School is now in session. Old School Pizzeria doesn't just get passing marks, it makes the honor roll. The Gio salad was a B-, but it was for the wife anyways. The pizza was tardy but they brought a hall pass in the form of free bread knots which were delicious. The Apricot was my favorite, the mix of goat cheese and apricot jam was superb. The Apricot is definitely the student body president of the menu, a leader yet sweet and approachable. The "Vegas Meets Italy" is like the school jock, popular and great at what it does but just a little too much ricotta to make everyone happy. Absolutely excited to see a local pizzeria. (Local to Mountain's Edge that is). Walked in and was immediately greeted (sort of) and let them know I was in for a pickup order. When I say "sort of", I mean that the person behind the counter acknowledged me visually, and then when I walked over and said I was there for pickup, was immediately asked "did you get a text that it was ready?". Well, no, I was technically 6 minutes earlier than the quoted time on my online carry out order, so I didn't feel being early was going to be met with a bit of resistance. However, someone spoke from the kitchen, that it wasn't in the oven yet and was going to be about 20 more minutes. Which, to be fair, I really didn't mind as I just got there, even though the online system quoted me 45mins which I felt was a little long, but gave it the benefit of the doubt. I waited patiently. Got my pizzas. Was offered parm, peppers, ranch - which I gladly accepted and went about my way. The pizzas, good. Not terrible. Not outstanding. However, much better than their chain competitors which are across the street and in the same parking lot at the furthest end. I'm a reasonable guy and you get extra bonus points from me when you stake claim on real estate that is surrounded by chain pizza places that are known for their turnkey, speedy, and somewhat consistent result. The pizzas themselves were good, however I do side with other reviews here in that the crust was a bit darker that reasonable. Burnt cheese on pizza = acceptable. Burnt dough crust = displeasing. It just adds an undesirable flavor to it. Outside of the overwhelmed staff, and the fairly overcooked crust, overall a good first experience. Oh and the sauce is legit. I'll level with you. I'm a former pizza guy in this town. Ran multiple chain and one independent pizza restaurant and I was very good at what I did. I know pizza. I've had it from Italy, to NYC, to Chicago, to the west coast and back. I've even had it in China! Here's my synopsis. This is a new restaurant. Two things are working against this location; 1. You are going to get every hungry person in this area swarming to your location. We are dying for something amazing and different than the savage chain restaurants that got here first. (it's just what they do) So the success is there for the taking but you gotta be spot on from the jump. Or there's going to be only that one shot. 2. New restaurant means new equipment and processes that need some time to mature. My understanding is that it's been 2 months since the grand opening, so I would hope that the oven temp is calibrated and the process will improve relatively quickly. I only heard good things about this place which is why my family and I wanted to try their pizza. We were excited to see what the hype was about but... LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE! If you order for take out OPEN THE BOX BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE RESTAURANT LIKE OTHER PIZZA PLACES!! We opened the box at home and we were very disappointed to see that the pie was BURNT. Since this is our first time trying their food we gave it a chance and ate some slices because maybe a dark crust is what they normally serve. I've read that other people received a cold pizza and the toppings compensated, but for us it didn't. The toppings were as burnt as the crust reflected, resulting in a bitter pie. I called the restaurant just to let them know directly to be more mindful of their food so this doesn't happen to other customers but I was sent to their voicemail. Ordered two XXL pizzas earlier today for dinner. Staff was prompt and very friendly. I asked for my pizza a little extra crispy and the chef came out with the pizza and ensured it was to my liking. One caramelized onion with meatballs and the other was an original pepperoni. Both were very good. The dough has a unique freshness too it. You can tell it's different than the run of the mill dough and that's what attracted me to this spot. Finally tried this place out. Old School Pizzeria is family owned. They have three locations in Las Vegas. They offer take out, delivery, or dine in. It's an open kitchen concept, where you can watch them make all the pizzas. They have booth style seating and bar seating counter in front of the kitchen. This pizzeria offers more than just pizza from starters, salads and specialty dishes. They also offer solo meals which is a monster slice (a slice from 24") you can add any toppings you want or have one of these chefs creations: Calabrese, Carnivore, Classic Combo, Pork Reigns, Regina Margarita, vegetarian. We ordered a 14' half Apricot half carnivore. The Apricot made with apricot jam, apple smoked bacon, goat cheese, pine nuts and arugula. Enjoyed the flavors and texture that the pine nuts and goat cheese added but I feel it needs some heat/spice to it. It was good for one slice because it's too sweet for my liking. We also ordered the Pork Reigns; made with braised pork, house made sausage, applewood bacon, cotto ham, salame calabrese, guanciale, crushed tomatoes, basil and mozzarella. The cannoli is one of the best that I've had, the shell was airy and had a nice crunch to it; the filling was not overly sweet or thick. Their pizza is cooked low and slow. What a find! This place is easy to miss, as it is a bit hidden from plain sight on Blue Diamond Rd- but totally worth the trip! Our pizza was HUGE- which was absolutely perfect after our nearby hike (salad, who?!).. It did take a while for the pizza to be ready, which is completely understandable- it is after all, FRESH and AUTHENTIC. Totally worth the wait. I am so glad I found the Old School Pizzeria. Grand Opening today! All hands on deck, service was great. Giovanni Mauro, the owner and executive chef, was there serving up the pizzas to customers. I wanted to try the Apricot pizza so he whipped me up a slice and it was worth it! The combo is perfect and paired with Gio's salad it was a full meal. We also got free garlic knots as a promo for Pi Day which were tasty with ranch dipping sauce. Our main pizza was the Classic Combo, in XXL size. There were two of us and we intentionally got it this big so we could take some home. Crispy crust, fresh toppings and gooey cheese, it hit the spot. I got onto this place door-dashing part time. I received quite a few orders so I thought it was good. Its average at best. Not gross but not great. The 2star review and why I don't recommend is the quality and price. Flimsy dough, an uncooked look, prego-like sauce, all for $30?! Added extra cheese as a topping and no ham on the carnivore pizza. This should have been $15 at the most. The toppings were fine except it seems like they put raw bacon across my pizza and baked it, gross. Papa murphys and Lil Cesars have more respect for pizza than this. If you 're going to pay this much it should be quality. Naked city is walking distance from here or if you're by Southpoint try Windy- city-beefs-and-pizza. Both options are superior in quality without the wallet sting. read more

Seriously the best sourdough crust and New York style pizza in vegas. Old school definitely lives up to the name. The pizza crust/dough is tasty, soft but the right amount of crunchy. The dough is made from the mother yeast so you know it's got flavor. The sauce is wonderfully seasoned. You can tell they use quality ingredients. It's my favorite pizza in town. They even have this garlic mascarpone style ranch that you could dip the pizza in. That's house made and it's absolutely delicious. I've had both the house made iced tea and the rosemary lemonade. I can't choose which one I like the best because they're both so so good. You even get a mason jar. If you bring back the mason jar they give you a discounted refill. The customer service is excellent. The manager was friendly when explaining the menu and ensured that we had everything we needed for our To-go order. He made recommendations. I'm still working through some trust issues after living a lifetime in Seattle. There are some fantastic pizza spots there. There's also a lot of garbage pizza. For every incredible spot there are dozens of strip-mall pizza shops selling #TrashPizza. To be fair, I'm fighting a similar issue with seafood here but I didn't really try a lot there. I just had my spots I'd been eating with since I was too young to even remember doing it and I just kept going back. When I saw Old School opening up at a strip-mall within two miles of my house, I just instinctively dismissed it. It may be the closest pizza to my home but I developed #PizzaHutBlindness years ago and my mind just refuses to clock the existence of low-grade chain-pizza unless it's forced to acknowledge it, so maybe there's a Domino's closer but I won't know unless I'm specifically compelled to go there to pick up a pizza for someone else that I will not be eating personally. We had dinner plans for a weekend evening that were disrupted and we ended up just needing to grab a pizza for a quick dinner. We were too exhausted to drive to one of our trusted and verified local spots so we took a chance based on a good Yelp rating and we were very pleasantly surprised. For me, it's all about the crust. The toppings are important but the crust is key. If it's chewy and crispy, I'm generally going to like it. If it makes that crackling sound when you bite into it, it's going to land on my favorites list unless the topping are somehow just awful. This checked all the boxes and I LOVE the pepper mix. You will also lose me if your service is bad and you screw up my order. We currently suspect one of our other top 5 spots of purposefully messing up a take-out order because I didn't add a tip when I paid over the phone. I actually worked for tips when I was going to college and will tip for service but I refuse to tip for just sliding a to-go order across a counter for me. Add some value and I'll tip on the spot but I didn't carry thousands of lbs of luggage up and down stairs in my 20's, often receiving far less than 15% for my efforts to tip someone who is merely taking my money and handing me a bag or a box. If this offends your sensibilities then I'm going to assume that you really never "worked" for tips. That other spot probably has lost our business now that we have found Old School and it's a good 10 miles closer. We loved it so much, we came back for more two days later just to make sure it wasn't a fluke and added a calzone to the order. Still fantastic! This is now our go-to when we just need quick pizza at home or are going out with friends who live close by but I would put it up against all our local favorites. read more

This place has some of the best pizza in town. They make HUGE pies and use dough mother from ages ago that is good for gluten intolerance! They always throw extra ranch in with the to go orders. And they lemonades and Arnold palmers are incredible. Suuuuper sweet but we take them home in the mason jars and dilute them and enjoy them over a few days. For a while we were returning the jars to get half off more orders of them! But now we just keep the jars and go back every now and then. I haven't been able to eat bread for a while and I miss being able to stop here for a pie! Hopefully we will be able to return again soon! read more

We recently tried Old School Pizzeria this past week and a half & since we have ordered twice. The sourdough crust is amazing! I added a picture with a regular large dinner plate for reference next to the xxl custom pizza. We love adding sausage and mushrooms to our pizza. We recently tried the bacon & it was good, but it does make the pizza a bit greasier so I think we will try a different topping instead next time. We live within a 6 min drive of this location so we will definitely be adding this to one out of go to dinner spots.
