****Better off going to Olive Garden**** ---- ZERO STARS ---- Literally, the WORST experience, Mediterranean food, and service I've ever had. Upon entering, it was my first time ever visiting, and when I inquired about the options, I was told that if I went with a platter, I got to try a little bit of everything as you can see from the photo that is not what took place the feta, which is literally the only other ingredient available was extra, and I was turned off by that because to be told that everything was included, and then the feta is extra was really a feeling of beating switch. All of the meat seemed as though I had been sitting for a while, unbeknownst to me. There was new meat cooking, and I never was told that otherwise I would have happily waited. Though the customers who arrived after us who were told what was fresh. Sitting down to eat was another ordeal in itself as all of the tables were pretty much dirty, except for the two upfront and trying to use the restroom is a maze. There is a lack of concern for walk-in customers, and they may do better as a to go only restaurant. As we were leaving, my mother asked if they had straws and the young lady with a ponytail that was the cashier for the day, replied shortly in tone and rudely "no". I've then proceeded to ask her that in the future when speaking to somebody's mother to try saying no ma'am or no, we don't unfortunately. She said whatever and I left it at that. I would never recommend this location. I highly recommend heading to Greektown for authentic Mediterranean food, The new spot on Fulton market Lyra, or even roti which is right across the street where you can actually get your moneys worth and when they say you can add anything you want they mean it. Also, the food is properly cooked and not rushed. Mind you I don't fault the staff I do believe there is a lack of management, training and ability to create atmosphere that makes one grateful for their job. #chicago #OliveMediterranean #AwfulFood #DoNotEatHere #HorrendousService #TerribleCashier #NoConcernForWalkinCustomers #ShouldBeAllToGoOrders #BadRestaurants #WorstRestaurantsInChicago

Roti was next door but decided to try this place . The food is so good. The employees definitely know how to season food. The service was fast. Was my first time here and got things recommended. Will be coming back .

One of my favorite spots to get quick, affordable, and delicious Mediterranean. I love the falafel and chicken shawarma on a plate with rice hummus and salad. Always so tasty. The staff is great and you're in and out fast. The place always looks clean and you can sit and eat comfortably.

OMG! I honestly didn't want to come here at first. I mean there's already a lot of these fast food chipotle/subway like Mediterranean joints around town, but I'm glad my wife convinced me to try this place out. OMG offers a plate where you can choose what kind of meat you want and then three sides. I chose hummus, tabbouli salad and basmati rice. For my meat I opted for their steak shawarma. My wife ordered their chicken shawarma. The plates were filling and came with pita bread. I usually use the pita bread to create a sandwich and put everything in there. Everything also tasted fresh and the steak was tender. They even had a special, buy one plate get second half off. Such a great deal and even better when you aren't expecting it. Their service was great and wouldn't mind stopping by again sometime in the future.

Really love this food. It is flavorful and super fresh . I am giving it 4 stars only bc of the seating . It's cold, small, and not comfy or inviting . So I just pickup my food and go ! It doesn't stop me from coming :)

    Chicken Shawarma Sandwich?

We wanted something light for lunch today so we decided to try Olive. Never again. My husband went in to order so I could stay in the car with my kid, but I chose the chicken shawarma salad because it's my standby. They didn't give him any options to customize the sandwich, there are absolutely no pickles or tomatoes on it, and somehow there are potatoes?? The absolute worst Shawarma sandwich I have ever had. I mean, look at this picture. Would you eat that?

The taramasalata was my favorite. -a horiatiki salad, basically a greek salad with no lettuce. -octopus and the kolokithia (zucchini chips) A perfect lunch. The space is beautiful--open, bright, full of natural light, and stylish without feeling overdone. We ordered the Short Rib Shakshuka, which was flavorful with just a hint of spice and a generous portion size. The warm, soft pita served alongside was perfect for dipping. The Steak and Eggs was also excellent--the steak and eggs were cooked perfectly, and the fried potatoes were a standout: crispy on the outside while still moist and tender inside. Portion sizes were just right. We also tried both of the recommended brunch cocktails, and they were strong, flavorful, and well balanced. Service from Mike was great--friendly, efficient, and attentive throughout the meal. Overall, Aba delivered a polished and enjoyable brunch experience. The place is beautiful with a lively terrace on nice days but also a very open and bright interior with modern decor. We were seated right away at a table off to the side of the bar area. We must have waited like 15-20 minutes before anyone even realized that we were there. It seemed as though none of the servers running around serving other tables around us had our table to service. Eventually we caught the attention of who I can only imagine was a manager or supervisor who finally came over to take our orders. We ordered the Smokey garlic hummus which fresh pita bread and this was very good. We also ordered the crispy potatoes and the Brussel sprouts as a side. These were also nice and crispy and the brussel sprouts had a tasty kick with the harissa honey. For our main we had the chicken kebab which was perfectly cooked and tender, braised short rib (not as good), and the shawarma skirt steak frite. We quite enjoyed our meal and everything very fast which more than made up for the initial delay in service. For dessert we decided to share a frozen Greek yogurt with Olive Oil and sea salt. This had an interesting taste with a tanginess at the end. I'm not sure I would order this again but you could tell the Greek yogurt was of very good quality. All in all we enjoyed our meal at Aba and would definitely come back if in town.

Made last minute reservations for brunch next day after the infamous architecture tour. It was quiet as we've put in an early morning. All the more better to savor all intricate dishes from start to finish. Like the name, The Purple Pig, their specialty is pork dishes so majority of our orders were this. Daily special of the bone marrow bacon jam toast - glazed, slippery off the bone, savory and sweet. Always love a good bone marrow dish to get the sweetness off it. This was so good that there were bits of the marrow and jam left stuck to the bone, I took a piece of the toast and scooped the bone dry. Nothing left for anyone to attack this. Non pork dishes were the Mushroom 3 ways and Spanish octopus. Mushroom dish was savory with all the coated sauces elevating this. Spanish octopus was kicked lightly and easily can bite in to enjoy the tender and charred portions. But the award went to my main course - the braised pork shoulder with saffron, apricots and Swiss chard. Aside from the rippable pork meat when dining on it, the sauces fused together on this dish elevated it and had everyone coming back for more. I needed an official Chicago culinary experience and found it at The Purple Pig without a doubt.

It's pretty cool that although the restaurant doesn't serve alcohol, staff from the adjacent bar came around every so often and took orders. For appetizers, we started with the feta and olive appetizers. They were good, but I'd probably order something a little more unique next time. I opted for the chicken kalamata dinner for the main event, which came with more french bread and a salad. The salad came out first, and it was pretty simple with minimal dressing. I wished there had been more variety in produce and something besides iceberg lettuce for greens. I'd recommend getting some feta on the side to add some flavor. The chicken, however, was absolutely outstanding. It was super tender, seasoned beautifully with za'atar, and brined in vinegar (I think). The za'atar seasoned french fries underneath were extra crispy and perfectly soaked up the extra sauce from the chicken.
