For 3 large meals at $38 I was pleased. The flavors were good and our female waitress had a great and warm smile. We were seated nearly right away. The restaurant was busy, but I was a bit disappointed in the service. Plates were brought out at different times 10 minutes apart from each other and we were still waiting on the side bread... really? This is a Gilroy classic so I would go back again. They were busy and probably did not have a big staff on a Tuesday morning around Christmas time. read more

This place is a Gilroy gem. Parking is downtown, and can be hard to find but you'll get great customer service. Sometimes there is a wait, but well worth it for an incredibly hearty breakfast served and cooked by warm folks. I ordered the famous Kitchen Sink and got 3 meals out of it. Something about Breakfast for dinner is very nostalgic. read more

Fellow yelpers, y'all are mostly accurate when it comes to reviewing but man you got this wrong. Ordered a California chicken sandwich for almost $20!!! Beside being super extra soggy with some uncooked chicken breast, it was beyond salty. I mean to a point where I had to toss the whole sandwich away!!! Servers are nice but man the sandwich was beyond mediocre. read more

Stopped here while traveling through Gilroy. This place made me want to come back to the city. Super nice waitress, came back to refill drink and check on us several times. Food was good size portions AND flavorful. I got the FBD which was a little pricey but considering the amount of food, it wasn't bad. My only complaint was one single bathroom, there was a line. But overall 5 stars!!! read more

Simple Review: My favorite American Mexican brunch spot of all bay area. Food here is always delicious and the portions are huge. Do plan to share or do family style when you're here because first time I went here, I had leftovers for the whole day! First photo is the "kitchen sink" which is basically crispy fried potatoes, green pepper, ham, cheese, onion, jalapeno, and egg. Second photo: Chilaquiles - flavor and texture town (has a kick). Would give this place 10 stars if I could. My husband had a chicken sandwich which he said was the best he ever had and I had a breakfast plate called the kitchen which was very yummy with potatoes, onions, bell peppers, and eggs.. we are from Modesto, and will definitely drive to Gilroy to eat at this place again. Came here on a Sunday to grab a quick brunch. We were asked to put our name on the wait list and we complied. The server followed the order on the waitlist and then when it was our turn, all of a sudden, she completely ignored the waitlist. She started to give the patio tables to new customers who walked in without even checking to see if we would like to get seated outside first. Completely skipping our turn and gave 3 tables away to customers that weren't even on the waitlist. I had to speak up for her to even acknowledge that she skipped my turn. If I hadn't, she would probably continue to skip us. Tbh, that already killed the vibe for brunch and if we haven't already waited for 30 mins, I would have left. The food is okay and nothing special. The portion for the FBD was big, which was the only plus. The strawberry cheesecake French toasts didn't taste like "cheesecake;" just French toasts with strawberry and whipped cream. The water was really disgusting. If you have a hearty appetite, this is the spot for you! Huge portions! I like to order the biscuits and gravy and my husband gets the Kitchen Sink meal. The biscuits are light and fluffy and just taste good! They're served more open-faced if you will. The gravy also has bacon in it. I like the little chunks of that goodness. The kitchen sink has all the goods piled on and piled high. Imagine the biscuits, then gravy, then eggs on top and then meat on top of that ... you know, everything and the kitchen sink! The country style potatoes are quartered red potatoes with skins on - I love those too! They're super fast with orders (I typically do take-out and it's ready in 20min or less). I hope you give them a try when looking for a solid breakfast spot. read more

I really really prefer this place instead of the other breakfast/brunch restaurants in Gilroy, if not here then papas and eggs, instead of going to a franchise like dennys nor black bear. The staff is super nice and kind, really makes it feel like home and the place is set in a Lowkey area of downtown Gilroy which I enjoy! Food is delicious here and always made to order except one time my partners potato's came out really cold! But that's okay! I usually get the half kitchen sink with chocolate chip pancakes on the side! Will always come back here. read more

Sometimes all I'm in the mood for is a simply good cup of soup. I know this place specializes in diner-type food but the soup here is spectacular. So far I've ordered creamy vegetable, lentil, and clam chowder - all flavors were delicious, hearty, savory, and perfectly seasoned. The workers are always so nice and pleasant when I stop in. Will make this a regular stop on the days I work in the area. read more

Nice staff but definitely disorganized. Food was cold to luke warm. Eggshell on my hashbrowns. Our specific table placement kinda sucked as there is a post pushing the seating to my left, but the table is pushed to the right, effectively making for a smaller eating area. Cant simply push the table to the left as the space is already corwded and would just be in the way of the walking pathway. This place was packed and comes highly recommended so I'll definitely give it another try as every place has an off day and it seems I had a lot of little things that were just off enough, as a whole, to affect my encounter. read more

Looks small as you walk up, but the inside extended out. Looks a little older. Also outside seating on the sidewalk. We arrived about 9:30 and had no wait. Opted for outside. It got busy shortly after. When we left at 11, there were quite a few waiting. Our waiter was great. Food was good. Large portions. Check menu photos for current prices. (Chicken fried steak is 16.99, we didn't have that, but prices on Yelp are old). Our omelet was 13.99 and the kitchen sink was 12.99. I added a side of The gravy, it was delicious ($1.99). I'd just come from a wonderful exhausting overnight hiking/camping adventure at Uvas County Park (5/5, see separate review), just north of Gilroy, and I wanted a classic breakfast at a classic diner. Oh man! This place is exactly what I wanted. Located in Old Town Gilroy. I walked in at noon on a weekday. Everyone working at O.D.'s is super friendly, and they hustle! I was welcomed, seated immediately, my drink aka my choice of caffeine, was placed in front of me ASAP, my order was taken at just the moment that I looked up from reading the menu, & my food was delivered to me promptly. My post-hike breakfast, see photo, was a classic old school diner breakfast, and was exactly what I wanted. It might not be healthy (they do have healthy menu options, but why?) but man am I going to die happy. Bacon, eggs, cooked perfectly, and classic biscuits & gravy. This joint isn't far from the 101, so next time I'm driving north/south, I'm stopping at O.D.'s. You should too! read more

Stopped by here the other day when we went cherry picking in Gilroy and figured with all the reviews, it should be good. Ordering is sort of confusing. A lot of people were hanging outside the restaurant, but most of them had already ordered and were just waiting for their name to be called. You basically go up to the cashier and place your order and mention if you want inside/outside seating, but you don't pay yet. Then, you wait for them to call your name and get seated, and the food arrives relatively quickly soon after that. We did have to wait a while (maybe 20-25 minutes?) but that's pretty much expected since the restaurant is small and not operating at 100% capacity due to social distancing, and it was prime brunch hour. We ordered two of the specials: berries french toast (forgot what it was called), and chilaquiles. The berries french toast came with a side of homemade blueberry sauce which was really good! The french toast was good, not one of the best I've had but definitely hit the spot, and the strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries were fresh. I really liked the chilaquiles a lot, but as a warning, you should probably get the mild/medium instead of the spicy unless you REALLY like spice. We're ok at handling spice, but it was crazy hot, and did not feel good digesting it the following day =(. It was so good though that we both couldn't stop eating it. The tortilla chips, avocado, cheese, etc were just really tasty and the chips were wet and flavorful without being too soggy. read more

When I moved to Gilroy it was like a mission to find a good breakfast spot and now every time we have visitors from out of town we take them to OD's. The food servings are great and thier waiters are always so sweet. It does get really busy so its best to go really early or late. read more

Trying to decide where to eat in Gilroy and chose this place for a hearty meal. We arrived and were given two menus one breakfast the other lunch/dinner and were told to sit anywhere we'd like. The waitress arrived and took our drink orders and brought them out promptly. I had a coffee. I looked at the menu and the ribeye caught my attention. I was between that or a pancake combo. I asked the waitress what she would recommend and she said the ribeye steak and eggs with a pancake instead of toast, BINGO! My ribeye steak was cooked to order (well done) and was so flavorful and juicy. I throughly enjoyed my steak. Eggs we're fine (scrambled). The country potatoes were delicious. Well spiced and very flavorful. My pancake was HUGE! It was fluffy and delicious with the right amount of butter on top. My coffee was refilled before it was empty and paired nicely with my pancake. My meal was very hearty and delicious. Our waitress was attentive and responsive. We had a great meal and experience here. read more

Of the 6 dishes on our table only one had any pink to it. The roasted veggies were also slightly overcooked but I still was able to eat them. The server was nice and offered me a new meal but at this point everyone was through eating and dancing was beginning. A little better quality control were have easily corrected this. While I wasn't paying for the meal I wouldn't have wanted my guests to experience a poor meal at my wedding. Also not a good reflection of the catering at the venue. Hopefully this isn't a regular occur. Otherwise the place is lovely.

I may just do that next time and skip the meal. The service was poor. Once my food was dropped off , I never heard from the lady again to check on me until she dropped off the check.

The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, treating every guest like family. Even on busy weekends, they go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable and have everything you need. The food? Simply phenomenal. The portions are huge, and everything is cooked to perfection. Their omelettes are fluffy and packed with flavor, and the breakfast potatoes are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The biscuits and gravy are some of the best I've ever had--rich, hearty, and made from scratch. Some of my personal favorites: The Santa Fe Omelette - perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. Management sucks. Came in on a Saturday morning very crowded, walked in and was handed menus since nobody attends you we assume its self seating so me and three other people sit at the first table we see available. Once the food arrives the plates don't fit on the table so we ask for another table and the server doesn't seem to care so we decided to split and sit at separate tables to be more comfortable. The server returns and tells us that we cant do that, it's against their policy and if someone else comes in that we would have to move. We ask to speak to the manager and she says the manager isn't there today only the owner and he's busy so he can't come, that's bullshit and as a Latino family it's clearly discrimination because if we were white and spoke better English this wouldn't have been an issue. After all that a tip was left, but clearly it wasn't well deserved. read more

No pretense here. Just good, down home comfort food. I've been there twice, both times on the weekend, both times for breakfast. The pace was steady and usually people were waiting for tables. My friend lives in Gilroy and it's a popular place with the locals, so I had to give it a try and was not disappointed. The first time I had the Kitchen Sink - a little bit of everything and too rich for me, but tasty. The second time I had a half Benedict and it was yummy - but again very rich. I been here for breakfast a few times in the morning and LOVED IT. The ladies are sweet. Always get greeted the moment i walk in. Well I took my son for lunch since it's been a while since I been here and service was HORRIBLE! It wasn't busy. Tables around us got asked for re fills and how they were doing. My son got a kids meal with fries and they were tight wad on the fries he literally got 10 pieces of fries. It was ridiculous! I got up to ask for more and our waiter was just EXTREMELY rude! The omellets are made like Big Bear diner and not nearly as good as the ones at IHOP. Not even close to a French style omellet. The cheese was melted on the outside and so added no flavor to the eggs. The hash brown potatoes tasted of shortening and were not cooked inside. They only serve eggs Benedict on the weekend so my wife chose a meat melt and she liked it. Portion was huge for this. Coffee is on par with that found at 7-Eleven and is a low end restaurant blend. We arrived here today at around 11 o'clock to find many people waiting outside. We waited for around 20 minutes another 10 minutes for the food. I ordered the country fried steak & eggs plus extra crispy for the hash brown and my friend ordered the od's special omelette. The fried steak was covered in soggy thick batter, no flavor without the gravy and the hash brown was not xtra crispy. My friend's omelette was just ok. The omelette has ok amount of toppings. let me start by saying I have had many great meals at OD's. I have previously left a 5 star review. I have to withdraw my rating after what I saw. I was walking my dog and I stopped to look at a flyer and saw critters running by through their big window. not just one, FIVE! I will be notifying the health department but I doubt they will do anything. I looked at their health inspection records and they were shut down in June and allowed to reopen so let this serve as a warning to the community. I won't be eating here again. read more

I love this place. I have never had anything I didn't like, but I think the Santa Fe Omlette is my favorite breakfast. It is kind of crazy on the weekends, but if you can possibly get there during the week, go for it. It is prepossessing on the outside, and the inside is the same, but the food is great, the coffee is hot and plentiful, and everyone on the staff is friendly. Reasonably priced. I came here 30 minutes before closing, just as the owner was sitting down to have a meal with his family. I asked if it was okay to eat since it was so close to closing, and he welcomed me in very openly. It was a nice cozy place that has a friendly feel to it. OD's is pretty popular for breakfast, which I recommend, but its is also great for dinner and lunch as well. I would suggest coming here for breakfast if you are passing through Gilroy to get to LA or for the Garlic festival. read more

"mom n pop" type place, very reasonably priced, some wait time expected on the weekends because it's THAT good. let me preface this by saying, i've only had the pancakes, "country" potatoes, hash browns, bacon, and eggs. so i can't comment on the rest of the menu. the pancakes are like 8 inches wide, thick, fluffy. spread some butter on top and pour a light layer of syrup - melt in your mouth delicious! rest of breakfast items are yummy, nothing too extraordinary, but yummy. read more

I went once for dinner. It was good, but im gonna give it another try because all i got last time was a shrimp salad (was good but ate a lil before that). Surprised at all the great reviews. Like one of the other reviewers said, `It's just breakfast'. And the `facility' is not the cleanest or the greatest atmosphere. I used to go and get the veggie omelet but it was always just a little too greasy for me. I love coming here! The whole wait staff is great. i love getting the OD's special omelette's with home fries. the kitchen sink is great too. Try and go on a friday so you can get the great homemade clam chowder. so is everything else. it may look like the wait is really long, especially on weekends, but it's not really. the only waiting place they have is outside. read more

We waited and I tried telling the host that we need the check. 5 mins passed and I asked the host again that we need to pay. She then told me that I can pay at the counter. I went and waited for another 5 mins. Finally our server came up and told me that she went to our table and weren't there. I told her that we have been waiting for a while and that we were not happy about the service. She dismissed what I said. $61 total and left $5 tip. Not my usual style. I normally leave 50% tip. Maybe this is a sign we need to save money and not eat out. We spent about $700 in one week from dining out. Eeeek! Thank you for the reality check!
