Love the old saloon, first time back in a year or two and was not disappointed. Took my father visiting for his 60th bday for food and drinks. Burgers were great (1/2lb patties loaded with bacon) and probably the best wings I've had in Montana yet. Personally a big fan of onion rings and theirs were just what I needed. The live music on the stage was an awesome setting. Highly recommend it to anyone whether in the area or for a night out. read more

The bar is VERY cool, but the food is not.! We went in with about 18 people at the end of the night so i can understand some issues, & for the most part it was edible, but one guy who got the steak, woke up sweating, & hurling.. basically bed ridden for the next day or so. Maybe I just have had bad luck, but both times I have tried to have dinner at this place, they were CLOSED for dinner. The most recent time, I had made reservations for a special occasion (they even had my cell number). the reservation was made two days prior to the event. They said they were sorry but they were now CLOSED for dinner on one of the nights I had reservations. WHY DIDN'T' THEY CALL ME!!! My husband and I planned a trip to Yellowstone months ago and of course were curious to know what food establishments we should stop at on our trip. When we got to the northern part of the park, we decided to go to Emigrant, Montana to the Old Saloon restaurant, that is 117 years old. It was so cute and authentically crafted to give you an all out old west experience. We were halfway expecting the food to be okay and for this joint to be more touristy, but were very surprised when our plates hit the table. The ribeye steak was delicious, seasoned perfectly. The chicken fried steak was "Grandma worthy" and they even had sweet tea for us Georgia Southerners!! The service was incredible and the prices were fantastic. We had a great time, took lots of pictures and were very pleased with our overall experience. We loved the historical value to the restaurant and left with full tummies. Our family ate for less than $80. We had leftover boxes when we left. You have got to check this place out and know that you're going to get your money's worth and be super satisfied with anything on the menu. We will recommend this on our travel notes to friends and family coming out this way. read more

We visited during our trip to Yellowstone and this was by far our favorite restaurant. We weren't looking for a super fancy place, nor were we wanting a standard burger, which most Montana places seem to specialize in. This place was perfect. The staff was friendly and attentive, food came out quickly and it was delicious! The side salad with homemade huckleberry vinaigrette was superb and the Mac and cheese was very tasty! We also order the wings and chicken sliders were surprisingly perfect as well! Simple food, but elevated just enough to make it remarkable. Again, prices were perfect considering the area! We didn't get to see any live music, but the stage set up seems like it would be a good time! read more

This place was absolutely amazing. Excellent food and awesome staff and owner. We was leaving Yellowstone and stopped because prices in Gardner was too high. I love the old feel to the place and it had a lot of history dating back to the early 1900's. Then a couple weeks later we ran in to a guy in Bozeman that knew the owner. Great experience. Good place for such a small town. Breakfast is good. Dinner is good. Not a lot of variety on their dinner menu. I prefer to eat at River's Edge Bar & Grill, but they don't do dinner entrees like they used to any more. Mostly just burgers and sandwiches. So when I get tired of those I go to the Old Saloon. Atmosphere in the restaurant is good. When you have to dine in the bar, though, it feels a little cliquey...but that's to be expected in a small town bar I suppose. read more

First time in Montana, was leaving Yellowstone & stopped here and had a great experience. Next day we stopped back there for breakfast, unbelievable. The locals and the staff were so nice & knowledgeable about the area. Breakfast was excellent. As a biscuits & gravy snob, they gave me something that was so distinct and flavorful that I think I might be addicted. All said and done I took the advice from the locals to not spend my whole day trying to see Old Faithful & instead ran the Beartooth Hwy. Pictures and words cannot begin to explain the beautiful experience. When I return to Montana, Old Saloon will be the first stop on my list!! Ciao read more

Well, how can I best sum this place up? My friends and I went in for the hair of the dog at 12pm and wound up leaving at 10pm. The bartender Casey and medicine man "Crow" were totally awesome! My friends and I had the best freaking time at this place and with no doubt will live as night of infamy. Off the chain is an understatement. read more
