the entry line up area - you walk in and get in a line in a narrow corridor through which you can eventually see the wall menu but before that either you can't see the menu or there is a shelf with menus on it for you to look at. Line would have moved quicker if 2 of the 3 cashiers at the registers weren't taking time between each customer to check their phones. Man I hate that. We lucked out and worked with the 1 girl who was able to keep her phone stowed away like an actual professional. We each had the Cuban, which was good although it was done in a panini press and not in a plancha. Seafood gumbo and hush puppies were the sides which were good. I had a Coors Light which came out nice and cold. Overall good food and it was prepared and came out quickly, -1 overall for screwing around with cell phones checking Tik Tok or insta or God knows what. Hate that.

Came here with my son-in-law after the egg bowl…read more We were able to be seated immediately in the back area booths near the beer wall. I decided to try the Red Beans and Rice (red beans marinated for 24 hours, simmered with sausage, ribeye, and vegetables, and served over rice). While the ribeye added to the traditional dish, I was not a fan of the overall end result. It actually seemed like the whole dish had been cooked for 24 hours until there was almost no moisture left. The rice part was fine. My son-in-law decided to try the fried catfish I had been considering. While cooked well and had good flavor, the batter was not the expected cornmeal style normally associated with fried catfish. They were also out of the particular beer he had been wanting to try. After multiple attempts to pick one from the menu, the server said it might be easier to show you what we do have on tap. Service on this visit also left a lot to be desired. From the delay taking the order, having to flag a server down for drink refills and even to get the check. It was not busy enough to cause the service we received. We had been before with my daughter and wife and had a much better experience. So I am not sure if things have gone downhill or just an anomaly. The burger I had on the previous visit was very good and the Rosey Chips (house made potato chips) were pretty good too. My daughter is a big fan of their fried pickles appetizer. Will. Give them another shot, yes but there are plenty of other options we will likely go to first.

The parking can be interesting and the signage is very confusing because it says permit parking...we weren't sure if that was for patrons or not. When you enter the establishment, you are overwhelmed with signage asking you to make sure and close the door and various other signs. With that being said, we did not see the sign that said they were out of all drinks with the exception of tea. It would have been nice to be told that when we ordered a soft drink You order as soon as you walk in and then they bring the food to the table. This is a little overwhelming as you can not see the menu until your turn to place the order and with the line forming behind you, that can be stressful. The food is decent, but nothing spectacular. My son had the pulled pork sandwich with Mac n cheese and enjoyed it. My husband had the 2 piece catfish platter and while he enjoyed it, it wasn't the best he has ever had. He said he would probably try something else if we come back. I had the pulled pork grilled cheese with onion rings and I really enjoyed my meal. There was a good amount of pulled pork with some yummy pimento cheese and it was toasted perfectly. The onion rings had a nice light batter, but were served perfectly crisp. I would definitely order my meal again if we come back and the portion was so large that my husband and I thought we could definitely split it. Overall, not the best meal we had in Starkville, but we would come back if others wanted to give it a try.

Ate here over the spring and just getting to the review. I was reminded to review it due to the…read moreplate pic I took! It was pretty crowded as expected on a weekend so I decided to just sit at the bar. The place itself was clean, nice, and obviously well kept. Some of the other reviews are what sparked my interest, and I can honestly say that I'm glad I showed up. I told the bartender it was my first time in and told her I was looking for a steak. The one she suggested had a small sweet marinade to it. I'm not really a sweet steak guy but I went with it.... and man was it really good. Cooked to perfection (medium rare) and tasted super fresh. The Mac and cheese was also solid, as was the sweet tea. Now... the chicken noodle soup: I loved it. Big soup here and although this soup was not "brothy" at all, it was thick and creamy, so good. Overall, I can't wait to go back to Starkville if it's on the schedule next spring because if it is, I know where I'll be returning for a meal.

Table had chicken strips & fries, salads, chicken soups, steak and rice, shrimp pasta, and burger meal. The chicken fingers were hand breaded in house and great with a nice honey mustard. The chicken soups are thick comfort food. Decent sized dishes. Everyone left full. Dessert was pecan crusted strawberry cheesecake. Slices I thought were a tad small but they tasted good. Sever was nice and attentive but forgetful. It was a busy evening though.

We arrived at lunch (1PM) on a busy Saturday and were greeted by a somewhat frazzled server who…read moreoffered to seat us at the bar or we could wait for a table. We opted for bar seating and had water brought to us while we scanned the expansive drink menu. In addition to the signature cocktails, there is a variety of hard liquor, an amazing amount of whiskey, wine, (both red and white) as well as an impressive draft beer menu. It should be noted that there's a whiskey flight for $20 and you get a 1 ounce pour of each whiskey. It looks like there are seven on offer for this special. We didn't try it so cannot offer any more insights on that. We ordered the January gumbo special"Baby Duck Gumbo" - mine as is with chicken and sausage for $9 ( interestingly with okra which is only ever found in seafood gumbo ... at least in Louisiana) and the other with the addition of shrimp for $5 more. We asked for the saltines to be left off as we don't like to waste food and aren't fans of these old school standards. We split the brisket melt on marbled rye instead of Texas toast and left off the American cheese too... yeah we're *those* people... the sandwich comes with a choice of house seasoned fries or potato chips and we ordered the fries. The order arrived together (sigh). I would have preferred the gumbo to come first, then the sandwich, but hey, my mistake I guess I *should've* said something. Of course, I thought it was common sense that it should come in two courses instead of altogether. ... On a brighter not the order came just as we had requested and was a nice presentation. The gumbo was hearty and had plenty of protein albeit more rice than I would've liked. NOTE: if you are not an okra fan, beware. Both of us are good with okra so it was not a problem, but they do have plenty of okra in this gumbo. My dining partner said to skip the $5 add on of shrimp because although they are plentiful, they lack flavor. The sandwich is a decent size and was very tasty too and we both gave it a thumbs up. The fries were still hot and had a nice subtle flavor. Overall we'd give this roadhouse feeling, zany atmosphered little joint on the corner of Old West Point Rd and University a recommendation. The servers could use a refresher on how to greet guests and checking on them at least once during the meal :/ (1 star deduction) Oh, hey, they also have ample outdoor seating which is pet friendly for well behaved dogs.
