Went to this joint for our last night in town - wish we had discovered it earlier! Eric was an absolute delight, everyone there is so friendly! My husband had the cheesesteak and onion rings - both were delicious. I had the crab cake sandwich (fried the crab cake) and fried zucchini - even though we forgot to grab the tartar sauce for the sandwich - happily it was completely unnecessary. No fillers, pure delicious crab fried to perfection on a soft potato roll. He gave us a sample of his MD crab soup (the red kind) absolutely delicious. We picked up some cream of crab to take home for our daughter and grabbed some bread pudding for dessert. All of it was delicious. Notes about the place- it's not fast food everything is made fresh for your order so don't expect a fast in and out. We are on vacation so we are in no hurry, anyway. Also, there is no inside dining, it's a cute little tiny eatery - there are a few picnic tables outside to eat on, but it was raining the day we got food so that was out. We took the food back to our hotel - everything was still warm and surprisingly the fried food was still crispy. Eric boasts that his soft-shell, crab cake and bread pudding will blow your mind. And well, he was right. We ate 4 large soft shells and one small along with some flounder, fried oysters, etc.. The good news is that will my mind is still functional, the food lived up to my expectations and even exceeded them. My wife and son love soft shells and they said they were the best they ever had. I agreed but they know way more about the softies than I do so I defer to their wisdom. The crab cakes,we had them fried, were perfectly fried, not greasy and the crab inside was moist and tasty. The fried oysters were melt in your mouth perfection and the flounder was perfect. The coleslaw was tasty and different from the average coleslaw. Now, the bread pudding had a lot to live up to and when it came out covered in white and black chips, I knew that it was going to be delicious and it was. Moist, warm, and tasty. If you want a decent all lump crab cake, instead of the generally mediocre restaurant fare in OC, head to one of two carry outs. Captain's Galley in West OC or Uptown Eats on the north end of town. They both have excellent all lump, properly seasoned crab cakes. Uptown Eats also has a variety of sandwiches that have a great rep. An added bonus is the folks that own it are super nice. Absolutely phenomenal food!!! I had the chicken bacon ranch wrap --- 5. My girlfriend had the veggie wrap and said it was delicious. We shared the sweet potato fries and they were crispy and sweet. We also purchased 3 ice cream sandwiches. The Choclate peanut butter, cookies and cream, and vanilla chocolate chip. I wandered in on a Saturday afternoon while my wife was browsing at the consignment shop next door, and was immediately greeted by the friendly staff and incredible aroma of sizzling ribeye. When our food arrived, our expectations continued to be exceeded. The ribeye steak sub was delicious. The roll was fresh, toppings were of the highest quality and worked together beautifully. I've gotta start this by saying that I am very much an amateur with reviews. I rarely leave reviews, but I'm gonna make an effort to change that. Restaurants like this are why reviews are important. My wife and I came to Fenwick Island for a long weekend just to enjoy the seafood. We had eaten pretty good up until lunch today. I just had the best lunch I've had in a long long long time. It started with the owner, Eric. He has such an outgoing personality and his introductory statement was "What questions can I answer?" rather than asking what we wanted. I told him we drove up foe the weekend to eat good seafood and he was thrilled to help. I ended up with a crabcake sandwich, a philly cheesesteak while my wife also got a cheesesteak and we shared a large fry. Eric brought out a crab soup for us to try, which was incredible. It was similar to vegetable soup, with a good amount of crab in it to up the ante. The crabcake sandwich was ridiculously excellent. I wouldn't have changed a thing about it. I couldn't finish my philly but it was great as well. Even the fries were better than most. I can't stress enough how great the crabcake was. If you're on the fence about this place, please please please treat yourself and get a crabcake sandwich! Edit: I should mention our bill was only $38. Definitely affordable compared to some of the competitors, with a definite edge in quality. So to recap: best service, most affordable, by far best taste. The only thing I'd change is to add seating, but that would require a new location which would require more capital (higher prices). I could have eaten this meal in the back of a garbage truck and it would still be better than anything else I had this weekend, so there's definitely no need for change. read more
