On a rainy Thursday morning, my Sister actually wanted to do something nice and take me to brunch because we hardly see each other. She knows my criteria for when we eat out, unless there is a craving of something particular, I tend to veer towards trying places I haven't tried before so after a somewhat grueling workout, I Yelped the nearest "breakfast" place and landed here. This restaurant has been here since I can remember. I remember seeing it when I was in middle school! I don't know why my family has never stepped foot inside this place and neither have I until that day; I certainly regret the delayed visit! Parking can be a pain because it's in the same plaza as Ocean Supermarket and a Chinese meat/deli fast food place (always own by Ocean) along w/ a few others surrounding the plaza (liquor store, $.99 store, etc.). Pizza Hut and Pho 909 is on the other side of the plaza. Imagine a diner. Are you imagining it? Yup. Friendly servers. Varieties galore on the menu (breakfast/lunch/dinner all day!). I got the Denver omelet which comes w/ either hash browns or country potatoes and either a pancake, toast, or fruit. I chose country potatoes and a pancake and let me tell you, I feel like I gained 10lbs right after the meal because a) the portion was huge, b) the omelet was huge, savory w/ cheesy deliciousness, c) the country potatoes looked bland and undercooked BUT it was tender enough and crispy that it won't fall apart when you stick a fork into it, and d) the single pancake served as a dessert to me.. I finished everything. I inhaled everything. The food did take longer than I would expect but otherwise this place is a must visit if you are craving breakfast delights! When my friend's mom suggested this place, my sister and I were prepared to be disappointed by another mediocre diner. We had seen this nondescript building in the parking lot of the Asian supermarket we often frequent and it just looked a little sketch. But, we were pleasantly surprised by this family-run establishment, which has apparently been around for a long time. Rating Breakdown: 2/2 Stars for Taste -- We were kind of overwhelmed with all the options on the menu, but ultimately decided to get the omega omelet and the chorizo skillet. The omelet and the skillet were all pretty standard breakfast fare, but the hash brown and the pancake that came with them really stole the show. Make sure to ask for the hash brown extra crispy! The pancake smelled so good, my sister, who usually doesn't like pancakes, reached across the table just to snag some before I shoveled it all into my mouth. It was a thick fluffy slab of heaven! They also serve it with a generous pat of butter on top. Mmm... 1/1 Stars for Value -- At first, I was a little turned off by the prices. $10-12 for an omelet? Pffft. But, a lot of the entrees come with toast, hash brown, AND a pancake. You could definitely feed two people with one meal. I would recommend ordering two things to share among three people. 1/1 Stars for Customer Service -- The beauty of family businesses like these is that the restaurant has its own story. As a regular, my friend's mom started coming here before the restaurant came into the hands of its current owners. Our server knew her by name, gave her a hug, and asked after her daughter. I'm a sucker for that kind of stuff. Special treatment aside, the waiters were great. My sister and I arrived before our friends, but they seated us and let us deliberate over the menu first. No bonus star because even though this is a great place for breakfast or brunch, I probably wouldn't make it a point to come back unless someone else suggested it. It has been about four years since I last came here not I remembering why. Came in for breakfast and seated myself at the counter for faster service. I ordered eggs and link sausages with country fries. The sausage was very lightly seasoned to the point of being bland. It was overcooked to the point of being almost like jerky. Sunny side up eggs of which 2 out of 3 had broken yolks. Everything else was just ok and not spectacular. I may be old school and cheap but this breakfast with coffee cost $23.50 not including cash tip of $3. I think it is overpriced for a mediocre breakfast. TL; DR: A hidden gem for brunch - highly recommend the chicken and waffles! One of my friends is a huge fan of chicken and waffles, so when he recommends a place for chicken and waffles, you know it's going to be good. During breakfast/brunch hours this place serves up all sorts of brunch classics, from huevos rancheros to french toast (and the aforementioned chicken and waffles). Avocado toast is conspicuously absent from the menu. The morning ambiance is more diner than cafe, with booths packed full of families and servers constantly circulating around to re-fill coffee and water. Onto the waffles - the batter cooks up nice and fluffy, with the inside remaining moist and the outside having a light crisp. It's the perfect base for the chicken, which isn't heavily seasoned, but came out perfectly moist and tender inside with a good fried crunch on the outside. I've already come back several times, and this is one of my go-to places for a relaxing brunch. Parking is tight and this place is popular so get here early before the crowds arrive. read more

The review is long overdue. We have enjoyed coming to this restaurant for years and years. We feel as though the staff treat us like family, and the food is always served hot and delicious. We have had many times where we were joined by family, and other times where we dined and enjoyed a football game along other patrons. We appreciated that it is a family run business, and we were able to place many take out orders while the pandemic was raging. Food tasted fine. Steak needed salt. Asked for an order of kids pasta for our toddlers (saw the owner write it down) and after waiting for almost 20 minutes after receiving our meals, was told it was almost done. The owner turned around and (in Spanish) asked the cook to start the pasta. I speak Spanish and asked him to cancel the order. Our kids were losing it and highly upset because they were so hungry. We left and ordered fast food for them. When paying, the kids pasta was crossed off the ticket. Seems like the cook failed to execute on all ticket items, which sucked for our entire family. Funny thing I used to live less than a mile from here not long ago and I never heard of this place until we dined here. As soon as we walked in we were quickly seated. We were given a menu and asked for water and coffee. It was pretty cute because they had kids give us our drinks. My Nina ordered oatmeal my cousin ordered a fried egg & bacon sandwich and I had a turkey sandwich. The wait time for the food wasn't that long less than 10 minutes or so. I love when they refill your coffee without asking. Both our sandwiches both came with fries. For some reason my plate had the most fries like they piled it on lol. I asked my Nina if she liked her food and she did. MY cousin loved his sandwich. I ate my sandwich but I couldn't finish all my fries. The turkey sandwich was on hit. I really did enjoy having a fine meal here with my family we had a blast. So yeah I used to live in San Jose and I have hella family members that still live there. So I'll definitely be coming back. The taste of the food was very standard, nothing special. The customer service can be much better. Wait staff had her AirPod in and was on the phone while serving for most of my stay. As I exited after paying my bill, my 'thank you' was not reciprocated or even acknowledged. I didn't feel welcomed. According to the business listing they offer a full bar, however the bar is in a room adjacent to the diner and it was closed. I discovered this diner earlier this year and have been here 4 times since for breakfast/brunch. This is a great place to eat breakfast on the weekends because there's no ridiculous wait like Mils Diner or Black Bear or iHop. Although it's usually packed, we're usually seated right away (they also have a separate dining area for large parties). The portions here are HUGE. If you're not a big eater, I suggest you share with someone. They have every basic breakfast menu item you can imagine and their pancakes are DELICIOUS! Most breakfast dishes come with your choice of crunchy hash browns or country potatoes, and either toast or a pancake. They have a very diverse menu with choices from omelets to skillets to steak and eggs (tri tip, rib eye, or sirloin), to spam and eggs with white rice, to chicken and waffles, to cereal and oatmeal... the list goes on and on. The service is on point most of the time. One visit we had a lady who accidentally gave our check to someone else and took forever to refill our drinks, gave me regular coffee instead of decaf... This place even has a bar area, with a full bar! But I guess the bar is closed during breakfast hours. I haven't been here for dinner. The majority of clientele are regulars, and many are elderly. I've noticed the workers always acknowledging their regulars by name. One downside about this place is that it needs a re-model, badly. It definitely isn't the most inviting building on the block, especially sharing their parking lot with Ocean Supermarket. And even once inside, the furniture looks so outdated, it's probably older than me. They have 2 TV's mounted to the wall, but they're fairly small, and they normally play some infomercial. They need to switch it to sports! Something their guests can watch without audio. Although it has an outdated atmosphere, I'll still keep coming back if I'm craving pancakes! I will give this 2 star because the host was nice. However... The food was not good at all. I ordered the special, grilled king salmon with pilaf rice. Which was $15, not worth it. This dish was missing items that what was described in the menu. The salmon was dry & still had the skin on. I asked the waiter for the lemon, capers, shrimp sauce which that was mentioned in the menu that was part of the dish. When he brought it out it looked like yellow soup paste with hardly any shrimp or capers. My daughter had a breakfast dish which was just eggs and hot cakes, that was fine. The clam chowder barely had any clams or anything in it. Mainly just a broth soup. If you do plan on eating here I would recommend to stick with the breakfast. I probably will not eat here again. The 'new' owners (or most recent I should say), are beyond-awesome! My family and I are greeted every visit by Anthony and Michael (owners). They always ensure that our glasses never go empty, and that we have everything we need. If you're going be to Omega's for breakfast, bring your appetites. The Omelets are huge, and they're accompanied by fruit or potatoes, and toast OR pancake (yes please!). Breakfast can be shared for sure. My favorite breakfast/brunch 'go to' has to be the chicken breast and egg whites. Top this with Omega's homemade salsa, and you have a delicious and nutritious meal. Lunches: tuna melt! Lots of melted cheese and steak fries. Can't go wrong! Dinner: Omega's steaks! They are well-seasoned, and full of flavor. The prime rib may not LOOK glamorous, but it is a THICK cut of meat. You will NOT walk away hungry. Their Tuesday night dinner special, pork chops, are ridic! The scrambled eggs came out as a burnt omlette which had been cut into a few peices. the potatoes side was bland, without any flavor. The omlette was only burnt on one side, and the hasbrowns were mushy and bland. Now we have been waiting 15 minutes for a check to come. I would never return. read more

Had a craving for a real Monte Cristo sandwich so Yelp listed Omega since I was in the area. Before heading there, I called to see how they prepared their sandwich. Most places in the area just cook the sandwich on the flat top, so it's more of a French toast sandwich. The one I was looking for was of the deep fried, decadent variety. The girl/lady that answered the phone said they could prepare it either way so off I went. I arrived at 2:15pm, Saturday and was quickly seated to a mostly empty restaurant. Rafael (?) came by and took my order. I specifically said I wanted the Monte Cristo sandwich deep fried and he acknowledged me. I was sipping on a cool, iced tea drink when my food arrived. And, low and behold, it was cooked on a flat top! Argh! It was not deep fried and I was too tire/hungry to return it. Sadly, it tasted and felt too much like a stuffed french toast sandwich. Yuck! At least the French Fries were decent. So, I ate most of half of the sandwich and took the other half "to go". Knowing I wasn't going to eat that half when I get home, I decided to give it to a homeless woman. So, did the girl/lady or server not understand the term "deep fried"? Or, was that just the way they serve it no matter the request? So, Disney's Cafe Orleans is still the mecca for a true Monte Cristo sandwich. If you have a craving and can't get to SoCal, it looks like Bennigan's (Santa Clara) and Effie's (San Jose) will have to do. My search in NorCal continues... read more

The food and service went hand in hand, they were mediocre! I was bummed too because everyone I know who has tried this place out had good things to say. I went in yesterday to try the place out with my friend. I ordered the shish kabab plate. It was eh? The meat was really chewy, the rice was eh too... Our waitress didn't seem that pleasant which is no surprise working there. The atmosphere is dead just as much as the wall paper on the wall. She wasn't friendly at all. Perhaps they could use some tips from the cheesecake factory staff, never a dull moment there. I guess I'll have to try their breakfast next time. And the place could use a remodel, I felt like I was back in the 80's in south dakota or something. * One great thing was Olivia at the Bar, super nice and makes great drinks!
