Went to the Metro Diner looking for a cheap breakfast, only discovering that prices had been raised. While ordering, the waitress told me that my order doesn't come with hash browns, which I realized was removed after looking at other reviews. Upon receiving my order, this was the food that presented to me, finding it to be significantly smaller than last time. With me still needing to ask for syrup since there was none there. This including a coffee brought my total to $16.57, making me realize I could have gone the better diner known as Normas for the same price.

So Waffle House opened in 1955. Metro Diner opened in 1964. So maybe the original owner went to a WH and got inspired, or maybe not, but MD has the same vibe. Waitress was friendly and explained the menu choices since it was my 1st time in. I stayed true to my breakfast routine of grits w/ cheese, bacon and an English muffin. And coffee. The back of their shirts say," we serve our coffee as strong as our attitude" and i believe it. Food, service and ambience were spot on. So if you're a WH fan, you'll love this place. Later.

Decided to take my nieces to breakfast here to celebrate school being over (18months to 6yo). We piled into a booth and proceeded to order a good portion of the menu--omelet, french toast, regular toast, biscuits, pancakes, T-bone, scrambled eggs, etc. Plenty of traditional diner fare. The cookery choices on the steak were "medium well" and "well done", I chose the former but got the latter. Eggs were ok, biscuits a bit burnt, but otherwise everything else was pretty unremarkable. The kids enjoyed all of their meals. Service was friendly but choppy (my Spanish proficiency was as good as our waiter's English) and the high chair we asked for was not clean. Overall, though, this place was okay. Hit most of the points I'd expect for a local diner--down to the eclectic music playing--and I'll likely come here again.

Location Oak Cliff section of Dallas Parking Large open lot Service Immediate, friendly Seating Special note how incredibly clean- the booths look brand new-.well kept! Fantastic!! Menu Think neighborhood diner. It was freezing cold outside and all I wanted was a grilled cheese and veggie soup-did not disappoint and even provided a tomato in the grilled cheese! So good!! This is my husband's go to breakfast place. My husband had a burger with cheese and fresh grilled mushrooms. Summary Local always open diner spit- great food, awesome service-we will be there most days!!

If you aren't looking for anything fancy with affordable prices, then you have stepped into the right place. I will say that when we walked in we were greeted and told to sit anywhere we liked, but once we sat down getting someone to come take our order seemed to be a little challenging. We started off with some coffee (not that the menu states you are limited to two refills) and went ahead and placed our orders. It wasn't long before our food came out and I will say I personally was like meh I could have done this at home. I ordered a 3 egg cheese omelette and looking at the omelette I think that I may have been shorted an egg or two. I get this order at another spot and their omelettes are fluffy, so I was kinda expecting that. The hash brows were pale and looked like they could use a longer cook and my biscuit was ear on one side (I did hear another lady telling the server after I got my food to make sure the cooked both sides of her biscuit and I was like "ahh, that's what you are suppose to ask for"). With that said, the coffee was good, the pancake I enjoyed and wish I had just ordered a short stack of them. In a pinch, this place serves its purpose.

Good to have a juicy burger at 3:52 am.

Something about an anytime open restaurant. Kinda like a home. This is a drive through Dallas, man miles of roads.

I feel bad to change my review like that. Sat 5 am. Come with my best friend to have a quick breakfast. Looking down on the floor. Book seeing a large size Rat. A RAT. I am coming here for years. I know everyone here. And I feel awful to change my review. But something need to be done. It's a Rat right next to me by my table. Wow.

First up, the pirogies--holy moly, these little pockets of joy were just unreal. Perfectly soft, stuffed to the brim, and fried up just right. I'm pretty sure if my tasted these, she'd give a polite nod and say, "Not bad, eh?" Then came the pot roast poutine, and let me tell ya--this isn't just food, it's a life experience. You've got those crispy fries, squeaky cheese curds (as they should be, eh!), and gravy so rich it could probably pay rent in Toronto. And then--BAM--tender pot roast on top. I nearly stood up and sang "O Canada," no joke. Now the Canadian Eggs Benedict? Ohhh, beauty. The peameal bacon was thick, juicy, and cooked just right, sittin' pretty under those poached eggs with hollandaise sauce that was smoother than a fresh sheet of ice. Absolute perfection, eh. And don't even get me started on the everyday breakfast. Classic, hearty, and no funny business--just how we like it. Eggs done right, toast that actually tastes like toast (imagine that!), and portions big enough to fuel ya through a full day of shovelin' snow... or, you know, strolling around Dallas. All in all, Maple Leaf Diner absolutely crushed it. Let me tell ya, the service was so fast and smooth, I thought I was dreaming eh. Great food, friendly vibes, and enough Canadian charm to make ya wanna say "sorry" when someone else bumps into you. 10/10, would recommend--now pass the syrup, eh?

Loved the music. Located across from SMU. You have the college crowd, residents from the neighborhood, grandparents with their grandchildren, and drive thru all buzzing with conversation. I found the chicken livers lightly battered, crispy on the outside and very tender meat on the inside. Mashed potatoes, gravy, and green beans were my sides. All tasty. Add additional seasonings and pepper sauce if you prefer. Be sure to check out the banana pudding. I requested extra meringue. Dessert was made fresh and tasted great. Pick-up, drive through, or dine in. Side note: Although there is no place for a tip when paying for your order... I always leave a tip on the table or hand it to the ladies working there. Much deserved for their hard work, friendly smiles, and pleasant attitude.

They don't have bottles of ketchup because somebody's, rotten, unsupervised kid filled a ketchup bottle with crayons. UGH. Could have been a lawsuit for this diner. You now have to deal with tiny cups of ketchup for dipping. How sad. Our waitress brought us sauce, Tabasco and Louisiana sauce. Personally, we're a Cholula sauce type of family. Hopefully, they will add this choice to the menu for a table offering. Everything, we ordered to eat was delicious! Hubby had the pork chops which I thought were chicken fried steak. The coating was crisp and perfect for the 2 pork chops. He loved them! Plus the mashed potatoes were 100% real potatoes! The white gravy was great. You can also choose to have brown gravy if you like. One of our kids had catfish. Our fault for not ordering it to be crispy. No biggy, the portions are gracious. Comes with cornbread. I had the burger. You'd think at a diner it would be greasy and gross. However, far from it! The bacon was crisp and the condiments on top the burger were fresh! This place is nothing fancy. Lots of nostalgia. The food is like eating at home. They do offer a senior citizen discount! I'm sure they also offer a military discount, however I did not ask. For being a "hole in the wall" restaurant, off the beaten path, I recommend this place! My family loves these kind of restaurants. No flare, and the food is always so darn good.
