OD , aka Mikey , who is running the spot is one of the most genuine people I have crossed paths with in this lifetime . The way he is patient , kind , respectful and caring of every customer who walks in his doors is beautiful . We were passing through Gilroy on our way back to Los Ángeles and had come from celebrating my mom and her life. He had deep compassion and took the time to speak with us on a personal level and share some history about the restaurant that has been there 35 years !! The food is delicious . I recommend the biscuits and gravy , crispy bacon , and pancakes with the homemade blueberry and Carmel sauces ! Mikey shared that his wife makes all the salsas and they have some stellar chilaquiles . Everything feels homey from the service , ambiance , to the way they serve their coffee in random mugs you would find in your family's cupboards . I usually take pictures of my meals but I literally couldn't stop eating once our food arrived. Lol . Everything was hot , fresh , and felt like eating at your favorite auntie or uncles house . Wow! Looked for breakfast spots in Gilroy and saw OD's. Glad we decided on them. Sat down and immediately was asked about drinks. Tea and Coffee refilled and topped off 5 times. All of the staff worked all the tables like a team. The owner Mike (I believe) took our order. My wife wanted the french toast combo and I chose Chilaquiles. They had mild , medium and spicy salsa for the dish so he brought me samples so I could choose the heat. (Samples in the picture) . I chose the mild red with medium green on the side. The spicy was phenomenal as well for those who enjoy it fire ‍ and over easy eggs. All the salsa is made in house by the owners. Best chilaquiles I've ever had. My wife loved the fact that the syrup for the French toast is served warm and mixes with the melted butter. She had bacon and over easy eggs as well. She loved it. I visited OD Kitchen on a weekday; it wasn't too busy. The restaurant looks small from the outside but does have indoor seating. We were greeted when we walked in and told to sit where we'd like. Our server was nice, brought us menus, and took our order quickly. I was excited to try OD Kitchen because of all the good ratings and there really isn't much in Gilroy. However the food was pretty disappointing. Here's what we got and the ratings with comments: * Country Fried Steak & Eggs: 1/5 - The patty was detached from the breading and had an odd taste with a rubber-like texture. The egg, toast and country potatoes were good. * Mickey Mouse Pancake: 4/5 - Comes with whipped cream, eggs, and bacon. My toddler enjoyed it. * OD's Special: 2/5 - To be honest, when the plate arrived, it didn't look appetizing. There was a slice of square cheese melted on the top/middle of the omelet. Just a no frills home-y breakfast/lunch spot thats a must go if youre in Gilroy. Service here is amazing and fast! We got the rosebud and mushroom garlic burger with garlic fries (extra garlic of course). When my boyfriend said this is the best cheeseburger he's ever had, I believe it. The burger was cooked perfectly and the extra crunchy onions and pickles with the garlic fries completed it perfectly. My rosebud was such a big portion, potatoes perfectly crispy with the bell peppers, diced ham, eggs, and gravy! I could only finish half before needing to tap out there. Came to OD's for brunch. We went on a weekday so it wasn't too busy. The service was good. We had an attentive server who let us take our time exploring the menu. The food was made relatively quickly, which is always appreciated. I ordered the OD's special from their omelette menu. I'd rate it a 3/5. I didn't realize there was going to be cheddar cheese melted on top. I was able to take it off. Still good. The country potatoes were good too. Stopped in for an indulgent breakfast on our way down to LA for a fun getaway weekend. I had the biscuits and gravy and it was totally delicious. Boyfriend had the chicken fried steak and it also got excellent reviews. Neither one of us were hungry til well into the night, that's for sure! Super filling bang for your buck. Classic diner serving HUGE portions in downtown Gilroy. Food was prepared quickly and everything was served to the table steaming hot! When's the last time you had steaming breakfast?! :) Unfortunately the food itself was slightly disappointing. The country fried steak breading kept peeling off, and the steak itself was a little tough. The pancakes also had an unusual texture, a little more chewy and less cakey then we expected. This is the cutest place for a brunch in Gilroy！ It has the local artist to fancy an amazing tiny library for customers or just-readers. I ordered their seasonal strawberry cheesecake French toast. I will start by saying, fellow yelpers failed me on this one. This restaurant was such a bad experience start to finish and I can't understand how they had a packed house. First, the place was small, crowded, and we were seated in a small back room with no natural light. Second, we ordered a hot Mexican champurrado that I was very excited for and it was luke warm at best which is not ok for these type of drinks. We ordered an omelette and eggs Benedict and one if the orders came with a pancake--none were good. The oil the omelette was cooked in tasted like old rancid oil or fat which left us feeling a bit nauseous for a few hours. The egg Benedict had the most disgusting thick layer of solidified butter I have ever seen over the entire eggs Benedicts and I was baffled because it wasn't even hollandaise sauce!! I immediately sent it back and told them I'm not sure what that was and I needed to send it back to the kitchen. The server was apologetic and offered to have it remade which is kind, but let's just say my appetite disappeared. Finally, the pancake was the driest most bland thing I've ever tasted.
