Nice looking design, and people working there were friendly. Seems like a middle east version of Chipotle. I thought that the prices were inflated, and 7 dollars for my falafel was somewhat of a rip off. The sandwich "looked good", but there wasnt much substance or flavor. The guy put a small teaspoon of hummus on it, along with some chopped vegetable. Overall it was somewhat dry. I may give it another go and try one of the meat sandwiches. I would recommend driving a mile west and going to Sultan's Market. Better food and better value. read more

It has so much potential, but they refuse to realize it. I've been to this place at least a dozen times over the past year and after the meal I'm usually somewhat annoyed that it was almost good, but not quite there. I only go to the place because it's near where I live and the chicken is halaal. The issues: 1) It's quite expensive for pretty mediocre food. They just raised their prices substantially, so now a chicken shwarma sandwich and a drink is around $11. This place doesn't even have an "authentic" middle eastern feel, so really, in a place like Chicago, if you want genuine middle eastern food bursting with flavor for a reasonable price, there are dozens of much better options. 2) No salt, no lemon (or lemon juice), and no condiments at all (aside from hot sauce and tahini sauce). Call me crazy, but any restaurant that serves meat and vegetables needs to have salt and pepper and lemon or some basic condiments. Every real middle eastern joint has lemon wedges and salt. Seriously. WTF. At this place, the attitude is: "take it how we serve it or don't eat here." I've actually brought in salt packets (and once ketchup packets) to give the food actual flavor. 3) They are virtually always "out" of chicken pies. I've had them twice and the other several times I went they simply said "we're out." Uh, so can you make some more?? WTF. They have all the ingredients right in front of them along with that big oven, so get to work, stuff the pie, and bake it. 4) Flies / fleas are a staple of this establishment, winter or summer, rain or shine. Pretty much every time I've been there, I've had to guard my food and bat away flies and fleas. I don't know what the deal is, but they need to exterminate the place or something. I really want to like this place, but I don't see that happening. It's a cookie-cutter "chain" with an attitude and terrible management. This used to be my go to for lunch, but just went recently and the food and service has gone downhill... Everything was super salty, including the rice and salads, and the hummus had way too much oil and spice. The food used to have balance! And my stomach was upset afterwards, which never happened before. Also, they became super light on the meat. Then the guy serving me made a point of telling me he was "generously" giving me 2 pitas, instead of 1. They always gave 2 before. New management or whatever is going on stinks. I'd seen this place (the North Avenue location) when I was coming for physical therapy in the building across the street. Then one day I was going for a massage in the same building - I was early and I was starving. There happened to be a place in the tiny parking lot so I pulled in. I am decidedly not a fan of fast food places - no matter what kind of food they serve. So I was surprised when I walked in to see that's what this is. But I figured, hey, I'm hungry and I'm here. And the decor didn't feel too sterile and cold. You walk up to the glass-covered counter and a couple of friendly folk are there to explain the menu choices. Prices looked reasonable. Instead of getting one of their combos I picked two side dishes and carried the covered containers over to a comfortable-enough table. * First surprise: a puffy, fluffy rich-tasting pita. None of that dry, flat-layered pre-packaged stuff. I was only going to eat half, but it was awfully good. * My Mediterranean Salad consisted of tomatoes, cukes, herbs and spices. Tasty, spicy, fresh and good. * Also got the spiced baba ganoush, trimmed with what looked like dark paprika and drizzled with a little olive oil. Rich-tasting and good. * Servings were generous enough that I took home a little of each and ate it as an appetizer later. Best surprise of all: my credit card charge was only $5.52. This place is tucked into a tiny open strip mall next to a New York Bagel outlet. If you're in the neighborhood, give it a try. read more

I ordered catering service for a training meeting, and this place is popular with my employeed. I ordered chicken and steak with rice hummus pita and salad. I broke three forks trying to cut the steak it was so tough and fatty. The catering bill was over 900.00 for 40 people which is quite steep compared to other catering services. I usually stop here after my appointments in the area to pick up dinner for my husband and I because he loves it. we usually get the plates which is 9 bucks and it's a lot of food for that price. I rarely finish all of it. I love their chicken shawarma, rice, hummus and falafel. My husband likes their beef kabob but I find it a bit fatty. It's a small place and is always packed! The customer service team are hit or miss but it's busy so I get it. They're not rude, they're just rushed. I like that the food is not greasy and it's better than a burger and fries. OMG has been our favorite Mediterranean restaurant for the last 5 years or so but over the past few months their management changed and things haven't been the same! They are extremely inconsistent and that makes us really sad. Today we ordered the falafel sandwich, chicken kabob sandwich and both of these were super dry. The food was flavorful and decent, but they didn't have any fresh vegetables that weren't in their pre-prepared salads. This meant that everything had dressing, salt, etc on it, and so the resulting meal wasn't quite the flavor I was looking for. The meal cost me $100 more becuase it took me and my daughter 38 mintues to eat, and we were booted by one of those parking lot companies becuase there is a sign on the wall(not in front of this restaurant of course) that says 30 minutes max parking. I had to pay $100 cash to a woman that wouldnt give me a receipt to not have my car towed. This is such a scam. The restaurant manager said there was nothing they could do for me. My gym is right above Olive and I always wondered how it would be, so I finally went in and man am I glad I did. Start with the staff-they are friendly and eager to help walk you through their many options of amazingly fresh meats, salads and sides. The chicken they use is so tender, thick and juicy, its addictive. The Mediterranean salad and hummus rein supreme and whether you eat there in the well appointed dining room or take it with, you will clean your plate and go back again and again. Probably the BEST in healthy and fresh food options in the neighborhood-quite possibly the city. Easy street parking around the 1 block area or in their parking lot (which can be busy at times, but worth the effort). Try it all-each dish is better than the last. read more

I brought my company car in for an oil change and as I waited for it to be ready I wandered into OMG (after a lil retail therapy, of course). I'm not typically a huge fan of this type of food to be honest, however I was quite impressed. I had the steak schwarma and dang!!! Yummy!! I couldn't even finish the whole thing. I felt like they gave me a lot of steak, which made me happy. It's a much better alternative to the usual Subway sandwich or NYC Bagel option. It kind of reminds me of a Chipotle only mediterranean! I'm pretty sure the whole pita sandwich was healthy, however the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 stars is lack of any nutrition info posted in the restaurant, online, or even available verbally from employees. They tout the place as healthy healthy healthy but offer no proof which somewhat bothers me. Otherwise, I'd def recommend it and return. read more

A young asian girl behind the counter wouldn't listen to us, was rude, and we stood there for at least 10 minutes waiting for someone to slice the chicken shawarma. I have eaten at this place a few times. The food is fresh and prep before your eyes. Personally my favorite is the chickpeas salad which is side.
