I went to Oddfellows for the first time this morning around 1030a. Not all the tables were occupied, but I agreed to sit at the bar as I was alone and it was nearing lunch. The mustachioed greeter then pointed me in that direction. After seating myself I sat and waited about 5 minutes without being approached, offered a menu or a glass of water. I stood, replaced my stool and walked out. I found another place (Norma's) further up on Davis. There was a slight wait when we arrived but placed our name on the list and wandered around the area and grabbed a drink while we waited. I highly recommend the deviled eggs, had a nice taste to them and sweet after taste. The odd fashioned wasn't very good but the other alcohol infused coffee drinks were very good. The decor was cute but the seating was a bit strange. The booth half of us were in had an odd lean so it felt like you were leaning over the table. I loved the fried green tomatoes last time so I decided to get that appetizer. I've never seen nor realized tomato's could be cut so thin and fried to mimic jerky! Never had a fried green tomato crunchy like a cracker. I was disappointed they were like chips and only come with 4 for the price. The smoke and mirrors cocktail however were excellent! Definitely won't be back. I didn't enjoy the loud overcrowded vibe. A place that busy should definitely have more then one restroom. The tip scale starts at 18% and goes up but you can customize it if you don't want to give that or more. I customized it to 15%. You shouldn't have people who aren't friendly as bartender's if your expectations are for the customer to start out at what you consider the bare minimum in my opinion and I'm speaking having been a beertender and then manager in a brewery. read more

I went here on a first date and it was a very interesting experience. The waiter was EXTREMELY nice. We asked for his recommendations and he mentioned the fried green tomatoes so we tried them and honestly they were the worst I've ever had. No seasoning whatsoever and we asked what they were fried in and they mentioned breadcrumbs which is odd because living in the south you know you have to use flour in order for it to come out really good. The place has so much potential, but I've visited twice recently and it's simply not worth the time and money. On my most recent visit I place a simple order for 3 appetizers and 2 entrees. Upon arrival we were greeted by a kind host and sat immediately. This is quite rare but the restaurant wasn't that busy at the time we went. The host informed us that our server would be right with us. I noticed that when he said this, our actual server made eye contact with our table from a distance (HE SAW US) and ignored us for about 15mins. He literally walked passed us a few times and it almost seemed like he was purposely not trying to make eye contact. The host saw that we had been waiting a while and was gracious enough to to bring us some water and took our drink orders. About 15mins later, the actual server came to take our order for appetizers. When taking our order it seemed like we were being rushed to make a decision. In fact, he kept saying "ok great" and kept proceeding to walk away while we were still ordering. A while after we had our appetizers, we wanted to order entrees. We waited for a long while for him to return, and while we were waiting, we noticed he had stopped to have a popsicle. We were waiting to order food and him and the host were having a frickn popsicle. By all means take your breaks but DUDE we are literally sitting here and can see you having a popsicle and texting. A while after this im annoyed and just want to order food. We place an order for salmon toast with an over easy egg, and a salad. When the food arrived, the egg were not over easy. We flagged down the host AGAIN because our server had gone outside for a while. We politely asked for another order so that we could get an over easy egg for the salmon toast. About 10mins-15mins later, they brought out a saucer with an egg. I was quite shocked that they would not redo the entire dish. What kinda of restaurant thinks it's ok to serve guests seafood and let it sit, and not offer to remake their entire order? Because we are not wasteful, and against our better judgment with ate the salmon toast. We have felt sick ever since. When the server came to us with the check, he did not apologize for any inconvenience, but he did seem to all of a sudden started talking to us and tried to make friendly conversation after treating us awful the entire time. So awkward. If I were not kind, I would not have tipped him anything. I would have asked for the manager and walked out. The food was not spectacular, and the service made the entire experience worse. What a waste of $80+ I never enjoy writing negative reviews but I feel like when we sat down, they way our server looked at us when we arrived was that of someone who thought we weren't going to be good tippers so he gave us crappy service. Never prejudge people. You never know who people are, and what kind of influence they have. People should always be met with kindness and professionalism. Management needs to be much more present and aware. The other server that was working with other table was not only giving her guest amazing service, she was ALSO bartending with a smile and was much more attentive. This would be a great place if the service was good. But be prepared to wait a long time during busy brunch times. I personally wouldn't recommend this place to people with sophisticated pallets. Came today around 11 for brunch. Wasn't as busy as I was prepared for 15-30 min wait for I forra no wait for outdoors. We waited about 20 min and got sat inside. Service was a little slow. I started with their rambler martini, took about 15 min to come out and it wasn't very good. Super strong vodka taste. For food we got the French toast, a side pancake and a side of biscuits and gravy. The pancake and French toast were good nothing crazy. The biscuit and gravy was great! What a unique spot to have Saturday or Sunday brunch. This restaurant has an "odd" menu of breakfast plus dinner items. An atmosphere that is part bohemian hangout and part small town diner. The hospitality is good but not over the top. The location is great for people watching. Has a sidewalk sit down bar which is kinda cool, there's parking nearby for $10 valet but if you're in the area it's best to walk. If you ride a bike here and check-in on Yelp you can get 10% off your meal just FYI. Food: I went for brunch and got the odd fellows Benedict with a mocha coffee and pineapple mimosa carafe. The food overall was pretty good and the coffee was great. Only downfall of the food options was that my mimosa glass smelled heavily of wet dog (meaning it wasn't washed properly). Service: nothing special really. Didn't have silverware when the food came out but everyone was friendly. Service is fairly quick though. In sum, I'd consider this a run of the mill brunch spot that's slightly overpriced (Carafe of mimosa = $22; one mimosa glass = $8; eggs Benedict = $15 [which I was fine with]). The price of the drinks is commensurate to what I'd pay in LA and I know you can get a mimosa at some places nearby this location for half the price and just as good. Nothing terribly negative to say, other than washing the dishes better. Otherwise, the food was good and the location is convenient since it's near a lot of other intriguing shops to walk around. So I'm on day 3 after getting my wisdom teeth removed & today is the day to chew ! How ironic that's it's Sunday & it's time to brunch in this perfect weather. Since Jonathan's wait was quite long I decided to hop on Yelp's waitlist for Oddfellows. I arrived around 11:50am & was seated at 12:01pm, not too shabby for a busy place. I was only able to have some ice cold water because I had every intention on taking my pain medicine after eating lol. Although I hope to come back & give their cocktails a try. I explained my situation to the waitress & she recommended I try their breakfast scramble to have some nice soft bites. Breakfast Scramble -- Delicious! The potatoes were just right not too hard not too soft. I wasn't able to eat the bacon but it did give some nice flavor. Although I was only able to eat about a corner of the food at the time, it tasted just as good later on for dinner. It also came with a side of fresh flour tortillas & some salsa verde.
