Booked for a 60-minute traditional Thai massage/Thai aromatherapy massage several times now - been with both Alex and Vanessa! Thai massage is definitely different in that it requires gentle pressure and lots of stretching to relax the whole body. The space is very clean, calming, and both Alex & Vanessa were so kind and accomodating from the moment I stepped into the room. I was always asked what areas of my body needed more focus - it's always my back. I've been dealing with some pain in my back/spine for a week or so now and let me tell you... spending time with Alex the other day relieved all the tension in my body. He knows what he's doing! Also, the smell of essential oils is extremely relaxing. They are both so incredibly talented and can always pinpoint the source of tension on my body. You should definitely be vocal about how much pressure you want because it can be really painful (but in a good way) if certain areas are tight. I felt so SORE after Vanessa did some work on my back... I definitely NEEDED that massage fasho. I wasn't too sure what to expect out of a Thai massage, the only time I had gotten one was in Thailand (which was somewhat like a rag doll experience, but it felt good?) Anyways Alex was great! The massage consisted a lot of slow stretching of the muscles. This is a funny comparison, but I felt like a tube of toothpaste. Alex made sure to ask where he wanted me to focus on, at the time I just said general body and then if he feels any tension. I love that I was offered tea at the beginning and end of the session. I've been meaning to leave Alex a super stellar review for his little massage studio that is inconspicuously tucked away in this small shopping plaza in the heart of the Castro (you have no idea how many times I missed the entrance after getting out of my Uber!). I've been seeing Alex for everything from deep tissue massages to more traditional Thai stretching and massage work. Alex actually helped me resolve my lower back pain with the help of some PT exercises as well as his point-specific massage over the affected area earlier this year. In terms of COVID, safety, Alex always wears a mask and requires his clients to as well. He will offer hand sanitizer upon entering and will always wash and clean before and after your session. Since he is generally the only masseuse there, I've yet to run into another client or person in the studio at the same time as my appointment since their reopening earlier this year. In general, Alex is a very observant and caring masseuse, he remembers all the injuries I've sustained and would ask about that as well as my workout habits to see what areas he needs to focus on more. His cheery attitude is always a nice pick-me-up after a particularly grueling week or day, so thank you for that! Don't be surprised if you become so relaxed that you doze off, I've definitely fallen asleep during our longer 90-120 minute sessions. I've gone to many masseuses across many cities and all over the Bay Area, and Alex is the most consistent masseuse there is. Best of all, he uses scent-free products with me (forgot if I had told him about my skin allergies), but you will leave the studio feeling not only more relaxed but ALSO not sticky or dry (thank goodness, my biggest pet peeve are oils you cannot get out of your skin that also do not absorb, just gross). 10/10 would recommend him to friends in the Bay after we reopen again, he is FANTASTIC, and everyone should come and support Alex and his wonderful local studio! I got my massage with Noah and he set me right! I have had some issues with my left shoulder and without me mentioning it, he knew and put a lot of work on it. The pressure was firm (as I requested) and after a while he checked with me to see if I needed any modification. I highly recommend Ohm Thai if you are looking for a good quality massage. I've been to a variety of fancy spa locations and although the amenities in those locations can be really nice, I've often come out of those massages feeling like I needed more. However, at Ohm Thai, I have never walked out unhappy (and I have now gone between 5-10 times). My back is always tight and I'm picky about needing good pressure to really get out my knots in my neck/shoulder. I've been to three different masseurs here and all of them know what they are doing! Had my first Thai Massage, and I was helped by Lee J. I liked the service and friendliness in which I was greeted and helped. Lee J was amazing! I came in with an aching, stiff, not very flexible body due to very long driving distances on road trips, that even my efforts of stretching every day plus multiple times during the day while driving, my body was just not having it. I arrived early to Ohm Thai, which is a clean, cute space that I was able to take the Muni to. Alex greeted me and was able to accommodate my early arrival. Before we started, he asked me what my problem areas and took the time to understand where I was aching. I've had enough massages to know that how much I'll enjoy it within 5 seconds of the therapist making contact. As soon as the session I started, I knew it was going to be worth it. I booked a 60 min thai aroma massage, but 30 min in, I asked if I could add another 30 min b/c my muscles were responding so well to Alex's work. Some masseuses do relaxation, others do borderline painful (but good) deep tissue, but Alex had technique. He would target my problem areas without applying what I thought was too much pressure, hit a complementary trigger point, and somehow my tension would collapse. He would follow each release with relaxing strokes. The Thai stretches he applied were much needed, and I felt stretched, relieved, and opened up. A beautifully cozy spot located in an unassuming strip mall on Market, where there's also a great sushi place, Ohm is my new go-to spot to work out my wfh neck and shoulder woes. I've been here 3 times and definitely plan to keep coming back. I always get a Thai aromatherapy massage with Rainy. I prefer a more relaxing massage and Rainy does just that while still rolling out my knots. Thai aromatherapy is an oil massage but they do offer traditional Thai massages. I love massages and I'm a frequent customer at Thai massage places such as Suchada or Siam Thai. However, the massage I had with Kevin was probably one of the very best I have ever had, even in comparison to most of the places I have been to. Kevin got rid of a lot of my knots and he just seemed to intuitively understand exactly where I needed to be massaged the most. I've gone to Alex twice now. I have chronic neck and back pain. During my second appointment, I swear Alex GOT RID of my lower back tightness. I was floating after the second appointment and days later, my lower back pain and tightness was still gone. Of course body pain is something that the individual needs to work on personally, but I will definitely keep going to Alex to help relieve the tightness. I enjoy the Thai massage, because the technique is focused more on relieving tension. It is definitely different from your average relaxation massage, however the pressure points that are worked on really makes a difference if you suffer from chronic pain.
