I reached out via email to schedule an assessment for a leaking water heater. My landlord hires general maintenance people who never fix anything properly and I was looking for an assessment to better help me in my effort to convince him that A. There is an issue and B. Great company! We had Danny G come out to our home to estimate the work to replace our old and broken water heater. The water heater was upstairs and we thought it would cost a lot more, but it was very reasonable. Danny G was very polite, professional and thoroughly explained everything. It was a lot of work, especially taking the old one downstairs and bringing the new one up. If you have to have your water heater replaced and it has to go through the house, I recommend putting down plenty of tarps. The work was done quickly and even thought the new water heater was installed, the thermopile was faulty and Danny G replaced it at no additional cost. Nothing short of amazing. Fidelity Home Warranty sent people to my home when my pilot light wouldn't ignite. They suggested replacement but informed me that I would have to have custom-built cabinetry installed before I owned the house, removed, and re-installed. It would have been terribly expensive. I called around. I spoke with three businesses getting quotes for each. WHO was the lowest-price. They offered Water Heaters that aren't Rheem. I started to research, Bradford and White are long-standing, have good reviews, and a better warranty. The other companies said they would try to remove the water heater without removing the cabinets. The others suggested they would need two men to do the job. WHO said they could do it in 4 hours with one man. I was doubtful. Then came install day. And Marcus showed up. Professional, courteous, kind, fun, personable, AND CAPABLE. This guy did SOLO what I was told was a job that was both "impossible" without the suggested modifications to my garage OR required TWO men. And all the while I would come out and check on him from time to time to make sure he had water and was welcome to use the restroom if he needed it. I'd crack jokes. He'd laugh. We'd laugh. He reviewed all my options, and I also mentioned that the pilot was out on my stove yesterday..unable to light it and no gas smell. Called them again for a problem with the controller on my gas heater. Was told it was still under 6 year warrantee and that they would schedule a service call today. The same technician installer (Tony) from 6 years ago was sent. I reviewed Tony 6 years ago and I thought he did a great job then. Once again he arrived as scheduled on time. UPDATE: Manager David called me this morning to discuss my review. He explained that when he investigated my case, he was surprised by the part cost too and dug into the issue. He found some price discrepancies with his suppliers and is looking into the supply chain so as this type of thing doesn't happen again. That's progress. He also has offered to refund my initial callout fee which is much appreciated. It's always nice when a company responds to bad reviews in the right way and corrects issues and looks into changing the way things are done so as to avoid similar issues in the future. Was really hoping for the best...but alas, it was not. While they were able to come out next day to take a look at my water heater, they fell FAR short on dealing with the problem. Firstly, they took all my details when I called, including model number and serial number. We also discussed the problem and were both sure it was the gas control valve. Upon arrival, the tech confirmed that it was indeed the valve. Now despite discussing the model of my heater AND assuring me that they will be able to repair it next day...they did not have the part on the truck...how does that happen? You knew what model you were coming to fix! Ok, so now I've shelled out $65 for a service call but they don't have the parts and can't fix the issue...so further days with hot water are forthcoming, NOT ideal but hey, let's get this done. I asked for the estimate. They quoted me at $655 for the parts and labor plus ANOTHER $89 for a 2nd callout fee. WTF??? I also then specifically asked what the price of the new valve was. I was told it's was $325. Of course I then checked amazon and found the part for $130. That's some mark up I said. Of course the company then tried to cover it up by saying that it's not the same part and my heater requires a more "sophisticated" part which is why it costs more. I declined their quote. After consulting the internet and another plumbing supplies company, I ascertained that the part I found on amazon was in fact the RIGHT part. They reacted very quickly to our situation, however, we ended up being disappointed with our experience for other reasons. Because we have 9 other water heaters to soon replace in our multi-family apartment bldg, we will now be needing to look elsewhere for the following reasons: 1) Last December in anticipation of future water heater replacement needs, I called & spoke to Kristen who suggested we set up a commercial account, which I was told would give us a $200-300 commercial discount off of a price range of $1800-2300 (parts & labor). She transferred me to Scott who took care of this for me so we could be all prepared. Then when we did have an issue several months later, Kristen said they couldn't find our account & Scott had left the company so they can't do any discount this time but can only do it next time. 2) Once the plumber arrived with the new water heater, our final quote was $4770 because of the leaking water heater being in a difficult spot. We didn't want to inconvenience the tenant any further & we approved the quote, as we did all their quotes along the way. The plumber seemed to do an excellent job. Looking online, the water heater & required part retails with tax for $1376 & their plumber was here for 2.5 hours. We're more than happy to pay a good & fair wage but it seems a bit high. 3) They said they cannot give us an itemized invoice for our records. (I had paid by credit card & had to email them & call them 5 times, when I didn't receive promised callbacks, over almost 4 weeks before I finally received a call back with this determination.) 4) Although our new Pergo laminate floors were damaged in a couple spots, as I told David, the manager, I know it wasn't intentional & a difficult job so I'm not too concerned with that because we can always have it repaired. Meanwhile the water heater is in an exterior closet that was easily accessible, the technician took 90 min to install it, and the water heater itself only cost 600. So you charged me 1300 for 90 min of work. You did so bc you came late in the day and you knew we would pay and when you saw our home you knew we could pay. And as for the technician he was paid a commission - as shared w us by your staff - which seems odd for what others would consider an hourly service. I found out today that my water heater bought in 2003 is leaking water at the base. Before it was working flawlessly. I called Water Heaters Only and got it replaced within an hour or two. Tony came; he was the same technician that installed it in 2003. He did a great job putting up the new one, with new pipes, valves etc. He also included a drain pan under the water heater. When my brother pointed out to me the water heater should costs about $700, I started checking out the one installed as I paid $1400+ for product and installation. Before I had no problems with the Rheem water heaters so I always trusted that the right model would be installed. Then I noticed it was a Bradford White. I checked the consumer reviews and web reviews and it is thumbs down on Bradford White: expensive, complex maintenance, does not last as long and would need a replacement after 6 years or so or sooner. I called Water Heaters Only and spoke with Paul. He assured me that the Bradford will be less troublesome than Rheem and they stand behind it. Due to California regulations to install an Ultra Low Ox water heater, the water heaters have gone up in price and are not intended to last for a long time. Also it would need regular flushing. My 15-16 year old 40 gallon tank finally bit the bullet over the weekend. I was unsure of if I wanted to go tankless or do another tank water heater. It's hard to believe that this company has ANY 4-5 star ratings. Lori quoted us a ballpark range of $2000-2500 to replace and install a 50 gallon water heater with a drip pan, and cart away the old one. When the technician arrived (who if I was rating individually would get 5 stars), he mentioned he didn't have a 50 gallon and would have to check the warehouse. They had one but NOW THE PRICE WAS DOUBLED!!! Over 4 grand! WTF!!! I called back Lori and she played dumb. She actually told the technician/plumber a totally different story. I make allowances for people making a mistake, but outright lying is inexcusable. Shame on this company. Oh..and be aware, if they show up and don't do the job, they TRY to stick you for 65 Bucks. O.K., although I did not get off on the right foot with this company, or may I say just one person -- no name needs to be mentioned, but may I suggest that anyone, who does business with anyone, get all costs down on paper before they seal the deal. Best to have no assumptions if you want it all to work out for you. You can ask all the questions you want and get all the answers and confirmations you get, but get it all down on paper. Our HOA had the misfortune to have two Commercial 100 gallon water heaters go out on the building/us at about the same time -- so much for built in obsolescence - it is alive and works very well. Fabian was the gentleman installer sent out by Water Heaters Only and he was excellent! He was patient and an absolute professional and along with what I mentioned previously, a gentleman. Initially, when he first came just before 10 am after looking at the job and gave me the estimate, I flipped out. Called this am to request a water heater replacement, after finding the company on Angie's List. I hadn't looked here. I was quoted $1,300 - $1,500 after I provided the serial # and model of my current gas water heater. When I mentioned that we had a recirculation pump attached, the company representative told me that would be covered by the high-end of his quote. When Mark showed up, he quoted me $2,200, and told me that the guys in the office don't know what it costs (then why have them provide an estimate at all?), and he'd asked them not to be unrealistic with customers. What?! Mark then said we would probably need an expansion tank, which no one else had mentioned after we'd gone through 3 water heaters already (we've lived in our house for some time). He wasn't able to clarify why it might be needed, and although I asked why he thought that had never come up before, I didn't expect him to explain (he didn't, and I didn't press him). Finally, when we talked about the cost, and I mentioned that I understood (from a response the Company posted to a review in Angie's List) that the service fee for showing up ($159) would be applied to the total bill, Mark said no, it would not be. He then said he'd charge me the service fee, plus materials, plus his labor (all 3, as he ticked them off on his fingers). That sounded like a minimum of $2,359. I asked him what he'd do if he were in my shoes and had been told the conflicting information I'd received, and he said he'd get estimates from other companies. It seemed clear that he wasn't interested in doing the work, so I helped him with that issue. My water heater pilot light was out. The ignition switch was broken. I called and asked if they can replace the ignition switch. They said they would need to replace the entire control valve but the good news was that my heater was "still under warranty". They quoted $175 to come and diagnose and the labor would be about $300 but the part was under warranty. Total price around $475. Note that the valve would cost about $200 if I wanted to replace it myself. I drove to Plumbing City and picked up the ignition switch for $15 and replaced it myself in less than 2 minutes. Heater works fine now and no need to replace the valve. Another attempt of getting ripped off avoided. NONE of these service companies can be trusted. read more

The lady on the phone was extremely​ impatient and RUDE and refused to send someone to come and check out my water heater. She talked like, "uh. well. I can't send someone there unless we know we can fix the problem for sure." Um...how would I know if you can fix the problem for sure if (a) I am not the plumber in the conversation, else I won't need to call you, and (b) I don't know your ability to fix something, so that's why I need you to come out...make sense? On November 6, 2018, my 15-year old water heater decided to rust through and leak about a half inch of water in my house couple of weeks ago. Quickly, my trusty phone lead me to Yelp and to Water Heaters Only, where I spoke to a really nice woman on the phone who explained that water heaters have about a 10-15 year life span. She let me know that a new one would be about $1,600 - $2,000 depending on the size and condition of the connections at my house, and that she could dispatch an installer in the next 30 minutes. How could I not, with their excellent Yelp ratings!? In about 25 minutes, Fabian came out and quickly let me know that a new one, that is now 10 gallons larger than my broken one, would be $1,650. Since I am adding a second bathroom, I appreciated the extra capacity and was happy to sign the contract and have him very quickly remove the old unit and install the new one.
