    The Nigerian
    Monica H.

Olympic has the best subs in Delaware! The bread was fresh, meat was plentiful! My husband and I have been twice since a friend recommended we try them. During our first visit we met Nick the owner. Had a very pleasant conversation about family businesses. Staff was very friendly and patient during our first visit. We will be stopping by anytime we are in Wilmington. You must try the Nigerian!! My favorite sandwich. Many menu items to choose from so it will take a while to try it all. The onion rings looked very tempting, so I will have to try them along with some old bay wings during my next visit.

I'm still not sure about this cheesesteak. It had a sneaky good amount of meat and a sneaky lot of grease/oil. The fried onions were much hotter than the meat which at times was very uncomfortably for my mouth. $17.75 for the combo and it was definitely big enough to share. Plenty of tables and a bathroom. I know the tots came from a food supplier and Olympic just deep fried them but they were good tots and plenty of them.

Easily one of the best sandwich shops in Wilmington Delaware. I have been coming here for years and their hoagies are always consistent and never disappoint. You can get your sandwich in a variety of sizes and with your choice of accompaniments at no extra charge except for hot peppers. Now not everyone does a corned beef hoagie. It's definitely one of my favorites especially when the meat is so beautifully lean (see photo below) and not chocked full of gristle and scraps (like some other place I know-looking at you Sciarrinos). This large hoagie cost me 12.85 and will easily feed me twice. A winner, hands down.

This is a pretty good sandwich place. Nothing fancy but good sandwiches. I had a small cheesesteak. It was a little dry but not bad. The old bay fries I got were a nice touch though practically all of their ketchup bottles were empty. My aunt got the pastrami which I enjoyed a lot more. She complained that that was dry too but it tasted good to me. The onion rings were huge but the batter was not tasty. Service was good, staff here seems to care about what they do. Not awesome but I would go back.

There was a time, when Olympics was our first stop when visiting. My favorite and to me the best cheesesteaks in the area. The last two times have been the worst. This afternoon the service took a little longer but we patiently wanted to enjoy our favorite dishes, however I got mushroom cheesesteak that was lacking everything, especially the love. The meat, onions and mushrooms are usually overflowing were you can't even close the roll. This was like a where's the beef experience? I didn't have time to express my dissatisfaction because I needed to get back to work to pay for this undelightful sub. I'm not willing to give them another visit, however I will give them 3 instead of a 1 for all the years of great food and attentive service. The service was still great but the food was definitely lacking.

I've never been disappointed since childhood. Great food. Pretty good prices. Only issue is prices are never stable.

The service is getting slower. I understand being patient but not when its five cooks on the grill. I think the space is too small and they don't have room to maneuver properly??

This is a small?! The Nigerian.

I will say I took a star off for the steak, I've been to a few of the big ones in Philly and I'm not sure this place is up to par but it's good and the side dishes....omg phenomenal. I literally dream about the salad and carrots. Amazing flavors! The service is good, can be hit or miss depending on the day but I feel like that's anywhere in Wilmington. Overall, I recommend to those who haven't been or someone looking for a good meal in Wilmington. Don't skip those side dishes though! They are truly the stars of the show.

The drinks including a glass of wine and martini were good. The baked bread appetizer came with a frozen piece of butter. If you make a compound butter, it usually tastes better room temperature. 5 minutes after the bread arrived, the Caesar salad arrived. No salad plates were provided. Within 1-2 minutes after salad was delivered, the steaks arrived. I don't mind salad with my meal if it's part of the culture of the restaurant. However, at most steakhouses where I've been, the salad is a separate course served prior to the main course. The steaks ordered were the bone in strip and the filet. Both steaks were heavily over salted. We ordered the béarnaise sauce and the French onion butter as toppings, and both were unremarkable. The roasted potatoes side dish was delicious as was the salad. The ambiance of the restaurant is great. It's a shame the seasoning for the food and the presentation and timing of the food delivery aren't better controlled.

What didn't do it for me at Snuff Mill: (1) The aged NY strip was just ok; I've had more tender steaks at random chains. (2) None of my 3 cocktails was a homerun. (3) Seems like the reservation system is deliberately wonky (nothing available online for the day I wanted but no problem when I phoned). (4) I've had better meals for half and even one-third the price. Service was professional and attentive. The dining room size is small and might inhibit conversation, but you'll be fine once the alcohol kicks in. I would certainly go back--there were lots of other things on the food and drink menu that looked good--but probably not anytime soon. Whereas I would gladly go back to La Fia and La Fête tomorrow.

The attendees all complimented on how wonderful it turned out. I met with Joe, the owner, who called me back immediately and met with me the same day. He was incredibly accommodating and I picked from one of their funeral reception packages but customized it by adding several more items. He even offered to stream the kind of music I wanted in the background. Because the restaurant doesn't open until late afternoon we had the restaurant to ourselves so parking was easy and there were no distractions. The food was displayed beautifully but more importantly it tasted good. Tyler, the bar manager, had a great personality and when not making drinks walked around clearing tables and offering to get people drinks since it was an older crowd. All in all, if you are looking for a place to hold an event I highly recommend The Marshallton. I thought it was priced reasonably and they really delivered. Planning an event like this isn't easy -- there's so much weight to it, wanting every detail to honor someone you love -- and this team made that possible in a way I'll always be grateful for. The decor in the room was beautiful. Soft draping along the ceiling, a gorgeous chandelier, candlelight, and floral centerpieces on every table -- it felt warm and intimate, like the space itself was wrapping its arms around all of us as we gathered to remember her. Seeing my mom's photo up on the screens around the room, surrounded by family and friends sharing stories, laughter, and tears, is something I'll never forget. The service that night was incredible. The staff moved through the room with such care, making sure everyone felt looked after, but never once making it feel like just another event. The bartenders, especially, brought such an open, easygoing energy -- they were so fun to be around, and they helped lighten the mood in a way that let us laugh and celebrate my mom's life, even amid the grief. Looking back, that mix of comfort and joy meant so much. The food was super delicious too, and in moments like this, even small things -- a warm meal, a kind smile, a drink poured with a little extra care -- mean far more than people realize. I have to give a heartfelt and BIG shoutout to Amanda, the event coordinator/manager. She was an absolute sweetheart, and her calm, caring presence made it possible for our family to actually be present in the moment instead of worrying about logistics. She made sure everything -- from the setup to the TVs and microphones working perfectly for the tributes -- ran smoothly, and her thoughtfulness didn't go unnoticed by any of us. Hosting something this meaningful in a space that felt this beautiful, with people this kind, made all the difference on one of the hardest days. I am endlessly grateful to Amanda, the bartenders, and the entire team at Tonic for helping us celebrate my mom's life with so much love. I can't recommend this venue enough!!

The skin was rendered and so crunchy AND meat was so tender. Was sitting in a perfect lemony sauce, served with super crunchy potatoes. Also, the staff was so personable and attentive. Since I showed up around 4pm, the restaurant was pretty empty - it wasn't lunch time but it wasn't dinner time yet. I took a seat at the bar and ordered a glass of wine, their bistro salad (chopped greens, cucumbers, vine-ripened tomatoes, feta, red onion, and red wine vinaigrette), and agnolotti (ricotta and herb-filled agnolotti, crispy pancetta, English peas, and Parmigiano-Reggiano). The wine was nice, and the food was quite good overall. The salad was simple, and the pasta was good, too. AJ at the bar was great - he was new (he was still learning the cocktail menu), but he was friendly and helpful. When I walked in, AJ was a little swamped at the bar (since the only people at Eclipse were at the bar), but there wasn't anyone at the host stand, nor did other staff standing near the kitchen say anything or tell me where I could sit. I was more than happy to sit at the bar - as a solo diner at an off-hour, it seemed like the easiest thing to do - but I wasn't sure if I could just grab a barstool and sit down or not. Since no one said anything, eventually I did just that, which was only a bit awkward (and I do get that I walked in between lunch and dinner service). Overall, it was a nice meal - nothing mind-blowing, but I do like their menu, and I enjoyed the food and my glass of wine. I wouldn't mind returning to try more of their menu on another occasion when I'm in Wilmington.

Everyone - that is, - everyone but the guy paying - enjoyed their meals. My wife and I ordered the Australian Waygu steak and Lobster and included bottle of wine for 2 deal at $199. My wife cooks an excellent steak but I wanted to try Waygu and hearing the hierarchy of Waygu goes: Japan, Australia, USA I was expecting perfection. When it 1st came out it looked too rare. But again, not having Waygu before I just went with it figuring even a fair chef at steakhouse should know the proper temperature to cook this special cut of beef. What a mistake. The 1st piece I "tried" to cut into was like cutting into the bottom of my shoe. Those 1st half dozen bites I had to spit out they were so tough. The 2nd piece of the pre-sliced Waygu was still a very tough slice and very chewy. I asked my son (44) to try it and he took a piece from to other end. He could taste the difference from a ribeye or porterhouse but again, it was tough and not as expected from such a "so called" prized piece of beef. I went back and forth with myself about complaining. But, with the grandkids there, and my son giving his lukewarm evaluation, I just decided to keep my mouth shut. Maybe it was a mistake. But we will just spend our money elsewhere (like The House of William and Merry where we always have a fantastic dining experience) I will add our service was excellent. I think her name was Harrison, or something like this. She, and the staff, served us well.
