On this day of April Fools day 4/1/19 where it was Mother Nature who fooled us into thinking it was Spring while it was snowing; We initially just wanted to peek at the menu however the ambiance was so appealing that we just had to give it a try My friend ordered coffee and i just wanted water; the waiter brought cold water in a wine bottle and poured it into my glass and never let it get empty. My friend mentioned the coffee was exceptional I had the oh my darling burger which is an Angus burger with goat cheese = delicious; not too bad for $10 My friend had a flat bread lunch pizza for about $14 which he felt was delicious but over-priced. The manager greeted us and we had such a nice discussion that the owner, Leanne, joined in. Leanne is your typical hard working American just trying to make a living out of good hard work. I hope she finds a way to become more competitive and get those 5 stars which I dish out very carefully. I was particularly impressed with Leanne's choice or artwork- that rustic look without looking rundown. Oh My Darling, how delectable this place was! I was in town for graduation weekend and found this cute spot in downtown Syracuse. No reservations, so I was a bit worried but it was a quick waitlist. The host sat me down and the decor was very cute and the restaurant was very spacious. The waitress Madeline was extremely attentive and friendly. The coffee was very good and loved that they had a wide variety of milk (expect skim milk ). We ordered grilled chicken salad, caprese flatbread, classic Benedict and omelet. They were all incredible! I loved that the waitress was very candid answering my questions about the menu and very satisfied with my decision. I had a lot of (probably annoying) requests, and everyone was so nice about it which I am very grateful for. I think this has been one of the best restaurant experiences with amazing food and wait staff that I've had in Syracuse so far! Thank you! read more

My wife and I recently took a friend to Sunday brunch at Oh My Darling. What a disappointment. It was very crowded when we arrived and the hardwood floors and exposed brick, though nice looking, only amplified the noise. It was hard to have a conversation. Service was fine: attentive and friendly. The food, however, was sub-par. I had eggs Benedict, which included a thin and tasteless Hollandaise sauce. Fortunately they put hardly any of it on the eggs. I didn't send it back because I didn't want them to simply add more of a bad thing. My "thick sliced ham" turned out to be two thin slices - basically cold cuts. My English muffin (called a "Portuguese muffin" on the menu for some reason) was not toasted. The "home fries" were obviously shaken out of a bag - there was nothing homie about them. Our friend had the shrimp and grits. The "creamy grits" were anything but. They were dry and thick - the consistency of cookie dough (but far less appealing). My wife's omelet was dry but as well, overall the best of the three dishes. We've enjoyed Oh My Darling's speakeasy, but it would take a lot to get us back there to eat. read more

This place was extremely disappointing. I went in with my kids and it took 45 minutes just for our order to be taken. I thought they had completely forgotten about us and it was not busy. Then some of the food arrived - 3 out of 5 of us were served and the other 2 were left sitting with no food for some time. The Mac and cheese was ok. The poached eggs were horribly overcooked - one was like a hard boiled egg - and the entire thing was cold. When the pancakes showed up, they were inedible. They tasted like someone accidentally used baking soda instead of baking powder. I'm angry with myself that I didn't say something and ask to have them taken off the bill but by then I was so fed up with the whole place that I just wanted to leave. I chose this place based on a good rating since we were there for an event and wanted to eat before going back to Buffalo. I don't want anyone else to make the same mistake. read more

This place is loud and with the high ceilings and size it's understandable but the music playing can be lower to help a little. Seats are u comfortable and really the food is meh. Our party of 4 had three Benedict's ( 1 salmon and 2 California) and brunch burger. The food came out pretty cold and one of the poached eggs was so undercooked water spilled out from the egg white all over the plate. The only coffee was a hazelnut. I've never been to place that doesn't offer unflavored coffee. Definitely will not return. read more

Luke our Waiter was absolutely the greatest. He made sure that we were a satisfied party of 3.First and foremost Luke had a great understanding of OMD's menu. His suggestions were favorable and on point. The Banana Bread French Toasts was succulent and the Hickory Bacon was oh so tasteful. The Shrimp and Grits well that's another issue. The shrimp was flavorful seasoned however those Grits? Hm? The grits lack the flow of the Southern Style. The taste just wasn't creamy and smooth as if I was in the South -Almost but no cigar. Now lastly that Chicken & Waffle? Another Southern Creation. Well it lacked the Southern Tradition. If the Fried chicken is going to lay next to the waffle let it be the Wing. I'll definitely try one next time. I got the spinach and artichoke dip to share with my sister to start. It tasted delicious and wasn't overwhelmed with cheese like some places make it. I visited Oh My Darling on 1/11/24 - there was only one gentleman at the bar, not one table was taken. I work for Honeywell and welcome many customers to the area, and have gone here a few times. Unfortunately it was raining and I was in the field so I had a sweatshirt on along with my contractor who had the same attire. We were sat quickly to a table by the bar. We sat there for 10-15 minutes with not one employee acknowledging us, brought water or asked us for a drink order. Again, there was only ONE person in the whole place - seated at the bar. An older woman comes in 15 minutes after us and they sit her at the table directly behind us. The server comes right over, offers her water, and takes a drink order and maybe her food order. I looked over at the bar and asked if anyone would be serving us. Apparently the bartender was making a drink, but if it takes 15 minutes to make a drink, you may have other issues. She was seen conversing with the other server around the bar area. Do you think she could have said anything to us? Acknowledged our existence with a hello or I will be over in a few minutes. When the server mentioned that the bartender would be taking our order, the bartender looked over at us and went into the kitchen. No apology, nothing. Once I returned to my downtown condo in Syracuse, I called the restaurant and asked for the manager, who is Tom. I explained that I was extremely disappointed with the service and how their establishment was represented to my client who traveled from Philadelphia today. I was embarrassed for myself and your establishment that I recommended we go there. His exact words were is this how people treat people that aren't dressed up in Syracuse or is it just not caring and laziness. Your team missed this mark profoundly. Tom said he reviewed the footage and said it would be a learning/training experience for his staff. You will never get my business again! I feel because I was dressed for the Syracuse weather and being in a manufacturing facility, I was treated with no regard as a person. My client never got to try the food because of how we were ignored. Shame on you for not having your employees treat all patrons with respect, no matter if they are dressed casually or in business attire. If it wasn't because of the attire, then you staff are just flat out rude! I wish I were the owner testing the staff as seen on "Undercover Boss"......your team would have failed miserably tonight. Our server, Corey, was hands down a complete delight. Even though the restaurant was only half full, It appeared that it was only Corey and one other server who took care of all the tables and the bar. They were constantly moving, no -- gliding about without the slightest bit of overwhelm. Also, Corey personally made our cocktails, with panache, and they were delicious and beautiful. And, our meals were fantastic. The burger had a very gourmet flavor and was cooked perfectly medium. The scallops were light and buttery and cleverly complimented by asparagus and corn risotto. The portions were quite large, so the to-go box became my next day's work lunch. My wife and I stopped in for dinner on a weeknight at about 5:15PM. We were seated quickly in the bar area, there were no other diners in this area when we were seated. We ordered our drinks and dinner, and were unable to hear the very nice waitress when she was speaking to us. The music is cranked up so high it makes a pleasant normal conversation impossible. I asked the waitress if the music could be turned down and she did turn it down, but turned the music down so little that it made no real difference. Our dinners were delicious, as they have been in the past. The beer selection is large and the wine selection is also good. There are seasonal mixed drinks, so the drinks and food are great. While we were having dinner, a group of three entered and sat at the bar. We observed that these three folks were yelling at each other so they could hear each other. The acoustics in this older building are terrible. Combine this with the otherwise pleasant music being blasted at a completely unreasonable level makes for an unpleasant experience. Although we enjoyed the food greatly, as we have in the past, this is our last visit due to the blaring music. Not recommended. read more

Let's start with the cocktail; I had the 'Alive and Kickin' DELICIOUS cold brew/coconut milk concoction... my dining partner had a 'Raspberry Mint Mojito', it looked divine! The waiter was wonderful and said some of my favorite words: WE CAN MAKE THAT GLUTEN FREE! I had Shrimp & Grits (un-breaded shrimp), and the California Benedict on GF bread... I got the Darling Burger on gf bread and it was quite tasty. They cooked it exactly how I wanted (med-well). I enjoyed the fried pickles and truffle fries as well. Our fries did arrive a bit cold but they brought out fresh ones after we informed our waitor. I didnt try the Salmon, but the woman who order it quite enjoyed it (big portion too). Last thing, I wasnt a huge fan of the Pear Margarita (and I'm a margarita gal). The atmosphere is so cute. The service was very friendly! Only things to be cautious about is the noise level. Oh My Darling would be easy to miss on Salina Street if not for the plant boxes identifying the outdoor seating area. It's very exciting to see cute restaurants like this popping up on Salina. I had a veggie burger and my friend had a burger with goat cheese. Both were delicious and came with fries but were pretty expensive for Syracuse. After tax and tip, my lunch came out to $20 and I got one of the cheaper items on the menu. I think I'll be back for a date night but it would be hard to be a regular for lunch with the current prices. Staff was very friendly too! One comment was that the tap water had a pretty weird taste. Very cute restaurant with good food and good service. We had met some friends that we had not seen in over a decade at this restaurant. The waitress was very patient with the fact that we were catching up more than perusing the menu and getting around to ordering. They had a lot of delicious drink specials. We tried quite a few and enjoyed them. There was a lot of vegetarian options on the menu. Couple of my friends had the cauliflower steak and enjoyed it quite a bit. I myself had the catfish, the side of beans and pork stole the show on the dish. The catfish in the dish is good, but not particularly special. I definitely would go back. I was visiting Syracuse for work a week or so ago and had issues finding a place with celiac friendly food and outdoor seating because of my work Covid protocols. I called a few hours before I came in and spoke to Matt. He told me if I came in he would take care of me. I decided to treat myself to dinner and showed up around 7pm. I found Matt who promptly seated me by the window ( at the kiddie table) in their cafe which was closed) he was so accommodating and friendly and went above and beyond to help me enjoy a lovely dinner. Even was unsure if I could have tequila when i ordered a margarita because he didn't want me to get sick. I ordered the scallops with the risotto and asparagus and had one cider and a apple cider margarita. The drinks were amazing. The scallops were a wee bit overcooked and had too much salt on them. The food was ok- and I didn't get sick. The service was above and beyond. Thank you Matthew for helping make my experience there so special. I walked into this place and thought that I was in some bougie restaurant in California or North Carolina or somewhere where the upper middle class live and all the yoga moms and business people and work-boss ladies come in for lunch and a cocktail. Let me just say that the lighting, decor, atmosphere, and color scheme are somehow sophisticated and simple, innovative and traditional, fresh and calming. As you can probably tell from the pictures, it's such a welcoming a refreshing place. The owner/interior designer obviously put a lot of effort into it. I especially loved the honeycomb floor tiles, the baby-blue eggshell color disrupted by the incredible brick wall, and the candles in the bathroom. That's one thing that distinguishes great restaurants from outmoded, ugly, unappealing, un-hip restaurants. You want to make your restaurant feel eccentric, personal, like a place you would want to come and stay. Like a vacation or an oasis. I'm tired of low ceilings, unattractive feel, carpeted floors, basic tables and booths (although I love booths) and the fluorescent lighting casting a terrible filter. Also loved that the waitresses were in cute aprons and they wore jeans. That's fun and different. Anyways, I'm just saying the ambiance of a restaurant should never be taken for granted or undervalued--it's what initially attracts people! Even a hole in the wall place, can be lifted with charm and individuality. The food was a little overpriced, but it was probably the location and quality. I got the burger with a fried goat cheese fritter, onion jam, and watercress and truffle fries. The burger was dry, tbh. But I loved the fixings and I would order it again, even though I got a medium-well so it should have been a bit more tender and moist. The fries kind of reminded me of Burger King fries...I just feel for the pricing that they should be hand cut with the skin still on and they should have a stronger truffle flavor. But I ate all of them, so they weren't awful. I definitely want to come back and try more. Also they have a chic full-bar so I'm going to have to get some cocktails. They also have a convenient little store right attached where they serve coffee and other treats. And they sell a bunch of cocktail scented candles! Check it out, support local.
