Ok Chicken? How about Scrumptious Chicken, because that's exactly how it is. I wanted Korean Fried Chicken one day, but not have to deal with the more expensive/time consuming places around Chinatown that also sells Korean Fried Chicken. I wanted to get in, get out, and eat. It just so happens that Ok Chicken fits that bill to a tee. Ok Chicken is located in the food court by Greenland Supermarket and while there are plenty of things to order on the menu, I've only ever ordered the Boneless Lunch Special. This special is served with rice, salad, soup, and your choice of boneless chicken: original, sweet chili chicken, soy glazed, spicy glazed, and furikake teriyaki. I've tried original, soy glazed, and furikake teriyaki so far with furikake teriyaki just edging out as my favorite, but you honestly can't go wrong. The price for this is $10.95 until 3pm before it becomes $12.95 after 3pm. Considering the large amount of food I receive that I can't always finish and have to save the rest for leftovers later, I don't mind the price at all. There never seems to be a line whenever I go to satisfy my craving and it doesn't take long for my food to get made either. The only downside is that Ok Chicken isn't open on Sundays, so if you're craving that Korean Fried Chicken goodness, you'll have to go elsewhere. read more

After trying the chicken, I was highly disappointed.... 1. 6 piece chicken: no it was not 6 pieces it was 2 pieces cut into 6 pieces and breaded into oblivion. 2. Chicken was extremely dry and over cooked. 3. Sauces were ok but I was missing some sauces. It's really hard to give this more than 2 stars. There was more breading than chicken. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because their sauce options were very limited. I've gotten takeout from Ok Chicken three times since November 2020 and it is a solid Korean Fried Chicken spot. I always order the Whole Chicken ($22.95) with the sauce on the side. As for the sauces, "Sweet Chili" is my favorite and my husband enjoys "Spicy" (I like to add a bit of the Spicy sauce to the Sweet Chili to get the perfect amount of heat). I was hesitant to order fried chicken for takeout with concerns regarding sogginess, but they pack the chicken in eco-friendly kraft paper boxes and purposefully leave the box (and subsequent plastic bag) open to allow the steam to escape - brilliant. After a 15-minute drive, I was very impressed that the chicken didn't lose any of it's crunch and it was still quite warm. The chicken is great. It's really crispy without the greasiness, juicy, and although much better with the sauce, it's still tasty without it. The chicken comes with the usual Korean Fried Chicken accompaniments of Salad (shredded cabbage and thousand island-esque dressing) and Pickled Radish, and both are good. I enjoy a lot of vegetables with my chicken, so I like getting extra sides ($1.00-1.50/ea). Also, the portion of sauce is more than enough for me, but if you're getting sauce on the side and you like things really saucy, I'd recommend ordering extra ($1.50/ea). I've also had their Chicken Burger ($7.95) that comes with a very large fried chicken breast (boneless), American cheese, sliced tomato, iceberg lettuce, thinly-sliced onion, and that thousand island-esque dressing on an equally large crustini bun. I got my chicken sans sauce, but there are four sauce options available. The sandwich was delicious and although I would rather eat fried chicken thighs on a sandwich, I'm not complaining. I didn't eat the sandwich right away since I was so focused on the fried chicken, but it held up pretty well with the exception of the bottom bun getting super soggy from the dressing. They've added new, random items to their menu recently like Nachos, and they are surprisingly good - the thick and crunchy housemade tortilla chips are topped with tasty nacho cheese and pico de gallo. My parents were fighting over them, lol. Service was pretty slow on a Thursday lunch for a fast food food court restaurant located inside a Korean grocery. Price was a little expensive for lunch, if you don't purchase their lunch special of $9.95 bucks boneless chicken before 3 pm and after 3pm it's $14.95. I ordered the large Chicken with Half soy and Half spicy flavors which was deceiving bec. it was advertised as $21.95 for large, but there's an extra charge of $1.95 for 1 flavor and $ 3.95 for 2 flavors when you order different flavors of the wings. I asked the guy at the counter for soup and hesitated at first to give soup bec. He said it's not for sale , but after explaining to him this is already included in your lunch special and I don't mind paying for soup. He eventually agreed and gave it to me for free. Chicken size was huge cuts of drumpstick and wings. The soy chicken was very sweet and the sauce was dripping on our plate. Flavor is at par with Bonchon chicken. Their chicken is made to order as once ordered it takes about 10 mins to make. They have a good selection of sauces to pick from to go along with the fried chicken. I decided to order their soy glazed boneless chicken and original boneless chicken. The portion was huge and one order was enough to serve 2 people easily. The chicken was crispy and actually made with chunks of chicken meat with just the right amount of batter on the outside. It was lunch time when I arrived and even during the pandemic there was a line up to order. Luckily, they were quite efficient and I was in and out within 15 minutes. The just ok part is the flavor and the crunchiness of the batter. The soy glazed was overwhelmingly sweet l, like almost straight corn syrup with a hint of soy. I was hoping for a savory sweet soy garlic like bonchon but it doesn't compare. Also there was way too much sauce (think pool on plate), it definitely made the batter coating a little softer. Bonchon is horrible because their chicken is dry and small...if only this place could get the flavor and batter right then we would be definitely above just an ok rating. OK Chicken specializes in Asian Korean-style fried chicken, which uses a different coating, but has as much of a delicious crunch and flavorfulness to the American Southern-style fried chicken. The leftovers also warm up well in the toaster oven, even after freezing it! So far, I've been here twice and tried both the boneless and bone-in options. I think the bone-in chicken is crunchier on the outside and more juicy inside, and I like that they chop up the whole chicken into bite-sized pieces (which also probably makes it easier and faster to fry). The wait is about 15-20 minutes because the chicken is cooked fresh to order, and another big plus is how they know to pack it in an open container so that you don't get soggy, steamed chicken if you're taking it home to eat later. I'm not sure how much the glaze affects the crispiness when poured over hot chicken, so I would suggest ordering the regular fried chicken with sauce on the side. Also, if you order half-and-half, it means a whole fried chicken cut up with your choice of 2 sauces and ordering the fried chicken (about a dollar less in cost) will get you just the cut-up chicken with no sauces. Adequate portion size and not too greasy. I think the Korean fried chicken is also slightly smaller and more expensive than the American fried version, but I think it's worth paying a little extra for the scrumptious taste and getting it freshly made. I'm not a vegetable lover, and I usually skip on the radish at most chicken places. That being said, I cleared two entire containers of pickled radish at this place. It's fresh, crunchy, and goes amazingly with the chicken. Their coleslaw is also to die for. Seriously, all of their stuff is golden. It's worth the wait and the money. We've ordered 3 times from this place, and on our second visit, the woman working there added some free fries and a soda to our order for no particular reason.
