We came for lunch mid week. The service was sparse and it wasn't busy. The service started off bad with a dirty glass and a fork with dried food still on it. There seemed to be a single server for the entire restaurant, who could barely manage the 4 tables, only checking in on us sparingly. Pretty sure we were there 15 min before we were even able to order. The ambiance is late 90's Asian.. dark, moody and oddly designed. The menu was large and limiting at the same time, most of the options were very pricey and no lunch specials, small portions or kids meals. Drink prices were insane, almost $5 for a coke.. even the cheapest meal was in the $15+ range. At this price I had high expectations of the food but was disappointed. I ordered the hibachi, served with a bland watery soup, a salad (basically for big chunks of iceberg drenched in dressing) and chicken hibachi that was dry and lacked any real flavor. The rest of family had a mix of dishes, all very underwhelming and forgettable. To top off the meal we had to wait about 20 min to get a check, pay and get out. read more

We had take out for our first night in HHI. Wish we had eaten at OKKO as interior looked very interesting when I picked up the food. Mongolian beef was very tasty. I was not overly impressed with flavor of the General Tso chicken. It was pretty bland. Pork dumplings were great as well as sushi roll. Would recommend giving them a try!! read more

After five days of SC fried food we decided to go Japanese. This restaurant's hibachi room is not clean. We sat down to find a large plate and cutlery (typical) but many fried rice kernels and dried soy sauce that flew off the grill to the table from the previous service. I noticed the other tables were the same. Server was annoyed that I requested the table be cleaned. The fried rice they gave us had nothing in it but egg and soy sauce. The soup was the best part of the meal. Shrimp appetizer (2 shrimp, typical) was given to you LAST after your main course. Chef was not entertaining and boring. My family of four were in and out of there in 40 minutes. Rush rush with no people waiting to get him. Not relaxing meal. read more

When we first entered the restaurant, I though oh boy...one of those trendy millennial places. I was right. The shopping center where it's located leaves a lot to be desired, but the restaurant is nice. Nice and loud. We had a group of young people that were so loud next to us, other people at their own table were telling them to "shush". It is also VERY dark in the restaurant and it's decor. Could care less about COVID. If you can't provide the service you are in business to provide then close the doors to allow for someone else to try to do better. We had a party of 12 with an 8:15 reservation. We waited till around 8:30 which was fine. I think this place is good for sushi. I enjoyed my California roll and my rainbow roll. I tried some shrimp tempura also. My husband got the hibachi shrimp and steak. Yet another let down on the steak. The place was dark to the point we had to use flashlights to read the menu. Service was okay but not great. They include the gratuity on the check so be sure to look for that. First time at a hibachi grill where they make the food in front of you. It was quite the experience. I recommend going with a friend or family if you do so. You kind of have to wait for another group to come in before they even serve you. As soon as we were sat at a table with a family the guy came over. Portions were served equally. The guy is a real showman. Singing, fire tricks, throwing stuff into patrons mouths and semi-good food. Enough for two days really. Absolutely gorgeous place! Once you are seated in this beautiful restaurant you forget you're in a nondescript strip mall in South Carolina. Food was fresh, extremely tasty and it was obvious that the sushi chefs are masters in their craft. My pad Thai and my daughters Mongolian chicken were extremely flavorful and came out piping hot! This was my first time I ate at OKKO. Excellent Massaman Curry with just the right amount of heat of the spices. I felt the sushi was a but too soft but still enjoyable. You must ask for the brown rice which I did after white rice was served. John, the bartender, was very busy but still managed excellent friendly service. The ambiance is lovely and the restaurant is very clean. The couple next to me eating at the bar as well were served a huge portion of absolutely very fresh delicious looking sushi and a huge portion of tempura shrimp. John was making very strong cocktails. I do not drink but he was not skimping on the liquor used! Make reservations for busy nights if you want a table; otherwise, there will be waiting for a table. The sushi ingredients at the sushi bar all look extremely fresh and with the many other rooms dining areas this is a must go to restaurant especially if you like Japanese Thai style food. read more

OKKO is delicious. We usually order online, which is quick and easy, and pick up soon after. We've tried many things here - sushi, hibachi, Thai, dumplings, etc. We have never had anything bad. Excellent flavor. I was really surprised at the hibachi takeout - it was so good, even if we have to miss the experience! We hope to dine in soon, but the take out has always been on point. They are polite, friendly, and really organized. Love this place for a couple's night or big family dinner! read more

By far the best sushi spot in the Hilton Head area. Excellent service, choices, drink menu is super. Their sake list is second to none. From the seaweed salad which was crisp, cold with just right sesame notes to the tender semi-sweet octopus, a must if you are in the area. I agree with many of the ratings for this restaurant. My nephew and I went for Hibachi tonite and Covid precautions are critical for this type of dining. I will definitely go back! From the time you enter the restaurant, it is clear that Covid is forefront - whether on the 'sushi/restaurant' side or the 'hibachi' side of the restaurant, they do a great job of social distancing. The food was outstanding, and our hibachi chef did a great job! I look forward to returning as they had exactly what I wanted - great food in a Covid safe environment. Bravo! read more

Holy moly, pricey. It felt closer to $$$. I got the Ginger beef ($15.95). It was good and the presentation was nice and the portion was good too. But it would more commonly be around $10-12 at other places. The Under the Sea Roll ($16.95) was off their specialty menu I believe. It comes with some thin white wrap instead of roasted seaweed. It was good and they make the roll thick but I felt it was too high for one roll. The miso soup was $2.50. You're paying for the interior, which looks like a European bar more than a restaurant. It was nice and modern and all that but I prefer to pay less for the same food elsewhere. We went during off hours at around 3pm so it was empty. I felt she could have checked on us more often but maybe they have the servers doing other jobs during the off hours. Let's just say that. Overall, you can do better at HH. read more

This place has got to be the best on the island! In all fairness, I'm sure there are many other good Asian Fusion restaurants on the island, too, but we thought the food was SO good here that after trying just one other, we immediately returned to OKKO the next time. Came in for dinner. Had a California roll, gyoza , vegetable fried rice and a hot/sour soup. We sat at the tables next to the sushi bar. It was extremely dark I actually had to use my cell phone to see my meal. I did ask if they could turn up the lights a bit so we could see and they did walk over to make it lighter. The only problem was they didn't turn the lights up at all and then just walked away. The sushi bar staff are always friendly and fun. I would not sit at a table again. read more

Our first night in HH, we were looking for somewhere open late. Checked reviews and Okku seemed to fit the bill for what we were looking for. Great interior, very trendy. Service was just okay, she could have checked in a bit more and we waited for bill for quite some time. I ordered seseme shrimp, she brought chicken instead, I told her it would be fine. She seemed happy I replied that way.All and all we were one of the last groups to dine that night, and felt a bit neglected. The rolls were fantastic. We had Kamikaze roll and Super Tuna. Both were overly stuffed in a good way...fish to rice ratio was fantastic. Boyfriend ordered the tuna hand roll and unagi which he seemed to enjoy. I had seseme chicken, which as mentioned should have been shrimp. It was good, but I would probably skip next time and stick to rolls, and sushi. read more

Best sushi in Hilton Head. Great wine selection. Soon as you walk through the door your mind is soothed and you feel like you are in a spa. We strictly ordered off the sushi menu except that I had hot and sour soup. The hot snd sour soup was excellent with very nice flavor. The sushi was very fresh and very good. Service was attentive and good. I believe there is an hibachi section of the restaurant but we arrived too late and they were closed. Ambience is really nice, a good spot for dinner. Drunken noodles is really good, similar to Thai cuisines I have tried before. Exaggeration aside (though really not an exaggeration), my fiancé and I discovered OKKO on a summer trip to Hilton Head and wow were we ever blown away. It's still our favorite sushi we've ever had. Incredibly fresh, top tier service, beautiful ambience and an all around experience that make Okko truly one of a kind. We have eaten here twice for hibachi and both times were fabulous! The wine, beer & cocktail list is great; there's something for everyone, even for picky wine drinkers like me! After we placed our orders, we were given small bowls of miso soup and a salad with an unbelievably delicious ginger dressing. Our hibachi chef came and started our dinners. He was funny and entertaining and made everyone laugh! I had the shrimp and chicken combination. The portions are generous and the food is really delicious. We ordered some sushi for an appetizer. The sushi presentation was impressive and the sushi itself was excellent. My family thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience at OKKO. I highly recommend coming here.
