Immaculate service from start to finish. Soups and oysters were delicious. But, the steaks!!! How can this place mess two cut of steaks like that. My bone in "aged" ribeye was undercooked, weirdly seasoned, and extremely tough to cut and eat. I had to leave half of it. You guys need better grade meat to be charging for these prices. The filet Mignon was also tough. I'll stay with capital grille. I believe this place had such a low grade of meat, which is not even comparable to a longhorn steak house steak. I absolutely love Ocean Resort, it's the best property in AC without a doubt. I must say that Ocean has the best nightlife in AC and best looking restaurants too. This is not an exception - American Cut is built beautifully and it's very unfortunate that their very mediocre quality of food extremely overpriced makes it a 2-star review. Colossal Crab was very bad, Lobster in the raw tower was plain overcooked, Tina tartare had sweet sauce that was way overdone. Steak was C-. Service wasn't bad but just average at best which shouldn't be the case in a restaurant of this caliber. Hopefully they will improve and I will be able to one day change this to a higher rating. read more

My Husband, Sister and I went to American Cut for dinner. Do not waste your money. The dinner started off well with our waiter being very attentive and professional. My husband order a beer and my sister and I got a bottle of wine. My husband ordered the Halibut which he loved. My sister and I ordered the Tomahawk Steak medium rare to split. We ordered the Mac and Cheese and Spinach for sides which were okay. When the steak first came out it had a great presentation with a chef frying up butter garlic and herbs however once the steak was put on the table we could see it was burnt on the outside. (Not charted like the waiter explained how the steaks are prepared at American Cut). The burnt taste completely overpower the $130 steak so we requested a new one. The waiter then ghosted the table, as a server I understand it's not the waiters fault for a cooking error however he disappeared from the table. Once the new steak came out it 25 minutes later it was raw, not even rare. They did remove the steak from our bill however dinner was ruined and we had to go elsewhere to eat. read more

I should've heeded the warning of other reviews on here. The food was not terrible, but it was not great and the prices were very expensive. My ribeye was cooked correctly but lacked flavor and was too thick but not juicy. My husbands filet was overdone and butterflied because he asked for it medium well. The twice baked potato was huge and could've been shared (wish I were told that) and it was so dry and bland that we asked for melted butter and salt. The chopped salad was good and large enough to share and the specialty drink "Valerie " was delicious but $16! To be honest Long horn steak house is better. Host/manager seated me in the wrong area for happy hour because he didn't hear me specify that I was there for happy hour, and then asked me why I hadn't told him I was there for happy hour when I had to be reseated. Like it was my fault! I said I did but he probably didn't hear me over the music and masks. In hindsight I should've also told him it seems like that's his job to ask who is there for happy hour if they have a designated area for it and that it's not my responsibility. Most of the customers are likely resort guests who have never been to the restaurant - how can we be expected to know there is a designated area for happy hour?Many servers and bartenders all seemed pretty miserable to be there too. There was a big spill by the bar and the servers were using paper towels to wipe the floor. A customer asked why they weren't using a mop and the server said the bar didn't have a mop. (picture for reference) His presentation was spectacular, he serviced the couple next to us a gave them a list of recommendations and details for possible options. Oysters were delicate and fresh, the baked oysters were warm yet not warm enough for serving. The mashed potatoes were a delicious delight (whipped), broccoli rabe was overly spicy, my palette couldn't handle the heat but had our waiter suggested asparagus (it's not on the menu) like Anthony did we probably would of ordered that instead. The potato was one of the best I've ever had. As for cocktails, I highly recommend the Raspberry Berry! It was so well made and very refreshing. I was super excited to go to a steakhouse. However, I was super disappointed. First, we waited at least 3-4 minutes to get greeted and get our water and even longer to get our menus. Our server was very friendly and knowledgable, but my not too dirty martini came out very dirty. I was also not happy with my porterhouse for 2. We got less meat for more money when compared to our friends who got a separate strip and filet. The ends of the porterhouse were also extremely well done when compared to the rest of the piece and tasted like chalk. There was very little meat that was to my liking (medium rare) and we left nothing behind. The au poivre sauce tasted like watered down A1 sauce. The onions and twice baked potato were good though. When you spend $250 on a meal for 2, you usually have some high expectations and those expectations were not met. I wish I could offer a better review. read more

I hardly ever write bad reviews on anything, but i was extremely disappointed with our visit. My husband and I decided to go to American Cut for AC Restaurant week. We wanted to try somewhere new that we haven't been before. Unfortunately, we were overall disappointed in the entire experience. Our server was MIA the entire time we were there. He never came back to ask us if we wanted another drink and did not clear our empty dishes off of the table until he had to come over to bring our entrees. I think he just wrongly assumed we would be crappy customers because we were eating off the restaurant week menu. The portion sizes were pretty terrible as well. They brought our steaks out on what appeared to be humongous plates because the portion was so small. We got about 4 tiny fingerling potatoes hiding under each of our steaks. No garnish on the plate whatsoever. No green vegetables with our steaks, just 4 tiny potatoes. The Caesar salad was all iceberg, though the actual dressing (that I had to ask for more of because there was hardly any on the actual salad) was pretty tasty. The entire outside of our steaks were burnt, but the cook inside the steak was perfect, if you could get past the burnt outside that is. The crackerjack Sunday that my husband ordered was good. My cookie and vanilla milkshake was just a weird dessert in my opinion. It was just one cookie on a plate next to a half empty glass with a super soupy "milkshake". I saw some pictures of this same dessert others have posted and it looks like they got two cookies and a full glass of a milkshake because they ordered off the regular menu. If you are going to cut down your portions for restaurant week, that is fine, but they should probably serve their stuff on smaller plates and in smaller glasses so they don't appear so cheap. Super bummed that our one night away from the baby was such a disappointment. No way we will be going back to this restaurant again. read more

How in the world does a steakhouse charge $60+ for a cut of meat but not give you the cut they're charging you for? I'm flabbergasted. When the server was asked, "is it policy to provide the bone with a Bone-in ribeye?" I like coming to the bar and eating dinner. The restaurant has a lot of great things going for it. The service staff is great. When I have come with a group and we get a table the service is great. The service at the bar is great. I am always surprised how empty the the place gets after 7 7:30 but in reality your not coming for the amazing food. Every time there is an issue. Pepper in my Caesar Salad, ordering My steak med and comes out rare, same thing happened tonight with the lamb chops. I think they get away with poor quality because they don't get people complaining about it or they don't know better or there they are trashed. Every now then you will get a meal that's great. But it's like playing blackjack you don't get 21 every deal, but here you should. But the best thing going is the service providers especially the bartenders. Alyssa and Kim, where very helpful tonight. It is not the first time I have had them at the bar and they are very understanding with quality issues of the food. If I owned a restaurant I would want them on my team. Maybe they can become personal trainers and work at my gym. read more

I love the Tribeca American Cut. My favorite NYC steakhouse. The Atlantic City version however is just not the same. Different meat distributer (waiter told us) is the problem. No Waggu and bone in ribeye that was 1/2 thick you could buy at a grocery store for 15 bucks. Spinach cold came out twice they gave up. The steak tartare had no taste. What an amazing meal my husband and I had last night ! We were so lucky for the excellent service Juan gave us .. Very attentive didn't want for anything ! The bread is amazing homemade buttermilk biscuits with the topping of an everything bagel on the side and vegetable whipped butter! Addictive ! Started of with the fresh light oysters with bakes truffle fontina cream yum ! Also the tuna tartar with crispy layers of wonton avacado and just the right amount of citrus. My husband also got the steak tartare witch he loved. We decided to split the tomahawk for two . What a show the flambé the garlic butter in front of you than slice your steak . We went to dinner on a Saturday night to celebrate my brother's girlfriend's 30th birthday. I was immediately put off when we arrived at the restaurant with my 10-month-old son and were told they have no highchairs. Luckily, we had my son in his infant seat and he was asleep so we kept him in that the entire time... but I also observed another family with a baby who was sitting in a highchair. So obviously they did have highchairs, maybe only one? There were at least 4 other tables with babies. I suggest the restaurant invest in some highchairs since people on vacation down the shore are often in big groups/with family and it's not uncommon to bring babies! When we were seated at our table, I noticed there were only white napkins. I asked the waiter if they had black napkins since I was wearing a black dress, and he looked at me like I had 7 heads. If you are going to hold yourself out as a high end, fancy restaurant that doesn't even have highchairs because they don't want babies... perhaps you should have black napkins so people wearing black clothing don't end up covered in white fuzz from the crappy white napkins! Next, our water was poured into our wine glasses... which was interesting... The appetizers/salads were phenomenal. I ordered the beets, and the rest of my family ordered the caesar salad. My husband (who LOVES caesar salads and orders them everywhere) said it was the best caesar salad he ever ate. For entrees, I ordered the filet mignon, my husband ordered the pastrami steak, both were "meh", nothing special. My mom ordered the tuna and loved it, and my dad had the halibut and loved it. For a steak restaurant, I was surprised that the fish entrees were better than the steaks. When we made the reservation, they asked if it was for any special occasion and we let them know it was for a 30th birthday. However, when the desert that we ordered came out, there was no candle or mention of any birthday. This was disappointing. My mother was so annoyed that she requested the waiter go back and get a candle anyway. Why did they even bother to ask if they didn't intend to do anything? Overall, our meal was fine. But I won't be rushing to get back there. I understand it is new (well, it was open when Revel was there), and maybe has some kinks to work out, but still. If you are spending a lot of money on dinner, you expect to have a wonderful experience from the atmosphere to the food and everything in between. This is a very bad restaurant! Do not go here. The seafood tower was not freash. The clams and oysters were fishy and filled with sand. The other items on the tower were heavily sauced and not freash especially the lobster. The tuna tartar was bland and yet again not freash. We ordered the porterhouse steak and the ribeye both rare..... both were cooked medium well and not seasoned at all. The ribeye was sent back and a new steak came out moments later and that was cooked medium. Im not sure how you can make a pastrami encrusted steak taste so bland but they did. Started with a seafood tower for two which was more than enough and could probably have fed three or four actually. Then went on to a 40 ounce Tomahawk steak which was perfectly cooked with a side of a bacon Hickory macaroni and cheese which was out of control delicious. We had a great experience here this summer. Ribeye was cooked perfectly for my husband, and I had a delicious scallop dish with a unique sauce originated by the chef. The service was spot on... our waiter had an awesome, outgoing personality. He made great food and wine suggestions, and was attentive. Would definitely recommend. read more
