Used to come here often. Came back after sometime and saw comments of new ownership, but gave it a shot anyway. Immediately noticed all the workers have been replaced :/. The sushi menu has the same items it used to with the same ingredients. The taste however, was lacking and the fish on the rolls was warm. The outside patio area is banged up. Chipped walls, cracked plexiglass repaired with scrap metal, ragged stucco, stained concrete. But the service and the meals make up for it. When Rancho, Omokase would be among our top choices for sushi. Nice selection, fresh fish, good variety. I would love to do an "omAkase," which happens when the diner leaves his fate in the hands of the chef. The Michelin Guide describes it as "a form of Japanese dining in which guests leave themselves in the hands of a chef and receive a meal which is seasonal, elegant, artistic and uses the finest ingredients available." That says $$$$ to me but also says we'd be talking about it 10 years from now! Omokase does not offer that type of experience on the menu, maybe it's only for locals or the spelling makes it a completely different thing. read more

WOW! This is one of the most extensive menus I have ever seen! Even if you don't like sushi, you will find something here! We went on a Tuesday around 6:30 without reservation and luckily we got right in. It is a pretty no-nonsense place. They just seat you, hand over the menus and you flag them down when you are ready. We tried 7 different rolls, sorry we were so hungry we didn't take photos, and all of them were great! Parking was super easy, right out front. Dress code is very casual. Small dark place, no fluff. NOT a bad thing.. Nice when you are craving sushi but don't want to get all dressed up and be on public display. lol Would definitely go back on my travels to California. read more

Our family have been dining with Omokase for more than a decade. The items that have been consistently delicious for us are the sashimi, yakisoba, unagi rolls, and salmon skin rolls. We've tried salmon skin rolls at countless sushi restaurants and in my honest opinion no one compares to Omokase's. We always ask for extra salmon skin on top. They charge an extra 2 bucks but it's so worth it! The service is good when it's not too busy. We miss dining in but take advantage of takeout whenever we crave salmon skin rolls in particular. I had lunch with coworkers at Omokase today, and it was overall a pleasant experience. The host was courtesy, and our order was taken pretty quickly. One of us had a bento box type lunch special; another had a similar teriyaki beef and red cali roll lunch special. I ordered a Crunchy Rainbow roll. My coworkers stated the teriyaki beef in their meals had a nice flavor but it was slightly over cooked. The coworker with the Red Cali roll enjoyed it, even though he usually doesn't like spicy tuna. I found the Crunchy Rainbow roll pretty good. It wasn't the best Rainbow roll I've had, but it tasted fresh and the rice to fish ratio was excellent. Would I come here again? Went for lunch on a Saturday and thought the sushi was ok. It's a small place, not much ambiance just dimly lit. Our server was very nice and attentive and checked on us often. We ordered the baked salmon roll, Omo special, golden tiger roll and the marble lobster roll. We waited a long time for the lobster roll and it came out cold and chewy. I'll NEVER, EVER get food here again and my negative experience goes on past the day I got the food. This was my first time here. I was eager to see how the food is. Due to COVID, I ordered takeout, however, I was quite disappointed. The cajun chicken was very dry as if it was sitting around for a few days. the California and Philly crunch rolls weren't that flavorful and neither was the tempura. I never had a menu in front of me to see it well, so I thought the calamari salad would be ALL calamari pieces, GRILLED, soft and fresh with the sauce and maybe some sliced scallions, etc., but it was just a regular full lettuce salad that you can get from anywhere with some dry, fried pieces of calamari on top and that also looked and tasted like they've been sitting around for a couple of days. The beef gyoza was so-so. So unfortunately, nothing I ordered was good. I don't know if standards had diminished due to COVID (I've never gone here pre-COVID), but too many things just weren't good unfortunately. And I just noticed that I said fried rice with my platter, but they gave me white rice. I had a good amount of food leftover, but I threw it out. I can't remember a time when food I got from someplace was like this. Plus, after eating, my tongue felt the way it feels if you eat food that's too hot and it has that burnt feeling, but the food wasn't hot when I ate it. THE NEXT DAY...I didn't feel right in my body plus my tongue was still feeling funny. It was like I had some odd reaction. NO food's ever affected me like this has in my entire life. The shrimp, calamari, and/or chicken probably weren't fresh. There was even a point where I felt sick to my stomach like I was about to throw up any minute, but surprisingly, didn't. Stay tuned. We went for lunch on a weekday and they have a lot if specials that doesn't break the bank. i had the bowl and sushi special. Had the plain udon which has the very satisfying broth. My husband and I have been coming here for about a year now. They are located southwest of Haven & Foothill (right next to Paris Pastries, just south of Coffee Bean). They don't have All You Can Eat which is fine. I don't eat that much these days anyway! The first time we ate here for dinner. We both got the Bento boxes and received good service. We've also been to the Omokase in Fontana. Most recently my husband and I have been here twice during their Happy Hour which is dine-in only during the weekdays between 3-6PM. 50% off select rolls (it changes) 50% off appetizers (tempura, salmon collar, gyoza, popcorn chicken...) $1 off select food (baked green mussels, California Rolls, fried calamari, Dynamite...) Beer specials, shots, sake, wine, well drinks are also on special. The rolls are made to order (not pre-made). The tempura comes out super hot and fresh. We always get good service here (only dined in here). We went there for dinner tonight and we saw the waiter/manager talk to a young couple and literally yell at them. They had complained to the fact that the pricing on the menu was wrong. It was in regards to a bottle of sake that was showing a price of eight dollars and they build them for 9.95. The couple asked why are you charging me 9.95 and he said well the prices vary in change. The couple said why didn't you tell us. The manager/waiter started yelling saying it's posted everywhere. The couple said why didn't you tell us that we were ordering was going to be such a such price. He said yelling even more you should not worry about that and read the signs we don't have time to explain all the prices. The couple said we are not paying that price, then the waiter said I'm calling the police call the police and started yelling at the restaurant called the police. Please do not go to this restaurant and let the owner know why. It was such a horrible experience the young couple was so sad with a young little one month old baby the young girl was crying and we literally left with a stomach ache.
