Nice little cafe in the heart of Lancaster with the feel of the past, old wooden chairs and tables. Service was prompt and attentive. Food was good, egg with Canadian bacon and cheese on a soft roll. The coffee was one of the best cups I ever had, extremely flavorful without being too strong. read more

At the suggestion of a friend, I was told to check this place out for breakfast. The wait for two wasn't terribly long (10 mins) on a Sunday for brunch. They don't have a liquor license so no mimosas for me; bummer. The menu doesn't boost a large selection, but there are thoughtful details and some real healthy choices. Fortunately, we were sat by an open window, but I might imagine the place getting uncomfortably warm in the dead of summer. read more

My father and I enjoy breakfast together at On Orange with regularity. The food is always excellent and their coffee is perfectly strong! The owner and staff are very attentive and kind. The atmosphere is a lovely combination of simple and homey. Of course we have our old standby's we order but are always deliciously surprised with the steam table special or omelet special of the week which are inventive. I never hesitate to recommend On Orange, it is our favorite breakfast spot! read more

Our breakfast at On Orange was exceptional. We had oatmeal pancakes with lemony apple slices and maple syrup. I had 2 pancakes which was very filling. The service was excellent. The menu was unique with more than just the standard fare for reasonable prices. Somewhat small restaurant but two levels and outside seating. Parking is on the street and paid by meter. Adorable local brunch spot but beware you'll be waiting for a bit during peak times in the morning. Luckily I was armed with a Dunkin coffee while I sat/stood outside. On Orange has both upstairs and downstairs seating. We sat downstairs and I ordered the Philly cheesesteak omelet, and shared a swedish pancake. Delicious homey food and great service - people are friendly and nice (one waiter mistaken me for a girl he went to high school with). Food is consistent and exceptional. Everything I've ever had is good. The Indian omlette has curry in the eggs with sharp cheddar onions and spicy Indian Chiles. The grilled cheese has 24 year aged cheddar and is the best I've ever had. The Swedish pancakes are the best you'll have. They're always busy so I suggest an early breakfast or take out. great little breakfast joint in downtown lancaster. came here saturday to meet friends and we had a great meal together. daughter had swedish pancakes with warm apples and the bit i tried was awesome. i had coffee and the peasant omelette which had tomoatoes, potatoes, cheese, and onions. very good and huge. you can have your choice of hashbrowns or tomatoes. tomatoes as a side, you ask? yes, you should get them. they were very simple roasted tomatoes but had a great flavor and were a nice, light side. service was very friendly, they kept the coffee refills a-comin and food was delicious. they also serve little cookies at the end of the meal - what's not to love about that? we sat upstairs but the restroom is located on the basement/ground floor so i went down there. next time i want to sit down there! so cute...exposed brick/stone and there's a fireplace down there. so neat. read more

Yum!! What an awesome little spot in downtown Lancaster. The waffles are uniquely outstanding - especially with the Carmine and David's ice cream. My wife, the omelette connoisseur actually said the omelette special with pulled pork was the best she has ever had. Service was informative and attentive. Just had breakfast for the first time here, and everything about it - food, service, decor and overall vibe - was truly excellent. I had a western omelet with roasted cherry tomatoes and potatoes and it could not have been improved on. I requested they make the omelet with two eggs instead of three and go light on the onions and they happily accomodated. Even the multigrain toast that came with it was unusually good, AND while I normally don't put jams or jellies on my toast, they actually had apple butter among their options (it was delicious). Add to that my server's attentiveness and quiet, soothing voice and I couldn't think of a more pleasant, relaxing way to start my day. I look forward to coming back. read more

Very cute place. It's a nice addition to the area. Their menu is fun and they try to capture favorites from different places. We tried the muffaletta, which has its origins in New Orleans. It was good and tasty, but nothing beats the real thing. Chilequiles had great flavor and decent heat. The sauce should be more of a paste than a soup and the chips were too soggy. They should be saturated but still crunchy. Try a thicker chip. We're from San Diego so we know. :) Great coffee, but individual creamers missed the mark. Such a cute place should have little cream dispensers per table. We sound constructive but only because this place has favorite breakfast potential. We'll be back! read more

Happened upon this place while doing some holiday shopping in Lancaster. What a FANTASTIC find. The place is adorable, the people running the place are wonderful and the food is awesome! We had the pleasure of being waited on by Joan who was the sweetest and nicest person EVER! My daughter had cream chipped beef, hubs had a spinach florentine omelet and I had 'The Old Standby' which was eggs, potatoes and roasted tomatoes (YUM) and bacon. Everything was fresh and delicious. On top of that, when they bring you the check, you get oatmeal raisin cookies! They were also very good. Joan said they get them from the Central Market which is about a block up the street. Immediately upon leaving, we went there and got more cookies to bring home! A great experience. Will be back! read more

I bookmarked this place a while back because I've been wanting to try it. After continuous gentle nagging, my SO and I came here today for brunch. The main floor is clean and quaint, with beautiful natural lighting coming in through the windows. There is also seating downstairs, where we ended up sitting. But to be honest, I would have preferred the main floor area--better lighting and cleaner looking. We both got coffee and an omelet--he got the florentine and I got the Indian omelet with a mix of potatoes and tomatoes on the side and 7-grain bread. The omelets were generously sized and good. I was warned that the Indian omelet was spicy. Pfffft It wasn't spicy at all! It was salty more than anything. But then again...I have been told that I am basically immune to spiciness. I can drink hot sauce like juice. So...maybe I'm not the best person to gage spiciness for the general public. Anyway! I am a bread lover and this 7-grain bread was delish. I loved it. I also loved the service. Fast and good with refilling drinks and checking up on customers. In particular, the woman who checked up on us made our experience quite pleasant. But do you know what the best part is? They bring you cookies with the check! COOKIES! They gave us 2 oatmeal raisin cookies from Wendy Jo's and they were good. It's the most pleasant way to receive your bill. Come and try this place out and get your free cookie! read more

Would not change a thing about this place or our meal. Swedish pancakes have ruined me for all others. They are somehow hearty and light at the same time. Flavorful and soak up the squeeze bottle of real maple syrup perfectly. I would have loved more more more of the stewed apples. The indian omelet. Need I say more? it is simple and deliciously spiced. Magically, they make simple roasted grape tomatoes taste like a slice of focaccia bread. A hint of garlic and a waft of rosemary hidden in each bite. Perfectly cooked potatoes. (and yes- i got both because our masterful server offered half and half). kids scrambled eggs were kids scrambled eggs. not much more to say there. Chipped beef over potatoes. We got this as standard tourist food. When in Lancaster, eat the chipped beef so we did. With a splash of their fiery green hot sauce, these were a travelers good friend. Filling and comforting. The coffee, which never seemed to be empty (same goes for water), was the highlight of our morning. So much so that we left On Orange and headed straight to the Lancaster Central Market to pick up some at Lancaster County Coffee Roasters. mmm The server we had was like a small and fast magician. She was juggling a full house of folks on a busy saturday morning and managed to make us all feel important and well cared for. it was as if she was having us over her home and was letting us in on her little secret food world. The bill came to us nestled in among 4 fresh, oatmeal raisin cookies. We were full to the brim but taking a sip of magical coffee helped coax that treasure down into my gullet too. a magical meal. cant wait to go back. read more

Here for brunch with another adult and a 4 year old. Specialty omelet this day that I had was a slow roasted beef omelet with provolone and potatoes. Everything is made fresh and delicious. I must say I was so incredibly pleased with On Orange. The servers worked in a tag team with us and we were never left hanging, but didn't feel nagged either. The swedish pancakes were awesome. I would go again just for them! Very pleasant meal. Only dinged a star because of the building and bathroom. The walls downstairs had some pretty big nasty holes in them and the bathrooms are so tiny. Do not go here if you are claustrophobic. No joke! read more

My wife and I came to On Orange for breakfast recently. The place is small, but comfortable. Let me start by saying that service is top notch. We were seated promptly and our tea/coffee order was taken as we were handed the menus. That is not too rushed for us. Also, I noticed that the chef/cook delivered the food once done if the wait staff was not at the ready. No cold plates here. My wife ordered the two Swedish pancakes and I ordered the Chilaquiles. Both were promptly served and were hot. The pancakes were very large and the oats added a nice texture to the pancake. Although the syrup was real syrup, the quality was so-so. And the bacon was OK, nothing special. I don't know if the option was available, but adding chocolate chips to the pancake batter would have made it over the top. I wasn't sure what to expect with the Chilaquiles, but it has chorizo sausage so I ordered it. I would characterize it almost as a thick soup with two eggs sitting on top, but it was very good. Just the right amount of spice and quite filling. Our bill came quickly and the two cookies that came with it was a nice touch. To make On Orange a 5-star, I recommend they offer chocolate chips for the pancakes, upgrade the syrup and add applewood smoked bacon. I suspect if they do, we'll all have trouble getting into the place. read more

Service was friendly and fast. The food was just ok. I got an omelette that was fine but it was under seasoned for my taste. The toast again was just fine. My order of side potatoes was a bit cold and again just not very exciting or seasoned in any way that I haven't had before. To be honest I'd say the food is about as good as Bob Evans. I'm surprised at the exceptionally high ratings, I thought perhaps the bread and hot chocolate would be home made but they didn't taste it. I wasn't disappointed though! Ate breakfast here for the first time and definitely going back! The food was excellent and fresh. I had the best florentine omelette I've ever had here. I could taste each ingredient, the spinach, provolone cheese, mushrooms, and eggs. Usually a regular diner's omelets I can't taste every ingredient, but here, it was awesome. Also tried the waffle. I'm so used to eating waffles with a certain flavor that when i bit into this one, i said it tasted "healthy". After one bite though, tried a second bite and was in love with it. It was light, tasty, and didn't need to be drowned in syrup. Friendly service, friendly staff, and quaint place. More seating downstairs so don't be fooled right when you walk in and see a line.
