WORST service I've ever had! Lady w glasses and long hair in ponytail. Sat us, took our orders, came back w appetizers...literally dropped them on table and ran, then we didn't see her again for 20 minutes. Our appetizers came w 2 sauces she didn't name or explain. We ran out of water 5 minutes into the appetizers. One of our people's dish was ready and sitting under the heat lamp for over 10 minutes. When waitress finally came back to our table, it was with the food that I had seen sitting there for over 10 minutes. I explained that to her and we asked her for water. she took the plate back and apologized; said she would get a new one. We waited another 5 minutes for water... nothing. My very first experience at the old Cuban Café was incredible! The server was extremely friendly! The atmosphere itself was beautiful, definitely not what you expect from what you see outside. Being a native "Miamian" I know Cuban food. This place is on point. Great service and great food ( I had the Churrasco and my Cuban husband had the Milanesa De Pollo.) GREAT Congri as well. Everything was as good as the Cuban resturants in Miami. We also had a healthy shot of Petron. They have a full bar and are not skimpy on the pours. Well worth the money. Makes me feel like home. Not happy at all with this restaurant today. I have always loved going there and supporting them and especially my Cuban heritage. Those employees ( ladies) give Cubans a bad name. They are not very friendly. We walked in and we were not greeted. No one that came in was greeted either. However , when a so called manager walked in the same lady behind the counter quickly greeted her. We waited to place our order and the least she could have done is to acknowledge us and let us know she would be with us. Well, that didn't happen. The quality of the food has changed and mind you.... I'm very well aware of our covid situation so I won't be too hard on the food. I got up to ask for ketchup and being Cuban , I asked her for it as Cubans do and she acted as if she didn't know what I was saying being a latina herself and she corrected me by saying it in English. Really!!! I wish this restaurant would hire employees that understand what a real Cuban restaurant is all about. I love my Cuban food, but the attitude of the women there as employees is not very inviting at all. My guy friend always goes with me and he always notices how the majority of the women employees are so stuck up. So sad. We will not be going there anymore. read more

We have eaten here several times for breakfast and found the food very good and good service as well so my wife & I wanted to try dinner. Place was packed (usually a good sign) and they seated us immediately. Well then the wheels came off. We waited approx 15-20 min with no acknowledgement. Servers coming and going. No manager or server ever checked in. Not even water. One server stopped by and asked us if we ordered we said no and she walked away. Another 5 min and still nobody. We got up and left. I don't think they noticed. Too bad. We like to support "mom & pop" places but come on, you have to at least try to earn our business. read more

I was all too eager to return for dinner with my boyfriend so he can try out the place for himself on a Tuesday. Beginning with the drinks the iced tea had a weird taste to it. I ordered the Churrasco (skirt steak) with rice and beans and yuca mojo. His order was the same. I could not believe it! The meat was rubber-like and had no flavor, as I took bites of my rice I would come across rice bits that were raw, and to top it all off the beans and yuca had no flavor at all whats so ever. Than I normally have had it. Almost like it was slightly marinated in bbq sauce. I ordered a beef empanada and there was very little beef filling in it. Pros: the food was awesome otherwise. The pastry the empanada was made with was soooo good. And they make some of the best sweet plantains I've eve had. The portions were really big too- perfect for taking home. The food was good, but the portions have gotten way smaller. the service was awesome, shout out to Camilo. but if I had to say anything about it is that the tres leche is always 80% frosting, 20% cake. I take two bites and the cake is done, and it wasn't even wet. The idea of this restaurant was nice. The decorations was just as nice as well. From there i have no understanding as to why Old Cuban Cafe was far from remaining classic. No imidiate glass of water or bread, as all cuban restaurants of my 25 years have they never. I assume it to be better with sandwiches. Yet i ordered a churasco that was served on a hot fajita like pan. No chimichurri. The beans may have been served to soon not holding any flavor. No disrespect to any employees aside from disregarding to assure everyone had consitant glass of water. They were kind. .. I love Cuban food and have been to many in Orlando but I think Old Cuban Cafe is one of the best! Service was very friendly and they have great prices. I had the roasted pork with onions, congri and maduros! So good! My husband had a spin on a Cuban sandwich with Chorizo (can't remember the name) but he said it was amazing. Also, the rice pudding was very tasty! Did I mention the gargantuan pitcher of Sangria we couldn't even finish??!!! It's the biggest sangria pitcher I've ever seen in a restaurant and very good, not too sweet! We loved it so much from last night, we are going again tonight with some friends that have never been. Service was horrible, part of the order was wrong and the waitress totally forgot to place one part of the order. We had to ask for things over and over. I asked for the price of the Sangria and was told the regular price instead of the happy hour price. Food came out in a pot and we did not get a serving spoon or plates. Delicious and authentic. My husband and I are both Cuban and grew up in South Florida so it is very hard for us to enjoy Cuban food in Orlando. We came here for breakfast and I pretty sure we should have gotten something else on the menu. I got the Cuban omelette and holy carbs. You get a tiny omelette, with basically half a loaf of tostada, and French fries. The tostada was bigger then the omelette! We did order the mozzarella empanada and it was delicious. That with the cafe con leche was delish. I honestly would have been happy with those two items. I think I will be back to try something else. read more
