4/19/2026 3 1/2 Stars - Given 1/2 Star more due to good customer service. But stars taken out due to disappointing donut flavors and online order cancellation without alerting me in advance. Not my first time at Old Ferry Donut, but this would be my first review. Saw online that they had limited edition Dubai donuts, so wanted to try it. Also, trying other donut flavors I've not tried before. I've had and enjoyed their popular flavors such as Butter Pistachio, Tiramisu, and Creme Brulee donuts many times before at their Buena Park and now closed Cerritos location. DO NOT ORDER ON OLD FERRY DONUT WEBSITE!!! Placed an order on the same day for pick-up. I asked a family member who was in Buena Park that day to pick up in my stead. I was told that the online order got cancelled due to problems on their website ordering system. The manager was fixing that issue. I did not get an email, phone call or text alerting me of that in advance. If I was picking up the order, I would not have been happy about that. IF you want to order ahead: Order via Door Dash or call the store directly. Old Ferry website is currently having issues and orders may go through alongside payments, but the payment will get cancelled on their side. DUBAI CHOCO According to their website, this was available only at the Buena Park location. Filling is in like a cream cheese flavor with that creamy, tangy flavor. Middle is kadayif, which gives it that crunchy texture. Then the outer layer is covered in chocolate coating and a dusting of cocoa powder. Overall, it does not taste like dubai chocolate. There's a vague flavor of it, but overall the flavors are all over the place with the tangy cream cheese flavored filling, crunchy kadayif and chocolate on top. It definitely needed pistachio paste! With everything said, the donut texture was good. DUBAI LOTUS Nothing reminded me of a biscoff. It was also made of a cream cheese flavored filling with kadayif in the middle. Top was sprinkled with biscoff, but it didn't lend any flavors. The donut had a good fluffy texture. I liked this one better than the Dubai Choco. PEANUT BUTTER & JELLY Tasted like peanut butter and raspberry. Sharp, tangy raspberry jam. Crunchy chopped peanuts on top. The filling was creamy peanut butter. However, wished it was strawberry or grape filling instead. The donut was a bit dense, which took away from the overall experience. Also, the raspberry jam was not a good choice. COCONUT Tasted like tangy plain yogurt and coconut combined. More sour flavor. Coconut glaze and coconut topping on top adds more sweetness. Don't like the aftertaste of the over sweet glaze. Also, a bit fake tasting too. COFFEE CREAM BALL Definitely has that fake coffee flavor, but a cappuccino-like flavor cream. There was powdered sugar and cocoa on top. Donut was fluffy. MANGO CREAM BALL Fake, fake, fake mango flavor with mango flavored powder on top. The mango filling texture was creamy, yet it was not packed and was given little. Donut texture was decent. Out of everything I tried, the Dubai Lotus was most enjoyed. The worst was the Mango Cream Ball. CUSTOMER SERVICE Although I did not get an email, text or phone call in advance of my order cancellation, I did talk with a staff member over the phone once I found out my order was cancelled. She apologized and gave me an explanation as to what was going on. She gave an extra complimentary donut (Cookies & Cream) which was eaten in transit, so I never got to taste it. She also gave us a discount too, which was nice. My overall experience of the donuts purchased was disappointing. The flavors I've tried today, I would not purchase again. However, I will stick to the flavors I have enjoyed: Butter Pistachio and Tiramisu. The customer service was great albeit no one let us know of the cancellation earlier. But she made up for it, which I appreciate.
I came here pretty late at night and this was one of the places still open so we decided to grab dessert since it seemed like a pretty popular place. There was just one guy working and he was nice! It's pretty small inside so definitely more of a grab and go vibe. I tried the strawberry cream filled donut. It could have been because I came at night, but the donut was pretty dry and stale. The cream inside was really fluffy and more on the sweeter side. I could possibly give this place another try earlier in the day if I'm ever there again!
I'm not a big donut fan but have been wanting to visit this place! And, it did not disappoint. The shop itself had a really nice theme! I loved the interior design. It's a bit small with only enough room to order and one area to eat. However, there are tables and chairs outside. We got the tiramisu donut and it was delicious! The donut was airy and the cream is light. It wasn't too sweet, just perfect. Highly recommend!
6/5/26 Old Ferry Donut Buena Park, CA... I ordered Pistachio & Peanut Butter Donuts on National Donut Day! No deal here, but these donuts were great! The guy at the front counter was really nice. Parking structure in back. Big place here, many food and drink places to choose from, 4 different levels. This business is located on the 1st floor just coming out of the parking structure and was easy to find as it was one of the first ones I saw. Ample parking as their is at least 4 levels as well that I saw. Clean store inside and vibrant with the orange color. Come and partake! Highly recommend!
Really great donut spot at The Source plaza. First tried it last week and had to come back to try more flavors. That's how you know it made a good first impression. Donuts have unique flavor profiles yet are still light and airy and not overly sweet. I had the Earl Grey donut and I love their cake donut! I tried the matcha today and it is a yeast donut and while good, I prefer the cake donut. My husband is obsessed with their raspberry bomb that has real raspberry filling inside. He also tried the Boston Creme and enjoyed it. Something for everyone here.

While their donuts command a premium price of $5-$7 per donut, their size and generous fillings make them a truly worthwhile treat.
I tried the Cookie and Cream and Butter Pistachio flavored donuts and they were incredible! I ordered on a delivery app, so I can't say anything for the location or staff, but these were the best donuts I've had. They were huge, I only had half of one at once, the toppings are flavorful and they do not skimp out. The fillings were super delicious as well, and all the donuts were well filled. They were like really tasty flavored cream puff donuts. I definitely want to try more of the flavors!
I went here on a Thursday evening and was craving a butter pistachio donut. I have been back multiple times and the service here is so quick! Staff are so friendly to ask questions as well. I really love the ambiance in the store and the outdoor seating to enjoy. We even got a donut on the house - the maple pecan - which was so nice of them! I highly recommend trying such high quality donuts here at the source and I will definitely stop by again.
I've passed by Old Ferry Donut countless times during my shopping sprees at The Source but only told myself I would get one if I was truly craving a donut. My sweet tooth kicked in and I ended up buying the random choice mystery box of 4. Now I'm addicted to their donuts! Their flavors are all so unique, and even went viral for their Pistachio Butter donut. Upon opening my box, I received one! I also got what looked like a PB&J flavor, tiramisu, and another coffee powder dusted donut. All of them tasted great. Each donut is indulgent, so I only took a few bites out of each. To drink, they have some of their own beverages in the cooler section. I got a banana milk pouch to go with the donuts. I'd say if you're unsure, go for the mystery box. It's a good deal and I wasn't mad at any of the flavors. They're delicious and I would surely come again to try other flavors!
Very cute donut shop in the source. Staff were all nice as well. The donuts are all super sweet and a tad bit underwhelming. It was still good (you can't really go wrong with sugar) but not too different from what I'd get at any other donut shop. I got the earl grey donut which didn't taste like earl grey but rather a real sweet glazed donut. The donut is also kinda dense. The crème brûlée was just a filled donut and same for the matcha- I couldn't really taste any matcha. Cute place! you can't go wrong if you're coming here for a random sweet treat, but nothing super spectacular.
I have seen Old Ferry in several YT videos and always wanted to try. I was the Source post dinner and happened to pass by Old Ferry and decided to give it a try. The employees there was so nice and provided recommendations when I asked them which were their favorites. Based upon their suggestion, I decided on the butter pistachio. The packaging was super cute and I was in and out in a few minutes. There is some limited seating outside, which was good because I could enjoy my treat and people watch. As for the donut, I really enjoyed it, the donut was fresh and the butter pistachio was creamy. I would say that it was pretty sweet, so would definitely consider that if you don't like sweets. Overall, I had a good experience and would try another donut next time I am in the area.
the best pistachio donut ever!! it's popular for a reason :) the donuts are light and fluffy. pistachio had a nice crunch and pistachio flavor. it wasn't too sweet creme brûlée so it was a little disappointing as the top wasn't crispy any more. donut wasn't as soft as the pistachio one. service is nice and prompt and the inside is clean. there's places to eat and enjoy outside read more

order: pistachio donut cream brûlée donut mango donut highlights: - very friendly staff - decorated interior - the donuts are amazing, price is a bit steep but it's good for a treat! - I especially liked the pistachio donut, the cream brûlée one was also very good but not too crunchy (I understand though since it may have been sitting for a bit) cons: - the price is a bit steep, but as I said before, it's good for a treat overall: I would visit again! Such a cute shop inside! Happy to have experienced it with no line. Service inside was kind and friendly. I ordered a creme brulee donut because I've always wanted to try one! No seating inside but had some tables outside the shop and plenty of seating throughout the mall. Donut taste is where they lost the star. Donut did not have enough filling in my opinion, the brulee part was barely there and it was cold. Maybe we were getting an old batch. It made me want to try another creme brulee donut, but maybe not from this place. I recommend trying the pastries in the bakery on the 2nd floor if you have a sweet tooth, those looked better! read more

The donuts were good, but nothing spectacular for me. I still prefer the hot donuts at Krispy Kreme. The tiramisu was better than the pistachio. The cream inside was a bit much for me. Too creamy and sweet. HAPPY DONUTING! read more

Delicious! I recommend the pistachio butter donut. It has a hidden layer (or two) of cream, soooo good! Donuts run just under $5 a pop so do expect to spend a chunk of change if buying for the fam. Small location where you can take donuts to go and eat elsewhere within the source mall. Service is fast and friendly. read more
I stopped by close to closing, so there were fewer options, but I got the butter pistachio and the raspberry ball. The service was easy and fast, and the box the donuts come in is super cute. OMG THR butter pistachio was absolutely delicious and definitely lives up to the hype!The raspberry was okay, pretty much what you'd expect and a bit on the sweeter side. I'd love to come back and try more flavors next time! read more
There are plenty of Old Ferry Donut shops around but this one is one of the best. Located in the first floor of the Source shopping center, this is one of my favorite donuts spots, a small shop with very friendly staff and fast service. I usually don't have any cravings for donuts but on the rare occasion when I do, this is the place to go to. Once I tried it, I had to get my wife onto this shop as I totally understand the hype. Two of their most popular items are the Butter Pistachio & the Tiramisu, which we tried on this occasion. Both donuts are of course unique compared to other donuts, not overly sweet, ingredients are filled perfectly inside the donut itself. Love the uniqueness & the packaging as well, perfect for any type of occasion. Overall, love the high quality ingredients, high quality, super well made and doesn't fall apart easily. Love the cute orange theme and love the upscale for this spot, super clean and will be back whenever I'm in the area to try out the other flavors. read more
The ambiance is quiet, never fully busy and relaxed. The customer service is great and comforting. The donuts however are not the pick of the litter and not of my choice. The raspberry was bland and double matcha was dry. I was fortunate enough to get the discount with the mix donuts but it was not something I was interested in at the end due to the lack of taste. The outside seating is cute and organized but not something I would try again. 6/10. read more

Okay, everyone I have been coming to old fairy.Donut for a couple years now. I believe i've updated my review before.I actually can't recall if I have. I will say that in my last several visits.When i'm in the area, the one thing I have noticed is consistency. This place is consistently on point with their new flavors.Quality of craftsmanship. And the clean and positive atmosphere. I have tried lots of different flavors.Some of my favorites are the peanut butter and pistachio cream. I get all sorts of flavors, though creme brulee, lemon poppy seed, strawberry cream puff, I recently tried the sesame and onion.... Are you getting my drift?There's a ton of flavors! Every time I have one, the dough is always light.The flavor meet your expectations and some of them are really quite good!!! Idream about them. I absolutely love that I get to try new and experimental flavors, especially because I am a huge fan of sweet and savory.So when I heard sesame seed onion, I was all over it. I really love the toasted crust.I do wish the cream filling was a little more sweet than savory. Can't wait to see what else you come up with old ferry.You are definitely worthy of a five star business.And I hope so many people come to taste the delicious treats you have. read more
Weekday noon, not busy at all. On the surface the donuts look pretty standard but each one was better than expected. Got 4 Cookies Cream - employee favorite Butter Pistachio - most popular Raspberry Boston Cream The butter pistachio was my favorite, light pistachio flavor with a cream inside. Raspberry was pretty standard but good dough. Boston cream was better chilled than room temp. Didn't get to try cookies and cream but the employee recommended a 5-10 second microwave to warm it up. Overall great donuts, recommended cook interior. read more
Old Town Ferry Donut is a must-try! My faves: Butter Pistachio 10/10--perfectly balanced, not too sweet. Hazelnut Choco 9/10--like a Ferrero Rocher in donut form. Crème Brûlée 8.5/10--love the crunchy sugar top and creamy filling. Choco Crunchy 8/10--classic cakey goodness. read more
This donut shop is located in the Source OC. It's a very cute shop and has lot of flavors to choose from. They're unique and ones you cannot find at a typical donut shop. The donuts are on the pricier side, I bought the pistachio one and it was about $5. It was good, but on the very heavy side, I could only take a few bite before stopping. I would like to come back and try other flavors. read more
SO GOODDD!! We got the pistachio butter and tiramisu donuts and they were soft, fluffy, and perfectly sweet. This is the only place can think of that does filled ring donuts and it convinces me that all ring donuts should be filled. 10/10 need to come back to try the crème brûlée. Been a couple of times and settled on which donuts we like the most. For a donut place the open time is late, though this could just be the Source itself since few places are even open early. One we like is the Plain Cream Cheese Donut. It doesn't have any sweet component, and has a good ratio of donut to cream. Overall a balanced donut. I also really like the Cookies and Cream Donut when I am craving something sweet. This one looks like a normal top/glazed but hides lots of cream inside. It's between Asian palette and American palette sweetnesses, and most of this comes from the cookies cream inside of the donut. View picture for cross section. Also tried the Boston Cream, Earl Grey, and Pistachio options and found those are sweeter and have more cream and less donut as compared to the plain cream Cheese donut. read more

Old Ferry Donut has a very cute interior and I liked the aesthetic of their merch and overall marketing. They have a good variety of donuts (most of which are filled) to choose from so there's gonna be something for everyone. We got 3 donuts, each of which were slightly different not just in flavor, but also the shape/structure. The main highlight was their butter pistachio donut! I love filled donuts and this was so memorable and perfect. Firstly, the shape is a classic ring donut, but it's actually filled which is uncommon to see for the shape. Between the softness of the dough and the tasty filling, this was easily one of the best donuts I've eaten. The match cream donut is their filled sugar donut-style. I thought the dough could have been softer, but the matcha-filling was very different and interesting. It's hard to describe, but it was bitter to the point of tasting almost citric. I didn't even really taste any matcha so that one was my least favorite. I also got a filled nutella-chocolate donut that was your standard filled donut shape. I enjoyed the nutella filling and overall it was good. But the dough wasn't as soft as the butter pistachio one. I would definitely come back and only focus on their filled "ring" donuts because it had the best texture out of all 3. read more

What donut place opens at 10:30a.m. on a Friday? I guess this one does. It's located in the first floor of The Source. Service was sufficient. I got the mango donut which was fluffy on the outside and creamy on the inside. The hazelnut chocolate donut was fine. I can't justify the cost of almost $5 a donut when it was just Ok. I'm not sure what the hype is. I am going to stick with Friendly donuts in Orange at a lower price. read more

So I had to come here twice to make sure I was correct about this review. The first time I got the pistachio butter doughnut. It was not good at all. The doughnut itself had no taste. Even the crumble on top taste like nothing. I really felt that this place is just an over priced donut shop. Wasn't worth the $5 I paid. I went a few days later but got the lemon poppy seed and the chocolate glazed. The lemon glaze on top was flavorless. It was weird it has a mid tangy taste but it was so mid it's like you can taste it and not taste it at the same time and I definitely didn't get lemon at all. The chocolate glaze was good. Average donut. The size of the donuts are great pretty big and fluffy. But the problem is the donuts have no taste and they use the glaze and topping on top to try to carry the actual donuts. If the topping sucks the whole donuts suck. You can definitely get a more flavorful donuts at a hole in the wall mom and pops. read more

I LOVE THEIR DONUTS! these are no ordinary donuts for sure. It's more like cake donuts and I love that! I got cookies and cream, crème brûlée, peanut butter and jelly and butter pistachio. all the flavors were pretty good but my top two would have to be the butter pistachio and the peanut butter and jelly. I'm not typically a pistachio person but this donut won me over! My number one is unexpectedly the PB&J! It was so delicious and I definitely need to go back for it. read more
One of my favorite donut spots! I tried the PB, PB&J, strawberry cream, and cookies & cream. Cookies & cream was definitely my favorite. The cream is super fresh and lightly sweetened, which I love. Everything tastes clean and made with care, without that overly sugary or artificial feel. This is easily my go-to donut place now. I also tried their mint white chocolate drink. It tasted more like a light mint-flavored milk than chocolate. The subtle flavor worked really well with the donuts and balanced out the sweetness perfectly! read more

Yes, yes, I did come here because of Vanilla Mace, and I'm glad I did! The service was quick and friendly and the ambiance is pretty chill. I ordered (ofc) the Butter Pistachio and omgggg it was so good!! The inside had a pistachio creme and it was so tasty and my favorite part of the donut! The topping was also so yummy. The overall taste is very light but it's something i enjoyed. We also ordered the Hazelnut Choco and it was good as well. It wasn't my favorite but my friend enjoyed it! To me, it tasted more chocolate-y than hazelnut-y. I hope to be back soon to try other donuts! read more
I love stopping by Old Ferry Donuts for a quick earl grey cake donut every time I'm at the Source. It's on the first floor and almost always has a decent selection of donuts to choose from. The inside is super cute and I feel like the menu has good variety every time I go. I have to admit, I really only like cake donuts, so I always stick with the earl Grey donut and peel away half the frosting, but even then, it's a great indulgent treat for me. I've tried a couple of the other flavors such as the peanut butter and pistachio, but I'm content to return for the earl Grey cake donut. read more
Had to come try this place after seeing them on insta! There are a couple of old ferry donuts out there, but went to the one at the source. It was kinda hard to find but it's on the first floor if that makes it any easier! Got the butter pistachio and crème brulee donut. I was so tempted to get the chocolate milk cause the packaging was so cute! The pistachio donut was actually really good! Most definitely lives up to the hype. Creamy, pistachio goodness! The crème brûlée was pretty good too. Not too sweet which in Asian culture means perfect! Each donut was about $4 but they are thick and decadent. I really want to try the tiramisu and PB & J so I'll be back for more. read more
The family as a whole haven't been down in Buena Park in years. We headed down to Southern LA for a Korean BBQ for lunch so we decided to find other places to visit along with grabbing something sweet. One of those places was a Korean Mall which happened to have an Old Ferry Donut shop there. The family and I are always up for a good donut. We dejected four different donuts: White Chocolate Sesame, Lemon Poppy, PBJ and Butter Pistachio donuts. All of the donuts were good, larger than a standard sized donut, generous toppings on each donut, moist and the flavors of the donut were prominent as the name described. The donuts are priced reasonably for the type of donut, size and uniqueness you are buying. If we are in the neighborhood again, we will stop by and try some of the other flavors. If you wanted to try a more upscale donut versus traditional donuts, definitely drop in and purchase several different flavors to share with your friends. We cut ours in quarters for the family to try. read more
