I've been to many old Chicago pizza restaurants and they all have one thing in common - Slowwwww service. It's not necessarily the servers' fault at this location. The kitchen is usually backed up. I know this because all the teenage servers are sharing a booth having fun while customers wait for their order. I asked a server what the eta on my to go order is. She replied "what does ETA mean?" Ok, that was a nightmare of a visit. Yes we were there on a Friday night but our server was not familiar with anything. We'd as something and she'd say "I believe ___" and the start looking through the menu herself like it was her first time there. There were 4 of us. Thankfully we had ordered a small appetizer of cheese bread that was really yummy because our food took FOREVER to arrive. Finally, they came out with 3 meals and said they just realized that they didn't cook my individual pizza so they brought me a complementarity side salad to tide me over. It still was long into the others' meals before my pizza came. I'm fairly sure they gave me a different crust than I ordered. I got the Thai Pie. It was edible but not anything I'd ever order again. One person in our party ordered a spaghetti bake and it came out lasagna. It was just a mess. Food was meh. They did comp part of the meal and the made apologies. Wells are $3 during early hh. I ordered the jalapeño pretzel bites (also on HH special). The pretzel bites were a bit doughy - just a hair undercooked. Although the name implies spicy, I didn't think they were but we each have different palettes and tolerances. I sat at the bar and received good service. This was approximately around 330 pm on a Tuesday. There were a handful of patrons in that section with one bartender. I chose the Raspberry icepick drink from the hh menu- but too much 'sour' in it for my taste. I don't know if this is the way it's supposed to taste or if they were just heavy on the mix, which I tend to be sensitive to. I plan on coming back and will hopefully have more time to sample the pizza... Update: came back again for HH. I tried the cheesy garlic bread on the hh menu. I actually really liked this. It was served 22 minutes after I ordered. The dining area was nice and clean, with a long bar that had plenty of taps, nice background music, and plenty of TVs. So disappointing. Aside from the fact that our pizza was made wrong (mushrooms when we asked for none, but we picked them off since we didn't have time to wait for another), there were a few other disappointing aspects. We ordered the Chi Town Trio but asked to sub mozzarella sticks with garlic bread. The manager refused even though garlic bread is $2 cheaper. We would've even paid an up charge. The only diet drink they offer is Diet Coke, so I got an unsweet tea but they don't have Splenda. My husband wanted half sweet/half unsweet but they don't have sweet tea. After several satisfactory or more visiting and dining experiences, today we had a real clunker. Those of you who follow my writings, know that I don't carry a very critical bone in my body. Until we met Jacob Conn, (name spelled phonetically) our bartender/server. Upon arriving, we ordered our burger choice, and looked over the beer selections, knowing we could start on our beers and the burger would join in the fun. Order placed, we ordered the selected two beers. After 15 minutes spent watching our server Jacob close out the other end of the bar's patrons, I got his attention. Asking what happened to our drinks, I was finally told to wait as the keg had to be changed. He'd never told us that or we'd have taken our second choice right then. After waiting another 15 minutes trying to get the attention of the bartender Jacob, to remind him of our beers, I was told we had to choose a different beer which we did. No resulting service following that order, this time either. So, almost a full 60 minutes after this experience began, and never receiving our burger ordered at first, nor receiving any of the chosen beers, we left. As we left, Jacob Conn's voice rang loud out to us across the room--"Thanks for coming in." Finally noticed by our server! Sad end to what previously had been a chain of favorable visits. read more

Absolutely DO NOT waste your money or time. This place is TERRIBLE. Our server was nice and all but not very attentive. To start we were sat at a dirty table. We were one of 3 tables in the restaurant half the time. The chicken strips were thing and very dry we sent them back, the fries were not even warm, mushy and tasted like they had been sitting out since lunch (it's 6:30), deposit us asking for extra crispy fries. Our kids' penne alfedos were very dry and gritty and the noodles and the noodles were undercooked. Then my oldest got veggies as her side and she gagged trying to eat the celery because it tasted like dirty water. So I tried it and that's exactly what it tasted like as if someone had them soaking in dirty water instead of actually cleaning them. such a terrible experience. We used to eat here all the time and then they went downhill about 3 to 5 years ago so we stopped coming here than they all started to close. We wanted to try some thing we hadn't had in a while, so we picked here and are completely disappointed with our decision. We will not be back. Wish I would have seen the reviews before hand. ETA: The Manager's response is just for "face". Just look at all the other reviews. Fries. Fries are one of the easiest things to get right. But when they snap like chips and are saltier than pasta water than something isn't right. Overdone and oversalted. The meatball sub is alright, but just has too much bread. A fine basil chiffonade would have been a better option and more cheese would have sent the sandwich over the line. I also had the Chicken and Bacon Mac. It was with cavatappi pasta, small bacon cubes, and chicken pieces. I'll have to say it was super tasty and I would recommend it. Malissa is best beer tender in Olathe!! Personal prop there as it is the staff that has kept me coming back to two different locations. The menus are standard across the OC chain so nothing should stand out, although I have been disappointed that they pulled my favorite wing sauce off the menu (Thai Fire is gone ). This location in Olathe is smaller which is nice, you don't feel like you should be some place else on slow nights. And their kitchen staff is better than most! Only real complaint is the beer lists. I wish their bar manager would think a little more outside the box when not being controlled by OC Mini Tour rules. read more

I stopped in here with my girlfriend and kids on a Sunday night. We were immediately seated and served our beverages. The kids were given the standard 4 color crayon pack and kids' menu. My girlfriend asked our waiter if the artichoke dip was any good. He said "oh yeah, it's one of my favorites!" I've previously had this dip at Old Chicago and agreed with him that it was good. We ordered it. The dip came out with vegetables and toasted bread. It did not taste quite right. My girlfriend informed the waiter of our unfortunately "funky" dip. He apologized. A few minutes later our entrees arrived. I got the Vegetarian Chicago Seven stromboli with fries. It contained green chilies, roma tomatoes, mushrooms, black olives, green peppers, red onions and cheese. It was good, but not as good as the calzone I usually get. We skipped dessert, but the kids got the sundaes from the kids' menu. When the waiter brought us our bill, he actually took off the order of artichoke dip and didn't charge us for the sundaes. He definitely improved our dining experience. Overall, the service was good, but the food wasn't as good as what I'm used to at Old Chicago. They have expanded their menu since my last visit, and there are a few new vegetarian options available now in addition to the old ones. read more

I are in on a week night and it was surprisingly pretty empty. We were seating right away and had our choice of options. The server was on it. Very quick in getting drink orders. He also remembered to come back to people who hadn't decided yet. There was a decent beer selection and lots of mixed drink. I was impressed that the server got everyone's order correct even though he didn't write it down. The pizza was delicious and came out quick. The crust had such a good taste and there was a very generous amount of toppings. It seemed a little pricy but my individual pizza was big enough to save half for lunch the next day. I also want to repeat that they did not skimp on the toppings at all! Plenty of meats and vegetables on there. Also, it reheats really well the next day. Disappointed. The Tai Pie is not on the menu right now, but I was told they still have a "key for it". The Tai Pie is legendary here.. or it was. It was the best pizza I've ever had. Not anymore. It's disgusting thin slop with slightly burnt crust. Plus it never had green onions on it before. They put a ton of them on. Not very much (if any) broccoli like it used to have. Not enough chicken. It had a TON of vegetables though. A ridiculous amount till the point where it was like a "veggie pizza", instead of a tie pie. It had the sweet tai glaze, but even that tasted weird. It was not even half as thick as it used to be. I don't even think they gave me the deep dish option. Since the Covid a lot of these restaurants have gotten lazy with their food and they don't seem like they try anymore. It was thin slop with tons of veggies and just tasted like crap.
