The posted opening time is 9am and I arrived at 10am. There were 10 cars ahead of me waiting and the establishment wasn't even open!!. I checked yelp and apparently not opening on time is a common practice of this official inspection station. I felt bad for the folks who had been waiting in line for over over an hour and after10 minutes and still no sign of opening I decided to leave . Luckily I was last in line so put it in reverse and left. I decided to give Express Oil Change at 11105 Westwood Loop, San Antonio, TX 78253 a try. I pulled up and they had 2 inspection bays open. Heather greeted me with a friendly smile and asked how she could help. She pointed me to Kat the inspector. Kat was professional, courteous, and even gave me some coupons for an oil change. She took the time to offer excellent customer service and I was done in less than 10 minutes! I will be coming here from now on thanks to fast and friendly service. PS if the manager is reading this please consider giving these two a raise. They deserve it. I drove by official inspection station after I was done and they are finally open at 10:45am and the cars I was behind were still in line!! Went to get title and registration, waiting in line for about an hour. With a few cars in front of us. When it came to being our turn, lady said she wasn't trained and couldn't help us. Awhile she was snacking away. If she walked out to check what people were there for, would of saved a lot of people time. Blame bad management for not training staff , or at least put a sign. I went by on my lunch hour for my car inspection. The line was long; however, this station only has one bay. I waited my turn and passed inspection. Great. Not so much. As I drove off, I discovered that a new inspection sticker had not been placed on my vehicle. Because I was on my lunch hour and the line was still long, and I needed to get back to work I returned the next day. When I drove up there, there was a short line for registration, so I chose it. There was one car in front of me. That car waited for some time and no one came out to service them and they drove off. I got out of my vehicle and approached the moron who had inspected my car the day before. I told him my predicament and his response was, "oh she'll help you out over there. She's not there right now". I asked when she would be there and was told, "oh. I am not sure she hasn't shown up all day. I guess you will have to come back Monday". I said , "well, that's convenient". Nothing, nada. Zip. No apology at all. I will be back Monday because I am going to get the inspection sticker that I ALREADY PAID FOR. This place has to be the worst business I have ever been to. First off the line is ridiculously long. Once you get in the line there is no way out so u have to sit in it. I waited for 1.5 hours. Then they tell you after you waited that whole time that the price is $20! Their website says $7! Not to mention literally anywhere else you go charges $7 and most of the time there is no wait. I contacted in person a DPS representative to question the legality of such overcharge, apparently, there are no guide lines pertaining to such unethical practices. There was no wait when I got there but the guy made me get out of my car so he could drive it into the tunnel to inspect which was already really weird because i've never had to do that before at any inspection place. I was told I would pay $7 but the guy made me pay $20. The guy didn't check to see if my break lights worked at all and spent a weird amount of time "inspecting" my dash??? I also failed my inspection because supposedly something was wrong with my windshield wipers but was never told exactly. Nothing is wrong with them, they have worked the same since I got my vehicle and I have had no issues, so it just sounded like a bs excuse to fail me. This may seem like a very fast and convenient way of getting your safety inspection done here in Texas but I cannot get over the charge of $18 for something that is only $7 everywhere else. Yes I understand most people will just pay this and not worry... but this fee is an overcharge of $11 and with 1000 customers that equals out to $11,000 and ten thousand customers is $121,000 and so on... So as an elite Yelper I have the responsibility to advise you take your business elsewhere. It takes them approximately 10 minutes per car and there was a wait just like any other station you bring it to it usually takes 20 minutes of waiting, but you only pay $7 somewhere else. Also the tool they have for checking the tint on your windows requires you to roll down your windows. There is another tool that doesn't require this but they do not have it at this establishment. I say that because if you're coming from another state and went to a tint shop to get your tint to compliance you will have to wait 3-5 days to be able to roll down your windows. They will fail you here and take your money. They won't care about your documentation from the tint shop next door showing removal and putting on 30% tint AND they don't have the other tool to check tint % so you're stuck waiting 3-5 days. These kinds of issues won't pertain to most people. So if you have no reason to fail whatsoever and there's no line and you are okay with overpaying then this place will do just fine. The guys are real sticklers but they were nice and overall weren't bad, just doing their job. read more

I went at 9 AM for safety inspection, and only one active person in front of me. After the car in front cleared out, it took the guy almost 15 minutes to get to me. Rearranging cones for some reason at a snails pace for the entrance already clearly marked, walking back to the shop and walked around the shop for a bit, etc. 3 cars pulled in behind me during this time. When he finally got around to me, he said company policy for the past 6 years is not to process MasterCard payments if for fleet vehicles. This same shop did mine last year and was very fast. Fast and friendly. I came here at lunchtime during the week and there was no wait! I paid $19 to have the truck inspected while I filled out my details on their iPad. The whole process took less than 10 minutes. I went to Firestone and they told me it would take up to 40 minutes to get around to helping me. I think they charge $15 (4 dollars less) but time is money and I'd rather not wait forever to get an inspection. I came back with my other vehicle on a Saturday at 10 in the morning and there was about four cars ahead of me. Still they are moving along pretty quickly. I'll be back in the future! read more

Location: #9, Culebra Rd. I was charged for an OIS Service under the impression by the Serviceman as if it was a requirement and part of the Inspection. I wasn't aware, nor was I notified that this Service is optional. The gentleman that helped me made it seem like it was a mandatory requirement when in fact it is not. "The inspection will be $7, OIS will be $6.50, and the Shop Fee will be $6.50; all other services are additional in which you don't have to accept". The guy is charging everyone this fee and phrasing it in a manner which may lead many people to believe the OIS Service is part of the Vehicle Inspection process; it is not. It is an extra service that they offer. They should not be stating it as if it is a State Requirement. I went to get my 2006 Honda Civic inspected and the inspector told me that my third brake light was out and he wanted to charge me 7 bucks to replace the bulb, but couldn't because it is an LED bulb. Upon inspecting it it turns that LED was not out. I ran all over town thinking it was out just to find out it wasn't. I feel like they swindled me into trying to up charge me on top of the 18 inspection fee. It ruined my day and caused a huge mess that did not need to happen. The extra $13.00 is supposed to be optional but the guy at the station makes it sound like it is included in the inspection and they automatically charge you #20.00. I absolutely hate having to do this each year, but who doesn't? I don't know why I thought I would be the only one with the idea to get my car inspected on the last day of the month after work at 5:00 PM. I instantly felt irritated when I saw how long the line was. The line moved relatively fast which surprised me. They seem to have a pretty good system down. There is a woman that goes up to the cars in line and checks your insurance. Once you get further up the line she will hand you an ipad to input your information. The total cost came out to $18. The woman isn't friendly but I wouldn't describe her as rude either. I think she just wants to get her job done as quickly as possible which I can appreciate it. Once you are next you get asked to get out and sit in a chair while they complete the inspection. The guy at also works there is more chill and nice. I think I will come back next year and be smarter about not coming when everyone else does. Other than that this is a good place to go because it is quick.
