I live nearby this place and have been a fairly longtime customer. So when my friends and I wanted a place to grab a bite to eat as a group, I recommended we try this place out. The food was fairly good, nothing too amazing but definitely pretty solid for Westchester pizza. The service was also pretty good as the waitress was friendly and the food didn't take too long to get out. However, the reason for the low review is that they were extremely rude about us splitting the bill. The very first thing we were asked when we arrived was if we wanted to split the bill. We said yes and then enjoyed our meal. When the time came to pay, we all got up to pay and split the bill so that each entree was one bill, which is a very simple and common way of splitting the bill. Yet we were scolded by several people in the restaurant there. This is in spite of being asked earlier. It was unnecessarily rude for a very simple and common request that we were clearly told is ok there. Would not recommend for a group. read more

Ordered for take out the first time tonight. I'm house sitting in the area and decided to try it out, despite so many bad reviews. I have to say, I should have listened to the reviews. I ordered a cold antipasto, the specialty clam pizza with no bacon and baked manicotti. All were pretty averagely priced for Westchester. Let's start with the cold antipasto. I never got it, it was a chef's salad. I do have to say the greens looked fresh in this salad but it wasn't what I ordered. Remember the clam pizza with no bacon? Well it came with bacon. Two strikes. The woman on the phone even repeated my order back to me so I'm confused as to where the miscommunication would be? Ate it anyway, was fairly tasty but I'm not a huge fan of the taste of salt (hence no bacon) so I'm not very happy. The baked manicotti was quite literally plain ricotta cheese wrapped in a pasta topped with what tasted like grocery store brand shredded mozzarella and a watery out-of-the-can tasting marinara sauce. The one really good thing I can say about Old Stone Trattoria is that the garlicky bread that came with the pasta was very soft and tasty. Overall very unhappy with my experience and I highly doubt I will be ordering from here ever again. read more

I hope my friends and my father don't read this. Both groups have raved raved raved about Old Stone. I'm afraid since living in NYC for the past two years I might have become jaded in my food tastes. But I found Old Stone to be good, just not superb. I loved the atmosphere inside the restaurant. Somewhere between a beautiful home style Italian restaurant and a pizzeria. Such a nice Italian restaurant for the every man has not really been part of Chappaqua before, and so I am happy for that. The service was also very good. Now onto the food. We ordered the fried calamari, my fiancee got penne alla vodka, and the table split a pie of garlic pizza and a pie of sausage pizza. The calamari was a little underdone. The calamari loops were very large and buttery. Though the squid-y leg parts were much better cooked. My fiancee thought the penne alla vodka was decent. The pizza was pretty good. I liked how the sausage were in long pieces. It was slightly greasy. The thin crust was probably my favorite part, as it was wood-fired to perfection. The garlic pizza was okay. The crust wasn't as crunchy and it was also slightly greasy. In the end, I think my view was tainted because of my friends and my father's over-hyping. They tried to prove to me that this restaurant is way way way way better than anything Chappaqua or possibly Westchester has ever seen. But in the end for me, the decor was top notch, but the food was equal if not only slightly better than other pizzerias and average Italian restaurants in bordering towns. read more

The food and service are great l, the owner is the major setback here. So cheap! Charges a fee to pay by card (4%) which is higher than the fee the restaurant even pays to collect a credit card. Of course it's after you've eaten. The message comes in the bill holder in the form of a sticker when they present the bill. When we sat down we asked for 2 glasses of water....the waitress said oh our other customers said it tastes funny and brought us 2 bottled water...big surprise those are on the bill at $2 a piece. He also keeps a portion of the servers tip as well. It's a shame the owner is more interested in nickel and dime the customers. Oh well, I guess our table of 2 which had 1 appetizer and salad 2 entrees 1 bottle of wine and 2 tartufo which had a bill of over $120 is all this owner needs in his hit and run business model......hey there greedy pig owner....let's see how the world of public opinion on the internet feels about this. Between my family and I we have had majority of the items on the menu. It's always well made and flavorful, with quality ingredients. I have been a customer of Old Stone Trattoria for five year and have had no issues until the past three months. 1) I ordered their fish and had server food poisoning and had to go to the Westchester hospital. I spoke to one of the employees who delivers and was told none of the fish is fresh and that it is cooked even if it is a couple days old. 2) I placed an order for delivery and they were 45 minutes late. When I called the owner hung up on me and told me I should pick up instead. The owner then cursed me out telling me to go somewhere else. 3) The meet and fish are cooked on same surfaces and not properly prepared. The food here is fine. Not exceptionally delicious or poor. The price is comparable for other similar places in the area. That said, the reason for the low rating is for the service. Our waitress was fine, but there was a man who's position wasn't clear (maybe a floor manager?) and he was intrusive and off putting. He had a comment for everything ("I bet you like to have a lot of fun on the weekends!" "Can you believe your friend is taking a phone call during dinner?!" etc.) About a year and a half ago I went here with a friend of mine and the same man said it was "nice to see a mother and daughter having dinner", meanwhile my friend is 3 years my junior. Last night, Old Stone Trattoria here in Chappaqua, NY lost a consistent and loyal customer tonight. I ordered a Sicilian pie as part of a late night dinner. It was well after the dinner rush because my husband was picking it up after a late night at his office. When my husband brought it home and we opened up the box, we found that it was completely burnt! Now, it was quite frustrating because we were all rather hungry. While we have had overdone pizzas from there before, this was the worst, and I had never called them to complain about it previously. There have been numerous other mess-ups over the past year - in fact one time recently, I placed an order and specifically asked them to ensure a previous mess-up was not repeated, and guess what? It WAS repeated and had to be made anew (and picked up again), thereby keeping one of us from eating dinner with the rest of the family. Despite discouragement from other family members, I continued to go there because I liked frequenting a local business and I genuinely like the staff there. But last night, I called the restaurant and told them about the very burnt pizza, and they then questioned my veracity and told me to send them photos of it! How offensive! What horrible customer service! As the owner told me, "If you had bought a shirt and discovered a tear in it when you got it home, you would have to bring it back to the store to show them, wouldn't you?" (Did I mention horrible customer service?!) While you may get a decent meal by dining in, please know that placing a take-out order here is a crap shoot. Just moved to town and this place is a few blocks away. I have eaten my share of pizza and I can tell you the pizza here is excellent. Crisp crust and it's done right. I go here a couple times a week usually to grab slices at lunch. Went here for a sit down meal with the family a few weeks back and ordered chicken parm dinner, was amazing. My kids are picky eaters and they loved the place. They asked us if we would move tables after we sat down to acxomodate a larger group which we were happy to do because we wanted to be outside anyway. But ordering takeout or delivery is always a nightmare. 9 out of 10 times the phone staff gets the order wrong and they never apologize or try to make it up it any way. Pizza is good, garlic knots are really good, some of the main dishes are good but the majority of the dishes are average. Price is a little more expensive compared to other pizza places in the area especially with the average quality of food. The service is slow especially for deliveries.
