I ate at this place on a whim. Ordering was fast but the inside didn't seem too appealing to eat in. The service was good and I got my food fairly quick. The fish was tasty but tasted a bit under seasoned. Paired with the white sauce and it tasted amazing! The fries were delicious. I would definitely come here for a quick fish and chips.

I haven't been to this place in years and it still doesn't disappoints. This is a simple place but the food is served fresh & hot. To place an order you must order @ the counter. Your food gets served as soon as it's ready. It never sits. The restaurant is a mom & pop's place and isn't trendy but the food makes up for it 1000%. The bill came up to $34 for 2 people with beverages. That is a deal compared to any fast food establishment.

Friendly service and amazing food at awesome price. What more can you ask for. the newly painted wall mural from Paint the Grove festival was a treat to see. Will be back for sure!

The best fish n chips for the price! Usually I'll be paying over $25 at a restaurant but at this mom n pop place, it's a little bit over half the price. Got here when it was empty,I ordered, and my order was done in less than 10 mins. Ordered the 2 fish combo (fish n chips) and a Coke Zero. They give you a bottle of tartar sauce, ketchup, and vinegar. Crispy fried exterior and a moist salty fish on the inside. The biggest surprise here was actually the tartar sauce bottle. In virtually all other places, they just give you a cup but nope, here's the whole bottle. I am still amazed how great it all tasted. It's an Elk Grove pearl.

Stopped by for fish & chips and this place definitely hit the spot. Portions were huge. The fish was perfectly fried, and still super moist inside. Prawns were also a great choice. Fried clams were decent but probably something I'd skip next time. Onion rings were nice and crispy, but the fries were just okay (better after throwing then un the air fryer). We called in our order and pickup was super fast and easy. Great spot if you're craving fried seafood!

It's just gotten too dirty The table are grimy the salt and pepper shakers are disgusting the trays they serve on are worse then than the sticky tables The fish is good but thin and more batter than fish Service is on a unwiped table Maybe I'll choose to take it to go next time. But if what I see .... the kitchen can't be good

This has been a family favorite! Ocean Fish & Chips has the best fried seafood in Elk Grove and in the surrounding Sacramento area! Seafood is alway fresh, battered at the restaurant and fried. This restaurant does not use those pre-coated/battered frozen seafoods. Fried fish pieces are of generous size. Calamari is always tasty and moist inside. Not like other restaurants where the calamari is thin, dry and chewy like jerky. All fried foods are delicious! Family-owned business. Nice staff! After ordering, the staff will bring the food out to the customer at their table if they dine-in or will bring the take-out orders out to their waiting customers. Great service! Inside restaurant has a cozy small dining area.

Ocean Fish & Chips is the go to restaurant in Elk Grove for... well... Fish & Chips. My family has been going there for over a decade because of their consistency and excellence. We've always ordered the Fish, Prawns, Calamari, Hush Puppies, Coleslaw, and Fries. They include Tartar sauce and it's usually enough for dipping. Their seafood always tastes fantastic with a crunch in every bite and the oil is not old nor runny. Phone orders are usually ready within 10-15 minutes outside of Lent (Christian Fasting on Fridays before Easter) else good luck, you'll need to place your order over an hour in advance during Lent. Not many people eat at the restaurant, it's more of a To Go place so don't expect to eat there holding a beer. Parking can be a hassle. As for ambience... it's pretty much a kitchen with seats available for waiting. I do not recommend ordering the fries here. Go somewhere else.

Finally tried Ocean fish and chips! Owner was very friendly and welcoming. This place has been around for a while. Decent prices, but no frills! That's ok. We would rather have decent prices and good food! Nice size filets and also tried the zucchini . Definitely give them a try. Very fortunate to have this little spot here in Elk Grove!

Hmm this place has been open for decades and is in need of a remodel and deep cleaning. Food was decent and service was fast despite the place being very busy. Not the best place around but if you're craving fish and chips Ocean will do the trick.

Service was pleasantly, place was warn- like something you'd find on the coast in a small town ;) beat up, food was okay. I want to try this place again and eat my food at the location, I figure that's why it was only okay. The park is near by but was over packed like any Saturday in summer with good weather would be so I drove home. Fish and chips are meant to be eaten HOT! They were not that hot after being driven around in a closed to go bag.

We got the "special" buy one pound get the next pound free so we did shrimp. We got shrimp, sausage, corn, potatoes, and dungeness crab with the special blend in one bag. The hook and reel special blend was honestly pretty gross it was sweet, Smokey and not very buttery or salty at all. We asked for lemon pepper and extra butter to put inside(which was an extra charge) it made it a little better but I've definitely had better elsewhere. The garlic noodles were really good they had a soy sauce flavor, garlicky and cheesy. The price was pretty expensive considering I've spent $30 less elsewhere. Here at hook & reel I spent $96 The service was good. She was very kind and helpful but also wasn't very attentive. The restaurant and the bathrooms were very clean. Overall I wouldn't come back and I recommend going to Captain crab in Elk Grove it is so much better tasting and cheaper!!

SIDE NOTE-to anyone going there 5 or more party, it's automatic 15% gratuity. JUST KNOW when someone orders to-go while dining, that to-go amount will be added to your dine in bill, of course meaning the gratuity tip will be higher on your final bill due to that to-go order added. They will not make any changes for you there if you try to apply logic. Guess you have to pretend to walk in the door to order or call in while you're sitting down to place the order to-go to avoid it being part of the total bill. Hopefully they change that system because why would you charge to-go orders as part of the dine-in to rack up the gratuity tip for an under par service!? When I questioned the server how does it make sense and she said yes we can cancel the order and call it in rather than just taking the initiative to separate the orders. Make it make sense or maybe I'm just over reacting but it does seem like a way to get more money out of folks. Receipt name said nana and she had a bit of an attitude. I know she already got her tip automatically but at least display some customer service hospitality along the way. First time trying it and likely will be sticking to crab city or boiling crab instead when I crave seafood boil.

Molly was our waitress, and she was amazing...super friendly, attentive, and very helpful with questions about the menu. She even told us about their Thursday karaoke nights. We ordered the seafood boil with shrimp and mussels in the Fusion sauce, mild spice level. The sauce was incredible! It had so much flavor without being overpowering. Next time, I'll definitely be trying medium spice. We also ordered the egg rolls, which were crispy, delicious, and served with lettuce wraps that made them even better. I came across edamame under appetizers. Based on the description, I ordered it. I love me some spicy edamame, especially when it's seasoned very well. I got my order to go, got home and when I opened the edamame, it was not what I expected. It was sitting in liquid. The description of the edamame under appetizers says nothing about it being in any kind of liquid or sauce. So I revisited the establishment tonight, which is Friday (the next day). I explained to the employee taking my order what I expected based on the description on the menu and what I got. I even showed her pictures. She said she's never seen edamame made that way (not in sauce) even though there's a picture of it being made that way under their Yelp profile. There was no attempt to rectify the situation so I left it be but it is a bit disheartening to order something with a specific description, then you get home and your order is not what you thought it would be and then there is no recourse provided. Based on this experience, my tip for future patrons is to ensure you get clarification on an item if you are trying it for the first time because it might not come in the same way it is described on the menu. I've been in contact with some very personable employees here who are amazing when it comes to customer service so I will definitely be back. They were playing soccer, which I understand, because the world is watching the World Cup. One of my favorite things was the hot, moist hand towels given at the beginning of your meal. I LOVED it. I thought it was so elegant and sopisticated. I am not a fan of washing my hands and then eating from a public restaurant, touch on the door to enter and exit. Now they provide the hand towels at the end of your meal, but this is fine dining, I am not using my hands to eat, and I have a napkin, if needed. So, I would prefer to cleanse my hands at the beginning of my meal. I sat in the newly renovated area which looked like the inside of an airplane. Sooooooooo, DOPE!!! It was BEAUTIFULY done! Later on in the meal they reset the root beer soda so I really appreciate the service for that. The vent hood was really low and blocked cooking at times but we understand why it's there. The lighting inside was bright and welcoming as well. We had a party of eight, and I liked that they seated us with two grills, which made cooking much easier for our group. We did have to wait about 10 minutes for a table, though I wasn't sure why since there appeared to be several open tables. Dinner AYCE is $37 per person. One thing I didn't like was how low the exhaust vent hangs over the grill. It made cooking a bit difficult. We raised it higher, but the staff lowered it again because there was too much smoke. The AYCE experience includes a two-hour dining limit, and you can order up to three appetizers and three protein selections at a time. The beef selection included many of the same cuts we usually order at other KBBQ restaurants. While the quality was decent, some of the marinades were underwhelming. For example, the soy garlic beef belly was topped with sliced garlic but didn't have any of the "soy" on it . The marinated finger ribs had a nice texture and chew, but I could barely taste any marinade. The LA galbi was one of the better options, and my orders were not overly fatty. The popcorn chicken looked like it came straight from the bottom of the bucket. Most of it was tiny crumbs and fried bits rather than actual pieces of chicken. I also appreciated that the pineapple was fresh rather than canned. The scallion salad was another highlight--it included lettuce and scallions tossed in a light soy-based dressing. Our server, Brandon, was excellent. Since it was our first visit, he provided helpful recommendations and made the experience more enjoyable. Service was efficient, and our food arrived quickly throughout the meal.

The restaurant has that warm and lively Vietnamese feeling that is hard to find outside of Vietnam. The food was absolutely amazing. Every dish came out fresh, flavorful, and prepared with care. You can tell the chefs take pride in their cooking because every bite tasted authentic and reminded us of family meals and gatherings back home. The portions were generous, and the ingredients tasted fresh and high quality. Whether you come for appetizers, seafood, grilled dishes, or traditional Vietnamese favorites, there is something for everyone to enjoy. One of the highlights of the evening was the karaoke. The sound system was excellent, the song selection was great, and it created such a fun environment for families and friends to enjoy together. There is something special about eating delicious food, singing your favorite songs, laughing with loved ones, and making memories that will last a lifetime. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout the night. They made sure we were comfortable and checked on us regularly even when the restaurant became busy. Their hospitality added even more to the experience. If you are looking for a place that truly captures the feeling of Vietnam with authentic food, great service, and fun karaoke entertainment, this is definitely the place to visit. It is more than just a restaurant÷it feels like a little piece of Vietnam right here in America. We will absolutely be coming back and bringing more family and friends with us next time. Highly recommended for anyone who loves good food, good music, and great company!

We tried their new Cá Nướng Gia Dòn and it was excellent--crispy skin, juicy inside, and very flavorful. Definitely a must-order. The Bò Nhúng Giấm was also really good, fresh beef with a tangy broth that's perfect for sharing. Service was fast and friendly, and the place was clean and lively. One of the best Vietnamese spot with exciting new dishes. I also talked to the owner, Mrs. Le and saw how much she put her heart and soul into every dish. Really respect since I'm working in the same field, hope this place goes booming ! We'll be back, 110% !

Every once in a while, you stumble into a restaurant that reminds you why you love going out to…read moreeat. This is one of those places. My wife and I ordered the braised pork belly, beef scallion pancake, crushed cucumber & garlic salad, and the mini pan-fried dumplings. Every dish was very well executed. The pork belly was *perfectly* cooked with just the right balance of spices. The beef scallion pancake was another standout, especially because it wasn't smeared with an overwhelming amount of hoisin sauce like we've had elsewhere. Every ingredient had room to speak for itself. The mini pan-fried dumplings offered great contrast in texture: crisp on the bottom, delicate on top, with a juicy filling and a unique vinegar-forward dipping sauce that tied everything together. The crushed cucumber and garlic salad was the perfect palate cleanser alongside the richer dishes. We had the chance to chat with Elaine, who we believe is one of the owners. She was warm, humble, and genuinely welcoming. As fellow restaurant operators, we especially enjoy supporting independently owned spots like this. We agreed this may have been the most satisfying meal we've had at a Sacramento-area restaurant all year. Very thoughtful flavors. We wish Elaine and team continued success, and we're already looking forward to coming back.

At no point did we feel rushed or that they were just waiting for us to leave. Their hospitality really made our evening. The food was outstanding. The Mini Pan (fried pork buns) was easily one of the best dishes we've had. As someone who usually eats Cantonese-style pan-fried buns that are much larger, I was impressed by how small and delicate these were. They clearly take a lot of skill to make. Each one had a thin, crispy bottom, juicy and flavorful pork filling, and was the perfect one-bite size. The Beef Scallion Roll was equally amazing. The wrapper was thin and flaky, packed with generous amounts of tender, fragrant beef and fresh scallions. Every bite was fresh and delicious. What impressed us even more was learning that everything is made in-house. You can really taste the quality and care in every dish. Amazing food, outstanding service, and a great dining experience from start to finish. We'll definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place!
