If you're looking for anything olive related and grown right here im California this is your spot! I couldn't wait to stop in and sample some olives, olive oil and balsamic vinegar since these are staples in our household and we were running low. This place was pretty busy on a Sunday afternoon but there was plenty of room to move around with organized shelves, some cute decor items for sale also. We sampled several different types of olives, my favorite was the bluecheese stuffed. I wished they had more types of olive oil out to sample as only had the regular a butter flavored, but both were tasty. I decided to try a 4 flavor olive oil set for around $30 and am confident all will taste just fine. We walked around and loaded our cart with a variety of olives, olive oil, marmalade, and balsamic vinegar. We already had our hearts set on a different place for lunch but agreed the next time we pass through will try their food as was packed in their dining area.

The complete disappointment of a coupon provided

I've been a loyal customer of the Olive Pit for years, always stopping during my travels between Oregon and California. Over time, I've recommended it to many people because of the quality and consistency I thought they offered. However, my most recent experience has left me incredibly disappointed. On a recent stop, I purchased multiple items, including a bag of honey roasted almonds. Unfortunately, the almonds were completely stale and inedible. I reached out to the Olive Pit, expecting them to make things right. They promised a resolution, and the solution they provided was a $5 off coupon. For a product I paid $11 for that was completely unusable, a $5 coupon is an insult. It doesn't even cover shipping costs for a replacement product. I wasn't asking for anything extravagant, just a simple replacement for the inedible almonds. As a long-time, dedicated customer, this response has completely soured my opinion of the Olive Pit. I've always supported them, but after this, I'll be rethinking how I speak about the Olive Pit to others. If you're a loyal customer who expects your concerns to be handled with care and respect, be prepared for a disappointing experience when things don't go as expected.

On northbound I-5, Olive Pit can't be missed given the large billboards. Rather than stopping at the interstate rest stops, this is the better exit. RV parking available (Enter parking lot from Edith Avenue for better clearance.) with restrooms, gift shop, and snack bar. We primarily shopped at the gift shop and walked out with a bag full of goodies. We've finally made the stop and so glad we did!

To those of you wishing to venturing on California Interstate 5 (southbound from Redding or northbound from Sacramento), I highly recommend checking out the Tehama County city of Corning will you find one its most prominent and visited attractions, the "Olive Pit". Ever since opening their doors back in 1967, thousands of people have walked through these doors to purchase some amazing jars of olives, olive oils, vinegars, garlic, jams, and everything in between. Getting here (from I-5) couldn't be any easier as it is only 1 mile from the interstate. During my visit (which was the afternoon of Sunday 3/9/2025 from 3:45-4:15pm), there was ample parking which made walking up to the main entrance relatively easy. They also offer very large parking spaces for RV's, motorhomes, and big rigs. Normal business hours are every day from 8:00am-5:00pm. Upon entry, there are two dedicated areas where the space is occupied. The "restaurant/cafe" area offers a nice variety of breakfast entrees (served until 11:00am), coffee/espresso, sandwiches, and burgers. However, if you ever get the chance, give their "Signature" shakes a try as they are all infused with their own Olive Pit vinegars as they carry a large variety to choose from. Next time I venture this way, I'll try a vinegar shake to taste as good as people say. As for the main shopping area (think of it as a general store), this is where you can purchase everything to take home. In addition to the items I mentioned (in the first paragraph), they also offer complimentary olive and olive oil tastings. Even though I didn't eat in the restaurant area, I bought several items including Olio Nuovo Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Pomegranate Balsamic Vinegar, and Tomato Preserves Jam. The selection here is quite vast so I would recommend browsing every aisle to find exactly what you're looking for. All in all, "Olive Pit" will win the hearts for people who love everything olive-related. This includes myself as I use it for cooking while being more on the health-conscious side as an upgrade and alternative to canola & vegetable oil. My rating, an above average four stars.

This is a great pit stop off I5 If you are looking for all things olive , a quick snack or a stretch break. I absolutely loved the variety of goodies that they had in their shop. From sweet to savory they have so much to choose from. Definitely make a stop here and pick up local goodies to take home . It is worth the stop!

The service here is excellent. They were so nice, quick, and even brought some samples of other milk shakes for us to try. The milkshake was delicious and if you think an olive oil shake is weird, just try it. It's excellent. The burger was fair, definitely not the best around but it's still good. The tater tots are just frozen ones, so not special. I will go back. The restaurant is nice as well and clean plus you can browse the store and sample olives, olive oil, and olive spreads.

I've passed this place many times on I-5 and I'm so glad I stopped by today. The gift shop was larger than I expected which was a nice surprise. There is a large variety of pickled vegetables, lots of different dips/spreads, balsamic vinegars, olive oils, jarred olives, sweet treats, wine and more. I tried the olive oil and balsamic with some bread when I got home and it's really good quality. The asparagus has a nice spicy kick with a hint of sweetness. The okra is delicious as well. Will definitely be stopping by when I'm passing through the area.

Olive you so much. Or at least I thought I did...this is a store that my boyfriend and his family RAVED about. But while yes they sure do have LOTS of delicious olives, oils, pastas etc the prices...well I couldn't say Olive you to them. There were alot of products there that you can buy at other locations/stores but for a lower price. Yes it's definitely an experience to walk through this large space dedicated to olives and it's a novelty for sure. But I'm at the point where paying for novelty isn't my choice. I'll go where the price AND product are right. Thanks for the experience!

October 8, 2024 Our first time here, but it definitely won't be our last. Wonderful stop to break up a long drive along I-5. Great parking lot with spaces for RVs and trucks. Nice little cafe and gift store filled with olives and other treats. We entered the cafe section and ordered the Muffuletta sandwich to split. (Muffuletta Sandwich - Olive Pit Muffuletta Olive Mix, ham, salami and provolone cheese, served on ciabatta roll, $13.99). We chose to have it heated, rather than served cold. I love how they served it on two plates for us, instead of just cutting it in half on serving it on one. Way extra points for that. We both enjoyed the sandwich and thought it was very good. Now, after lunch, it was time to wander over to the olive section and taste some olives. Oh, wow, so many types to try! Good thing we split that sandwich, the massive olives fill you up quickly. We decided on our favorites, and commenced to shopping. Decided that these olives will make GREAT Christmas gifts, and so ended up buying gift bags, 10 jars of olives, and a jar of pumpkin butter. They also have candies, and chocolates, spreads and tapenades, teas, and more. Found the service to be friendly and the atmosphere to be fun. We won't pass by here again without stopping.

We finally stopped and we are glad we did! Awesome Olive oil, awesome customer service!! We left with a lot. Olive oils, pickled garlic and balsamic vinegars

Garden burger, as it comes off the menu.

Love this place, love the olives and olive oil and shakes! Love the people, love everything about it. First time I have gotten food here..... Not sure if I ordered incorrectly but ordered the garden burger and got a patty with a bun. Apparently it comes with no fixings? Make sure you specify what you want on your sandwich or burger because I bet it is delicious with the fixings.

BLT at a nice sunny table.
    Anne C.

Got the BLT which was good - plenty of crunchy bacon on some whole grain toast, fresh tomato and a decent amount of avocado. But that good sandwich was elevated by an *excellent* condiments bar with a half dozen varieties of olive tapenade and ice cold pickles. Nice job, Olive Pit!

Chocolate shake, gingerbread shake and a muffuletta burger. Superb!
    Kelsey L.

Made a quick pit stop here for a quick break and saw they serve food! You order at the counter and then wait for your number to be called. Quick ordering process and the cashier was very nice. We ordered a chocolate shake and a seasonal gingerbread shake along with a muffuletta burger. The burger and shakes were amazing! The shakes were thick and not extremely sweet. They have a TON of unique flavored shakes (lemon olive oil, blueberry balsamic, cranberry balsamic, etc.) The burger was a great size to share and very flavorful with the muffuletta mix on a soft ciabatta roll. Definitely will be making this my pit stop on the way to visit my friend.

While driving to a retreat at the nearby New Clairvaux Abbey, I saw the gigantic pimiento stuffed olive statue pointing the way to Corning and looked up Nash's Olive Oil. They're open Wednesday's - Friday's from 11 to 5 and I had one day to check it out and try all their olive oils. It was more than worth the trip. Dellene and her husband have been growing, harvesting, and pressing their olive oils since 1997. The olive trees are over 100 years old and the olives for the olive oil must be hand picked because of the old olive trees' size. They are pressed on an olive press imported and hand-picked by Dellene's husband who traveled to Italy. Many viscissitudes can harm an olive harvest, such as wind, fire, too much rain, too little rain, and now, difficlty finding the good pickers and pressers. This last year's harvest was abundant and let's pray this year's is just as if not more! They have three types of plain olive oils along with flavored ones: Manzanillo, Sevillano, and Mission full body. I absolutely loved the peppery Manzanillo the best, but bought the buttery and well-rounded Sevillano as gifts for my pals-- they will love it. I hope you have a chance to taste the beautiful olive oils at Nash's, not just because they are complex, well-rounded, and delicious olive oils, but because they are made by very good people.

--- Picking the right olive ---…read more As you travel up and down I-5 between the Bay Area and Oregon, you'll undoubtedly see the signs for the Olive Pit 3 hrs north of San Francisco. While the Olive Pit has plenty of touristy products and a snack bar, it'd be a loss to miss its lesser known cousin, the Olive Hut. For almost a decade, Corning (which houses both the Olive Pit and the Olive Hut) has been our stopping point on travels through Northern California. We had always passed by the Olive Hut (it's visible just barely from I-5 - see photos) but never stopped in. This last time, on a jog, I got a better look at it and looked it up online. Turns out the Olive Hut is owned by a family farm, La Conda Ranch. The story around the farm is a good one which I'll leave to the reader: http://www.catechnologies.com/LaConda/aboutus.html. We also found the Olive Hut blog (http://www.olivehut.blogspot.com/) where the owner of La Conda Ranch and the Olive Hut has been blogging and posting recipes since 2007. Suffice to say, we knew we had to stop in. Although the Olive Hut is less than 30 seconds from the freeway, it is outside of downtown Corning and off the beaten path. If you take the South Rd exit in Corning (McDonalds, TA, and Jack in the Box), head east to Corning Rd (first light) and take a right. A block or two down, it'll be on the right-hand side at the corner of Viola and Corning Rd. (NOTE: If you're using Google Maps, their formal address (3487 Highway 99W) does not yield the right location. Instead enter in "Old Corning Road and Viola Ave, Corning, CA") Unlike the Olive Pit, most of the goods sold at the Olive Hut are from their own ranch. Olives and olive oil are the main attractions and are almost all from their ranch. (The one exception is a small sampling of olive oils from the Corning Olive Oil company who are friends that help them press their olives.) Their olive oils have won awards which they proudly display on the top shelf of their olive oils. They also sell honey (from Santa Rosa oddly enough), dried fruit, snacks, and have a little deli to boot. They have a sampling bar with honey, olives, and olive oil. It's clean and well put-together without any frills. The girl behind the counter was friendly and helpful without being sales-y. We chatted with her. She explained the different kinds of olives, when they're harvested, how they're processed. They process them right there at the hut! She's not from the Patton family but she does help out when they process the olives. We'd love to come back when they're processing olives some time! The selection is healthy but not overwhelming. We ended up walking out with two jars of olives, three olive oils, and a little wooden gift box with four more olive oils we selected. On a side note, taking a run up Viola, Woodson, or any of the little roads off of Corning Rd is awesome. No cars, lots of groves of olive trees, and cute houses. My Yelp reviews are typically done in bullets but couldn't help raving a little about this place. On to the bullets... + The goods are mostly from their farm. They aren't kidding when they say "Farmer to you." This is so increasingly rare these days. + Doesn't feel like a tourist trap. The store feels like they cleaned out a processing barn for the off-season and setup tables and shelves. + Prices are surprisingly affordable. Which means you can afford to buy a ton while helping the family farm movement. + Helpful and friendly people. - Being off the beaten path, there aren't a lot of stores, shops nearby to browse if you're in to that sort of thing. (I'd highly recommend a walk along the olive groves along Viola or one of the side streets near the Olive Hut). - It's not huge if you're looking for a destination. It'll be at best a half hour stop. - Not a ton of ready-to-eat food options. They have an more extensive kitchen but for some reason, it wasn't operational when we visited.

He must just bring over a large quantity of the bottles and then sells a few of them at the market on a particular Sunday.

He's back! His name is Dennis Town. I saw him today at the Kensington farmer's market. I think…read morehe was a little embarrassed by my enthusiastic response to his return. He told me he hadn't been there for 7 months because he'd run out of olive oil. He has a new batch. It's $9.99 for a 500 ML bottle, still a bargain. I got his card, so I can update his contact information.

Visited May 10 2026. See both receipts as always…read more It was PACKED today for Mothers Day! This is a great stop with a full bar and nice menu. We ordered the chicken fried steak that comes with a couple choices. We picked raviolis and salad. It also included garlic bread. The raviolis are my favorite! Nice seasoning on the dish! We also ordered the cheeseburger with bacon and garlic fries. Their burger bun was alittle dry but the burger itself was tasty. Garlic fries were yummy ( more garlic please!) We had so many leftovers! It's a fun place to go to as they also have a full deli and gift shop. They also serve breakfast. On the way out I got their gelato...walnut brownie I think. They have 2 sizes..one for 3.25 and the bigger size for 7.25. Very good on a hot day! Kid friendly and a must stop!

Stumbled on this spot in Williams and it definitely has a memorable vibe. The decor is hard to miss…read morewith mounted animals all over the walls and even hanging from the ceiling, giving it a rustic, old-school steakhouse feel that makes the experience stand out. This is the place to come for steaks and drinks. The beer flight was a great way to try a variety and was easily one of the highlights. The lemoncello martini leans very sweet, almost like a sugar bomb, so it really depends on your preference. Food-wise, stick to what they do best. The steaks are solid, and this is absolutely a spot to order the prime rib, especially if you catch the Saturday special. On the other hand, the shrimp scampi was underwhelming and pretty basic, with shrimp that could have used more seasoning. Do not skip the gelato counter. The pistachio and peanut butter gelato are a must. Overall, a fun, casual spot with a unique atmosphere. Come for the steaks and beer, skip the seafood pasta and save room for gelato.

Only prefer the late harvest and broke down and ordered 2 gallons this year. I wrote to tell them that it tastes terrible and not at all what I have had in the past. Even asked if the W or M on the top of the bottle meant it was Mid-season. and not late harvest. Was told it was an in-house mark and did not indicate season. The customer service is terrible and they don't seem to care.

HOWEVER, this year I ordered, they charged me, and according to the tracking service they recommend to their customers, they have, after 3 weeks, not bothered to send my order. I was charged $176 on July 17th and as of August 5 it still has not been shipped, even though their site says they shipped on July 18th. I do not know what has happened to their business, but the service is now horrible and I would never recommend this business. Disappointing to say the least, and as they will not return my phone calls, I am not likely to get a refund for my very pricey olive oil. Shame on you, Chaffin Family Orchards!!!!
