Wife and I stopped in Saturday afternoon to check our food as we were thinking about booking a small private party here. Staff were very pleasant and attentive however the food was mediocre at best. I ordered a side salad which was supposed to come before our burgers. It came with our burgers. wow more cheese on my salad Than my burger and my "honey mustard" dressing tasted like our mayonnaise. I ordered the house burger medium. My wife ordered the pub burger medium. Both burgers came out extremely well done. Top of my bun was charred black! Both our burgers were the driest, most tasteless hunk of meatloaf we have ever had. Soooo glad we tried the food before booking here. Very disappointing. The worst pub food we've ever had. Everyone, My own imposed rules for any review: 1. Must visit at least three times. Two of which must be distinctly different formats; i.e. one weekday night and one weekend night. 2. Must order something unique each visit. 3. If they have any "signature" items on the menu, you must order a "signature" item at least once. 4. Old Towne Pub - Wasco Location/Layout - 5/10: Old Towne Pub is located in a shopping center just north of route 64 in Wasco. The bar itself is tucked back a bit in a very oddly designed shopping complex but there is ample parking behind the bar, and there is a rear entrance to accommodate the rear parking lot, along with limited parking that is shared with other locations in front of the establishment. The interior is nicely laid out with several TVs, a centralized bar and three distinct eating areas two of which are away from the main dining/bar area, which also serves private parties. There is also a game room with a pool table and a couple of coin op games. Unfortunately, there is only a very small waiting area and the lone two benches are kept in the pass through, which can be inconvenient depending on season. Menu - 6.5/10: The menu is nicely laid out and pretty expansive for a pub with a heavy emphasis on sandwiches. Additionally, there is a Whiteford's BBQ menu which showcases several of their award winning meats. The BBQ includes standard BBQ fair along with unique offerings such as nachos and burritos incorporating the chicken, beef and pork. Service - 5/10: The service is usually friendly and accommodating. There have been occasions where the hostess station was in disarray when they are busy creating situations when waiting that patrons entering from the rear entrance get their names placed well a head of those already in line. Additionally, refills can be hard to come by when they are packed. Moreover, Old Towne frequently has one of my biggest pet peeves in the restaurant industry which is charging for every side item, even if it should be a standard for that particular dish. Sometimes they are listed on the menu, such as $x.xx for ranch, etc, but other times they are not. Making this issue worse is that you are never told when you request an item by your sever and only find out when you receive your bill. I feel that if there is an up charge you should be made aware of the cost prior to bringing the item. Food - 7/10: All the food options are very delicious and most are freshly prepared. We have enjoyed all the BBQ options and are fans of the sandwiches that we have sampled. Sizes are appropriate and are not overwhelming. The standouts for us are the pulled pork nachos and the Italian Grinder, which is nicely packed with cold cuts, veggies, and hot peppers. You are offered options as your sandwich side, including sweet potato tots, which I have not been able to try due to them being out of stock every time I have ordered a sandwich. This has not been an issue for me because the fries are very good and the house made tortilla chips are phenomenal. Menu pricing in general is very reasonable and they offer nightly specials but every time we have ordered them the discount was incorrect and we were told the website has not been updated to show the correct pricing. Drinks - 5/10: The bar area offers mixers and beers which several are available on tap, wine and soft drinks. Prices can be reasonable, especially if you choose one of the daily or monthly specials. Overall Experience - 6.5/10: Old Towne Pub is a solid option for pub grub or catching up with friends. The noise levels in general are at a sociable level allowing for a nice conversational dining/drinking experience. Keep in mind they do get slammed on the weekends and they are a family friendly atmosphere, which means that the game room, juke box, and most of the dining areas are dominated by kids of varying ages. read more

I had an extremely negative customer experience at Old Towne this past Friday. Waitress charged us $5 extra to substitute a side of fries for Mac and cheese. Fries are listed as $4 on the menu and Mac and cheese as $5. Expected a $1 up charge. Waitress explained that we were being charged $5 because that was the cost of the Mac and cheese. With that logic, we still should have received the original side of fries that was included in the price of the meal. Asked to speak to manager. Would have been forgiving, but the manager was extremely rude, interrupted me when I was speaking and completely ignored the details of my complaint. Also had to wait almost an hour for our food, which was mediocre at best-- fried chicken over cooked and batter outside rock-hard. Will absolutely not be returning. read more

Went there recently for dinner on a Thursday night. Place was packed. Waiter was almost hyperventilating when he came to table. Took our drink orders and dinner orders. Just after a food arrived we suddenly found ourselves surrounded by 50+ strangers crowding closely around our table to watch a slideshow that had been put on a tv just above us. Went there on $.60 wing night (Wednesday) to have some wings, beers and watch the Blackhawks game. Place was packed but since there were (5) TV's with the Bulls game on (They were getting destroyed), I asked if they can put (1) of the TV's in the corner to the Hawks game. The manager refused saying they changed the tv's enough. OK, whatever. Ordered the $.60 wings, beers and other appetizers and everything was good. Get the bill and noticed they charged $.75 per wing plus a charge for ranch and celery. That should be standard unless you order extra. I feel that they should let you know that when you are ordering the daily special, that the price is higher. I called them out on it and the "Manager" said they changed it the same day. Bait and switch to me. I even brought up their menu on my phone and it showed the lower price but she did not care and barley let me speak. Then I noticed on the bottom of the bill that they charge you 3% CC fee. Sorry, but that should be in the cost of doing business. Just seemed that they nickel and dime you. If I could give zero stars, I would... I've been to this restaurant on multiple occasions. Most of the time the food has arrived to the table cold. The food is tasteless. I've also witnessed the waitresses picking food (such as French fries) off the plates before bringing them out of the kitchen and they would rather use their time there as a social hour with each other rather than doing their job. Most of the waitresses are rude and would often make us feel rushed. The owner sits at the bar and drinks while the other bar tenders are running around like crazy trying to keep up. I went here on Saturday and I don't ever plan on going back. I asked to sit by the stage , one table was open but the girls at the front said it was reserved but I could sit in the other room and when a spot by the stage opened , they would move me. The waitress took our drink order and brought them to the table and didn't see her again. A table opened up so we moved our stuff over to the new table. The busboy let us know that when the band starts they move all the tables from the front...soooooo we took a table on the side. The "reserved" table was removed also HA! The manager came and asked if our waitress came over and I told her no , which she wasn't thrilled about! A new waitress came over and took our order . The food was pretty good. The service was horrible . The check came and I gave her a gift certificate and cash to cover the rest. I was suppose to get back $25.95 , she gave me $24.00 back. Pretty funny that she took it upon herself to take money from me, SOOOO I left her a $4.00 tip. She came back to our table, grabbed the check with a giggle and walked away. THAT reassured me that I left the perfect tip for her. Two of my friends use to be waitresses and they both said rule 1 is you NEVER take the check and tip till the customers have left . I'm a huge fan of this place. Atmosphere is what you'd expect, it's a pub. It's got a big bar and then table seating. But the food, OH LORDY THE FOOD. Everything I have gotten here has been not just good, but excellent. They truly are a diamond in the rough. In a place where we as Chicagolanders are pummeled by sports bars/pub/brewery food culture, this place has surprised me with their food on every level. They truly are a cut above the rest. The poutine, for starters, is UH-MAYZING. Seriously I don't know if I've ever eaten anything so rich and salty and amazing in my life. The fries are to die for, and cooked crispy before being "poutined" is just perfect. The goat cheese flat bread, oh my goodness. I could just about pass out from happiness when I eat it. Buffalo blue cheese salad? EXCELLENT. Seriously I have yet to have anything bad, or even mediocre here. They are 1000% worth your visit. I had a reuben with fries. The fry grease was dirty as the fries were dark and limp. Then the ketchup was spoiled. Every part of the reuben had been cooked on the dirty grill resulting in dark brown kraut, solidified fake swiss, and greasy rubbery, poor quality meat. I came to this location because of the groupon I had. I've have been to the Geneva location a few times so I figured why not. The food was ok, beer selection wasn't the best but the service was pretty bad. Unless you are local good luck getting service at the bar. I got the fully loaded potato soup and it was good as well. The cup was pretty big and had a good amount of bacon and cheese in it. I got the Ruben sandwich and it was delicious. Love this place in Wasco- the bartenders are great, service is sometimes a struggle, other times is good (hence 4 instead of 5 stars). Been here for numerous birthday parties and the drinks were all made well. Food is also really good. It's a bar menu with a couple of interesting items. I ordered the Italian beef quesadilla and fries. It was bland and the fries could have been warmer. Our server seemed preoccupied to the point of aloofness. It may have been an off night. The reviews for this place are pretty hit and miss. I have been to the one in Geneva, but just at the bar with appetizers, and it was pretty good with better service. I may try it again but there are a lot of restaurants. I've taken a real liking to this place. There wasn't any one thing I could put my finger on after my first visit, but I wanted to boost my rating after dining here 3 times now. We really like the quasi-outdoor seating area. This is just a preferred way of dining for me. We also expanded on their menu and have found other great choices. They serve really good, quality sandwiches here. I drink beer..and for one reason or another I get the Rolling Rock in a can when I visit. It's the only place I'll get a canned beer and for one reason or another, it's a perk for me. We've also let our son play games in the game room and he likes to get free popcorn from the popcorn machine near the front. Another nice Groupon find. I wish this place was closer to us. Nice big space, good atmosphere, free popcorn not much more you could ask for. They have a large menu with some BBQ stuff done by a award winning BBQer. Even though its a bar its family friendly. I had the Pork 'n' Burger a pretty good burger with topped with some pulled pork, mighty tasty, they have some excellent coleslaw also. We always have a good time when we go here. Cheap drinks and its local, so we come in every so often. We like the wings, both traditional and boneless. Also the peanut butter ice cream pie thing for dessert ($3) is a great deal and delicious. The only issue is that the mix they use to make Bloody Mary's (which is advertised on the wall) is pretty awful. Not the bartenders fault at all. I HIGHLY do not recommend it. Let's start with how I didn't think we were at the right place when meeting some family here.... when approaching the pub there was about 8 guys with a cooler out back drinking! Yep... drinking. Needed to pull up a chair for us all to fit. They didn't bother to ask us if we needed more space. The food was ok and the service was the same OK at best. The restaurant itself was extremely loud and I normally am not someone to complain that I can't hear but I couldn't hear my family sitting there at our table. Had to look around for ketchup and napkins. One of us didn't get our full order when food was served though it was brought out shortly after. When we left.... the same bunch of "guys" were still drinking by the back which turns out is an exit and now straight from full sized liquor bottles. Totally intoxicated. Boy has this place gone down hill. Went there expecting to get a really good burger as a few years ago they were. I was really disappointed. Ordered a cheeseburger medium. It couldn't have been cooked any more well done; dry, tasteless and like chewing shoe leather. It had what to me seemed like that twice cooked taste, cooked earlier 898accounting for how overcooked it was. My opinion it had been cooked earlier and reheated to melt the cheese. Great food. Good service. Was there last night 11/6/21. Go here about once a month. Last night however (a busy Friday) I was annoyed about the TV: They had sports on all of them along with one news channel. Unfortunately that ONE news channel was FOX news. No other news stations. You could not hear what they were saying with the crowd noise, not a problem. But every headline FOX displayed on the screen was trash. UNTRUE bull shit statements about everything that is wrong with the current adminisrtation... and none of it true. Flat out lies. With no other station on but sports here is what is happening: The young crowd around the bar area is subject to seeing only this fake news. no wonder we are in a divide. Too bad the bar tender doesn't realize this is just wrong. Also, for the first time in a long time none of the staff was wearing a mask. The food is what you'd expect from a bar. Some of the items are great, while others are lacking. My favorites include: wings, rueben and chicken wraps. The atmosphere is good with TV's throughout the bar. There's a game room area for the kids to get them off of your back so that you can enjoy an adult beveridge. The better half and I use to frequent this place quite a lot. We've eaten our way through most of the menu. The BBQ is is bottled and is just okay. The BBQ nachos is a LARGE portion and really has to much meat. Chicken sandwich is fried and really very good. The burgers are also good. But the burgers are broiled and to me get dried out. So today we went to the mostly empty restaurant bar and ordered the burgers cooked on the flat top at lunch time. I had chips and salsa on the side with the wife going for fries. The chips tasted fresh made since they were a little greasy. The fries were okay. The meat cooked on the flattop lets the flavor really come through. They were very good. Overall this place is pretty consistent. Prices seem reasonable and you'll do alright taking the kids in with you at dinner or lunch. read more

I have nothing good to say about this place. We came here and stood at the hostess station along with four other groups and were not acknowledged for 10 minutes. No hello, no smiles. Two of the groups ended leaving because none of us were being serviced. It was busy, but nowhere near as busy where they ignored customers. We were finally seated by the hostess who was the one walking around and NEVER said hi. Our waitress took a long time to greet us and she was slow with her service and not friendly. We went there to watch a game and the tv screens were so little we could not see where the ball was. The food was not good because it wasn't fresh. Once the game was over everyone headed out but we stayed for more drinks and dessert. A live band ended up coming and we were asked to move to a different table which was no big deal. We ended up moving again because the music was so loud and disrupting. Once we were in the back of the place it was still way too loud and we were shouting to one another but still could not hear each other. I understand a live band is playing, but the music was painfully too high. We will never come here again. read more
