Stopped in to Olive as a last minute option. We arrived in the city late and many places were closed and ready to close. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Also helpful with suggestions to members of my party who weren't very experienced with Mediterranean cuisine. I had the chicken shawarma. It wasn't what I was expecting, it wasn't bad but not great either. Very greasy. The hummus was too runny in my opinion. I did like the mixed veggies. They were very flavorful and cooked perfectly. A friend had the chicken kabob and salad. She said her food was delicious, although the kabob was a deconstructed kabob and didn't come on a skewer.

My husband ordered half and half shawarma and I ordered half and half kabobs chicken/beef. The food was very good. Prices were about $17/plate, service was great, and fast! It's a small little place but if you're looking for a good meal with a decent price point in Nola, you'll have to try this for yourself.

Food The eggplant dip is so smoky and perfectly smooth, it was so good and I wish they had more pita given. Hummus was really nice and it was topped with pine nuts which was nice. Falafel was a tiny bit dry, but really nice and they gave you six for the price. I loved that they have healthy options in downtown and it was something different from the rest of the heavy foods that you find in the French Quarter. As a vegan, it was a bit difficult to find food here and it was good to have this option. Service Got takeout, but they had the food ready and packaged up. Super nice when they gave me the order. Ambiance There were plenty of booths and areas to be sitting. A few groups were already sitting down and they seemed to have a healthy takeout business.

Olive is a great casual Mediterrain cafe. Staff is friendly and explained a few menu options that I was not familiar with. Great decor highlighting olive oil and fun bottles. I ordered the fried cheese appetizer which was lightly toasted mild cheese with lives, cucumbers and tomato slices. The lamb chops were delightfully seasoned and very tasty. Hummus was excellent. My hubby had his standard gyro which is said was very good. I tried the Lebanese tea- too sweet for me; but lovers of sweet tea would really appreciate this beverage. Located just a few blocks off the French Quarter's Bourbon Street and easy to find.

I arrived hungry in New Orleans but did not want to eat too much prior to dinner. Olive offered the perfect gyro solution. Quick but tasty it served its purpose. Service was quick I wish I had tried the humus . The food is quick but the ambiance is not fast food. There are nice tables and seating.

Honestly just okay.. The zater bread was too salty but I guess I should've expected that. Fries were undersalted. Ordered the kallaya with vegetables, which tasted great but completely soaked in oil which I didn't love. The salad it came with had too much dressing on it but the green, tomato, cucumber, and onion were a great combo. And the hummus was a little too lemony for my taste. All in all, just an average meal.

My wife and I had a delicious dinner here while visiting New Orleans. We both love Mediterranean cuisine, and 'Olive' did not disappoint. Service was quick and friendly. Taste was exceptionally good. We plan to visit 'Olive' again before our New Orleans trip is over.

As much as New Orleans' southern cuisine mesmerizes you (from po boys to fried okras to crawfish/lobster to deep-fried alligator to name a few), you MIGHT get tired of the greasiness of it. When that happens to you, a restaurant like Olive comes in handy. My daughter and I were craving for something "healthy" like Mediterranean food to be specific. Upon doing a quick search, this restaurant came up with over 4 star ratings. Looked promising. It was only a few minutes walk from where we were at that time so without wasting any time, we rushed to here. Olive is a very simple-looking restaurant so fancy doesn't necessarily apply to this place. And yet it's more than a quick casual one for sure. As we walked in, we were immediately greeted by a man who told us to jus sit where we would want. We needed a few simple dishes to fill our half-filled stomachs (we ate at a nearby sushi restaurant which was disappointing so before we would spend more money there, we paid the tab and went here.) We set our eyes on the Greek Salad and Grape Leaves (app). They didn't take too long to come out of the kitchen. Well, the restaurant wasn't super busy so that could be why but it might have been that they are simply efficient and prompt in service. Greek Salad - Simply and yet fresh. Good portion, too. All he leaves in the bowl were fresh; nothing tasted old. Grape Leave - I like it when grape leaves are served warm. The size of the grape leaves was decently medium. 6 pieces on the plate. Good portion/good price, hence good value. I bet many people who got tired of eating deep-fried something day after day chose this place and left good reviews (like we did.) In a way, this restaurant exists like a haven for healthy eating. It was a life saver for us.

Great spot to grab a quick bite and some fresh food in New Orleans! We went on Saturday night and had no issues finding a spot. There are quite a few tables/booths. Seems like they do a lot of take out orders also. We ordered a falafel sandwich, gyro sandwich, and shared a tabbouleh. The sandwiches normally come on tortillas but they have the option for pitas which is what we did. The pita bread was super good, not dry at all! The sandwiches don't come with a side but there are a lot of good apps to order instead. Everything was super fresh and was ready super fast! The gentleman working was great, answered our questions and was overall very hospitable!

We needed a break from Cajun food and found Olive!! Olive's food feels so healthy and is an amazing lunch spot. We ate here twice despite being in NOLA for only 4 days. Every meat is juicy - the chicken shawarma, gyro, and kufta kebab. You just can't go wrong with anything. The hummus is also perfectly nutty and creamy. The service is also great and the guy who works here is very kind!

Walking in town from another food spot that I will not return to and my friend saw this place so we went in. I wish I didn't eat before, however, that didn't stop me from having the Lebanese tea and Baklava while my friend had her meal. The staff was super funny and witty. The decor was really nice. They can get crowded around lunch time so I'm glad we got their sooner. The food was very well priced and was flavorful and vibrant. My friend enjoyed her hummus plate and fries. I only wish it wasn't our last day in town, however, I know better now.

YOU * CAN * NOT * GO * WRONG * HERE We drove by and saw the signage. Lebanese and Mediterranean, and so good. We had the lamb. It was cooked and served flawlessly. Our server, the owner, knew the art of hospitality. Everything was clean and comfortable. I took pictures a little after starting to eat, so it's not an exact showing of when it was served. Sooo good! The kufta kabob and chicken kabob are absolute perfection. The falafel is amazing as well, and the babaganoush. The fried cheese was a hit too! So glad I came by this place randomly. Really nice owner as well. The prices are unbelievably reasonable too. Love this place

Food was amazing! Great service. Love the Half and Half Chicken and beef kabab. The Hummus with pepper and pita bread was so delicious and filling. Wanted to try the rice, but had no room left after I ate all the pita bread with the hummus. The Lamb gyro was delicious as well. I took some pictures of their delicious food and was compensated with a Baklava that hit the spot! The Olive Oil bottles wall decoration was unique and makes me want to go buy a bunch of olive bottles and do the same!? read more

Looking for something different decided to try this place. The service was very poor but we kind of understood a little because it was only 1 guy servicing and waiting in everyone. It was busy. The food was okay, we were a bit disappointed. Thought it would be better than the Greek restaurant back home but our Greek Restaurant back home was 10x better. The Hummus here wasn't impressive and the lamb kabobs were not seasoned good. It was tender which was a plus. The atmosphere wasn't appealing, but it didn't stop us from trying it out. We don't plan to return here in the future. read more

Really amazing find!! My bf and I found this place 4 days ago and have ordered 3 separate times already it's that good! I forgot to take pics for a good amount of it but the lamb burger was really really yummy with feta and tomato and lettuce. I love lamb burgers and this was a great one! We also had the falafel one day which came piping hot and was AMAZING I kept burning my mouth because I couldn't wait to eat it. We also had the beef and chicken shawarma plate which was really good and so much food for the price! Lastly had the spinach feta pie that was different than any I've had before it was really good and unique but do not expect that standard spinach feta pie but again still delicious. Would order everything I've had again and will probably go back tomorrow! read more

Actually purchased via DoorDash, but I thought I should leave this here because I checked Yelp before ordering. This was the single worst experience I have had with delivery food. The actual food is okay, though not worth the price. But the service was the WORST I've ever had. We purchased from here largely because they estimated a 35 minute delivery. That might have been possible if they had not made the decision to serve all dine-in customers before even starting on our meal. They did not prepare our meal until after they closed at 8:30 despite having received it at 6:53. That means they sat on the order for 90 minutes. (Despite estimating 35 minutes total...) In total, we waited two and a half hours to get the meal they estimated would take a fifth of that. We had hungry children up well past their bed time, and WE will pay for that tomorrow. In short, do NOT order from this restaurant. They simply do NOT care about their delivery customers. (Not to mention keeping our poor DoorDash delivery driver there for two hours.) read more

I got lunch from here today with a coworker. They have a decent sized menu with a variety of options. Our server was friendly and remained masked. They seemed to be following the COVID-19 precautions. I got the Kafta Kebabs and chose salad and Hummus as my sides. It was very good. They serve a complimentary basket of Pita Bread also. My coworker got the grilled shrimp salad and she liked it as well. The prices are reasonable, too. It's a nice addition to the CBD for sure! read more

Excellent food, excellent service. We try to stop at least once every time we are in town. Our favorite is the half/half shawarma plate with chicken and gyro, hummus and rice. Friendly and inexpensive lunch spot just a block from our hotel. Nice bright and cozy interior with comfy booths and tables We tried the salad with gyro meat and a falafel sandwich and the hummus. Falafel was great- wonderful fresh, warm bread and toppings/pickles. Hummus was outstanding- drizzled in really high quality olive oil and served with warm bread- we loved it. Gyro meat wasn't the traditional shaved meat from a spit. It was sort of julienned into long thin slices. It was tasty but the texture and shape was kind of strange. I don't think I'd order it again. Oh- fries that come with the sandwich were yummy too! Solid stop for decent and inexpensive Mediterranean food. Also, one of the healthier options in the area. read more

Amazing food. We came here in a group of 5 girlfriends. We ordered zatar bread, falafel, red lentil soup for appetizers. We then ordered chicken kebab, vegetarian plate, and sauteed vegetable plate with rice. The kebabs were moist and succulent. The falafels were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The zatar bread was tasty through a tad bit oily. The star of the table was the sautéed vegetables with basmati rice. The serve was funny and prompt. We had a great time and highly recommend this place if you are visiting FQ in NOLA. read more

The folks that work here are the absolute sweetest! Always smiling and you can tell they're proud of the food they make - as they should be because it's delicious! I've never had better grape leaves than I do at Olive, their falafels are also to die for.. not dry at all, almost fluffy inside and the flavor is superb! Unassuming location, but incredible food. Each and every item that we ordered was cooked with love, and tasted as such. We had multiple items on the menu, my dinner, companion and myself shared quite a few items. We left entirely satisfied and full. I would definitely return to Olive next time I'm in New Orleans. It is definitely a must stop. Not as famous as the oyster houses, but needs to be on your list. read more

Stopped by for lunch. Quaint, modern decor. Clean. What really shines here are service and food. We tried chicken shawarma - delicious, light fare, homemade wrap that was thin but still sturdy enough to support delicious, spiced, moist chicken. Also we had lamb gyro - same light wrap with tasty lamb. After our lunch we had Turkish coffee - great, tasted some cinnamon and nutmeg. We also had baklava and kullage - both very tasty! Great prices, very tasty food! Will come again before we leave New Orleans! read more

I went here after reading a ton of good reviews and must say I was pretty darn impressed. Ordered the gyro shawarma plate and hands down this was the best Mediterranean platter I've ever had in my life. I don't say this lightly because Mediterranean food isn't new to me. 1) Fresh ingredients- meat, salad, hummus, even the salad dressing were all freshly prepared 2) Fresh pita bread - not the usual stale bread you get in a plastic bag in most Mediterranean places 3) Very friendly owner and amazing service In a city full of tourist trap restaurants, it was refreshing to eat some amazing food with fresh ingredients. What Willie Mae is to Southern food, Olive is to Mediterranean food in New Orleans. Don't pass this up !!! read more

Summary: excellent food, even better service What we got: Hummus- delicious and not too oily Steak gyro platter- I personally liked the gyro better but my partner preferred the steak. Well seasoned without being overwhelming. The ride was cooked to perfection. It comes with a side of hummus so we were rich in hummus but managed to finish it all nonetheless Ambiance: Causal Service: Excellent. This place is probably one of the best middle eastern restaurants I have been to. Having eaten in a variety of cities in the US- the food is outstanding. I had the kallaya, fattoush and hummus and I couldn't get enough we came back the next day. The food is fresh and the hummus is to die for. We're pretty regular diners at Olive, at least monthly, and every meal has been a delight to the senses. Today, we both had their Lamb Kabob (second time), and it was most delicious. Everyone has already written about the freshness of Olive's food, and we will simply affirm their perception. We also took home a Lamb Burger, for the first time, and consumed half of it for a snack, this evening. It was all we could do to save the rest of it for tomorrow, it was that good. In fact, after eating "most" of the burgers offered in New Orleans, I have proclaimed Olive's THE BEST in town. I was only in town for five days and I stopped here twice. The service was wonderful. Very friendly staff despite being so busy. The restaurant was very clean. I dined in the first time and ordered takeout the second. I ordered the same thing both times, half and half shawarma with chicken and gyro. It comes with a side salad, Hummus, and pita bread. The salad had fresh ingredients and a very tasty dressing. The Hummus was the smoothest Hummus I have ever had. I wish I could buy a while tub of it. The chicken and gyro meat were so tender and flavorful. And as you can see the takeout did not give me any less food. I cannot recommend this place enough. read more

We really wanted to try a dessert but figured it wasn't worth the trouble at that point. I ended up bringing the check to the register myself because she had sat at a table on the other side of the restaurant, talking to two people. She didn't say anything as we paid and left.

Wow, wish they made bread like this at home! By the way, I recommend making a reservation at OpenTable. The red wine 'Cuvee Vincent' Cotes du Rhone 2023 was very smooth, definitely was no $8 retail California table wine. If a dish could be a love letter, this was it. And the World Famous Bananas Foster? Magic! Love the presentation, love the story, and love the taste. You get a whole banana so the portion is good and the coffee helped cut through the sweetness. Vanilla ice cream gave it a nice, clean taste. No danger of a tourist trap here: all in all, Brennan's is absolutely worth the trip!

We wish we knew of this place since the first day we arrived to NOLA. We were tired of fried food and expensive prices. We spent one night trying to be creative on what restaurant could be healthy, affordable, delicious, clean, and beautiful. The Olive restaurant met all of those expectations to a T. First we showed up in the morning for breakfast and those were the best prices I have seen in my life for a good breakfast. The eggs were cooked just right. The owners are the cooks. They are professionals on what they do and super friendly. We were full and ready to go to the aquarium, and we came back to Olive restaurant for lunch. The price goes up a little more, but is still a better price than all the previous restaurants we went and left us wanting. We ordered two Gyro plates and it was enough to feed us and our two small children. The lamb was the best I have had. The Lebanese tea was very refreshing, and they gave us refills which was amazing. However, my entrée (red lentil soup) was pretty basic, and my friend's dish was also just okay. Service was a bit slow, and the space felt a little unkempt, which was surprising since it was a Tuesday night and not busy. Great service and amazing food! Olive served up the best hummus and kafta I've had in years. Even the salad was packed with flavor. I didn't come to New Orleans for Lebanese food, but I'm really happy I ended up stopping in. No pics of the food because I inhaled it. read more

I had Hummus with Feta for an appetize. I had the Lamb Chops, yellow rice, and a salad. My son had the Beef Kabob with yellow rice and a salad. These were the best meals we have ever eaten. A little hidden gem in New Orleans. read more

This place is amazing. I got the half and half chicken and beef and it was delicous. The beef was so tender that it literally melted in your mouth. Mix of beef and lamb. So good, highly recommend. read more
