I like efficiency, I like a lively diner, I like quick refills on my coffee. I've never left disappointed after a delicious breakfast at Omega. Is it going to blow you away? Probably not, but their bacon, eggs, potatoes, and pancakes will start your day off right. I haven't stopped by for dinner, but it seems like it is pretty popular then too. It's like a Greek-tinged Perkins. Oh how I miss Perkins.... Anywho, I was in Wisconsin visiting friends and family and this was chosen as our brunch place on my last morning as I was making my way south back home to Kentucky. Pros: -It was open on the 4th of July! -I got a table right way for four people despite the bustling busy-ness. -Insanely affordable. -The food was aright. Fines: -The food was...alright. A couple times I was waiting for quite a while for a coffee refill. But the group came in at different times, so maybe she was waiting for efficiency's sake. I got the Greek Omelet (sans tomatoes for personal taste preferences). The serving sizes are BONKERS big! I couldn't have finished my omelet if I had TRIED. The gyro meat was wrapped around the outside, but I think I might have liked it better on the inside. I got a fruit bowl as a side...it was all melons. I like watermelon, but cantaloupe and honeydew....not my faves. I ended up leaving most of that. -I was hella cramped. Tables are SUPER close together. So have fun navigating the maze. -The bathrooms are freezing. And you almost go in to the prep area to get there. You think you were pointed in the wrong direction. You weren't. And if you get caught behind a sweet old geezer who walks about half a mile an hour...your coffee is going to get cold as you both make your way back to your tables. Because there isn't room to go around him. It is fine. And it is open 24/7. I wouldn't be opposed to a return visit. But I think I would much rather go somewhere else or try somewhere new before going back. read more

This place is total garbage. Today I visited this place and asked for Greek omlet. I explained to them how I would like it to be done. They totally mismanaged my order and disregarded my specific instructions. I gave it back. They told me to pay $7.89 for coffee, which i did not touched and for fruits, which I did not touched either. I told manager about my dissatisfaction and he rudely said to me "so do not come back." One of the best burgers I have tasted in awhile. 1/4 pound patty, American cheese, onions, a pickle, lettuce, and bacon! It was hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The fries were also hot and tasty. If I am ever in Milwaukee again I will stop by. Keep up the good work you all. read more

Omega is an above-standard Greek-run breakfast and-everything-else restaurant. Breakfast is their specialty, and their menu is Greeknormous! I had the french toast w/sour cherries and it was good. This is my favorite family restaurant in Milwaukee because it's the biggest, the fastest, the strongest, and in its own way, the strangest. The most extreme. More things on the menu, more hours open (24 a day) and more people through the door. When I'm in town on business I might come here for lunch and then not have to eat for three days. For those Wisconsin size hangovers, this is the place. For people watching, you can't beat it. You might see Brett Favre or Latrell Sprewell, even The Pope. Huge families pull tables together and have reunions, looking like the cast party from an early John Waters movie. The Royal Family, maybe, even. The food is dependable family restaurant standard, but if you search the multi-paged menu you might find something you've never heard of that they invented just for you. I usually act like I'm going to do something healthy and get one of these "Julienne" salads, but of course there is like several pounds of ham and turkey on that thing, along with hard boiled eggs. I eat the vegetable part first, but the whole thing is like demolitioning the Great Pyramid. My very favorite thing about Paul's Omega is that since it's open 24 hours they've developed efficient and unobtrusive ways to clean. The wooden partitions that booths are built up against contain internal vacuum cleaner works, so that an employee need only connect a relatively short vacuum hose directly into one of the portals in the walls to vacuum, rather than having to drag a vacuum cleaner with cords all around. We were headed to try Zebb's for lunch since we were in the area and they had a better Yelp rating, but they had a power outage so we tried Omega instead. We were quickly seated in a booth, however waited long enough for waters and a server that we started a five minute countdown and were planning to leave if no one came by, but our server did stop by a couple of minutes after that. Like another reviewer mentioned, the decor does look somewhat like Perkins, but less "country" in my book. The booth was roomy and things were clean. The prices for lunches and entrées were mostly in the $9.99-16.99 range, probably large portions, but I was looking for something lighter and found a soup and 1/2 sandwich combo with fruit for under $8. The soup of the day was chicken and dumpling, so I ordered that with a chicken salad sandwich. The soup was surprisingly good with spaetzle-like blobs of dough in it. The chicken salad was well mixed chicken with no large chunks, white meat with lots of mayo and not a lot of anything else in it, but there was a large serving of it on my toasted white bread. It came with lettuce and tomato on the sandwich and there was even a little container of coleslaw included on the side. My fruit consisted of a wedge of cantaloupe and a wedge of honeydew. I think it was a good value for the price, but I probably wouldn't get it again as I think I'm more of a gussied up chicken salad kind of gal. Our server brought us extra glasses of water and checked on us after we received our order. While Mr. R was waiting to pay the bill at the counter, I perused the glass dessert case. There were a lot of fancy cakes that appear to be baked in Chicago, but after looking for a couple of minutes it occurred to me that there should probably be some baklava somewhere. I finally found it at the top far left of the counter outside of the glass case. If I had seen it sooner or known about it I certainly would have had to try it. read more

I went in and ordered 3 dinners two separate orders and tickets. I asked to make sure everything was in bag it was hard to check because they use paper bags and staple them. I didn't receive dinner rolls that was purchased or dressing for salad. Hell yeah, this place is tight. Nothing fancy. Greek diner with a huge menu. Everything's okay, nothing is mind blowingly spectacular. But sometimes you don't want a big bill at a small plates restaurant. Sometimes you just want some real diner food. Now that I've stopped drinking, I have a hard time finding something to do late at night, especially if I'm hungry and would rather not go to a bar. Enter Omega, which can satisify literally any craving I could come up with. Chocolate chip pancakes are delicious. Will order again and again and again. My girlfriend just ran a half-marathon in a little over two hours. I sat in the cold weather watching for two hours. I think it's fair to say that we were both very tired, one maybe arguably more than the other. The jury's still out on that. Regardless, this restaurant provided us with the carbs necessary to get back on our feet, tie up our laces, and get on with our day! The wide variety of selection from American, to Mexican, to Southern, all under a name encompassing Greek cuisine, was outright strange for me. But hey, if you can make it work, you do you. I had their Greek Sandwich and it was really good! The service is great, but our booth had really off-sided seats which made eating a little bit uncomfortable. Blarg, the last time I came here, service was slow, which was weird because the place wasn't even that busy during the time we went, and the food was absolutely awful! My wife and I stopped by for a late lunch between shopping in the area. She ordered a simple breakfast that consisted of a Greek omelet, potatoes, toast, and such, which is difficult to royally mess up, so her food was fine. I thought I ordered something simplistic: a Ruben sandwich with French fries, y'know, nothing fancy ... YUCK! The corned beef was rubbery/over cooked, the bread was hard as a rock, and they skimped on the cheese, dressing, and sauerkraut! Not even the fries were fresh; they tasted as if they were left in a hot window for 30+ minutes. Not only that, but nearly 45 minutes after consuming what I could of my meal, I fell ill. The only thing that was decent about our meal is that our server was nice. Other than that, I don't see us returning anytime soon! The moral of Omega Restaurant's story: stick to what you do well (Greek food). If you can't execute something as simple as a Ruben properly, don't bother placing it on the menu. As long time customers we've gone thru several changes in management over the years. This last takeover has pretty much forced us away for good though. It was bad enough when they changed the family atmosphere by adding several huge TVs to play sports on. For months every visit showed a new menu that another of my favorite dishes had disappeared from. The roast pork, the whitefish, even the deliciously huge club sandwiches are gone! Not only that, but the "cheapskate moves" on their part totally pissed us off and we started leaving with hard feelings, rather than the warm glow that we used to from a great dinner out. Examples are taking away the free refills on soda, stopping the endless rolls and butter...you're allowed one roll now, you must pay for extras, their big portions are gone as well. Unless I'm in the mood for breakfast for dinner, there is nothing on the menu I enjoy anymore, so we won't be back. It's really a shame, Omega used to be one of our favorites, and the place we would always bring out of town visitors. read more

This is my second trip here.. Diner in every sense of the word. Greek style, Mexican cooks. (very positive intention) The menu is pretty normal...however they have great specials and REAL soup. I tried the special on my first trip, skirt steak, black beans and rice..DELICIOUS. This trip, I went for a staple.. chicken cutlet, gravy and rice..mmm mmm mmm. Most of the dinner items come with soup/salad, entree, potato and wine or a dessert, for around 10.00.. Fabulous. The service at this place is ALWAYS top-notch, and I'm a sucker for good service! My daughter is convinced even the water here tastes better than IHop, mostly because the service is so seemingly individualized. Today: ~It's always busy here, but you never wait long for hot, fresh food. It is big, it is Greek, it might be fat, and you might have a great wedding party here, but mostly I go here for breakfast. I just love the way they do the typical diner food in a fast, friendly, and yummy way. There is a minimal Greek section to the menu. This is a Greek diner, not really a Greek Taverna. There are no surprises here. There is nothing gourmet about this place, but you get a lot of awesome stuff here for great prices. I usually do breakfast. I do two eggs, sausage patties, and hash browns (get them with onions!), and with a side of the sauce from biscuits and gravy for $1. A friend of my dads who was here has another way to go at it. He and his lady friend order one three egg special, get corn tortillas, a side of beans, and a side of roasted jalapeno peppers (the sides are a buck I think), and they share the plates and make breakfast tacos. Coffee service is great. This is drip coffee but it is good. It comes out in a speedy service. There are women and men who go around and top off all the coffee and fill up your water. When I worked in a place like this the owner said: If the coffee cup goes dry the customer won't tip! You better tip, because it will be a cold day in Milwaukee when they don't keep the java flowing here! Now, this is very much a South Side of Milwaukee place. The Polish, Mexican, African-American, and Greek communities come together her as customers, servers, and cooks, and everything about it is grand, hybrid, even a bit tacky, but it is pure Americana at its best. Would you expect anything less from a place that is on the same street as Leon's Frozen Custard and Mazos burger joint? No way. This is Milwaukee baby, and you are gonna get a lot of whatever you order. I came here with a co-worker at night (probably around 11:30 pm). The service was pretty good and we were greeted by our server right away. The food came quickly and it was delicious. I ordered an omelette and it was a lot bigger than I thought it would be but that meant I had leftovers and lunch for the next day. The waiter was attentive but not over-bearing as some can be late at night. He didn't try to rush us either when we decided to sit and chat for a few minutes after our meal before leaving. Every saturday we go here for breakfast. Their omlets are HUGE and the skillets are tasty. It gets really busy on Sundays so arrive early but they do have tons of parking. NOMZILLA! Omega Family Restaurant is like the Godzilla of Milwaukee Greek diners. I don't know if it's the biggest, but it's definitely got the best service, and the best breakfast among the ones I've tried. I don't go here to eat dinner....c'mon. It's a diner: you're supposed to eat breakfast at diners. (Or maybe that's just ingrained in me from reruns of the 80's sitcom Alice?) Anyway, they have a delicious build-your-own omelet. That's usually what I get when I'm there. The coffee is a good pick me up in the morning, and pretty good for diner coffee. A good friend of mine had the oreo pancakes one afternoon for brunch, and we shared them- hooray for oreo cookies! There's another thing they're good at- being fried inside pancake batter. I always get seated relatively quickly for how busy they usually are. Each waitress is polite and attentive in her own way, and I usually leave with a full tummy and a box of leftovers full of tasty noms. read more

Come on, it's a Greek family diner. You know what's here. This one gets it all right, and does it in such a friendly manner. I've never felt rushed at Omega's. No matter how full and busy they are, we're always treated well. I've often remarked that they have one of the better steaks in the city, breakfast or otherwise. I know, you're thinking I've not had many steaks around town. I get that. Thing is, that for the flavor, cut and price, I'd easily rank their breakfast steak in the top five.
