I've heard great things about this place and how their "goddess treatment" is absolutely fantastic. What girl doesn't like being pampered and cleaned up? So for our anniversary, the bf sent me here to be pampered. First impression, the place is overrated. Yes when you walk in the hallway looks pretty nice, but the more steps you take, the more "ghetto" it gets, not saying the place is dirty or old or anything like that, just saying the pictures look WAY better online than in person. Olympic Spa isn't too big I must say. Although I've only gone to WiSpa, so don't really have much to compare to, but I'd say I would much prefer WiSpa over this. But of course, Olympic Spa IS known for their "goddess treatment", what I'm here for. The Goddess package is $130 plus gratuity. Not exactly cheap I know, but you gotta pay the price to look good (; For this treatment, you must go in at least half an hour earlier to soak up so it's easier for them to buff you up after. Had I known I wouldn't be able to go back into the water after my treatment, I would have gotten there an hour earlier. My lady's name was Noh. She was amazing. Not only was she nice and friendly, she knew exactly what she was doing. Her buffing strength was perfect so that I didn't feel like I was being skinned to bones alive, and her oil massage was so good I almost melted. I think she's the reason why I gave a 4 star instead of 3. Another plus here is that they have a "Angelica Tub", which they did not have at WiSpa. It's basically brewed from tea leaves and suppose to be super cleansing and reviving. Definitely stayed in that one for awhile. Although the rest of the tub area was not big at all, and there weren't many showers that's for sure. So, if you're a spoiled brat like me and like big fancy places, I'd say try a different place. But if you're looking for treatment and just to have a good time, then this could be your spot! read more

I got the Goddess treatment and loved it! You should get there at least 45 minutes before your appointment to have time to use the saunas, steam rooms and pools. My favorite was the black tea pool and the Himaylan salt room. At first I was a bit shy cuz no bikinis are allowed . They give you a robe & a towel. They give you a key that you carry around your wrist with your number that opens both private lockers they give u. . One for your shoes and the other for your clothes & personal belongings. You have fun using the facilities then they come and get you After you get the goddess treatment you feel like a million bucks! I'm going back for sure! I almost don't want to write about my favorite esthetician of all time because I feel like she is one of the best kept secrets in LA. And this is coming from someone who was in the spa industry for 10 years and has had the best and most renowned therapists throughout LA for massages and facials. I had adult acne. Spent at least two thousand of dollars on different facial clinics, spas, facial products, doctors, and dermatologists. I was actually told it was hormonal and incurable. But then a friend told me ab this gem hidden inside the Olympic Spa named Anne. She fixed me after 3 visits. Hope was restored. Acne gone. And 10 years later I still talk about her and go see her. i got the shiatsu here. i wish they made people wear swimsuits cuz i personally get a little self conscious when i see naked people just chilling. i dont know what it is. sometimes it's the fact that these naked people are cleaning themselves in a way that i question whether or not we are civilized human beings or if we still live in the stone age. I was thoroughly unimpressed with this spa, especially after I had just gone to Wi spa a few weeks ago. This place is a lot smaller than WI spa, and their staff nowhere near as accomodating. I wish that the staff had given me a general description of the layout of the place upon arriving (ex: where the lockers are/ which rooms are were) It's a small place, and this would have only taken a minute or two. I really liked the Himalayan salt bath, the heated Jade floor, and the Mugworts bath! I also really enjoyed the fact that this was a woman's only spa. This means nakedness throughout the entire spa, not just the jacuzzi! It's so nice not having to be self conscious about what I'm wearing. The biggest con for me is just how small this spa is in comparison to WI Spa. This would have been a fine downgrade in size if entry was only $15. Chipped / missing tiles, wet floors, naked ladies of all ages, shapes and sizes. This place screams of authenticity. Amenities include Steam Room, Dry Sauna, Mugwort Bath, Jet Bath, Cold Bath, Warm Oxygen Stone Room, and a Jade Sleeping Room with heated floor. I was so looking forward to the mega scrub down so many people have Yelped! about, but as a walk-in, I would have had to wait more than 3 hours. Popular? So instead I headed to the baths to soak my cares away. Hopping from bath to bath, room to room, hot to cold, I emerged 2.5 hours later in a noodle like state. The best $15 I've spent in a long time. There is definitely bathhouse etiquette that should be followed for everyone's comfort and enjoyment. Here are a few examples: **Shower between each of the baths and steam room/ sauna. Nobody wants to bathe in your sweaty water. **Silence is golden. People are here to relax, not hear about your date last night. **Keep track of your towel. Don't mistakenly pick up mine, wipe your face with it, realize it's not yours and then hang it back up. Yuck! **Don't sit Indian-style on the floor with all of your business hanging out. Have a little modesty, nobody but your waxer should have to see that much of your va-jay-jay. read more

I came here for a simple soak on a whim (already did a spa treatment somewhere else earlier in the week) and I was blown away by the cleanliness of the facilities. The lockers are spacious enough to store two bags of crap I drag around everywhere with me. Since it was a Friday morning, it wasn't that crowded at all. I enjoyed soaking in all the spas and soaking in some hot hot heat in the sauna, steam, and clay rooms. Olympic Spa also has a lot of non-Koreans. Good to know these spas attract a wide audience! I'm definitely going to come back here for a spa treatment. Can't wait to try out the other Korean spas to see how they stack up next to Olympic--especially Natura and Crystal Spa since those two have comparable ratings and prices. read more

One of the best spa treatments I ever had. This was def a new experience for my shy self. Being completly naked among dozens of other woman, no one caring it was kinda liberating. I had the facial with a foot massage. 2 ladies workin on me at once. They undress u, lay u down, pamper you and then dress you again. I left feeling stoned, I mean I literally had to pull over and let my friend drive on the way home. That treatment was a little intense that woman hit every acupuncture point on my feet and hit em hard. I def reccomend a facial but tell her to go ez on those feet if u are sensitive on those kidney and Urinary Bladder points ( all on the feet). The mugwort bath was devine. Such an awesome place! I usually go to Burke Williams, but this place easily topped my experiences there. Pros: -Separate locker for clothes and shoes -Clean robes -Quiet -Water and tea available for free -Chill restaurant where you can eat while sitting in your robe and bare feet -Massage was amazing! First time a masseuse stepped on my back and used different techniques than the normal massage at a normal spa. -Encouraged to shower between everything you do -Toilet seats are heated and have squirters Cons: -Jacuzzi, and other tubs are pretty small. I'm a huge fan of the Asian bath house! Well here in the West! The main one I frequent is spa palace, but I thought I would try something new. Well I'm disappointed with Olympic spa. It's EXTREMELY small compared to the other. No privacy and full trash cans everywhere. The lockers are on top of another and if there are more then 5 women in the space, it's tight! Spa palace has 3floors for 25 bucks, pools, multiple Jacuzzis, massage chairs, bar, sauna rooms, cafe and services. This place has one floor, two very small Jacuzzis ( 4 people uncomfortably), only twocommon areas one which includes the cafe. No common large spaces for relaxing with women all around you. Not my idea of relaxing, but I paid my money so I will make the most of it!! Go to spa Palace! read more

I love this place. My first visit was about 6 months ago and I've been back at least once a month since. Great quality, peaceful, and very clean. The staff are polite and very helpful. I love the salt room, heated jade floor, and mugwart bath. I always leave feeling so mentally and physically refreshed. A huge plus is that there is a Korean restaurant inside as well. This is a very basic Korean spa without all the bells and whistles of the newer spas but it's got character. It's an oldie but a goodie. I've gone twice for their body scrub and it's been a great experience. The front desk is very friendly and professional. It's not crowded. It's clean. A caveat - I have nothing against which to base my review as comparison. This is my first Korean Spa experience. And it was mighty fine. I got scrubbed, and hosed, and I don't know what that lady used to wash my hair, but my hair has NEVER been so silky and shiny and lovely. So that was Awesome. Because my hair looks terrific. But, see, I didn't go here for my hair. I went here because I have a lot of dry skin and scaly patches from acne treatment. On my face, my chest, and neck. And my feet are super dry. So scrub THOSE areas, lady! I pointed them out as problem areas going into the scrub, but she gave my belly a ton of attention, and very little to my feet, jaw, and cheeks (on my face) where the real issues are. So that was a bummer. Also the tea tub was WAY too hot. It was super hot when we arrived, and I wanted to take a second dip into it after the sauna, but I couldn't even get one foot in there. No one was in that tub because of the high temperature. Sort of defies the point, no? But I like a safe quiet space for women to just get their schvitz on. And for $15 I'd probably return. Maybe if someone had a reccomendation for a truly diligent scrubber I'd be tempted to shell out again for the job. read more

A lot of my friends are wary about coming here. "I couldn't stand to be naked around a bunch of women who are hotter than me!" Well, chances are you're not going to. I didn't, and I'm not even close to being a supermodel. As everyone else has noted, the clientele largely consists of Korean women, with a handful of Anglos, a Russian or two and a couple of women who've come up from Little Ethiopia for the day. (At least, that was the demographic when I went.) Yes, the spa is bare-bones and no-frills, and has ambiance just slightly above that of an Eastern European nudist women's gulag. But it's got a steam sauna, a dry sauna, an "oxygen" sauna, a hot tub, an even hotter mugwort tub, and a cold tub to plunge yourself into when all that heat is too much. The only treatment I can speak to personally is their basic $30 exfoliating scrub. For that $30, I got exfoliated to within an inch of my life, VERY thoroughly and ALL over. (You'd better be pretty comfortable with your own body, because if you have any issues with someone accidentally bumping into your crotch during a treatment like that, you're gonna totally freak.) My skin is softer than it's been since I moved to LA! On the downside, I think she hit a spot in the center of my back a little too aggressively, because for about two days I felt sunburnt just there. But I'm a tough girl! I survived. I'm sure there are other spas that are more chic and stylish. But I can't afford those, so it's Olympic Spa for me! read more

I hadn't had a massage in a while and I too get tired of the gentle hand and heavy pricetag of Burke Williams. I had some back aches and really just wanted a no frills massage. This is what you get at Olympic Spa. For aching back, blockage and overall aches, I recommend Tina and the Zone Perfect massage. She was very thorough covering every inch of my body from head to toe. She took my recommendations on specific areas to focus on. Get there early, bring cash for tips and give yourself extra time to take advantage of the hot tub, jade stone steam room, mugworts hot tea tub warm oxygen stone floor. plan on being naked. my massage was in a private room. but if you are getting other services like facials and exfoliation, you will be out in the middle of where the tubs are and you will be on the table naked. for me it felt relaxing, liberating and freeing. i am going back to get the perfect bliss. can't wait. read more

I love the Olympic Spa. Nothing foo foo laa laa, just good services, clean, cheap, and the right amount of non-pretentious actual magic. I love the mugwort bath (especially when its extra hot). Go back and forth between the mugwort and cold dip, its difficult at first, but soooo good. There is also a medium hot tub, a beautiful dry sauna, a jade steam room, oxygen stone room and a hot marble floor to sleep on when you are done. I don't know too much about the wet scrubby washing services (I did it once and it was nice), but I love the Shiatsu, usually getting a combination of "shoulder relief" and reflexology. Here's a tip---if your massage costs more that $75, you get the spa for free (usually $15), so if there is a time when you want 80 min of goodness, its not all that much more than 50 min. My favorites in Shiatsu land (a.k.a. my korean girlfriends) Jenny is magicy (I see flecks of light when she works on me) and she will tell you about your alignment sometimes. Lisa is brutal in a GOOD way. The sort of suffering that leads to the end of suffering. However, sometimes its best to just trust the universe and see who you get. read more

Every visit to Olympic Spa has been incredible. I'm a fan of going later in the evening because it's a little less busy. Choi, damn that woman is magical and friendly. I always get the Pure Bliss package and it has a lot of bang for the price. The only thing I don't like is that the tea bath is often too hot. Scalding even. This week I was able to get in no problem but a few weeks earlier I couldn't get in past my waist. Things sure aren't what they used to be. Firstly I do commend Olympic on updating their spa area. Gone are the 70's era YMCA tiles and in its place is a nice muted faux marble look. They have also added bidet topped toilets in the ladies for that "extra clean" feeling. That's the good news. Maybe it was the fact I was there on a Saturday evening and the ladies that chose to share the spa space with me were substituting the cocktail hour for some spa time but man, it was loud in there. Not only loud but combative at one point actually. There was one lady who was doing stretching exercises in the charcoal/oxygen room and it was pretty crowded. Get this picture in your head folks - a naked lady, stretching in a small room, limbs a flyin'. A new lady comes in to sit down and partake and she very politely tries to find space. Stretching naked lady rolls out in a huff, slamming the door. Nice spa ambiance. I come back into the room after my treatment and said lady is in there again, now being passive aggressive to a young lady who was in there chatting it up with her friends. Yipes. Yep, I would say I am dropping Olympic stars due to two things - although the look is much more updated they are not doing a darn thing about the noise level and I guess people don't respect the idea of using their "inside voices" while in an echoing room together. The second star loss goes to my actual treatment. Yes these ladies are still pretty much the best in the business. But with all these great reviews comes more business (dontcha love the way Yelp works?) and now instead of feeling loved and taken care of I am scrubbed, rubbed, smacked and on to the next one! I definitely felt like my treatment was hurried and lacked any personal care. Combine that with the constant droning of noise from "cocktail hour" and I left less peaceful and relaxed than I usually do. It saddens me to drop Olympic because I love love their treatment rooms and tubs, they are the perfect temperatures and I do feel like they are great for the skin. I love love the technique the women use for the scrub and massage. I may sound old fashioned but back in da day you could go there and have a quiet hour (or two or three) of reflection and kinship with your fellow woman and get a great as-close-to-authentic treatment as possible. Ok, so I've done the Simple Soak here a few times and from the moment I walked in, I knew that this was not the typical "spa" I was used to. There are no fancy schmancy decorations nor are there soothing water sounds playing over the speaker system (heck, I don't even think they have a speaker system). However, based on the reviews I read, and my dire need for a detox ritual, I decided to brave it and get naked with the other ladies. My favorites are the mugworts soak, and saunas. The mugworts is really hot, but I feel like that temperature helps with the detox and keeps the germs at bay. Alternating with the mugworts and the cold tub makes you feel amazing! So yeah, for $15 I think it's well worth it. But the real reason for this review, is I had my first Pure Bliss treatment yesterday. As I mentioned before, this is not your typical spa, so don't expect the royal treatment. You lay down on some table with other naked ladies in the same room, and are basically treated like a piece of meat. However, when you get out, you are the most tenderized, and refreshed piece of meat!! I'm convinced I have to do this at least once a month now... read more

Coming to this place has become a necessity since I first started coming two years ago. The owners recently remodeled the inside of the wet room so now there's more areas for bathing and exfoliating, new tiles all over, and a skylight from which steam pours out from the ceiling. (The wet room was always clean but before the remodel, it looked a bit run-down.) If you're interested in coming here, just get over the fact that everyone here (except for the wet room ladies wearing black bras and panties) will be naked. It's just the way bath houses are run in Korea, and so you have to be naked to use their wet room facilities. If being naked in front of strangers who aren't going to care that you're naked is too much, then stick with Burke Williams and other more European/American style spas. One of the great features of Olympic Spa is the Oxygen Room. I don't know how this feature works, but it's a heated room filled with charcoal wood that induces you to sweat without making you feel overheated. Basically, all the hot rooms (the steam room, the dry heat room, the Oxygen Room) induce you to sweat and get rid of toxins so they're all pretty hot and strong. Not all Korean spas have rooms that really make you sweat, so Olympic spa really delivers on this aspect. Another thing I love about Olympic spa are the heated marble floors. After a nice meal at the mini restaurant (run by an older, sassy Korean matron), I like to pass out on the heated marble floor for a nap. They provide pillows and blankets, and despite all the background noise of women blowdrying their hair and other stuff happening in the locker area, you always manage to fall asleep. My normal routine is to purchase the $15 simple soak and add on an akasuri scrub for $30 which includes a hair shampoo and rinse. If I really want to splurge, I add on a facial for $60, but only toward the end of my visit since I can't use the wet room with all the facial products on my face. Now that I live in San Diego, I try and visit Olympic spa every 3 months or so. I can't imagine getting through the year without it. Some people criticize this place for being less authentic because there are more non-Koreans frequenting it than Koreans. I've been to some of the other places that young Korean women frequent --- they're a little more upscale and expensive. Olympic spa is one of the original Korean spas so I think the younger women think of it as the spa their grandmothers go to. And a lot of older Korean women do frequent this spa during the weekday. Not bad, but I feel like I've been spoiled by Crystal Spa. I liked the friendly staff, free parking, the mugwort tea pool, and the oxygen therapy hot room. The space with the pools and hot rooms does feel crowded, though, and the amenities, though clean, are just OK (eg. the lotion smells/feels cheap, the "mats" for the sleeping area are thin, and some of the drains were clogged with hair (ew!). I wish I could combine all of the best aspects of each spa since they all have good and bad points. Parts of this spa are better than any of the others, some are definitely not as good, but for the most part this spa is ok. Looks like they have slowly been doing renovations and making improvements. Here's my breakdown: Pros: - Best infrared/oxygen room. Very quiet relaxing, hot. - The cold pool is the best temp of any of the cold pools I've been in. It's cold vs. freezing which is great since a dip in the cold pool is a necessity. - Nice sitting room - Nice restaurant space, high ceilings, good food, fresh fruit drinks. - Great salt room. Cons: - The pool room itself is small and dingy. This is the biggest problem - which could be partially fixed if they hung a nice chandelier under the prison-like sky light. - The tea bath is nice and hot (though small), but the regular spa is only lukewarm (and small). So if you like a hot soak, options are limited. - worst facial ever. The woman practically beat me up. I've had Korean scrubs and love them, but a facial should be relaxing. My face did not feel great afterwards and I was actually worried about bruising! Go to Wi spa for the facials. Another aspect of this spa which is neither bad nor good, is that the majority of the visitors are did not seem to be Korean. (vs. other spas that feel more culturally Korean) but it could have just been the day I was there. It was a definite mix of people and I ended up having a nice conversation with 6 women in the crowded tea bath. We shared our opinions on all the spas. Generally at the spas no one says much, so it was a nice change. However, sometimes I like feeling like a stranger in a strange land. I'd go back for sure, but might try some others first, since I seem to be doing a tour of L.A. Korean spas. read more

After doing some research, I decided to try out Olympic Spa a few weeks ago after having recently been dumped by a long term love. I was tired of crying and ready to try to pick things up again and thought what better way than to sweat naked and get a good scrubbin? So sitting around naked for hours isn't your way of getting over things? Well alternating one of their three saunas with showers, hot tubs, and of course the gaspingly cold cold tub really helps to get out the toxins. Maybe it's psychological, but it felt . . . .appropriate. Then off to the intense scrub down where I closed my eyes and someone else scrubbed off every last piece of dead skin, leaving a new me. No, Olympic Spa didn't fix my broken heart, but was definitely a good step in figuring out life on my own, sans clothes and all. read more

I am a big fan of Korean-style day spas. I like the female body-positive culture and I love the affordable price ($15 for a simple soak = all access to the pools, steam room, sauna, showers, and hot stone meditation room). Olympic is ideal for long overdue, hushed catch-up conversations with a girlfriend or for some solo pampering after a long day or week at the office. The no cell-phone rule is strictly enforced and it seems like everyone enjoys the quiet hush of the atmosphere equally. There are three pools - one mugwort pool (hot tea that is good for the body and good for the soul), one hot pool, and one cold pool. The mugwort and hot pool are hot-tub style size and shape. The cold pool is a little larger and much deeper, so you don't have to hunch over to submerge up to your shoulders. There is also a steam room, a sauna, and a hot rocks room. While Olympic is smaller than other Korean spas I have been to, I like the intimate feel and the fact that it is women only. Saturdays tend to get crowded fairly early, but weeknights are generally pretty quiet. In addition to the simple soak they also have a variety of facials, scrubs, and massages available for an additional fee and on most days (with the exception of Saturdays and maybe Sundays) it is usually pretty easy to get a same day appointment for an additional service. I usually go for the simple soak, but I have had one facial. Overall, I would say the facials at Olympic are less expensive than others I have seen at some of the more traditional LA-style spas and I was very pleased with mine. You've all already said it ... You pay $15 to use the facilities all day long - and they have a HOT hot tea pool (where else do you find that?). You only need to get the whole-body scrub like once a year in order to remain entirely exfoliated. The sweet Korean ladies are uber strong, and they catch you if you start to slide off the soapy, slippery bathing table. My favorite spa in LA. Feel like a reborn new angel afterwards. Relaxation massage, Korean scrub, manipedia...yesyesyes! Also the food in the resto is super fresh and tasty. If you want to spoil yourself this is a go to heaven. Super clean! Only minus is the calling out of the numbers all around the spa, for the booked appointments. This can be disturbing. You will definitely be treated like a piece of laundry being beaten over a rock in an asian river! Lol... I like it! :-) Meaning, you will be exfoliated like never before and like someone else said, be begging for others to "touch you". Entrance fee is (or was) $15 which includes all natural steam/sauna rooms (I believe there are at least 3 diff ones), cold pool, tubs, tea bath, showers, etc. Services are very reasonable and if you are open to new experiences (and you are not shy) then definitely get one of them. During your service nothing is personal, even when they accidentally brush your special button (wish it was intentional).. lol Try it and see if you can handle it. :-) The only negative would be the decor. I feel like if they tricked the place out and did the modern LA thing it would be amazing. But I guess then the prices would go up and it would be too crowded. Naked, Asian and fabulous! They will scrub you down til your epidermis screams "UNCLE!" Okay, I wimped out and got the milky scrub...but next time I will get the regular scrub and ask "please go around the nipples." No clothes allowed. Strictly! But everyone is REALLY cool! My suggestion is to get there an hour before any scheduled appointment because there are 4 different rooms to enjoy: steam room, sauna, oxygen room, and the soupy dark-brown hogwarts hot tub. This place is very Asian...so as any authentic Asian place is....customer service is not great. Don't get me wrong, they are accommodating, but it's just a cultural thing. They lie you on a plastic table top like a slab of meat and literally hose you down. They rub and scrub like a marathon carwash...it's as untherapeutic as you can get. Every so often my therapist asks "It's ok?" In their opinion, that's good customer service! For $15 bucks you get access to all the spas. Add on $35 and up and you get services that last up to 2 hours! Talk about a budget spa day. The barley tea is beanie delish and the warm napping floor is soooo great! My girlfriends and I detoxed for about 2 days afterwards so watch your intake of alcohol, caffeine, sugar, and drink plenty of water. I highly recommend this place for the experience! read more
