We are a group of between 20 and 50 that meets at the Oceanside Broiler once a month. Always very accommodating with enough notice (1.5 weeks +). Great service, good pours on the drinks at good prices with a wide selection, and good food. They also separate the tickets. Only request would be that they allow us to be seated on either of the patios or overlooking the Harbor. Otherwise, love the place. Went here for Sunday brunch and it was fantastic! Champagne brunch with a view of the harbor was an excellent way to spend a Sunday morning/ afternoon. Brunch is served from 10am to 2pm. It was buffet style with an assortment of breakfast items and an impressive array of seafood (I don't eat seafood but members of my party do). There was a small dessert area with whipped cream too, which I used for my french toast. The kids seemed to really enjoy the small chocolate fountain paired with fresh fruit. I am a fan of bottomless mimosas, however that is not offered here. They do however offer $6 bottles of champagne and have juice at the brunch buffet. The food was excellent and I didn't miss the bottomless mimosas due to the convenience of having the bottle at the table. My party went through about 4 bottles which was actually less expensive than most "bottomless" deals out there. While we had a great time, I do have to say the service wasn't that great. You don't really notice during brunch because you can get up and move about on your own schedule but when our champagne ran out, and dirty plates piled up we noticed that no one was really checking in or coming by. We haven't been to this waterside eatery in a few years, but did take out from there today after we rented a boat. The salmon cake with curry remoulade was delicious as was the Mahi Mahi taco plate that my husband ordered. The kids really enjoyed the fresh fruit and French fries that came with their mini cheeseburgers. Allie was super polite when she took my phone order and Courtney had my order ready to go when we arrived. Aaron, the manager, was also very helpful. I felt comfortable getting food from this restaurant during the pandemic since it was a VERY clean establishment. Also, there were limited people dining inside the restaurant, with more than enough space between the booths. I have been here several times and never had a problem. This time I told them that I was lactose intolerant (newly diagnosed). Everything was fine until I ordered regular fries and was talked into the truffle fries by our server, Melissa. When it arrived I started eating and noticed what looked like parmigiana cheese on the top. We were reassured by our server before ordering that there was no dairy in this order. We brought it to her attention after it arrived and I had some. She said, Oh yes they it some parmigiana on the top. Are you kidding? This is totally unacceptable. Really disappointing price to product, avoid the King crab dish $39+ for two half legs, you can go a 100 yards East to Joes Crab shack and get at least a full half rack. Over all, the food was small portions, the swordfish describes a steak but present a flap of meat. The entire meal was under seasoned or no seasoning at all. Just overall disappointed for price and product, I'd have been better served going to any of the numerous seafood places within walking distance. Great value for your money! We have visited this great place several times when we visit this area. Shaun (the Bartender) has waited on us several times and has always provided us with "World Class" Service! We always dine in the bar for the Happy Hour menu which has everything that you could ask for and the quality of the happy hour menu is superb. Shaun suggested the French Dip today which is not on the happy hour menu and we are so glad we ordered Shaun's recommendation because it was the best French Dip ever! Very disappointing for happy hour. If you're looking for a good happy hour value with food and drinks....This is not it. The ridiculous pricing for happy hour is unacceptable. Also, the five dollar happy hour mai tai is small and practically has no alcohol in it whatsoever. The large shrimp cocktail has four small to medium size shrimp and that will cost you seven dollars. Prices for their happy hour is laughable. If this place were not nicely located on the water in the harbor it would be out of business in a week. Dined at the Oceanside Broiler for lunch today. The food and drinks were good. However as is typical for this restaurant their appetizers, salads and main courses all came out at the same time. Consequently you tend to eat only the main entree and if you are able to take the other items home I guess it's tolerable. But if you are visiting for the day you have most likely blown a lot of money on food that will just get thrown in the trash. Great food, amazing view, and commendable decor in this restaurant. My company and I came in on a Wednesday afternoon. The restaurant is very big, and we were seated next to a window seat. We ordered our drinks and food at the same time. Service was a little slow, but very hospitable. I ordered the belching beaver beer, which was a very dark ale and Very delicious! It complemented the Cioppino like tea and biscuits. The clam chowder was one of the best Ive had, paired with amazing garlic toast. What I've realized in Oceanside is that The Oceanside Broiler actually cares about customer service and quality. Once again, treated like royalty. This time we ordered the short rib, mash potatoes and subbed the asparagus for green beans to go. It was just as good at home. Served perfectly heated with warm bread and butter and omg the short rib was fantabulous and a must!! The service is impeccable. From the hostess, bartenders, servers, the Chefs and then of course the management that always touches every table even when they are so busy or if it's a Togo order. Integrity at its finest! A party of 6 of us came in on Thursday night and we were greeted nicely, right away and ushered to a nice booth with a view of the harbor. Greeters were great! We had incredible appetizers, including a delicious calamari and coconut shrimp. Our waitress was INCREDIBLE too, super patient, kind and attentive. Her name was Rachel. We had a problem with one meal of the 6, the ahi dinner. The ahi and all the sides arrived pretty cold and the vegetables were undercooked as well. My adult daughter was disappointed and we told our waitress after dinner (she ate barely even two bites of her entire meal). We didn't mention it earlier because we shared our various dishes with her instead of trying to wait for another plate to arrive. Rachel handled it excellently. She apologized and said she would take it off the bill. The manager was attentive and came right over to discuss the issue as well. I think that shows he does care. The only advice I have for him is not to question a patron in the way he did. He basically questioned her decision not to complain. Told her what she should have done (told someone immediately and they would bring a new one out) instead of simply saying I'm sorry, as we believe he should have done. So, to the manager: There is a flow to a meal that would have been unpleasantly interrupted / delayed if we had flagged down the server and had to order a new plate. My daughter chose to eat with the rest of the group by sharing what they had. That is a customer's prerogative and that should have never been questioned, as you had done. When you order a $35 dollar plate, you expect perfection. We work hard for our money and going out for dinner is a treat. A manager's lesson on how to properly return your undercooked/cold meal is not what we had expected and it was an unpleasant moment at the table. Luckily the rest of the experience was EXCELLENT! We will come back again because we have confidence minor improvements will be made for those inevitable occasions when something from the kitchen isn't quite up to the customer's expectations. We are frequent visitors of Oceanside, usually coming down 4 times a year. Today we chose the Oceanside Broiler. We made reservations at 630pm and when we walked in on time we were seated immediately. Our server was Ivanna. She is very well spoken, was in a great mood, and immediately gave a compliment on a perfume which was a great introduction on her part. She was attentive and patient with us as we asked questions about the menu. We have been in Oceanside for a few days eating out and this is hands down the best experience we have had here thus far. Ivanna made sure we were taken care of the entire time and she is probably the best server we have experienced. Oh and by the way the food was pretty amazing too. I'll attach a pic. Most WONDERFUL dinner in years!! Would go back in a heartbeat!!! Fantastic! Spoke with the general manager, Warren, on the phone and he was extremely friendly as we made our reservation. We are In town from MN for a DA soccer tournament. We sat in Sean's section, near the bar, and he was attentive, very quick to offer menu suggestions and was on top of everything! We never sat there long without Sean asking if we needed anything. Sean was very personable! The servers in the restaurant were happy to be there! We noticed the staff treated the customers as well as they treated one another. The restaurant was extremely clean. The food was AMAZING! We ordered the Alaskan King crab legs and the Coconut crusted salmon. I cannot say enough positive things about the taste and presentation of the food. We ordered the coconut shrimp as our appetizer and that was the beginning of a top food experience for us. We had the pleasure of meeting the chef, Thomas, as well. Thomas came out of the kitchen to speak with us and recommended some of the best items on the menu. Thomas was excited about the food and wanted to help make our experience memorable. IT WAS! Thank you Warren, Thomas and Sean for the incredible service and food!!! We finished the meal with the bread pudding and it was a perfect compliment to the seafood we enjoyed. My wife and I tried this place after receiving coupons in the mail for this place and the Jolly Roger. We love going to the Jolly Roger and figured this place would offer a change of pace but a similar experience. Unfortunately, that didn't turn out to be the case. The food was similar but the service was lacking. My wife ordered the salmon and I ordered the coconut shrimp, because they're our favorites at the Jolly Roger. Unfortunately, our waitress disappeared on us without a trace, left us without refilling our drinks (and I actually had to go search for someone else to assist us), our food took forever to get to us, and it was bland and disappointing. I'm sure that after spending $1 million dollars to revamp this and reopen it you are hoping for a good rate of return...after all that is what business is about. Well I have to say the Sunday brunch was disappointing. For a $24 buffet that doesn't include the champagne it needs to knock the socks off me. Quite frankly El Torito does a better buffet brunch. The good news it is all fixable. Here are my recommendations: Plates need to be warm. Nothing worse than cold plates on the buffet line. Food needs to be kept hotter on the buffet line. I arrived at 10am right when opening so things should be hot and fresh. Here is what I sampled: Nachos...cold Cesar salad, very good, one of the highlights Clam chowder, luke warm almost not edible due to the cold temperature Macaroni and cheese...processed cheese nothing special. (my tip on mac and cheese: if you aren't doing it homemade with real cheese, leave it off the line) Hash browns, cold Angel hair pasta herbed and with chicken (I tried both, it was good and flavorful) Eggs Benedict with Crab....eggs barely warm but good flavor Tilapia and Salmon both excellent. (as to be expected) Carving station, cold meat...nothing there to keep it warm. Lamp?? something? Champagne very cold which is good and $6 for the bottle which is a deal. Desserts, creme brulee was store bought, come on guys for this class of restaurant it should be fresh homemade. Cookies were good, Overall my experience was just blah. I have been to the brunch here before the name change and remodel, and it was wonderful, multiple tables of fresh seafood, omelet stations, carving stations, and table upon table of freshly made deserts. Went to the serving line and it was maybe five tables of food, went looking for the other tables when I came to the sad realization that this was it. Sausage tray empty, bacon tray empty, gravy (biscuits and gravy) empty, and they stood this way for well over twenty minutes. Carving station could not find any medium rare on the prime rib, it looked like shoe leather, but then that's not really fair to shoe leather. Did I mention there were only about 35 people in the newly remodeled restaurant? I had one plate. All seafood was not fresh, but frozen. You know where this restaurant is located don't ya? That's right, on the bay! The sushi/sashimi was gas station convenience store grade. I had nine year olds that wouldn't even eat the deserts. Did I mention there were only around 35 people in the place? And the management, invisible, they let the staff take the brunt of their complete incompetence to effective run this pathetic operation. Four of us went to the Oceanside Broiler the first weekend they opened which might explain the experience. We went on the first Saturday at 6:00pm (so pretty early!). The remodel looks wonderful, but the food & service are pretty terrible. We ordered quite a bit of food which was all decent: black mussels w/ fries, grilled fish taco, crab & avocado wontons, caesar salad, oysters on ice. But, we also ordered the calamari tempura which was not properly battered and the crab & artichoke bisque which was way too salty & looked like mud. We tried to oder the ahi hand roll and their new england clam chowder, but they had run out! I heard the bartender explain to one of the servers they had also run out of fruit for the cocktails. I'm guessing the restaurant is not well managed to run out of so many items. Also, I had asked if we could have a side of their sourdough bread twice. It looked delicious & the table next to us had just been served two loaves. Our server forgot it the first & second time I asked & then finally brought bread pudding because she said they had just run out of bread. I'm not sure if she just forgot or what happened. First off, let me just say this has been my only one star review that I have ever left for a brewery/restaurant. Where should I begin? My family and I decided to come in on Sunday (2/15/2015) for a nice meal to celebrate a late Valentines Day. We walked in at 1:40pm and I read a sign saying that they were serving full menu after the brunch buffet at 2:00pm. My family and I all agreed to order some bar food until 2. At 2 I asked our waitress for the full menu and she snobbishly insisted that they didn't serve full menu until 3:00pm. We were semi distraught, but decided to live with it and ordered a couple round of drinks and some finger foods. This is where my 1 star review begins... After 20 minutes or so, we started to notice full menu items being delivered to other tables. I asked my waitress if we could see the full menu and she still insisted that it was only brunch buffet hours. I then talked to the manager who called her out on her lack of knowledge. The service was simply terrible. The portions are laughable. The general knowledge of the menu is appalling. We will never come here again. I've honestly seen McDonald's with more service and compassion. I have never been so disgusted in my life.
