Medical malpractice. Mean and rude after making medical mistake. First i visited them with minor discomfort and pain complaint in my lower left jaw/ teeth. On the first visit they took xrays and examined my mouth. I heard the doc saying that i have cavities too. Then i was told the office staff will discuss what's needed to be done. They mentioned root canals, crowns and wisdom teeth removal but not cavities. I asked them about that and they said it to be discussed after "important" job is done . While waiting on the insurance approval pain became worse and unbearable. I called to office several time including the time when i cried out of pain on the fourth sleepless night where i took over 3000mg of over the counter pain medicine and pain didn't go away. Noone returned my call that day. Next day they told me insurance didn't approve anything yet. I called to provider and they told me that everything was approved tho weeks ago (one week after my 1st visit). So i called to office again and they scheduled next visit in a week and half. Eventually my pain succumbed and i was able to tolerate it considering i take ibuprofen everyday. But not gone!! I mentioned it at the next visit and asked if my impacted wisdom tooth could affect it . Been told that i just need a crown thats it (root canal was done in 2018 on that tooth). I asked them to make sure i dont have infection before the out perm crown - been told "lets hope you don't " and wasn't refered to endodontist or anyone else who could give second opinion . Needless to say neither temp crown nor permanent one solved the issue . Eventually last week pain became so unbearable it spread to my upper jaw, head and gave me migraines for three night in a raw after i took 2000mg of painkiller in 4 hour window. It was so bad i was literally wishing i could get the pliers to remove all my teeth with no anesthesia to feel better. On Monday i called to insurance provider and they gave me new doctor . That made appointment same day and treated me immediately. He told me possible few reasons of my pain (could be broken tooth inside the crown), can be cavity on the tooth next to it (that seems it was since pain is gone after it was treated but it is so deep now i might need the root canal done) i blame this office that refused to do my cavities and let it get deeper and worse. Another issue : obviously I have been at dentist before,- many times in my country of birth and i have been in USA several times from 2018 to 2021. I had root canals done and had teeth extracted. However never ever in my life i had a dentist to hit my nerve while numbing my tooth for root where the pain was so excruciating that i had to scream out of pain . And when i screamed out of pain dr working on my tooth was rude af, stoped for second was like "it will be discomfortable what did you expect?!" And continued to hit the same nerve. The pain was so intolerable that i felt every single fiber of the nerve hitting to my ear, neck and tongue like electrical sharp pain. So unbearable that i continued to scream and he didn't stop instead he became irritated "its part of the process! Can't you tolerate -it's mild discomfort ?!" (How tf do you know its mild - are you hitting your own nerve?!) . Eventually pain was so bad i had to move and touched his stomach with the outer side of my palm . After what he went insane on me and kicked me out of the office (I understand the part where he probably got scared himself after it almost affected him too, but don't understanding the medical malpractice part where he gave two shits about patient letting him know its too painful and screaming at the chair). Now they made me a villain for being upset with his angry and dismissive behavior . thats not how you treat people who trust you with their health. And definitely don't blame your patients for your own negligence and mistakes . Will never come ever again to this office. Its cool if they are lucky and everything goes well but if they do smth wrong and medication doesn't work or they hit a nerve (like in my case ) they won't even stop and will yell at you that you can't handle pain . read more

Today I visited the Ocean Dental Group dental clinic at 2781 Suite MacArthur Boulevard in Santana.They stated that it was necessary to take 18 x-rays, and they refused to reduce the amount of x-rays. If I need to fix 1 tooth why do they have to x-ray of all teeth 18 time? It is not safe for a person to be irradiated so many times at the same time. This is probably against the protocols.. The World Health Organization is against this. I stopped the process and left the clinic. I believe that the goal is to unreasonably inflate the price for the service. If they want to rip off more money from the insurance company, why are they doing this, harming people's health? read more

Don't come here. They will change your appointment times and change plans last minute. They don't respect people's times! I made an appointment a month in advance at 4pm, and the day before they said DR can only do 11am. What?! What's the point of making an appointment. I asked if I can do next week and they said no he's only here once a month? Ridiculous. Here I go, canceling my entire day and moving my day around to go to this 11am appointment... but that's not all.. I go in at 11am just so the receptionist could tell me that the DR can't see me today, he can't do any work on me and gave me another referral..? How unprofessional is that. First of all, it is illegal to have the receptionist give any information/advice about my treatment. I will be calling my insurance and making sure they do not charge it since I was not seen AT ALL. A 614.80 out of pocket for a simple root canal with private insurance nightmare. I was referred to Ocean Dental Group for a Root Canal on 2/17/2023. I have dental insurance (Deltadental PPO), and we all know that when we have the right type of insurance, you shouldn't have to pay out of pocket. So I went in, and I was told to sign this; it was the consent to get my root canal according to them. I signed it after all that's what I was there for. They did it, and I was done with it on the 21 of February 2023. It turns out that in this specific dental clinic, they don't cover something called an MTAD. It's basically like a type of paste they use when doing root canals, and it's not covered by my insurance company, but they still went ahead and applied it to my procedure. So I ended up paying $103.80 for the root canal and $480.00 for the MTAD that I wasn't even aware it wouldn't be covered. They didn't even bother to explain what MTAD meant. Now I kind of know from research, because I couldn't believe their was such thing in the dental "world", because well I don't work in that field. If they had told me about it and how those 480 dollars wouldn't be covered, I would've said sorry I'm getting a second opinion somewhere else. I got the root canal without a crown to top it off and paid 614.80. And with insurance. NEVER in my life did I ever have to pay so much for a root canal and with insurance. So I just wanted to give y'all a heads up. Thankfully, I'm not living paycheck to paycheck, but I know a lot of people are. So please read this before going here. Let me TELL you something, if you're looking for a new dentist, or even thinking about switching dentists, come to THIS one. I'm new to the area, and had 2 weeks of INSANE pain because of an inflamed nerve caused by a cavity on my molar tooth. I just moved to Costa Mesa recently and absolutely dislike going to dentists for many reasons, pain from having weird tools prod my mouth being the top. However, this time around, I couldn't wait any longer because I was waking up every morning at 4am with a throbbing jaw as if I'd been smacked across the face with a bowling ball. So, after doing some research and reading about how this dentistry is known for its painless operations and professional staff, I decided to go in and check them out for myself. Adia, front desk, was kind enough to help me book a last minute appointment, despite their busy schedule, because I was in so much pain. Long story short, I went in the following day for my dreaded checkup, and a root canal operation was needed in order to fix the issue. UGH. Cindy, front desk help, was super supportive and encouraging to put me at ease saying that the Dr's were super professional and that prior customers had either 0 pain or hardly any pain. She really put me at ease so kudos to her. My root canal operation ended up taking 3 whole long hours because of how deep my cavity was, but let me tell you Dr. Karimi was something I'd never seen before. Some kind of dentist superhero the whole way through. Not only was he super funny and charismatic, but he did a FLAWLESS job of getting into the cavity while gracefully extracting all the decay, etc. He did a remarkable job of putting me at ease through his humor while professionally handling this insane right molar. I can literally say he's the best dentist I've ever let touch my teeth without a doubt. His assistant Jackee, was nothing short of amazing as well. Dr. Ozder, the endodontist, finally worked on the last portion of my teeth once the decay had been removed in order to actually perform the root canal. That man was in and out quicker than you could snap your fingers and count to 10 - it was like magic! I had no idea an operation like that could be so painless and a good time (crazy right? a good time at the dentist?) It's been a few days after the root canal, and I have 0 pain too - I think that's even more remarkable! I was given a subscription of pain killers, and have only had to take 1 pill. I believe it must a testimony to how well this group at Ocean Dental did. The best part is now I can finally sleep in peace and not be irritated the whole day from a throbbing tooth. Great work from this group. So, anyone needing to get their teeth done, hope this review helps. GO GET IT DONE! read more

WARNING!!! DO NOT USE! Due to the gross negligence of this office, they filed a claim with my insurance company with the wrong information leading to my insurance paying a completely different dentist in Florida. You would assume that a dentist office, who apparently bills dozens of claims each week, would be able to complete a task as simple as identifying the correct business to be paid for services, not an office on the other side of the United States. Ocean dental gave me the run-around for over 5 months and still has not refunded me the over $350 that I paid them that I wasn't supposed to. I had went in knowing that my insurance company would cover 100% of the procedure I had done, but Ocean Dental misled me and informed me that I would have to pay them $350 for services, which would be refunded by my insurance company when they received payment. But due to their negligence in billing, the wrong dentist got paid (not my fault at all), and I was out the $350. Working with Ocean Dental to get this resolved has been a complete and total nightmare, and I don't want anyone else to get screwed like I did. read more
