Can't say enough good things about this shop. I dropped in at the dealership to get a check engine light diagnose, and they wanted $250 just to diagnose the problem and proceeded to tell me that they might have to hold the car for the whole day. I ended up calling Omega Motor or what it's called now, "B Garage PDX". They were immediate to answer and diagnose as soon as I drop by. They fit me in that afternoon for diagnostic, and it took them less than 30 mins to do it. In addition, they didn't charge me for the diagnostic. They proceeded to explain what was going on and provided a very reasonable quote. They ordered the parts and allowed me to bring my car back the following morning. My car was in and out in less than 3 hours, exactly what they quoted. I am beyond impressed with their personable demeanor and ways of running their business as a no frills garage and being super friendly at it. They know what they are doing. I am glad that this place was introduced to me, because now I finally have a place I can trust. read more

Just had to take my car back after a bunch of work a month ago to get through DEQ. Turns out the Mass Airflow Sensor they installed was a bad part. Replacing it with a better brand and no charge. I was pretty upset when I learned that MBI had been purchased by some hot shot swindler from Miami. Especially since I live only a few blocks away. Was there even anyone who works on old Mercedes in the Portland area other than the dealer? Yes! There is! They are Omega Motors. They seem to work mostly or exclusively on used and new Mercedes. I was a little nervous taking my 1991 350SDL in for the first time. But, they were upfront, honest, and even less expensive than I was expecting to pay. They are a family-owned business who seem to care about their customers. Though I went ahead and changed the oil and a few glow plugs myself, I took my baby in to figure out what the odd vibration noise was. And I had a couple of other things worked on. I also asked Steve to check the car over. He is very knowledgeable about these cars. They replaced my rear axles, which after 300,000 miles had started grinding. I took it in again recently to have the brakes replaced. Car came back running great and I noticed they did a couple of things I didn't ask for - like adding washer fluid. Downsides: they are out near the airport. However, I was able to bike to Parkrose TC via the bike path no problem. Also, they take their time. I am mostly a bike rider anyway, so it wasn't an issue for me. I'd rather they do what they need to do! read more

Steve is a wonderful person! I have been so pleased with the work done and I'm so glad I found them. I have a 76 240D that had some quirks when I bought it. I knew it had a fuel leak when I first went to them but they also found that the suspension was in need of a fix and one of my tires wasn't spinning freely due to a stuck break. I have always been impressed with their service and kindness. I've called Steve when I broke down on the highway and we talked through it, I've called him a few other times as well and he's only ever been patient and helpful. I've been multiple times for tune ups and for problems that concern me. If I ask a question I get everything explained and shown to me. They're just a bunch of really wonderful people. My car always drives GREAT after I pick it up from them. Always impressed! The one downside is sometimes they can be a little slow on repairs which usually hasn't been a problem for me. He's done 3 or 4 jobs for me, including rebuilding the A/C system, adjusting the valves, replacing the dashboard lights, a glow plug, the speedometer cable, and the valve cover gasket, and perhaps some other work. I took my 81' Mercedes here a couple years ago and even though she's passed on and I've since bought a "reliable" Japanese car (I'm a new mom.) I have to write how great the folks at Omega Motors are. They have a great family atmosphere and wonderful service. I've always found their quotes to be straightforward and price fair!! Old Benz parts don't come cheap but at Omega, they don't seem to surplus charge the heck out of it. can i just say....HELL YEAH.... FINALLY I found my mechanic for life. They are awesome! I went to MBI when i initially got my 1984 300TD few years ago and was ok w them until they switched owners. It has been over a year since i've been back to MBI, but they quoted me $570 for front brake/rotors....Omega is about 1/2 that and didnt do the repair at this time because they are still good! I've been searching for the right mechanic for a LONG time. Looking for someone who is HONEST, not going to over charge or talk me into something i dont need. Omega has been in business since mid 70's, (they opened when Sig opened MBI) This is WHAT they do, and do it well! I had a list when i went there and Steve took the time to go through it w me, and explained the mechanics behind a diesel engine in a way that i understood. I wont bat an eye when paying for repairs because they arent about making a quick dime, they are about keeping a customer. It's an old school family run business....what a rare gem! read more

An old school family owned shop. A place where the mechanics actually encourage you to watch as they repair your vehicle, offering advice and insights for free. I was delighted to find this shop. For a modest fee, they replaced the O rings on five diesel fuel injectors and replaced the fuel primer pump. They are now my designated shop for my 300D. Don't be deterred by the lot of vehicles in front to the shop. These are parts cars and you'll be glad they are there when the shop pulled just the part you need for a few dollars. read more

I really wish that I could say anything positive about my experience with them, but I can't Too many issues to note. Will NOT be using them again. Impossible to get ahold of to check on the progress of my car. My car may be a beater, but I am slowly restoring it. They had the car for a month and did noting more than try to start it and replace the glow plugs. Don't think any diagnostic tests were performed to determine the issues. The windows have cracked seals and was left out in the rain and mud for weeks, now I have mildew and rot in an area I JUST replaced with fresh carpet, floor pan, and interior. Finally got my car back, and a few things I had requested to be checked or replaced were not even touched. Now I have the fun job of doing all this myself. Primary fuel filter was missing, transmission line going to the radiator was loose and spitting ATF everywhere, quite a few other lines were either disconnected/loose/missing. I would think that they would have looked at a few of these things after having it for a month. Took my '78 300D to my regular guy who only works on BMW/VW/Audi now, but was willing to look at her. He was able to get her up and running better than she has in a year in one afternoon. Save yourself time and money and go somewhere else. read more

You do not want Omega Motors fixing your Mercedes at all ! They are not certified to work on Mercedes. Steve tries to act like a expert on Mercedes. He is not!!!! I brought my Mercedes to Omega Motors because it had issues with acceleration and stalling. Steve said the problem could be the Idle control is not working after checking the my car. Steve was trying to adjust the Idle while the car was running . So then he try to say it was a vacuum leak . Then next it was Mass Air Flow Meter problem Mass Air Flow Meter Potentiometer may need to be replaced . WRONG!!! The problem was the Oxygen Sensor needed to be replaced... Then Everything worked right.. Steve tries to act like these problems have never happened with any other Mercedes. SO PLEASE DON"T WASTE YOUR MONEY AT OMEGA MOTORS. Omega is great. They don't try to gank you- I don't bother with MBI anymore- not the same since Sig sold the business,- and they are knowledgeable and down to earth. ( I drive a Mercedes, but I'm not a CEO and I DON'T need a plate of cookies served to me while I'm waiting for the car to be worked on.) Too many horror stories, too, about other German-car oriented auto shops.....like 'employees' borrowing your car after hours for a little personal touring, another shop was rumored to take parts off your car for another car, in some kind of Ponzi scheme of running a business. And I don't need to be charged $200/hr for labor, and in fact, if Steve quotes me too high, I feel free to say so. (Not that he dickers- don't get that impression.) His Mom drove me a car rental when the weather was bad, his Father dropped me at a restaurant when I was hungry. So, you can't go wrong. It's a family business, with a good crew.
