The salad itself is mostly lettuce, but it's covered in so much dressing that it could practically be soup. No complaints here; it's delicious. Now, the main course. I ordered the Tour of Italy, which is like the greatest hits album of Italian food. It's a triple threat of lasagna, chicken parmigiana, and fettuccine alfredo. This plate is a heart attack waiting to happen, but what a way to go! Each bite is a culinary adventure that takes you from the smoky ruins of Rome to the cheesy paradise of Naples. The portions are so big that I was half expecting to get an eviction notice from my table for overstaying my welcome. The service was... an adventure. Our waiter had the enthusiasm of a sloth on a caffeine detox, but he was nice enough. He had this way of disappearing just when you needed a refill, but he always reappeared right on time to see you awkwardly licking the alfredo sauce off your fingers. Classic. For dessert, we went with the Tiramisu. It was light, fluffy, and probably the most authentic part of the meal. By the end, I was so stuffed that I needed a forklift to get me out of my chair. All in all, Olive Garden is where you go when you want to feel like you're in Italy but only have gas money to get you to the local strip mall. There's a very clear distinction between cooks and chefs. Chefs know how to cook pasta so it's not soggy. Chefs also know how to dress a salad so it's not drowning in dressing. Tonight we dined at Olive Garden Italian Restaurant while visiting Gainesville. We thought it would be great to have an Olive Garden experience like what we are accustomed to at home in the OC-SoCal. It was stellar because of the one person that gave us 200% of service. Her name is Edith and she handled everyone's dining wishes, from strictly Vegan to one that loves spaghetti and sausage to one wanting as much soup and another ordering the angel hair pasta. It was a delight and a table of four of us that was covered with all 4 available soups and salads and entrees and the never ending buttery breadsticks. The decision to dine at this Olive Garden was a definite winner. For dessert we ordered the simply delicious warm Italian donuts with a chocolate dip...unfortunately the sweet raspberry dip was not available. This was a very enjoyable experience in all respects. Our server was Jeremia and he left us wanting for nothing! Fast refills and attentive service, without overdoing it. The breadsticks were hot and soft and freshly baked. The salad was great, as always, but the real shining star tonight was the entrees. The seafood Alfredo was particularly good with the scallops having been first pan seared. A first for Olive Garden to my experience. My spouse enjoyed the Tour of Italy and commented on its excellence. The facility was clean as a whistle. The only slight minus was the two large parties who were seated next to our booth after our arrival with several tables pushed together. Loud and obnoxious with toddlers running rampant. An hour and a half of my life was wasted today at Olive Garden. After calling ahead for a 7 top, waiting for 90 MINUTES after arriving. While waiting I was told that we would have a 30 minute wait. From 12:43 to 2PM we waited, watching other parties be seated, and watching them sit other parties. I used to work at this location as a server for three years. We won Darden Diamond club while I worked here. Tables 234, 244, 434 and 444 were open and available to be pushed together for our party of 7, however our 30 minute wait turned into and hour and a half. Each time was asked the hostess in the strawberry themed uniform threw her hands up and seemed annoyed that we were even asking. When we asked to be taken off the wait because after an hour and a half the three kids were done waiting she was relieved that we were leaving and just said "okay." Today my family and I came to this restaurant at 9:15 to celebrate my 2 graduates a one of my guest (grad) when out the door to get my daughter (grad) her flower as he was coming in they didn't let him in the door as they say it was a company policy. I have definitely had better experiences at other locations. I am not saying this location is bad on any levels, but the service could have been speedier since the restaurant was by no means packed. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, but my party felt like he could have been speedier. It just took so long for the waiter to make his way towards our table when we really needed him. As we settled ourselves down, the waiter offered our party a wine sample. This was something new and different for Olive Garden. I tried two different soup selections: zuppa Toscana and chicken & gnocchi. I would recommend the chicken & gnocchi since it was creamy and more filling. For the main course, I had the take home special: Enjoy one pasta selection and take the 2nd one as a to-go. Of course the selection was limited, but it was decently priced and delicious. My friend had the stuffed chicken marsala. I had a taste test, and it was delicious! The mash potatoes with mushrooms sprinkled on top was pretty good, and I am not a fungus eater. :) The overall experience is not bad. The service could have been a bit speedier. I guess having an Olive Garden in Gainesville is better than driving to Buford. Unlimited breadsticks with soup or salad... come on, just go here and stop debating. ;) read more

This is Olive Garden so you basically should know what you are getting. If you don't know it's what I refer to as Italian Denny's. It's basically American Italian food and not going to be authentic. You know that coming in and so don't think coming here is going to be like having an Italian Nona cooking for you or being in Italy. With that said the good is decent. This is a good place to go with a group or picky eaters who know like pasta dishes. And by picky I mean people who aren't adventurous not a foodie snob. I do like the soups here which is often why we come here. The salad isn't bad but the soup and salad deal you can't beat. The salad is iceberg so it's basic. The pastas are okay and we have had some luck with trying the seasonal items for a little bit better pasta dinner. Oh and I forgot they have breadsticks which seem to be addicting and great to dip into your soup. They do have a bar and wines. They will offer you a sample of wine before you have a glass which is a nice touch. Overall it's not a bad place to go and they can accommodate large groups. read more

It's a chain but it's well run, the servers and kitchen staff are well trained and everything is as you would expect to be. Came here on a Sunday night with family. I ordered the Asiago Tortelloni Alfredo with Grilled Chicken omg it was so good. The salad was also amazing and fresh. I also tried other dishes on the table the Stuffed Ziti Fritta was good they are like noodles stuffed with cheese. The white sauce the comes with it goes great together. I also tried the chicken dumpling soup it was ok I wish the chicken was big and not shredded and it only came with three tiny dumplings :( Other than that the food was fantastic and our waiter was the best waiter I have ever. read more
