My family & I stumbled upon this little gem! We'd been in Hawaii for a few days and our parents were craving for some comforting Chinese food so decided to stop by for dinner. We're so happy that we decided to give On On a try because it is now a spot that we will return to the next time we're in Hawaii and craving for some authentic Chinese food. All of the dishes we ordered were flavorful & hit the spot. Ingredients were fresh & the owner helped is pick a veggie dish especially since she mentioned they didn't have certain vegetables due low inventory as a result of the floods. I especially liked the salt & pepper chicken wings! Sooooo crispy! The food wasn't overly salty and didn't have too much MSG as we didn't wake up dying of thirst the next day. We spoke with the owners after our meal and found out that they've been open for over 20 years!

I love cake noodles and have tried MANY . On On remains the BEST CAKE NOODLE for texture, depth and taste. In fact, all crispy fried menu items that we tried were On Point : Gau Gee, Lemon Chicken, Shrimp Canton. My brother was happy with the Combo plate & I ordered Crispy Gau Gee Mein with cake noodles. (The proprietors are happy to cook what you want even if it's not on the menu. My favorite is Roast Duck Cake Noodle with Choi Sum)

Still consistently good. Tonight we had Sam see mein , clam with black bean and sweet sour pork. Tonight we're taking home Jai. I had it last week. So good and reasonably priced.

Rediscovered On On Chinese Restaurant after 8 years. On On was one of my dad's favorite restaurants. Haven't been back since he passed. Located on Kapahulu at Charles St.. Private parking lot with two designated stalls for the restaurant. The mauka (North) bound traffic on Kapahulu Ave. can be quite busy, but there is a traffic signal at the entrance to Safeway plaza, just a half a block makai (South). This allows for patrons to safely turn into the On On parking lot. Mind you, there is an entrance on Charles St., however, it is not open all the time. Best to stick to the one on Kapahulu. If you prefer, head makai (South) on 6th Ave. Turn on Olu St. and make a right on Kapahulu. The parking lot entrance is just a few feet away. The Gov't shutdown has a lot of people tightening up the purse strings and it was 11am, so it's not surprising to see the restaurant empty of diners. There were takeout orders waiting to be picked up though. That's a good sign. The dining room is spotless. Everything is so clean and tidy. Very inviting. Onto the food. I ordered the combo A, (I posted a pic of it.) from a few weeks ago. The lemon chicken was crispy and the lemon sauce was nice and tangy. The beef in the beef broccoli was super tender and the broccoli was cooked but still had a little snap to the stem. Wonderful. The shrimp canton, ok, now we all know that deep fried items tend to get soft as they sit, especially in a sauce, but this one remained crunchy throughout the meal, which got started about 45 minutes after picking it up. So good! The fried rice was fabulously tasty. I like my fried rice a little crispy burnt and the kitchen staff did a great job. No, I didn't special request it that way. Second time back, I had to get the fried rice as it was so memorable I needed to have it again....soon! It was sublime!I also ordered the mabo tofu for mom. Of course I need to taste it. I ordered it medium spicy, but it really wasn't. All good though. It was very nice. MK has stiff competition now for mom's Sunday lunches. I am going back again this Sunday. What to order next?!? Look for more photos to see what I ordered!

Since we were in the area picked up A couple of plate lunches. Combo B for me and combo A for my wife. Easily picked up our take out order. My wife and I thought that the lunches were good but nothing in our lunches stood out Enjoy

Cute little spot next to Ululani's shave ice. Small, free parking lot. Friendly service and good Cantonese (?) food menu. We tried the oxtail soup, chicken with salty fish fried rice, and fish filet with ginger/scallion sauce. The fish was delicious but portion a little on the small side. Fried rice was good but needed more salty fish. Oxtail soup very flavorful and delicious. Also ordered a side of broccoli with garlic sauce that was tasty. Only giving 4 stars bc some prices seemed high for smaller portions. Would go back and try other dishes.

8-16-25. Haven't been here in awhile and since we were in kapahulu safeway area my husband said we go and pick up lunch at on on Chinese. Called it in a withing a few minutes was ready. Came home and looked at the plate it was plentiful for me and my husband. The fried rice to me was good the lemon chicken was thin and was missing something maybe the lemon sauce drizzle. The shrimp canton was good liked the flavor and as well as the beef broccoli. My husband said it was okay for him.

Located in a strip mall right off of Kapahulu with lots of free parking. Food is ALWAYS on on point delicious. Been coming here for over 20 years. Can't believe it took me this long to write a review. Although a smaller sized restaurant, don't let that fool you. It's clean and service is excellent. Some of our favorites include: Walnut Shrimp, Salt Pepper Pork, Minute Chicken Cake Noodles, and Duck. During our dinner here tonight, their take out orders kept coming in non stop and the restaurant was packed! That should say something. Pro Tip: If there's a football/basketball game playing, it will probably be on the big screen tv.

Today I have tried the bittermelon plate and it was great. A healthy food at a chinese restaurant. The workers had a strong accent as the english was a second language. Nevertheless, once I got to talking with them a little I have found the workers to be very helpful and friendly.

Unfortunately, it was one of the biggest disappointments of my vacation. The Singapore crab completely missed the mark. Instead of the rich, savory, slightly sweet and spicy flavor I was expecting, it tasted like it was covered in plain tomato sauce with very little seasoning. There was no depth or authentic flavor at all. The salted egg yolk wings were just as disappointing. They were incredibly bland and lacked the rich, buttery, savory salted egg flavor that makes this dish so popular. I honestly don't understand why these are recommended as signature dishes. I came in with high expectations based on the reviews, but left wondering why anyone would recommend such bland, overly saucy food. There are far better places to experience authentic Singapore-style flavors. Worst meal of our trip.

The first thing I saw when I walked in was the owner making dumplings by hand. That immediately gave me the feeling I was in the right place. Growing up I watched my own Mom make our version of dumplings, so seeing that kind of care and craftsmanship felt familiar. The owner was warm and very welcoming, and as each dish was completed she brought it out fresh from the kitchen, which gave me a chance to taste the food while it was still steaming. It was hot, but I could not stop myself from sampling it :) Everything I ordered was delicious and clearly made fresh. I'll be honest though, watching the dumplings being prepared right in front of me was a real highlight. I'm sure that some of you out there can relate to this. I also had the chance to meet owner's mother and another gentleman who I believe may have been family, which added to the welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant is small, but it did not feel rushed.
