My wife and I have lunch at Odyssey World Cafe whenever we drive from Palo Alto to Santa Barbara or back - to visit our grandkids. We've enjoyed the relaxed ambience with local artists' work on the walls and plenty of room between tables. Above all, we enjoy the tasty food including the fish tacos with accompanying fries, several of the salads, burgers and sandwiches, and chocolate cake. Early this week I left my camera there (with all the recent pics on the memory card). Without requesting any compensation, the owner took it to a FedEx outlet, had it packaged and sent back to me. I'd call that more than a full service restaurant. It's now a place that has left me a treasured memory in addition to a happy palette. read more

Their side salads are amazing. Very flavorful and you get a variety to choose from. I like how you can sit down and choose from the menu , then go up to order and pay. The staff are very friendly. It's definitely a relaxing atmosphere. They have tables in front of the restaurant and a cute little courtyard out back, that's shaded from the sun. The service/staff made excellent suggestions on what to choose for an on-the-go meal and the preparation time was very quick. The food was delicious! The lamb gyro is tender and flavorful. I am a big French fry fan and I liked these. One enters the restaurant, takes a menu, and selects where one would like to sit. Many different seating options are available inside, as well as a small number of tables on their front outdoor patio. After choosing your selection(s) from the menu, one places their order & pays at the counter. When the food is ready, it is delivered to the table. The trend nowdays seems to be to tip in advance of receiving any food or service. Advance tipping, and receiving a subpar meal or service, is not a pleasant experience, and does not lead to repeat customers to the business. While speaking to the cashier, we noted that the décor and atmosphere of the restaurant has changed. She informed us that changes had occurred in the last few months.The restaurant is more open and less cluttered than in our previous visits. There is still artwork displayed on the walls, which are on-loan from the studio down the street and are for sale. This visit, we ordered the Meatballs Marinara with linguine noodles. The portion was small for the price. The sauce was full of tomato chunks, however the flavor was lacking and a little watery. The meatballs were of good size and very flavorful. The Curried Chicken Wrap contained a modest amount of chunks of chicken with a plentiful amount of lettuce. It had a good balance of curry, but the sauce was overly runny. The wrap was not well assembled, as when the paper was removed to eat it, the wrap began to fall apart. The Greek salad was very delicious and the balance of ingredients was wonderful. The soup of the day was Creamy Chicken Artichoke. It was filled with many chucks of chicken & artichokes. It was delicious, with a slight bite to it. We would definitely recommend the Greek salad & the soup. Overall, a nice relaxing place for lunch. read more

Didn't have too much expectations but it was a great restaurant with great food. Really liked the Fact that the corkage fee was $5. That way you can bring the bottle you enjoy. Hubby got the rib eye- well cooked to order with a sizable piece. The mash potatoes looked to be hand mashed with chunky pieces. Asparagus so tender and sweet. Got the shrimp taco. Noted the layer of melts cheese. The shrimp filled the taco and the red onion and avocado just bring everything together nicely. Shredded cabbage added a different texture. And squeeze of lime is a nice finishing touch. Shrimp was a good size, well seasoned ( not too salty) and cooked just right. My friends got the chicken Parmigiana with pasta and they both really enjoyed it. I forgot but each side comes with a free side salad/fries/ or soup. What a delicious meal we had! Wasn't super excited about the menu at first... didn't see any reassuring gluten-free symbols or mentions and nothing really wowed. Ordered the cod fish tacos (server assured me they were gluten free) with the green salad side and husband got the salmon salad. Green salad was fresh and lightly dressed with toasted sliced almonds, very good. But I was wowed by the main: The fish tacos were surprisingly tasty! Grilled cod had excellent flavor, a little heat, with yummy avocado and bits of purple cabbage, the perfect fine texture and acidity. Absolutely best fish tacos in memory (too many places let me down). Tried salmon salad, too, wonderful flavor, tender and moist with crisp greens. read more

The wife hates it when I do that and we'd just driven 4 hours so I smiled politely and chose the cod tacos. The cod tacos are great, light pan fried and lots of fresh veggies with just the correct amount of heat. The boy inhaled his burger, the fries I stole were delicious. The wife's bruschetta chicken sandwich was mind-opening, the balsamic vinegar on it giving it life and great acid. I went here for my 18th birthday, the service was wonderful, everyone was so nice and welcoming. The decor is nice and simple, some of the upholstery does need to be redone, but even with that it's still very nice. The food was great, I got a mixed greens salad with a raspberry vinaigrette, and it was delicious, especially for such a simple side. For my main, I got some Cajun shrimp pasta, it tasted so good, everything was nicely cooked and I'm so glad I went here, overall an amazing experience, totally recommend! read more

You know that feeling of sheer depression when you go to a place that has a meal you just LOVE (see previous review) and for some inexplicable reason they change it? Yup, I am there. We come here so I can get my Chicken Caesar Salad and tonight it was just awful. The delicious rotisserie chicken that used to grace the fresh lettuce and big shards of Parmesan cheese was rudely replaced with a piece of dry over seasoned chicken breast on top of old lettuce and barely there Parmesan cheese slivers. The service was a two star at best to top it off. My husband enjoyed his BLT and soup ok but there are so many places to eat downtown Paso so there is no reason for me to return. This is a beautiful restaurant with amazing customer service. We were walking around the downtown and saw this place. We came in and were greeted by a full restaurant. One of the employees greeted us and advised we had a 7-10 minute wait. Sure enough, 8 minutes later they were cleaning a table for us. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. We had the kids lasagna, kids noodles and lamb gyro. All were good and everyone ate it all. Great place! read more

We ate dinner hear on New Year's Eve. It wasn't crowded at all, which was great for us. I had the spaghetti and meatballs and my wife had the lasagna. We both really liked our food a lot. We got our son the kid's chicken tenders, but he didn't really eat it. It seemed a little too breaded for him, but at least he got adult sized portions. Also, overall, service was nice. The staff helped pull two headlamps near us when we first arrived, but when they changed servers to a lady, she seemed less accommodating, especially when asking for additional bread for the table, noting that it only comes with full meals, despite us having ordered 4 adult meals and 3 children meals. Nonetheless, I'm not going to mark this restaurant down too much since I'm not sure why she was behaving like that and our initial impressions were good with the staff and food. read more

We watched this place with inside dining working like a clock under the Covid restrictions for indoor dining. It was in play and service was fast. Walking around Paso Robles on Pine Street. Noticed this restaurant more crowded than the others. Liked the menu. Greeted by staff upon walking in. Looked at menu and ordered at counter. Grabbed a table and our drinks and soon this amazing bread was deliver to our table. Food was delivered soon after. Staff Continued to come by and check on us throughout our meal. The meals were amazing. My wife had the Picata chicken with the apple and walnut salad. I had the marinara sauce with meatballs and linguine and the apple salad as well. We will be back!! read more

I have nothing but good things to say about this place. They allowed us to have our doggos in the patio and the young man who was working the counter was exceptional! He was so sweet to my boyfriend and I and he was giving some love to our dogs as well. They describe themselves as fresh casual kitchen. I would say is spot on. This tucked away gem is what drew us to having dinner here and it was a very nice choice. Neighborhood families, couples, cozy and casual. The food was fresh delicious my husband ordered the fish and chips Cod & fries. The fish was breaded with a nice crunch to the bite not soggy or oily (yes I had a taste). My Ahi tuna Tacos were topped with cilantro cabbage and were very flavorful. It was really tough to say whose meal was better than the other. Casual kitchen meaning I think order at the counter, there are no waiters, we had ourself a seat at the bay windows looking out to the square headed to the drinks station then our order was brought out.
