My friends and I came to Olive & Grill on a Friday night for dinner and it was a pleasant surprise at how good the food was. This is a Mediterranean restaurant that also serves hookah, but we just had dinner so I will not be addressing the quality of the hookah in this review. We had a reservation for 5 people at around 7pm, the table was ready and waiting for us so we got seated immediately upon arriving. The ENTIRE time we had an amazing and attentive waitress who was on top of her game named Eva (sorry if I that is not how your name is spelled) and on top of that, very entertaining the whole time, we had a blast with her fun and witty banter, just left us with a great impression of the establishment. The food was so good, I can't wait to go back for more. We ordered Kibbeh nayeh (chi-kofta), Cheese fatayer (boreg), Beef lula plate with extra skewer, Combo beef plate, Chicken breast plate. The appetizer Kibbeh Nayeh came with a good sized portion we split with 5 people, doable if 5 large guys are being conservative and if you split with 2-3 people would be quite a hefty portion, flavor was good, texture was good, would order again. The appetizer Cheese Fatayer came hot and full of flavor, a bit light on portion, it was 6 pieces, but it was actually 3 of them cut in half, that could use a few more pieces, maybe, what can I say we like fried cheesy goods... the beef bbq plates were all a hit, the beef lula and the steak cuts were the highlights of my dinner, the steaks were marinated well and so perfectly tender I contemplated order another but the portion was so filling I could only wait until my next visit to have more. I did not personally try the chicken breast my friend ordered but for someone who likes chicken breast, he had a so-so opinion on it which I'll take with a grain of salt since I'm already not a fan of chicken breast. All the entrees come with substitutable sides for an extra fee, there's quite the list of things to choose from. As I mentioned, they also serve hookah, we didn't have any but it also seemed very overpriced. They also had a full bar, we didn't order drinks either. The seating is semi-outdoor, it's like a well covered patio with plants everything, like a very nicely organized and landscaped back yard. The tables included ones where you'd sit upright like an average dining table and others much like a booth table, I'm sure some people would see value in the options of choosing which they'd prefer. The atmosphere was nice and chill, much like us, others were there with their friends just hanging out, having dinner and some have hookah as well. The location is in studio city and there is always a parking issue there BUT this location has a dedicated parking structure which is so nice and a valet! The parking structure was actually so cost effective and pretty much unoccupied at the time of our visit. Overall, loved our experience there and absolutely plan to go again in the future. read more

Had such a great experience at Olive Pit! The steak was absolutely incredible--perfectly cooked, super flavorful, and so juicy. The pita bread was soft and warm, and the hummus? Next level. Creamy, rich, and honestly one of the best I've had. The fries were also a standout--crispy, well-seasoned, and addicting. What really elevated our visit, though, was our server Baglan. He was amazing--so attentive, constantly checking in, refilling our drinks without us even asking, and clearing plates quickly without being disruptive. 3 Stars is an overall rating. When I first walked in, I was told I had my pick of any 2 top. That was great. I thought they had a rooftop. They actually have a retractable made of some type of cloth, it seemed. With the "roof" being open, the trees had free reign to drop all of their particles onto the tables. Every table I encountered had to be cleared of tree debris as well as the seats. The hostess was nice and polite, and so was my server, Gabriel. They seemed short staffed. He had a lot to handle. I will say the food is amazing. The food alone will make me order carryout. I am a happy vegan patron food wise. The big downer for me is that you might be sitting next to someone smoking hooka. Is it a club or a restaurant? Smoke kept blowing in my direction, and ultimately, I departed sooner than I would have liked. It is a decent setting with a thought, but it just missed the mark for me. There was a musician playing live music, our server Sara was so personable and easygoing, and the atmosphere was like a little oasis away from the bustle of Studio City (it almost felt like we were at a restaurant abroad)! Lovely place! They recently got rid of hookah and I think that made the whole place 10x better! The crowd is much more elevated now! Love it! Probably the best decision they made! Went here with my partner on a Friday night. They have a cool instagram video that reels you in which prompted me to book a reservation. The video made it look authentic enough to try. Got there around 645pm. Expected live music and belly dancers, but unfortunately, we got there too early. We left around 8pm when the live guitarist started his set. The food was good but not great. The whole fish entree looked nice when it came out but tasted really fishy. We did not think it was appetizing. However, the hummus plate, mushroom kabob, and feta plate was delicious. If I come here again, I would just order appetizers and not the entrees. Also, we started off with a female server who was awesome, but for some reason, (I believe it was the male manager) had taken over our table and he was not the warmest. I asked if they validated garage parking and he brushed me off. Maybe he was annoyed we did not use their valet? Validated or not, I only paid $1.50. It's super close to the restaurant so I recommend parking in the rear garage if you don't feel the need to valet your car. I had questions about an entree and the male server had no clue what I was talking about nor did he inquire with anyone else about it. I felt uncomfortable and quickly ordered something from the menu that we ended up not liking. Had he been more knowledgeable about the food, I wouldn't have ordered it. Didn't catch his name but the owners should look into who manages and serves since there are previous complaints. All in all, this place is okay. I would have added another star if our female server had stuck with us and we didn't have to interact with the male server/ manager. You may have a better time with a big group if you smoke hookah and catch the belly dancers. read more

The people who own this place have no clue. First of all the portions are baby size, literally. The prices are 5 star for 1 star flavor/portions . The food is nothing super average. The type of place where after you eat, you cant remember what you had. I never like mandatory gratuity either because this does not motivate the server to give exemplary service, especially if the servers don't get any of it. You haven't even proved you deserve it. Thus, you can treat me like trash and forget about me all night, but you still get a tip. Nope, the service and the baby portions make this place super forgettable. Everything about this restaurant was great! First, the food - the Armenian salad was really great and refreshing as an appetizer. Also, I am Persian and I thought that the ground chicken kabob (called Chicken Lula on their menu) was really great. Full of flavor. I liked the spices they added to the rice and the garlic dipping sauce the dish came with was so good. My friends pretty much got the same thing except with a combo beef and chicken and they really liked it too! The service was impeccable - our server checked on us several times and was very attentive. Everything came out very quickly too. The owner or manager also walked around a lot and made sure every table had everything they needed. They also accept reservations! We were there at 6:30pm. They get busier later at night. The decor is beautiful! I love how it's all outside and the space is really well designed. It was so open and breezy. Later around 8 they had live music and it was beautiful. Really nice guitar playing! The location is prime. Studio City was the perfect meeting spot and there is a public parking structure right next to the restaurant and it had plenty of parking. This is the second time we have come to dine here now. I genuinely love the food, the Lula is fantastic, and the starters and sides are great price as well with lost of flavor. The food here is by far the best part of the experience and is what brought me back the second time. Now, the service, on the other hand, is unfortunate. The first time me and my husband and I brought his brother for a special occasion. This I noted in the reservation, typically you would expect your host or server to read the reservation notes and acknowledge this. It didn't happen that's okay I chalked that one up. We just went somewhere else for that special dessert, no problem. But the food was so good despite the bad service we can back with my mother in law. This is when the bad service bothers me enough to review. Both times, we came on a Monday and had Gabrielle as our server. He won't refill water unless you waive him down. He doesn't make your stay stand out. He also clearly doesn't study your menu. I had ordered the yerevan both times and I loved it. I wanted to order a paperplane next he told me he didn't have the Amaro, and even though it's in the drink, I had already ordered twice.. It's not that big of a deal. The problem is when you're spending close to $500 for 4 people, and you can't even bother your server for water with out a attitude. I asked the other server I believe Henry as he walked by for a refill with water and he couldn't be bother he said let me find your server mind you we were 1 of 2 tables there at this period of time. They don't check in on you or ask how anything is. I recommend them for their food and their yerevan cocktail. If you want good service or attention to detail like you should have when paying these prices, you' better off somewhere down the street. The vibes of the decor and hookah are nice, not worth the 50 for a bowl either. We had 3 margaritas, each glass had almost an additional $3 charge per glass on top of the price of $16. Would be nice to let us know there will be add-ons to the drinks. The add on was for the tajin and margarita. Thought we paid $16 for the drinks, didn't know there was additional charge for margarita? Deceiving and was never explained to us. Front of house was a bit rude. It was freezing cold and raining outside. Because we were the first patrons of the evening, they only wanted one heater on. It's an outdoor space, very cold, and unwelcoming without heat. Who wants to eat dinner with their wet winter coats on? After a bit of back and forth, he turned on an additional heater. Delicious food & unbeatable ambiance. Located in the back of a large building, but looks like a garden paradise. Everything was delicious, but my favorite was the lamb chops out of the kebab choices. If you love lamb, you must try it. If you've never had soujoukh, they have that on the menu and it's delicious. One thing to keep in mind is they don't love last minute large groups. So if you are going to go with a large group, I think you have to make a special arrangement more in advance. If that's not appealing to you, then only go there with a smaller group and you'll have a great time. After reading one star reviews, I realized that we were so lucky that we left this place and enjoyed another great restaurant! I have been in the USA for 30 years and I have never seen such a horrible thing! We had a reservation, we went in last night for my birthday, and they gave us a very small table. We asked for a bigger table to have space for our big order. The host named "Jake" acted like a psycho and showed a bad attitude and he didn't give us the table we asked for. Only one couple was sitting there and the whole restaurant was empty. We turned around to leave and he was screaming from far "Gooooood Night, Gooooooooood night!" like a small child. We were shocked. We called back after 20 minutes and he got the phone. I asked who is Jake's supervisor, he said Andrew. I knew he lied, so I said I call back later. Today morning I called and a lady named Ani said the supervisor's name is Tanya, and they didn't have Andrew! Ani said that Tanya would call me. Then someone called and said his name was Tony. I said why they told me Tanya. He said No, it is Tony. Such horrible management! Disgusting! He apologized and offered a free champagne and dessert! But I will not go back there. They lost big money last night, but we spent our money somewhere else and enjoyed our dinner somewhere better. I just didn't understand what was wrong with this place and why they lied about the supervisor's name. This shows how low the power of management is over there. read more

The beef lula, combo chicken plate and Sojouk was what we ordered for the main with the side of the trio and cheese pastries. I have to say for a delivery order I was pleased. The garlic dipping sauce went well with the food as well as the seasoned rice. The food was cooked properly and it was all about flavor here. The trio side was so delicious especially the yogurt. The only thing is that the tomatoe could have been cooked a bit longer so it could be squishy, but other than that i will try this place again. read more

Came here on a Monday night for a mother's day dinner. We ordered some appetizers and filet mignon kabobs except for my chicken shawarma that was tasteless, a bit under cooked and cold. Armenian salad was amazing and fresh. Ordered 2 desserts. Baklava and ice cream. The ice cream description stated that it came with fruit but then when it was brought just a couple of berries were placed because apparently they had run out. Waitress seemed like she was the only one attending to multiple tables and very little help around. We asked several times to get drink/water refills. Asked for hot sauce and it was forgotten. When we asked for the bill, it took more than 30 mins to get picked up, until iI bought it up to podium. I gave the waitress some constructive criticism to share with the kitchen staff about my food. The waitress then asks me, if I had worked in a restaurant before and when I replied , "no, I haven't" she had a snarky remark which I thought was a bit uncalled for. Came here with my MBA cohorts and we had a great time! It has a great vibe and atmosphere. We ordered kebab plates, cheese bureg, French fries, hookah and a margarita. Everything was delicious! They make the cheese bureg in my favorite style, which is like an egg roll, and the filling was absolutely delicious! The fries were equally amazing, they were thin and crispy just how I like it! I can rarely find places that make fries this way so I definitely had to order them when I saw them coming out of the kitchen for another table. The kebab plates were so fragrant and delicious, too! I can't believe I had never heard of this place before! The hookah flavor we chose hit the spot as well! Mint chocolate chill was so soothing and refreshing, I definitely recommend! However, the $50 price-tag was a bit steep! Although it's a hookah place, you cannot smoke cigarettes on the patio. The staff was very friendly and attentive, service was amazing! Very disappointed as i had at a reservation at 8PM After being approached to wait as table was getting ready for us to seat. They gave our table away as an "incident" happened. This is unfair as waiting for over 30 mins as loyal customer to give us unacceptable rude attitude and was unable to fulfill our reservation because they uncoordinatedly sat other customers at our reserved table. read more

We sat at booth and then asked to move because the booth seat cushions were disgusting. Stained, full of hair. We switched to a table but I was already kinda of grossed out. The food was good, I just couldn't eat comfortably thinking about the cleanliness of the place. Service was mediocre- no refills on waters or beverages until we had already asked for the check. Hubs and I wanted some yummy middle eastern food and hookah so we came here! It was our first time there in a longg time so everything was different. The atmosphere was nice, fun and elegant. It was a windy cold day out and we went and got seated in a corner. The heater was on but it you can still feel the breeze so it wasn't that helpful. We ordered watermelon with light mint hookah which was so good and the smoke was perfect! We ordered the spicy labne to start with. It wasn't good. I wouldn't order it again. It wasn't spicy. It just tasted like yogurt with cucumbers, more of a tzatziki instead of Lebne. My beef lule and chicken combo plate was a decent size but definitely not for that price! They charged me almost $8 extra to replace the rice with salad. The salad was a smaller portion than the rice. When I got to the beef lule, I noticed it wasn't cooked very thoroughly . It was still raw inside. They apologized and remade a new one, which was better! The grilled jalapeños were delicious and was pretty spicy!
