The outside patio area is banged up. Chipped walls, cracked plexiglass repaired with scrap metal, ragged stucco, stained concrete. But the service and the meals make up for it. When Rancho, Omokase would be among our top choices for sushi. Nice selection, fresh fish, good variety. I would love to do an "omAkase," which happens when the diner leaves his fate in the hands of the chef. The Michelin Guide describes it as "a form of Japanese dining in which guests leave themselves in the hands of a chef and receive a meal which is seasonal, elegant, artistic and uses the finest ingredients available." That says $$$$ to me but also says we'd be talking about it 10 years from now! Omokase does not offer that type of experience on the menu, maybe it's only for locals or the spelling makes it a completely different thing. read more

The food is amazingly fresh here. We love the baked muscles and edamame for appetizers out of this world. The sushi is always fresh and delicious. The service is on point the keep the sake bombs flowing. The ambiance is perfectly satisfying you can sit at the sushi and watch them make your food or sit at the bar and watch the game. read more

WOW! This is one of the most extensive menus I have ever seen! Even if you don't like sushi, you will find something here! We went on a Tuesday around 6:30 without reservation and luckily we got right in. It is a pretty no-nonsense place. They just seat you, hand over the menus and you flag them down when you are ready. We tried 7 different rolls, sorry we were so hungry we didn't take photos, and all of them were great! Parking was super easy, right out front. Dress code is very casual. Small dark place, no fluff. NOT a bad thing.. Nice when you are craving sushi but don't want to get all dressed up and be on public display. lol Would definitely go back on my travels to California. read more

Our family have been dining with Omokase for more than a decade. The items that have been consistently delicious for us are the sashimi, yakisoba, unagi rolls, and salmon skin rolls. We've tried salmon skin rolls at countless sushi restaurants and in my honest opinion no one compares to Omokase's. We always ask for extra salmon skin on top. They charge an extra 2 bucks but it's so worth it! The service is good when it's not too busy. We miss dining in but take advantage of takeout whenever we crave salmon skin rolls in particular. Our most recent and definitely not last takeout order only took 20 minutes. read more

Used to come here often. Came back after sometime and saw comments of new ownership, but gave it a shot anyway. Immediately noticed all the workers have been replaced :/. The sushi menu has the same items it used to with the same ingredients. The taste however, was lacking and the fish on the rolls was warm. It wasn't an intolerable meal but it wasn't what used to bring me here so often. Will probably be my last time :/. Farewell. read more

I had lunch with coworkers at Omokase today, and it was overall a pleasant experience. The host was courtesy, and our order was taken pretty quickly. One of us had a bento box type lunch special; another had a similar teriyaki beef and red cali roll lunch special. I ordered a Crunchy Rainbow roll. My coworkers stated the teriyaki beef in their meals had a nice flavor but it was slightly over cooked. The coworker with the Red Cali roll enjoyed it, even though he usually doesn't like spicy tuna. I found the Crunchy Rainbow roll pretty good. It wasn't the best Rainbow roll I've had, but it tasted fresh and the rice to fish ratio was excellent. Would I come here again? Yes, but there are so many good Japanese options in the area. read more

Great service. Food was good. If you like rolls with different sauces, this is the place. If you're more into the raw stuff, then you must sit at the bar with Scott and ask him for it. For the IE, i would say this is one of my go tos. I got the toro, I prefer chu toro, or a similar cut. He had O toro, but still Pretty fire. Sushi is sushi...Said NO ONE EVER! This place is good. The service is amazing....I love it when your waiter/waitress checks on you continuously. It almost seems like a team effort. The food: ordered the ... spicy baked scallop without the spice= ugh it was so yummy...The scallops wet baked perfectly... Basic California roll: $5 you can't go wrong with one. Took it home for my sister and she loved it. Rainbow roll: delicious rawness that just melts in your mouth. The fish tasted fresh...well I don't think it tasted old, as I'm not a sushi connoisseur... The place: has a sushi bar you can walk up to and sit. I observed a lady there and she was serviced quickly. There's also a separate bar bar with alcoholic beverages served. A huge tv to sit in front of if you're on an awful date and want to avoid eye contact lol Parking: in a shopping center so there's plenty of parking We went at about 8:30 during the week and it was not packed... I'll NEVER, EVER get food here again and my negative experience goes on past the day I got the food. This was my first time here. I was eager to see how the food is. Due to COVID, I ordered takeout, however, I was quite disappointed. The cajun chicken was very dry as if it was sitting around for a few days. the California and Philly crunch rolls weren't that flavorful and neither was the tempura. I never had a menu in front of me to see it well, so I thought the calamari salad would be ALL calamari pieces, GRILLED, soft and fresh with the sauce and maybe some sliced scallions, etc., but it was just a regular full lettuce salad that you can get from anywhere with some dry, fried pieces of calamari on top and that also looked and tasted like they've been sitting around for a couple of days. The beef gyoza was so-so. So unfortunately, nothing I ordered was good. I don't know if standards had diminished due to COVID (I've never gone here pre-COVID), but too many things just weren't good unfortunately. And I just noticed that I said fried rice with my platter, but they gave me white rice. I had a good amount of food leftover, but I threw it out. I can't remember a time when food I got from someplace was like this. Plus, after eating, my tongue felt the way it feels if you eat food that's too hot and it has that burnt feeling, but the food wasn't hot when I ate it. THE NEXT DAY...I didn't feel right in my body plus my tongue was still feeling funny. It was like I had some odd reaction. NO food's ever affected me like this has in my entire life. The shrimp, calamari, and/or chicken probably weren't fresh. There was even a point where I felt sick to my stomach like I was about to throw up any minute, but surprisingly, didn't. Stay tuned. I may have to add more to say when my tongue finally felt back to normal. read more

Went for lunch on a Saturday and thought the sushi was ok. It's a small place, not much ambiance just dimly lit. Our server was very nice and attentive and checked on us often. We ordered the baked salmon roll, Omo special, golden tiger roll and the marble lobster roll. We waited a long time for the lobster roll and it came out cold and chewy. The other rolls we felt needed more sauce or flavor. It's great if you want to go somewhere not as crowded or loud as other places. read more

first off i truly love their service!!! They are very accommodating and friendly. We went for lunch on a weekday and they have a lot if specials that doesn't break the bank. i had the bowl and sushi special. Had the plain udon which has the very satisfying broth. Just the right amount of saltiness. The salmon tempura roll came with 5 large pieces of rolls. Its like a crunch roll with just salmon instead of shrimp. read more

I have to say, this place is BY FAR the best I have seen for sushi in California. Awesome birthday place! I had a little bit of everything from Spicy Tuna rolls, Golden California rolls, Calamari, vegetable tempura, and yes mochi ice cream! They are super fast to make some amazing sushi and really deliver on taste! I will definitely be back soon. A+ for keeping things clean and organized and to avoid crowing during Covid-19. My husband and I have been coming here for about a year now. They are located southwest of Haven & Foothill (right next to Paris Pastries, just south of Coffee Bean). They don't have All You Can Eat which is fine. I don't eat that much these days anyway! The first time we ate here for dinner. We both got the Bento boxes and received good service. We've also been to the Omokase in Fontana. Most recently my husband and I have been here twice during their Happy Hour which is dine-in only during the weekdays between 3-6PM. 50% off select rolls (it changes) 50% off appetizers (tempura, salmon collar, gyoza, popcorn chicken...) $1 off select food (baked green mussels, California Rolls, fried calamari, Dynamite...) Beer specials, shots, sake, wine, well drinks are also on special. The rolls are made to order (not pre-made). The tempura comes out super hot and fresh. We always get good service here (only dined in here). Happy Hour for us is a great option when we don't want to eat too much, just a couple special rolls, California rolls and order of shrimp and vegetable tempura always hits the spot! read more

We've been coming here for a couple years now, and we love the food and how fresh it is. But our experience today sucked. I asked for a water with lemon and the waiter forgot the lemons. The spicy garlic edamame isn't the same anymore it was really powdery and the sushi just doesn't taste good anymore. Not to mention there was nats literally flying everywhere. And customer service was horrible. Our cups were empty and nobody checked up to see if we wanted a refill. read more

We went there for dinner tonight and we saw the waiter/manager talk to a young couple and literally yell at them. They had complained to the fact that the pricing on the menu was wrong. It was in regards to a bottle of sake that was showing a price of eight dollars and they build them for 9.95. The couple asked why are you charging me 9.95 and he said well the prices vary in change. The couple said why didn't you tell us. The manager/waiter started yelling saying it's posted everywhere. The couple said why didn't you tell us that we were ordering was going to be such a such price. He said yelling even more you should not worry about that and read the signs we don't have time to explain all the prices. The couple said we are not paying that price, then the waiter said I'm calling the police call the police and started yelling at the restaurant called the police. Please do not go to this restaurant and let the owner know why. It was such a horrible experience the young couple was so sad with a young little one month old baby the young girl was crying and we literally left with a stomach ache. The manager/waiter had blond hair and very unprofessional. read more

This place used to be my favorite sushi place. I have been going here for years until today. HORRIBLE SERVICE is a understatement. After waiting to be seated what should have been 10 min it was 25. Then once seated we weren't acknowledged at all. No one who was part of the staff spoke to us. Minutes later the waitress decided to go to a party that came 10 minutes after we were seated. I waived your bet her attention and she waived me off. When I asked for the manager I was disregarded again as if we didn't exist. I will never eat at this Restaurant again. They have turned a years long relationship down the drain. read more

Delicious! I can see why there was a line to this place! Okay, dinner starts SEATING at 5:00. Take out is a constant flow...so don't get caught in that line by mistake. They have a 1.5 hr seating time limit which makes sense when you see the size of their patio. I believe that is reasonable. We did not feel rushed and had a wonderful dinner. Our new favorite sushi place. Been here three times and always gotten a great meal and good service. I took off a star for ambiance. They keep a lot of supplies out in the open instead of hidden out of sight of their customers, which makes the place look messy and disorganized. It's a very casual atmosphere. I wouldn't recommend it for a "fine dining experience" if you were trying to impress a date. But if your only priority is great sushi, this is the place. read more

This is one of the best sushi places around HANDS DOWN. What's makes it top notch is def the service. Supper attentive and helpful staff. I recently had an ACL surgery and they were so accommodating and understanding. My hubster and I always sit at the sushi bar-type area and have a great time with the sushi chefs. Been to this restaurant a few times before and won't be going again after this.I ordered a package of yellowtail carpacccio and golden tiger rolltoday, and it tasted very fishy and stale when I got home ten minutes later. My daughter had diarrhea soon after eating it.Very disappointed! We order and pack something to keep our family healthy, and don't buy stale ingredients. Everyone knows that inflation in the United States is increasing now.Restaurants should always do business for the needs of customers, not just for profit. Not recommended!!! read more

Great variety of sushi and rolls to choose from, and they are all super tasty. Even better is the sashimi, highly recommend the omekase burrito. There are also nice lunch specials that in include bowls and rolls. Overall, a great sushi spot in the area. They have opportunity to improve their service... I believe it's served with chili oil, a mound of minced garlic and some vegetables. Outside of those ingredients I thought it needed more flavor or substance. The beef rolls were ok to me as well. I liked how crispy the roll was and size. Good portions of sliced beef served with cilantro. It was refreshing but the meat was generally cold with some warmness provided by the roll. But that quickly faded. Would prefer it to be warmer. The highlight was the pot stickers. Beef and onion were good. Really enjoyed the presentation of the dish. The edges of the pot sticker were really thick. Almost chip like. I enjoyed it as much as the dish itself. Would get it again. Overall I thought the food was ok. I'm sure there are better highlight dishes than what I ordered but they weren't selected this go around. Also the prices are a little higher than most dumpling spots so I just expected more.

Sizzling plates used to be THE big thing in the early and mid 2000s with lots of boba places having them as as specialty (RIP Coffee Break and MJ's Tea House), but now aside from a handful of businesses and Pepper Lunch, they're much more rare. Glad that the IE has Sizzlin' Place as one of their sizzling plate heavy hitters. Aside from the sizzling plates, they have other menu items including fried appetizers, soup and dried noodles, and sides like fries and takoyaki, but if you're going to a sizzling plate place, you gotta get a sizzling plate, you know? That's decorum. Service is welcoming and friendly, and efficient in the safest way possible with the scorching hot plates. Seating can get limited due to the nature of the meal, but I've never had an issues the times I chose to eat here. Ambiance can be relaxed and chill when the Haven City Market isn't busy, but during weekends or rush hour, it can get a bit hectic and there may be a bit of a wait. A staple that you can never go wrong with is the hot plate beef and if you're a carnivore or if you're sharing, you have to upsize and upgrade it. The slices of beef here are just slightly thicker than what I'm used to at Pepper Lunch, but that just means it'll shrink less and get less stuck on the hot plate as well. You get a hearty serving of rice with some corn on top, pepper, and green onions. Like other sizzling plate places, you can always get pasta or udon instead of rice, if you're feeling a bit more adventurous. Super hot, filling meal that's easy to eat. Not the most flavorful sometimes, at least with what I order, and in comparison to other competitors, but hits the spot when need be.

One of my favorite spots for lunch and happy hour. The lunch combos are ridiculously cheap...I get the sashimi, sushi and spicy tuna roll combo, which comes with miso soup, rice and salad, for around $12. Unlike some other sushi places, the fish they use for the lunch combos is fresh...I sat at the sushi bar a couple times and saw them cut the fish in front of me. Their drink specials are pretty good for happy hour....not too crowded for some reason. My favorite thing is that they chill their beer glasses, so the beer is always cold. pretty good selection of Japanese beer on tap. This place has a crazy selection of rolls. My favorite is the Genki roll, which has salmon, california roll and eel. Doesn't sound that great, but it is DELICIOUS. I usually get the same 3 or 4 rolls whenever I order rolls separately...I should venture out and try the others, but I like sticking to what I know. The staff is generally good, though it is spotty at times when it gets busy. I usually sit at the sushi bar, so my food comes out faster than sitting at the tables. The staff is friendly though not everyone is knowledgeable. Some servers are better than others. Like other reviewers mentioned, TVs are always on some kind of sports. That's a good thing for me since I love sports, but it can get kind of loud in there when there are customers at the bar. Overall, a good dining experience. read more

Had dinner tonight and let me say this was some bull.. first we got sat rather briskly and our waiter was a JOKE. he didnt introduce himself just said "drinks" took our drink order and brought back 2 sodas and a weak brown rice green tea. let me just say the service was horrible it came down to "ready yet" and then to top it off he dosent ring our friends food and when my friend asked about his dinner he was given a blank look and told that "he'd bring a menu and suggest something" to top it off the OWNER didnt comp anything gave a weak apology for the HORRIBLE service. im sorry if you as a owner are on the dinning room floor and dont bother to check in on your guests what are you really doing?? not a damn thing... the FOOD the food was meek our udon broth smelt like something out of a jar.. but the biggest bone to pick is the "LOBSTER" if you have "Lobster" on your menu and you charge 11.95 for a "lobster" roll DO NOT SEND OUT CRAYFISH. i'm sorry did i order a marble roll because i wanted CRAYFISH? and to top it off the baked lobster roll had FRIED crayfish all over it.. this was seriously sad our friend had told us it was a great place for sushi; heck he even said the owner was great.. but in reality we would have been better off going to WINCO and getting some "sushi".. read more

I have been going to Omokase since they opened. I used to go to Ken's but I was tired of the high prices and the attitude from the chefs. There motto was "I make it you like it". No Options. Dono sushi was also a regular stop but again the long wait to sit down to the long wait for your food was ridiculous. Omokase's staff is awesome. When we walk in they remember who you are and the things you like to eat & drink. Jo Jo is our favorite & Sean behind the bar is on top of his game. Happy hour is the best in town with food & drink specials that keep you coming back. I can go to Omokase and have better quality food and have more cocktails then I can have at Buffalo Wild Wings for half of the price. You just can't beat it. If you are confused about what you would like to order, just order the Omokase combo platter. You get a lot of food for a great price. My only disappointment is that the chefs do not serve oysters very often. If you have not tried Omokase Sushi yet, then you are missing out. Not sure why there aren't more 1 star ratings for this so called sushi restaurant. To start we waited about 10 minutes to be seated when the restaurant was less than half full. A few waiters came by and didn't even acknowledge us. Just as we were about to leave someone finally said hello and took us to our table. The menu is super dirty and outdated with some dishes no longer available. The waiter literally had to ask the "chef" if they had five of the dishes we wanted. All was no... Food came out super fast but as soon as we took our first bite we knew why this place looks the way it does. Almost all roll ratio was 60% imitation crab wit mayo (a lot of mayo!) 30% rice and the rest was the main ingredients. They have a few dishes they add a lot of toppings but the quality is very bad. Don't be fooled by the picture. Mediocre sushi with lazy employees who don't know the menu. If you dare to waste your money here just make sure you don't sit by the front desk. The phone keeps ringing and no one seems to take enough to pick up. read more

I have dined at this restaurant approximately four times, and on each occasion, I have ordered my favorite sushi selection. Without fail, the quality and taste have exceeded my expectations. Typically, I prefer to stick to pure sushi dishes rather than rolls or other items, as I appreciate the simplicity and freshness of raw seafood. Despite being located in the IE, this establishment offers some of the finest sushi in town. A standout feature was their gracious accommodation of my 90-pound dog on the patio, a gesture that I truly appreciated. As a pet owner, this inclusivity was a significant plus for me. Maybe not the most authentic sushi in California but most definitely delicious and very fresh. I like what they are doing and really had a great time here. I stuck with rolls because that's what I crave. I had the baked spicy lobster, the genii roll, and the ichiban roll. All were really really fresh and well made. I like a little spicier wasabi. I know to eat sushi correctly they say you are not supposed to mix the wasabi into the soi sauce right? That's the only way I do it though. I mix it all up and I love it when it just makes my whole head real like its going to burst from the wasabi lol. Although this sushi spot isn't an all-you-can-eat place, the quality of the food definitely makes up for it. Every dish was beautifully presented and tasted fresh and flavorful. The sushi was well-prepared with a nice balance of rice and fish, and the rolls had a great variety of textures and flavors. The service was excellent -- the staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure everything came out in a timely manner. As for the atmosphere, it was decent -- nothing overly fancy, but comfortable enough to enjoy a nice meal. They serves excellent local sushi at a welcoming establishment with a neat and peaceful dining space. The baked rolls stood out as the best part of our meal because the Norman and Hungry rolls delivered fresh and flavorful experiences. The staff provided excellent service without intruding on our experience and the food arrived promptly. The prices at this restaurant match the quality standards but some items seemed a bit too expensive. I recently moved to the IE and thought i couldn't find a good sushi place out here...i tried out Omokase on my way home from work, and I was extremely pleased. their sushi is really fresh and well made, and they have a lot of different rolls...try the marble lobster! another thing that separates this place is the full bar...i love to drink, so i found omokase a very good place to eat and unwind with a few drinks. i've been back a few times every time i get a sushi craving, and the place is consistent every time. definitely has made my living in the IE a little better.... read more

I've been coming to Omokase in Rancho Cucamonga for a while now, and it never disappoints. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and consistently high quality. Every visit feels just as good as the first. The service is one of the main reasons I keep returning -- the staff is always attentive, friendly, and on top of everything. I ordered over the phone and paid with my credit card and was told that I could pick up my order in 15-20 minutes. I waited and waited 52 minutes and my order wasn't done. This was after I left a $9 tip. Still waited for this order... I left, because I had a flight to catch and couldn't wait. I called back and told them to keep my money and this was a horrible experience. DON'T GO HERE! They have my phone number and never called me back. Stupid pissed with this deal. We have been going here for several years and it was a place to rave about, but since new mgmt 1-2 years ago, there is recurrent staff turnover (service is 2-star) and the sashimi pieces are getting smaller (although it still is bigger than most sushi places), the food quality is above average, their prices are very fair, don't order to go (they will likely mess up your order and the food sizes drop by at least 25%), we only dine in now and if ordering to go we call another sushi place... read more

I've been here a few times and have always had decent service, and good sushi. Prices are fair as well. The crunchy dragon roll is awesome! And their baked green muscles are OK (a bit over baked ). Their bar drinks on the other hand were dreadful. I've never seen anyone or place butcher a margarita like the did. My sister's bar drink was pretty bad as well. Our service was great, but spotty at several times. I loved all the nigiri items, especially the peppered salmon, ikura, and halibut. I'd pass on the red clam nigiri, and the fried appetizers as they were big portions but very filling! Delicious melt in your mouth pieces of yellowtail and salmon were the highlights for me. My friends enjoyed their unagi, and our friend's daughter enjoyed all the cooked items. Overall, I could say I understand the appeal of the restaurant!

If I had to pick between the two, I think I'd order the ika gesso as the calamari was lightly fried and the sauce was really good. We followed with salmon carpaccio and it was so fresh and flavorful and the citrus and geisha rolls were also fantastic. Some of our favorite items to order include the Golden Cali Roll, Alaskan Roll, and Crunch Roll. The Alaskan Roll is notably my favorite of the three. They have mastered this baked salmon roll without making it saturated with mayo (something our family appreciates!). The sauce combo on it is super tasty as well.
