Oh my, oh my, today was what I will wish I could eat everyday. I had been to off the hook before and had the melted lobster sandwich, which was good.....but today oh Lordy! I love seafood but my husband is not a huge fan like me. He did agree to take me to OTH today. I had the grilled fish & shrimp with cheesy grits in lobster cream sauce (my mouth is watering AGAIN) as I am writing this review. OH MY GOSH....it is soooooooo good! It has totally spoiled me from eating anything else from OTH or seafood from any place else other than OTH! My husband had the grilled tilapia and shrimp, which he greatly enjoyed. Which you know what that means....he will take me to OTH again! He even said he was going to tell the guys he works with to go to the south meridian location, since he works right in that area. Girl who took our order was super sweet and very friendly! Oh yes, we bought an order of butter cooKies, and if you pass those up, you are missing out! Off the Hook has had me hooked for years now! This is one of the few places that no natter what you order it will be delicious! My favorite is the blackened chicken fries. I feel like there is not enough sauce on it so I always ask for extra. I'm also obsessed with their okra, I order it with every meal. The staff at the Britton location are always very friendly and helpful. The wait is somewhat lengthy but the food is so worth it. If you are expecting authentic creole cuisine, this is not it. I was missing Louisiana and have been searching for an authentic restaurant. Many people recommended Off the Hook. I had ordered online and this location was not busy when I arrived. I arrived 30 minutes after placing my order and waited another 30 before I received it. It became busy while I waited and many people who arrived after I had received their food first. Now, the food. We ordered the grilled shrimp and fish on cheese grits, the melted lobster, and the wontons. The grilled shimp and fish tasted okay. Not a lot of flavour and zero spice. My husband had to add creole seasoning and hot sauce to it. The melted lobster was a disaster. Had very little lobster and scallops and fish to fill. The menu didn't mention those being in the sandwich, just lobster. The bread was so soggy that I couldn't even pick up the sandwich without it falling apart. I just discarded the bread and pulled what I coul off of it. The meat and cheese was bland, no flavour and no spice. I had to add creole seasoning and hot sauce to it. The wontons were good, no complaints. They don't even need sauce. I may try the second location for comparison but, this is Definitely not authentic Louisiana cuisine. Well let me just start off by saying kudos for a great meal. I can not say enough about having the choice to experience something different other than your typical beef, chicken or barbecue. However, we settled on the Shrimp and grits, fried pickles, seafood wontons ( ADDICTIVE) get your own order DO NOT SHARE you'll be mad LOL and the lemon pepper wings. The menu is filled with many different items, so maybe come with a few hungry friends so you can spilt things up and try a few different things. Today I had the Crawfish poboy, Mac and cheese and a kool-aid peach mango pickle. It's not fast food so there is a little bit of a wait, but it was worth it. The food came out fresh and had tasted great. The poboy itself was seasoned right and had a good mix of flavor. Mac and cheese was pretty good overall, and the kool-aid pickle gives you the mix of sweet and sour. If you like pickles you will like this. This place was soo good. It's in a small building that isn't super attractive but once you walk in you're in for a good time! They have a glass wall so you can watch them cook! I've only had one thing on the menu (the smothered Seafood fries) and it was probably the best place I've eaten in the cheese fries category. The sea food is cooked in the sauce which brings all the flavors together. The workers we great to me. They helped me pick out something from them menu then when I was done eating they came and asked how it my food was and cleaned the table. There isn't a ton of room in the restaurant so I wouldn't bring a group too big here but I would recommend this place to anyone! read more

I've been getting food from Off the Hook for like... 4 years and I haven't written a review? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa? Burgers! - Fantastic. I haven't had a burger from them I didn't like. Juicy and tasty. As I don't eat seafood this is generally what I will eat here. If you don't like seafood then it's generally a good choice. Though it seems they don't always have burgers on the menu anymore. Flying Pig - Holy Mother of Dragons this is a recent discovery. I only had it the last time I was here, but it's my official go-to now. The Flying Pig food truck knows how to make some pulled pork and Off the Hook takes this and makes it their own. They do have various weekend specials so be sure to check their facebook page. It usually changes weekly and they're always decent treats. I really appreciate the "& more" of the restaurant as it's something my seafood loving girlfriend can enjoy and I'm not wondering where I can grab myself something to eat. When you walk in you are greeted with a glass wall where you can see them cook food. We ordered blackened chicken fries which were amazing. The chicken itself was flavorful but the sauce they put on top had the right level of heat with a creamy sauce to cool it down. We also got Mac n cheese which was cheesy and creamy. Our uncle also really enjoyed his smothered seafood rice. He ordered an extra fried catfish to go with it and it was huge and worth it for $3 extra. The crusting on the outside was crispy and the inside was tender and delicious. Their lemonades are pretty good too. We got their strawberry lemonade and for a large they are only supposed to refill for fountain drinks but they were nice and gave us a refill on our lemonade anyway saying that we were polite. Off the Hook is amazing. The staff is kind and accommodating the second you walk in the door. Everything I have ordered from here has been delicious, but I am a big fan of the melted lobster sandwich. It has boiled lobster meat with melted cheeses with onions and peppers on Texas toast. It is very cheesy which I like, but if you don't like your lobster covered in cheese it won't be for you. The fried shrimp is also great and the house made chips make you keep reaching for more. This place is a bit out of the way for most people, but definitely is worth the trip. When they are busy there can be limited seating, but they also do take out and have a drive thru. Be prepared if decide to use the drive through because they still will prepare your food fresh as though you were eating inside. Another great thing is getting to read Chef Corey Harris' story on how he started Off the Hook. It feels good to support someone who went from working fast food to getting their culinary degree and opening their own place. read more

No need to orders two if you have tots.) The grilled catfish and shrimp was the bomb dot com. Tasty. Savory. Flavorful. I have zero complaints about my dish. My husband said NOTHING when his food came out -- which is an indication of how great it is. I think I looked over his was twice, and the second time, his plate was clean. Our 2 and 1-year-old boys ate their entire plates. So when I say the food is good, it's good. The only thing I didn't like was the flavored lemonade. This was our first visit after reading rave reviews in a local magazine article as well on Yelp. We were not disappointed. The girls shared the grits and shrimp, I went for the loaded fries supreme, which came with a fillet of fish and 5 fried shrimp. It was very rich but also excellent. Next time I may just go for the fried fish. The tartar sauce was homemade and superb. The location is super convenient and it was packed. Togo order @ 12:30 PM They only prefer to take phone orders if the order is larger than $50. I came in waiting in line, about 5th in line. By the time I got to the front, about 10-15 groups came following. This place was packed for dine in and togo! I ordered the crawfish po boy, easy on the siracha mayo. Pretty good. They pan fried the bread to make the inside crunchy and the outside stays soft. Not a lot of services involved in ordering togo, but both ladies I asked for suggestions were quite nice and helpful. Off The Hook Seafood & More is just as their name describes....off the hook! This restaurant is easy to locate (Britton & Broadway Extension) with great parking. This restaurant does have a drive thru however, the food is still made to order. Once inside you immediately feel welcomed by who I assume is the owner; inside the establishment is clean and well kept. Each worker was extremely pleasant and friendly. There are menus along the wall that you can take with you. You cannot call in the order ahead of time unless the order is $50 or more as some folks do not actually pick up their food (totally understandable). The menu offers large portions for affordable prices and they offer a wide variety of items (frog legs, jerk chicken kabobs, cajun crawfish, smothered seafood fries, kool aid pickles etc). I actually ordered the Fish Po'Boys to go which came with garlic french fries. By the time I got back to work, I allowed two of my coworkers to taste prior to me having a try and their reaction was priceless. Once I started to eat, I could not stop eating....the catfish was seasoned perfectly (I did put a little of the hot sauce supplied in the restaurant), the bread was so soft and fresh. The french fries were absolutely delicious. I wanted seconds before I even finished what I had ordered. I absolutely love this place! They frequent a parking lot close to my work and I rush over every time they are near. I always get the blackened fish and it is amazing! People question seafood from a truck, but every item is cooked fresh and tastes more fresh than bourbon street or even pearls. I'm a huge fan of the tartar sauce, and always ask for extra to dip my fries in, which are also cooked to perfection! I've been eating at both locations for a long time but I am sad to say that the Britton location lacks the love put into the food. I am sad to hear the meridian location is no longer open. I just ordered blackened fish and fried catfish with jumbo shrimp. I will say the fried catfish was over cooked and the shrimp were not jumbo, and my grilled fish was saturated in oil and I couldn't even finish it.
