Vic advised the carpet price per square foot included Carpet, Pad and installation. I discussed that we would remove the old carpet and leave the tack strips. The company sent out a third party to measure the job (64.67 sq yards). Boy was I shocked when I saw the written estimate sent to me ( attached below ). $4848.84 which included up charges for measuring the job, $102.59; 2 up charges for installation, $895.27 and $723.71 and new tack strips $233.17. ( so much that these were suppose to be included). Went back to store and spoke to Dina the manager who said those up charges shouldn't be shown on the estimate, they were for internal use only. She redid the estimate (attached below) not showing the up charges and reduced the cost by about $500 ( so much for clear honest pricing on the new estimate). As a retired 30+ year contractor I had an idea for about how much the job should cost ( around $3000 ). I left the store and went to Carpet Outlet , Dundee Road; Palatine. (40 years same Location). Spoke to Jim the owner and gave me an estimate for same quality pet resistant carpet from Mohawk with stain and wear warranty: for $2800 give or take a $100 after the measurement on this Monday (no charge for measurements). Beware on your purchases and check around for pricing. Don't be fooled.

I had already received a quote from a local handyman that was double Kashian's so I knew it was fair and I had seen Kashian's work in a neighbors home. We were able to schedule a date based on my preferences and was quoted 5-8 days to complete the job. The installers were extremely careful moving our existing furniture and worked efficiently. If you live through flooring installation you know it is a loud and disruptive process but they tried to work in a way that was least disruptive. They also took care with the stain application & did the best job possible to preserve our moldings and carefully added shoe molding to the rooms with new hardwood. They matched the floors perfectly and the finished project was completed within the time promised. Furniture was moved back exactly as it was before the project. And the process is truly dustless. I was expecting residual dust but they took the time to clean everything! We also had a rug cleaned during the process and it came back looking great. Overall we were extremely pleased with Kashian.

He was very warm and personable (he recommended a lunch spot nearby that is now one of our favorites in the area!) He walked through all the details with us, gave us a bunch of advice (not in an overbearing way all though - which I'm sensitive to), and made sure we were getting exactly what we wanted. Getting the work done: I was able to text Brian throughout and he texted to check to make sure things were going well, which was helpful. The project manager for the crew was on top of things and made sure everything was being done to our expectations. A team came first to rip out the old floor and then the installation crew came to level the floor and install carpet and hardwood. They paid attention to all the details and gave me options (with pricing) when they found unexpected issues in our new house. Everything was done on time and as expected. The quality of the installation was excellent - corners were sharp, no gaps or issues with the hardwood, carpet was installed really well, etc. The only concern I had was that the flooring people didn't take the molding they had to rip out/replace, which should have been thrown out; Brian had them take care of that after I reached out about the problem, so the issue was resolved (though it would have been nice if the crew had taken all the molding without me needing to intervene). Vibes: Brian, our sales rep / account manager, was wonderful. The crew was fine; they left toilet seats up in bathrooms when they left which isn't the end of the world but is a personal pet peeve and it made me feel like they didn't treat my house with full respect. Otherwise they were very orderly and cleaned up each day after leaving. Cost: Pricing was all competitive with other companies I considered. Overall: I'll likely be hiring them again! They're better than any other flooring company I've hired, and I've hired a few in the last 5 years.

America's Flooring Store came up in our search so we had nothing to lose coming here. First, it is 1000% worth the drive out here. They have so many beautiful selections to choose from. After we shared our style with Lisa, she immediately pulled a few options. I'm not over exaggerating when I say they were all perfect. Both my husband and I leaned towards the same one as our favorite! Lisa really listened which I feel is so rare these days, and made the ordering process a breeze. Our tiles came in quickly in about a week. One of the tile sadly was cracked right down the middle which happens. Nobody can control what happens in shipping, and Lisa immediately took care of this and got replacements! We will never go anywhere else for flooring and will refer all our friends and family here. They provided the itemized estimate/invoice, which is what we look for in contracted jobs. Check. And they were coherent in their emails, which is also a plus. It's nice to be able to physically walk into a location and talk to someone there. We are still on the contract stage but we liked what we see so far, even tho the price is a bit higher than other ones we've got. However, they seem to not have seen a contract before which is a bit surprising to us. We are waiting to see if their big boss agree with what we had down in paper, which protects both parties. I will update if we both decide to move forward with the job. Update: GFS responded to us saying they don't want to sign the contract. This kinda makes us raise an eye brow, because our generic AI drafted contract is super reasonable. Stuff like if there are any changes, it has to be communicated in writing. I don't get why. I think their refusal to agree in writing really makes us worry and doubt their reliability... we ain't about to drop $20k when there's no reassurance! Most of you know that's not always the case. Second, he came for the estimate on time. Again, not a sure thing. The third point is not the fair estimate as you would expect. I had no basis to compare since NO OTHER company was willing to hand-sand the stair "risers" - the vertical part. It had not occurred to me that it would be an issue but it is. But the price was reasonable. So, the guys came on time and four days later the staircase looks amazing. Any wood refinishing creates dust but they really kept it to a minimum and cleaned up everyday. I will definitely use them again to refinish my oak floors too.

I discovered the floor showing warping or curving up at seams in December 2022 under the kitchen table. Obviously the seams pushing up/ moving like that does not happen over night. I took photo. After sending online contacts through their website, calls, and text, then on 4/15/23, the text sent in past reads, "Again, I am chasing you for help on the floor installed." It goes on a bit more. Towards end reads, " I am surprised by the lack of time and attention and communication." He text, "I will talk to you on Monday afternoon." He didn't. He didn't any of the times I reached out.
