Grab a menu and head to the register to be greeted by lovely people who love being there and are happy you came. Order and pay at the counter. On the way to the table of your choice, stop to make your glasses of ice water with lemon. Or iced tea, soda, whatever you ordered. Food came fast, fresh, hot and perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. The Mexican Nopales chicken soup really hit the spot. Rich thick broth, flavorful and hearty. This is comfort food. Next up, the Rib Eye Steak salad... just as fabulous as it looks! We were so impressed with the quality of the steak and how perfectly it was prepared. Somebody kiss the chef! I give this place two stars because a really nice girl cleaned up the bad attitude of the first face that spoke to me. When I entered it seemed like it was a local spot for dining. Not very tidy but must have been a steady crowd lingering since lunch. I asked for a menu (did not get a hello from the skinny blonde in the picture) she was rude made no eye contact, came across very dismissive NO PLEASANTRIES!!! I almost walked out along with saying something, but I didn't. I wanted to grab a burger for my late lunch. As I stood at the counter another girl working was super nice and left her task to assist me by taking my order and answering questions. Other servers smiled as they served, so thankfully the negative isn't the whole vibe here. I come out to visit my properties monthly and I am always looking for a dining spot I can favor and return my business. I will not return here. Unfortunately she came off as racist. I even thought for a moment not to feel bad that maybe she had a bad day. That is till an elderly gentleman walked in after me and she was a completely different person. She was kind to him very pleasant with "how are you today" and her tone was completely different than what was used on me. I got the cup of brocoli cheddar soup (I like Panera's better), not saying it's not good but pretty average. We stopped by this cute little cafe on the way to San Francisco, and it was our favorite food stop on the entire trip!! The food was fresh and flavorful. We had the cheese tortellini and chicken bruschetta sandwich with a side Cesar salad and French fries. The entire meal was amazing! The cafe is also in a cute little spot with lots of shops and places to walk around. The sweet manager even offered to bring out a water bowl for our dog while we were eating outside. I ate here back in early-ish January and haven't been able to stop thinking about it since--I'm already dreaming of eating here again the next time I'm in Paso Robles. First off, this is clearly a spot beloved by locals, and for good reason! Every single dish I saw here was beautifully plated, with generous portions. I had one of the best chicken piccata's of my life here, and their soup of the day (chicken noodle) was also comforting and divine. The service was incredible, which came as something of a surprise considering you order at the counter, find a seat and then they bring the food out to you; I've spent a good chunk of time working in the food industry in the past, and it's always a pleasure to see both the front and back of house working together like a well-oiled machine. I also espied a cute interaction between an older lady guest and one of the young gentleman working here--he greeted her by name and even helped her figure out something with her smart phone, which was really heartwarming. The ambiance is a mix of cozy-casual, with local's artwork for sale on the walls and some really gorgeous, thriving plants adding some greenery. I loved the self-serve drink station and was recommended a lovely red wine to enjoy with my meal (which they brought out right away after ordering at the counter). read more

Not only was everything delicious but the portions were huge. My three steak tacos were presented half open so I could marvel at how lean each piece of steak was and how each taco was simply stuffed with this awesome carne. I hate gristle in tacos, which is why I usually avoid Asada or beef. It's like standard procedure to put the cheap cuts of meat in a taco. These tacos had no gristle, all fat was trimmed. The meat was grilled and delicious. The shrimp tacos were equally amazing. Because the portions were so large we also had a delicious road dinner several hours later. If you order on line you can park in one of the green spaces downtown which allows you 20 minutes to run in and grab your order. read more

We stopped in here on a recent visit, after not eating here in a couple years. It's a great lunch spot. Nice selection of salads, sandwiches, burgers, stir fries, and more. We had a Teriyaki Rice bowl that was brimming with fresh vegetables, and the Pulled Pork Tacos. The tacos come three to an order with a choice of salad, soup or fries. It is filling. The Caesar Salad was a good choice to add to the meal, but the tacos themselves had tomato, avocado, and onion on the side. Plenty of soft drink, wine and beer choices to wash it all down. Took a friend for lunch and it was our first time at the Odyssey Cafe. I had the curried chicken salad (absolutely divine) and she had the Ahi Ahi salad and raved about it as well. We came here at the recommendation of our hotel, the menu had a bit of everything. We ordered a burger, shrimp fettuccine Alfredo and lasagne, everything was delicious. The lasagne had a lovely tomato flavor and hearty meat, the cheese ratio was perfect, not heavy or greasy. The Alfredo was light, the shrimp were cooked and the burger was excellent. We were all very pleased. My only complaint is that I prefer waiter service but after we paid at the cashier, all of the staff were so attentive. read more

Why does this place not have 5 stars? It does not get better than this, especially for a quick super healthy and spanking fresh lunch! In 95 degree heat wave, this was an oasis of comfort and cool. We got a curried chicken salad wrap in tomato basil tortilla, the chicken smothered in super crunchy romaine lettuce in a citrus dressing, mandarin orange segments, slivered almonds and crunchy tangy Granny Smith apples, bits of pineapple, perfectly mellow spicing not overwhelmingly acrid with curry nor pungent, creamy texture and perfect. The fries also not that awful double fried crap nor the sorry skinny shoestrings. These were medium and it sure hit the spot when I doused the entire plate with malt vinegar. The service efficient and friendly, order at the counter and they bring out to you. Prices are awesome with huge portions. The inside super clean and casual. Love love love! read more
