    Empty tables 45 minutes later

Walked up at 11:50 for lunch today. There were at least 8 tables open near the bar and 15 tables open near the course. The man asked if we were staying in the hotel, when we said no, he said they couldn't get us a table for 30 plus minutes. I looked around at all the empty tables and said goodbye. Why run off a paying customer??? No customer service! Go elswhere

I'm shocked at the overall reviews. This was a 5 star all the way experience for us. You can't beat the amazing views. Sitting outdoors by the fireplace while overlooking the gorgeous ocean is beyond words. Yes, it's pricey and we expected that. We were celebrating a birthday and they took good care of us. It was also great to see so many dogs on the property. We will definitely be back!

Ocean Terrace at the Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay is one of those places that never disappoints. The setting alone is breathtaking -- perched right above the ocean with sweeping coastal views that instantly slow you down. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a drink, light bites, and take in a classic view. The menu is well-curated with fresh, flavorful options that pair beautifully with their cocktails and wine selection. Everything we ordered was thoughtfully prepared and presented, and the service was attentive without feeling intrusive -- exactly what you'd expect from the Ritz-Carlton. Posting updated menu pictures. Whether you're celebrating something special or just want a relaxed coastal experience with impeccable ambiance, Ocean Terrace is always a great choice. Highly recommend for sunset lovers, date nights, or visitors looking for that quintessential Half Moon Bay experience. Note : Only Valet parking provided/ allowed. Fee is $35 You can pay separately or add to your restaurant bill.

Ocean Terrace is an eatery that sits downstairs at the Ritz Carlton. It is truly an amazing place and we have eaten here many times. The service here is first class, as expected for the Ritz Carlton brand. The food is delicious as are the drinks, although it could be considered expensive depending on your price point.

Review for the drinks and the view. Requested the bartender to make a non-alcoholic drink alcoholic and an alcoholic drink wimpy for a lightweight. The bartender did not disappoint. Pretty good fancy drinks. The price reflects the fanciness and the views.

The view at the Ritz-Carlton is unbeatable! With shaded terrace seating around the coastal golf course, the ocean breeze keeps things cool--though don't forget your sunblock! Friendly and attentive servers provide first-class service, and the seafood is fresh and flavorful. Only valet parking is available, so drive directly to the front entrance. They'll even charge your EV while you dine!

Great place to eat lobster roll and clam chowder overlooking the golf course with an ocean view! Service was efficient, friendly and very personable.

Humbled to have had the opportunity to have lunch outdoors on a sunny day at the Ocean Terrace after working here earlier in the day. As one would expect, presentation and service were Ritz-Carlton quality. Choices for lunch are limited but understandable and was disappointed that they do not serve French Fries at the OT since the local fire department will not issue a permit unless you have a fire suppression system for outdoors for the fryer. In any event, a solid 4 Stars for the overall experience.

We stayed at the Ritz for an art auction event (shout out to Park West). We had a couple hours to kill so we decided to grab a quick bite for a late lunch. First off, you should wait to get seated. Some people were just making themselves comfortable in front of the fireplace. We ordered: - Crab and artichoke dip with sourdough instead of chips. Very generous amount of crab however, the dip itself tasted bland. - clam chowder - decent bowl of clam chowder - kids grilled salmon - it was cooked fine but could you use a lemon wedge or some sauce. Chips were good The oyster bar looked good and so did the hot chocolate that many other people were ordering. Service: I asked for fresh ground pepper for the clam chowder, and they just handed me grounded pepper from a different table. Though I understand that it could be a distance to the kitchen, but for the amount that you're paying, they need to add more staff. Our server was nice but the service was extremely slow. My son did didn't get his chocolate milk that came with the kids meal until he was finished with his meal. Obviously the view was amazing, but considering that it was December, it was quite windy and cold and there weren't any heat lamps available near us either. I can imagine a better experience in the spring or summer.

We came here for lunch on a really beautiful Saturday! Service was pretty good/prompt, and the view was absolutely spectacular. The food was pretty average, especially for the price. I got a glass of prosecco while my husband got a beer. We shared the soft pretzel and king salmon poke bowl and both were ok. The pretzel was good, but neither of us liked the mustard on the side. The king salmon poke bowl was very average, definitely wouldn't return for it. Really, the view makes the experience here! When they found out we were celebrating my birthday, they were so kind to bring out a beautiful complementary pumpkin tart dessert which was delicious!

Expensive menu to be frank, but the ambiance on a sunny day can't be beat. We ordered the seafood tower and shared it amongst 3 of us as a pre-dinner bite. We also got some beers, cocktails, and Diet Coke. It's a lovely time eating fresh seafood and watching the golfers finish their 18th hole. I'm longing to return!

I have mixed feelings about this place (as seen by my individual ratings below). As a whole, that atmosphere is lovely and is a MUST EXPERIENCE. This is a great place for a date or to celebrate an anniversary, a place to bring your parents, or a nice place to relax and enjoy the amazing scenery. This is the type of place you MUST TRY ONCE, or come back once a year and is definitely not your everyday type of place; here is why: Scenery: 10/5 if possible. Even when gloomy, the sounds of the waves and the cool ocean breeze is amazing. You get to overlook the 18th green and see golfers finish. If you come at the right time, you will hear someone playing the bagpipes, giving it the highlands feel. Food: 4/5. Taking price out of consideration, the food here is good. The crab and artichoke dip is a must have, the oysters were surprisingly fresh and cleaned well. I would pass on the clam chowder. The drinks are also amazing but the hot chocolate is definitely the way to go (not on the menu when we went). They have a great selection of wines by the glass and bottle and a great selection of cocktails. Service: 3/5. The staff are SUPER friendly. Just as you would expect at a Ritz. However, it is a bit slow, either due to being understaffed or just the sheer distance between all the different outdoor table areas. If you are patient and not in a hurry, this won't be a problem. Just make sure to flag down your waiter when you are ready to order anything! PRICE: 2/5. This is where the near 3 star rating probably comes from. You pay an arm, leg, and maybe a liver to eat here. You are essentially paying for the view and atmosphere. The food and service itself at any other establishment would not be worth it. Note: make a reservation online! When we arrived on a Saturday afternoon, the wait was approx. 40 minutes. With the online reservation, they do take a deposit, but that is returned to your credit card upon checkin. TLDR: I would HIGHLY recommend if visiting the area. This, to me, is a place that people must experience at least once! If price is a factor, order a couple of apps and drinks during the middle of the day (i.e. don't eat a full meal) just to enjoy the scenery. If you are lucky, experiencing the sunset here would be amazing!!

Took my dad here for his bday and the hostesses Mikayla was so friendly. I had actually made an error on the reservation and she went ahead and took care of it with no hesitation. We ordered lattes, hot chocolate, chips and guacamole, pretzels and the tastiest IPA. The kids also enjoyed the experience and the view was amazing. The service was good and the food was very tasty. The Bday dessert was this amazing chocolate mousse with some sort of crunch. Finn at valet was so kind and went out of his way to wish my dad a happy birthday and to take care of us. Cant wait to come back!

I found Barbara's on Yelp--solid 4-star rating, good reviews, so we decided to give it a try. We arrived and were told there was about a 20-minute wait, which felt reasonable for a weekend seafood spot. Once we were seated, things started off fine, but the experience quickly became a bit frustrating. There seemed to be a breakdown in communication with our server regarding our order. We placed everything clearly, but when the food came out, it wasn't what we had ordered. Instead of just clarifying or correcting it, we were told the order had been placed incorrectly on our side and were asked to reorder. Unfortunately, we were also still charged for the original order, which made the situation feel even more confusing. We also ordered the clam chowder, which was honestly disappointing. From the very first spoonful to the last, there was a consistent gritty, sandy texture that made it difficult to enjoy at all. It took away from what is usually a comfort dish, especially in a coastal town where you expect it to shine. On a positive note, our timing coincided with sunset, and the view from the window was absolutely stunning. Watching the sun dip over the water while dining added a really beautiful moment to the experience, and the scenery itself was honestly the highlight of the visit. The setting itself is nice and the location is convenient if you're exploring Half Moon Bay, but based on our experience, the execution on both service and food quality didn't match the expectations set by the rating. Overall, it felt like a missed opportunity. With a bit more attention to order accuracy and consistency in the kitchen, this place could easily live up to its Yelp reputation--but unfortunately, that wasn't our experience that day.

You are allowed to order two items at a time during the 90 minute brunch portion. You then have 30 minutes for the dessert items, though the waiter did say we could order more brunch items during that time too. I maxed out during round 5. Round 1: The MARIN COUNTY CHEESE TASTING and the PAN SEARED SCALLOP. There were three types of cheese on the plate with some fig jam and some raisin bread. Everything was super tasty. Loved the fig jam. The scallop was very nicely cooked. Loved the truffle foam. It was supposedly polenta foam but it was very smooth and not grainy at all. Round 2: CAVATELLI and CHOCOLATE CHIP PANCAKES. I think the pasta was my favorite meal of the day. It had a great truffle and parmesan flavor. Soft pasta. Yum. The pancakes were also delicious. Nice and fluffy with melted chocolate chips. I did hold the ricotta cream from it as I know I don't like it. Round 3: LOBSTER ROLL and WAGYU BEEF SLIDER. The lobster roll was tasty but messy. I don't like caviar so I had that held. The slider was very tasty. The sauce on it was a bit too BBQ-sauce flavor for me but overall not a bad bite. Round 4: I did the ORGANIC MAITAKE MUSHROOM and another scallop. The mushrooms were super flavorful. Loved the crispy rice puffs on them. Round 5: I just did on plate - the BELGIAN WAFFLES. I loved the waffles. Crispy outside, soft inside. Warm apples on top and a big dollop of whipped cream. Yum! Dessert: There were carrot cakes, coconut macaroons, strawberry shortcakes and a chocolate pistachio balls. I only add the carrot cake there and took the rest home for later. The staff was very good. Always taking away empty plates and refilling drinks and water. A splurge of a meal but worth it for good food and service.

At almost $200 pp, we went in wanting to make sure we could order as much as we could during the time limit of the unlimited brunch. However, we didn't have to worry - the service was so fast, that by the end we were well stuffed that the time restraint was moot. Each person can order 2 dishes at a time, and we had the chance to cover everything we wanted to try off the menu and order our favorites multiple times. Some highlights were definitely the scallop and lamb (even as non-lamb lover). The salad also surprisingly stood out, it was really great to eat this paired with the seafood/meats especially towards the end of the meal. I also really enjoyed trying the different caviars, and always love a solid wagyu slider. Only wished they had cornichons to pair with the slider, but appreciate that the staff tried to find pickles for us in the kitchen. The meal ended with a afternoon tea tower of pastries, which we were at that point way too stuffed to take in. The one pastry I tried though, was really delicious, not too sweet. All in all, 10/10 experience. The cherry on top was the complimentary champagne for our celebration! Truly a splendid experience.

Probably on most days, parking wouldn't be as much of a challenge. However, today, and probably over the past few days, repaving, oil sealing and restriping of the parking lot reduced parking by no more than 25% but created havoc on traffic flow by 200%. Once we got parked, we walked to the restaurant. There was no parking in front of the restaurant due to the restriping. We had to sit outside because we had our dog with us. Fortunately, the area near where we were sitting had already been oil sealed, otherwise we would have left due to the smell. The hostess was kind enough to bring water to us and our dog. The menu is kind of a mess. We were handed three. Two were the same and the third contained "new items". They need to consolidate the menus in a way that makes sense, so similar dishes won't be found in different places. On one of the menus, I saw Roti with a Chicken and Onion Yellow Curry offered as an Appetizer. That was the only Roti that I saw. What was delivered to the table was Roti with a small saucer of Sweetened Condense Milk. Not even close to what I had been expecting. I didn't complain because the Roti itself was good. We just didn't use the Sweetened Condensed Milk. When I asked about it at the end of our meal, it turns out that they offer three different Roti dishes. The one that I expected, the one that I got and one with Massamun Curry that I could not remember seeing on the menu. The dish that my wife ordered was out of stock so she made an impromptu change at the suggestion of the server to a Egg Noodle in Yellow Curry Dish which I can't seem to find in the online menus on yelp. Service was good in that they checked on us fairly frequently. We know that it's tough running a small business and menu changes help to drive the business volume and can keep customers returning. But, at the same time, the menu has to be intuitive and user friendly. Roti with Sweetened Condensed Milk - 4 - I asked and was told that they do not make the Roti in house. That's too bad because I'm a huge fan of Roti Telur with Egg. What they served filled the bill when I dipped it in my wife's Curry Sauce. The Sweetened Condensed Milk turns Roti into a dessert when what I was looking for was an appetizer. Pad See Ew - 3 - The noodles were fine and I really appreciated the Chinese Broccoli (Gai Lan) over the more common American Broccoli. The sauce was a bit sweeter than I expected. I was pleasantly surprised to find a total of 7 shrimp in the dish, especially when the dish was $12 + $3 for the shrimp. Egg Noodles in Yellow Curry with Chicken - 3 - The Sauce was very thin, but the flavor was really good and came in handy for dipping the Roti. She said that she wished that there had been more noodles. In general, the pricing seems to be pretty inexpensive. I don't remember seeing that different proteins had different prices and that could cause problems in the future. Many other restaurants will list the price for the basic dish and then show the add-on price for the various proteins. When we got our check, we were given the wrong check and the difference in price was nearly double. I was told that the Point of Sales software will not allow them to put Table Numbers on the checks and that they have to look at each check to ensure each table receives the correct check. It appears that they've been open for just over one year. The people are very nice. The prices are quite reasonable. The flavors could just be a personal thing, but I can only rate based on my experience and preferences just like anyone else. I would consider returning when in the area. Next time, I would pay more exacting attention to the menus to ensure that what I received was what i wanted.
