i've never had a bad experience here. the staff is very sweet and they do their best to keep up with the insane amount of business they receive. i've come here with my grandma since i was young and always loved the cookies & hot chocolate, now i usually get an iced mocha before work. whether it's food items or coffee, everything is great, and i would gladly wait extra time for something that's handmade and baked in store that i can't get anywhere else. reading all of the negative reviews, i see a lot of people complaining about them being understaffed. well... as of right now, they're hiring! please be kind to food service workers. read more

Been a LONG time customer and my entire family has been a fan for years. Most recent order has me not wanting to return. The younger female manager was extremely rude to her employee and me when the employee asked a clarifying question on my behalf. The employee was apologetic and clearly embarrassed by her behavior when he said he would check with the decorators instead of her since she wasn't helpful. He took the cake order down as I instructed, but what I received upon pickup was not only short of the quality I have come to expect of this bakery, but appalling and disappointing. Instructions were not followed and the decorations were horrible. I asked for piped lettering and they printed the words on the edible paper in a generic Microsoft Word font that didn't even fit the top of the cake. The piping work looked like a child did it. I was willing to pay over $112 for an 8 inch round cake, but not to be treated poorly or not have instructions followed. The prices have clearly increased, but I knew their quality in the past had been worth it. The taste was consistent with past years and was a delicious cake despite looking like the Wal-mart cake decorator threw it together. Due to the timing of my celebration, re-doing it was not an option. But I can't confidently say I question returning. Price and quality did not align. read more

Old Tyme made our wedding cake and to this day, we still get so many compliments on how delicious it was. I am so happy we went forward with this bakery. They exceeded our expectations. I didn't know how I wanted the cake decorated either, so I just brought in fake flowers and they managed to decorate on their own and SO beautiful. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I like this bakery. I like that the have a system where you pull numbers and wait for you number so people cannot cut in line. If you want a few basic cookies (i.e., chocolate chip, peanut butter, etc.) prices are good. You can also pick up a cake, pie, bread, and other tasty treats. The ladies working there (I have never seen a man) are so friendly and patient. They also package your cookies so you arrive home with cookies in one piece. Old Tyme did my wedding cake! The hand painted gold dripping looked quite nice, and the guests raved about how moist and delicious the strawberry filled white cake was. The cake arrived on time as expected and they arranged the flowers beautifully. The prices to rent a cake plate were crazy, with $150 deposit on top of that so I ended up just buying one on amazon (shown). Also, we ran short on cake even though we paid to increase the size to accommodate more than the proper number they suggested. The quiche are really good too (love the artichoke quiche). I like that they include a complimentary cookie with your meal. Snickerdoodles! Mmmm The pastries, cakes and cookies are delicious. And so when we received a gold-dusted pyramid chocolate mousse cake as a welcome gift, I thought it was high time to check the place out. They have a corner location on Geer Road. Their interior is very cozy, with tasteful music to keep the ambience going. There is a number machine upon entry but on a slow day, the personnel make sure you are being helped. Again, I am not a pastry fan but I have to say that their cookies and frosting are really good. Everything is wonderfully displayed. Compared to all the other bakeries I've been to, it's probably more of a 4 star spot, but I'm giving it an extra star just because a place like this is hard to come by in Turlock (& likely the Central Valley as a whole). Whenever my sweet tooth calls, I pop my head in and pick something up. They have eclairs, cookies, cupcakes, macarons, baklava, coffees, breads, and much more. They even have salads and sandwiches (none of which I've tried though). My favorite item is their Caramel Apple Bars - which I highly recommend! Their service can use a little work, but Olde Tyme gets quite busy, so it doesn't really bother me. We had previously gotten a delicious raspberry cheesecake from here before. This time however the cake slice on the left is artificial tasting, too sugary, and dry. So annoyed that I had also purchased a full size cake of it that I gifted to friends today. Clearly should've tasted it before and not relied when I asked for the advice about it. The cheesecake in the middle is the redeeming one in my opinion, but still not anywhere more than mediocre. Well let me first start off by saying that I have been wanting to try this place for a while. We came from Atwater, and we were definitely not disappointed!!! We started off in the deli and I got the turkey and pepper jack sandwich on a croissant with a cup of chicken tortilla soup, which was the soup of the day. We both ordered the half sandwich and soup but because of a slight wait they gave us a full size sandwich. There was a lady in the deli section who went above and beyond to provide us not only with good customer service but she made sure that we enjoyed our lunch, I believe her name was Carrie but I didn't catch her name on her name tag. Then we made our way over and choose several selections from the beautiful display of desserts. I took away a star because I felt rushed when trying to make our Bakery selections, the girl who helped us was somewhat friendly but not very helpful when we were asking questions and she acted very impatient. Other than that we had a lovely experience and now that we're home we've been getting into all the goodies and all of them are out-of-this-world delicious!!!! I haven't been to this bakery since I was 15. Today we celebrated my 31st birthday and I told my husband I wanted a Fruit Basket cake. Last time I got one was when I was 15, and this year I just had a hankering for one. Let me tell you! 16 years later and the cake is just as amazing as I remember!
