This was my first time here and I only have good things to say about it. I experienced really quick and attentive service. The cafe itself has 8-9 tables inside and a handful outside. My friend and I went on a Saturday morning thinking we'd have to wait a while, but we only waited about 5 minutes for a table. The food was good, but the star of the show for me was the horchata latte. I get nervous ordering lattes from sit down places like this because they tend to be too milk-forward, but this was coffee first while also being perfectly sweetened. This is a hidden gem upstairs in an unassuming plaza. They have blessed the community with their good food and charm. There is a small but mighty team that works here. :) There is some street parking and parking behind the building. The breakfast burrito stole my heart. It comes with a dipping sauce that is also fire. They have a pretty good variety of specialty coffee and teas. We were looking for a new breakfast spot and Old Town Caffe kept coming up on Yelp with great reviews. We were skeptical because of the upstairs location in an unassuming building. Always trust Yelp! This place is a gem. We've been here twice in two weeks. I had avocado toast last week and oatmeal today. Hubby had french toast last week and a breakfast burrito today. Everything has been delicious and so fresh, plus presented beautifully. The service is over the top and the pricing is affordable, especially considering how large the portions are. First off, they are a family-owned, Latino business and it definitely had the vibe of a place where locals would consistently come back. Plenty of parking in the back of this plaza. Upon arriving, menus were provided and we were told to sit wherever we'd like and to come back to the counter to order. After ordering, the food came out super quickly, and smelled delicious. Our group got lucky and was seated within 10 mins on a Sunday morning, a bunch of people arrived after us and were waitlisted. We were seated outside in the shade so it wasn't too hot. All the portions were big and the price was fair. I really enjoyed my chilaquiles. They weren't drenched in salsa so they retained a nice crunch and the flavor was great, especially with the chorizo. It was a big enough portion for 2 people. All the staff were very friendly and attentive as well. I can see why this place is constantly busy! This place is legit. Latte was one of the best. You know how some places you'll order something "with strawberries and bananas" and it comes out with like 2 1/2 strawberries and a quarter banana? I swear they artfully squeezed two whole bananas and a cup of strawberries on this perfectly cooked waffle. It made me feel like a waffle drizzled with sweetened condensed milk (the lechera waffle) was a healthy breakfast choice ; ). I was surprised how quickly the food came out, considering how packed the place was, even at 8:30 am. As other reviewers have said, it was pretty loud, but what brunch place isn't? The restaurant was extremely accommodating of our group of 10 people and gave an honest ETA on when they could seat us. Our group ordered cortado, coffee, and lattes. Considering the small size of the cafe, the drinks were all delicious. The cortado was rich and chocolatey. They were kind enough to give us another one on the house that they used to practice latte art. Our group also ordered waffle combo, french toast combo, a burrito, egg avocado toast, and other items. Old Town Caffe is such a hidden gem, serving delicious cafe options. We came for brunch and really enjoyed our meal. You order at the register and the food is delivered very quickly to your table. The Deluxe Waffle was topped with a combination of icecream, acai, fruits, whipped cream and chocolate. The Chicken quesadilla had a lovely filling of hearty grilled chicken, mushrooms, and onions with generous sides of black beans, guacamole, and pico de gallo. The breakfast sandwich was also very well made, with well-defined layers. The only dish we might not order again was the salmon avocado toast because the multigrain sliced bread used as a base was too thin and not hearty enough. Overall pretty good but today went in and ordered the French toast combo but on then menu price was $14 ish but the man said it was $19 ish..I asked why and he said the prices changed but menu hasn't been updated. I thought it was odd because other restaurants use tape to revise prices or post a sign. Either way the French toast was ok and bacon was really crispy/burnt. A quick look at what was around, this place caught my eye and as a regular enjoyer of small cafes and cozy vibes, I decided to check it out and was happy to find that i made a good decision! I was looking for a nice brunch spot and a friend recommended me this place. There's a back parking lot which can be hard to find with minimal parking spots. This plaza is shared with a couple of other businesses. I was shocked to find a brunch spot here as it's quite tiny. Thankfully we got seated right away. You order at the kiosk in front of the cashier and pay before you get seated. I ordered the matcha latte and French toast combo. The matcha latte was SO delicious- the latte art was also super cute. The French toast combo on the other hand was a bit of a let down. The bacon and eggs were your typical and tasted normal, same with the French toast. I wish the eggs were a bit tastier or seasoned- and felt that it wasn't worth the price I had paid. Regardless this was a super lowkey restaurant to chat and hang with friends! My family and tried this brunch establishment after Easter Sunday. And boy were we glad. While this is not a fancy establishment the food was delicious. What I feel we were most impressed with were that they made much of the side condiments in-house. For example, spicy mayo, pico de gallo, homemade guacamole and tomatillo sauce. The combination of these homemade sauces to complement their very tasty breakfast burritos were on point. Additionally, the waffles we tried had great texture and freshly cut fruit in season. The strawberries, bananas, blueberries, mangoes and kiwi were so fresh and satisfying that we did not even need to use syrup. A family owned vibe with high quality food. Best thing about this place is the wonderful owners & their customer service and staff. Welcoming & super friendly. Order at the counter and your food is brought to your table. The several times we've been here for lunch its been really crowded, probably because the food is excellent. I had the opportunity to explore Pasadena as my boyfriend and I were planning to spend the day at Huntington Library. There are many cafes with great reviews in Pasadena so it was a bit tough to choose. We don't regret choosing Old Town Caffe at all. Note - this cafe is upstairs in a small shopping mall. When you walk up the stairs, you cannot miss it. Parking - it's typical downtown parking - there's street parking and paid garage parking - and it can be a challenge, especially during prime time hours. We parked at the hotel parking which we loved because we got to walk through the beautiful lobby and have a photo session! Restroom - it's available but you need to be escorted as you need to leave the cafe to walk around to it. Coffee - my boyfriend loved his cafe mocha and I absolutely LOVEEEEE my Cafe de Olla. I love it so much I know I'll crave it. Breakfast burrito - boyfriend loved this as well, he said it's one of the best he's ever had Bagel sandwich - good, loved my salad!!!! Aesthetics - cute with the hanging plants and dark bench and tables Indoor cafe - it's not overwhelming big. It's enough for couples and a small family to eat but I would not recommend it for large parties. Customer service - there was one cashier and one barista. With that said, you might need some patience. It took a while to get our food but even longer to get our coffees. It's not a deal breaker because we genuinely enjoyed our food and coffees.
