I love local coffee shops, but Ojai has several of them. The location is very convenient since it's right down town, but I wouldn't say they have the best coffee and it's pretty expensive. It's kinda loud inside and there only a couple small tables where you can sit outside in front. The menu has good selection of salads and sandwiches and the service is friendly. read more

This is one of the most cozy coffee shops here in Ojai, central to everything else you'd need to fit in to your day--shopping, spas, etc. They have free wifi and a good ambiance. So I'll admit I've never actually had coffee from here. But I have had their lunches. And boy are they delicious. I ordered the veggie sandwich on a ciabatta roll with basil pesto sauce and it was so amazing. Full of flavor and it seems as if the veggies where fresh from the Garden. Walked by mid afternoon and checked out their hours. Open until 6. So we drove to a restaurant to eat, then came back downtown at 4:30 for coffee. All the chairs were up so I asked if they were open as sign still said open until 6. No said the young woman. I explained that we made a special trip back downtown because of their sign and that it would have been helpful to have posted something saying they were closing early today. Her response was only that they didn't know until the owner came in and told them to close. Bad business to treat hours that way. If I cannot count on you being open during your advertised hours, why should I even bother? We ended up at Beacon Coffee down the street. Went in here during a quick visit visit to Ojai. ordered cappuccino and tiramisu. Both were good but what was outstanding happened after our visit. Since we were rushing out, i accidentally left a special package for my little ones. It was going to be an hour drive back up the mountain and we were already slated to leave for home. I decided to try my luck and called the store. Fortunately, I spoke to Angel ( literally an angel ) and explained my situation. He offered to find someone who was heading our way and when that didn't pan out he actually mailed the package to me. Who does that??? It's beyond excellent customer service but complete kindness. We stopped in Ojai on our way back home from Santa Barbara. We wanted to try some chai since it was raining and we needed something to warm us up. We walked in and it was completely packed with no place to sit. We ordered our chai latte with nonfat milk and my husband got a lemon bar. The lemon bar was almost $5 if I am not mistaken, which is a lot for a lemon bar! The chai's were priced around the same as other coffee/tea shops. When I drank the chai, it tasted pretty terrible. It was really watered down and definitely not what I would envision a chai latte to be... We added a bit of sweetener to mask the taste, but unfortunately my husband and I both threw out our chais. The coffee competition in Ojai is something else. I think there's maybe five main spots just in the main part of Ojai. So out of all of them this one is in the middle when it comes to my faves. The coffee is good, the only thing that I don't like is how pricey the shop is. I think it's because it's the more tourist coffee shop in town because of the location so they do charge a little more. But that just makes it so it's not a local's favorite. When I ordered an iced blended frappe I was charged extra for my drink to be blended, and extra for whipped cream so my coffee ended up being closer to seven dollars. Anyone who drinks coffee knows this is on the higher side. read more

The coffee is superb. We shared a bagel and lox platter. The toasted bagel was perfect and the lox was of a high quality and very fresh. Cream cheese, red onion, tomato and capers rounded out the platter. There are several coffee houses in Ojai. This is the only one I will go to. Everything else is second rate. read more

This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had in a coffee shop. The woman who made our drinks gave us iced coffees instead of iced lattes (which is what we paid for) and when we asked her to correct them she just added milk instead of making what we paid for! We had to ask again for iced lattes and she was rude and patronizing toward us in response to our request. She made me and my friends feel so bad for asking that we almost just left without our correct drinks! She actually yelled at us across the shop and caused a scene. I have never been so embarrassed by an employee in a business before. It seemed like she was trying to make us feel like we were in the wrong and that we were stuck up. The worst customer experience I have ever had! My two friends and I have all been baristas for years and so we've been on the other end of customer service, and I could never dream of treating a customer the way we were treated. I don't think anything should justify the way we were treated. Honestly I may never want to visit this place again...I've never been made to feel so awful by an employee. The drinks were okay at best once they were remade but for the level of customer service it would never be worth returning to this business for me. read more

More a place to see and be seen than a place to pick up a reliably good cup of joe. I have, in fact, had my worst cup of coffee here--tasted like they absentmindedly just ran it again through already-used grounds. There seems to be high turnover in staff, which may be why it's hard to keep staff trained up. Even when pulled properly, it often tastes like they've over-roasted (i.e. burned) their beans. I do hear they have some good food items nowadays, and it is indeed centrally located. But if you're into good coffee, there are better options in Ojai--the best being Coffee Connection. read more

Iced tea and made-to-order Italian cream sodas were good. Staff WAS NOT!! All of the girls were SO rude. They no longer had the tea my friend ordered and when he asked one of the girls what they did have in stock, she just looked at him and then pointed to the board behind her. Then, come to find out, my friend didn't end up getting the hot tea he ordered anyway and when he went to get a refund, the girl acted like he was bothering her! They showcase 10 kinds of coffee from all over the world when you walk in but they only brew 1 per day. I also ordered a bagel and lox and was asked which of the three bagels they had left I wanted . They were sitting in a bin and looked like they had been there for a few days. I ended up canceling it after finding out the cost. Their pastry display looks a little sad as well. I ordered some espresso and went elsewhere to get something to eat. My coffee came out on one side of the cafe and they have you zig zag back through all the seating to et to the cream/sugar. Place could really use a revamp. Might be a nice place for lunch but not for a small quick breakfast. read more

Employees simply refuse to use a thermometer to make cappuccinos,lattes, etc.. So if you are happy with Luke warm cappuccinos (140 degrees) you will love it. Return the drink to have it properly heated and you get an irritated employee who challenges your claim, and makes you uncomfortable. Come on Owner! Step up to the plate! Its easy: place thermometer in steamed milk, when it hits 140, stop the steam. It will arrive at 160 degrees, the widely known, professional standard serving temperature for hot espresso drinks. Require your employees to abide by this rule or let them go. read more

They made my drink wrong with the wrong temperature and wrong milk (drink was not iced). When I told the lady what I ordered she had the nerve to tell me "do want this iced or not because I have a line..." well I understand you have a line but I waited patiently as well and should be served what I actually ordered and paid for.
