Two movers arrived on time, George and I didn't get the second movers name, but my move was a little bigger than expected. However, they both moved all my items, even after realizing this was going to take longer. I didn't have a lot of things but my furniture is heavy solid pieces. Movers from the beginning were confused my doorman gave them clear instructions on how to come into my building my doorman was worried for me and I felt second hand embarrassment for them as my building had to tell them multiple times how to get started they even called me with confusion on what to do and I had to get maintenance workers to help them. We all thought this was there first time moving someone when they finally arrived to my apartment, be prepared for a 30 min early or later appointment then what you asked I was expecting them at 10 they came at 10:30, they weren't even going to shrink wrap the items until we told them too. They verbally told us they charge for blankets they later decided to give it to us for free but they do charge for blankets that's not a lie, the movers moved very slow from getting from my apartment to the storage unit and even at the storage facility I physically moved containers and boxes to get them to move faster since they charge by the hour they want as much money as they can get: if I haven't spoken up for myself I'd probably still be there now waiting for them to put my items in storage they don't bubble wrap your items I even USED MY OWN SUPPLIES, Saran wrapped my items sat on the floor and cover it myself as the mover stood there and watched me do it just be warned on that if you are to use this service..I won't be using them again. read more

I booked Ondemand for my move after reading all the positive reviews. Unfortunately I did not have the same experience many others have had and wanted to share. George and two others moved me in February, during the mask mandate, and one of the movers showed up without a mask. Masks were required in my building, so he had to leave (while the clock was running) to go purchase a mask. While loading, George insisted on removing the feet from my couch, after I asked him not to and told him I had moved the couch many times without the feet ever being removed. He claimed they needed to be removed for "safety". When they unwrapped the couch, they were unable to reattach the feet and they left the couch with no feet on it. It took me the rest of the day and a couple of trips to the hardware store to figure out how to rig them up to reattach them. Beyond the couch, there were chips on a marble table top and they lost hardware on an antique dresser. They were inconsistent in what furniture they wrapped with blankets and plastic - some were wrapped very thoroughly and some were not wrapped at all. They were very inefficient moving out of my 12th floor apartment and it took them several trips to figure out that they should move items out of the apartment near the elevator, fully load the elevator, and then go down to the loading dock. So much time was wasted with their inefficiency. They didn't do a final sweep to make sure they got everything and I had to move several items out into the hall to ensure they had. George was a poor communicator with an unpleasant demeanor. I had to go down to the loading dock to see if they were finished and make sure he knew where to go at my new place because he never told me they were finished loading. He was very rude when he asked if I would like to leave a tip, and I told him I would not because he broke my couch. I always believe in trying to let the business owner make the situation right before leaving a negative review, so I reach out to Mike, the owner of the company. He asked for specific times to reach me, and each time I gave him a window of time, he did not call. He said that he called me over a weekend, but I did not have any calls during that time - I went back and double checked my call log to make sure I didn't miss the call. My last communication with him was that I was available that day to talk and he never called or responded to my email. Overall the worst experience with movers that I have ever had and extremely disappointing the way the owner of the company handled my feedback. read more

It was a great price overall as I had a ton of stuff and was on the 3rd floor! There were 4-5 guys helping and they barely took any breaks! They wore masks and made sure all my concerns were met. Scheduling was a breeze, people on phone were responsive and easy to get a hold of, estimate came in at lower cost than others. Three movers arrived on time as scheduled. It was a REALLY hot day and stairs were involved. We underestimated how much stuff we had (our fault) and required a second trip. The movers and the move was pretty smooth and the movers where pretty cool.. but they had accidentally dropped my glass for the top of my dresser.. so now I have to buy a new one... according to the contract they have to pay .60 cents per pound so they had broke 30 pounds of glass... means .60 x 30 = $18 I'm getting back for $175 worth of glass.... they called me after my review and made it right so I definitely didn't mind changing my review... down to earth people but it was my risk because every moving company charges the same rates for broken items.. These gentlemen were excellent. I found them randomly through Google and followed the Yelp link because they had such high reviews and now I know why. These guys worked fast and diligent and you felt you could trust them with your items. They sealed my TVs and furniture and moved them carefully, even did so with boxes marked fragile. Just make sure you keep up and tell them what to take if it's not obvious because they get you out and in and they almost left some of my things lol. Bless these men because I moved from the second floor to third floor and I don't know how they did it. I'm so sorry I didn't have any water to offer lol. First of all you are extremely exaggerating on the additional number of boxes need. My husband and I purchased around 10 more boxes, not 70! My clothes were in plastic bags, but your movers stated they had to be boxed which required more boxes than leaving in plastic garbage bags. As for moving into another unit. The unit was in the same building but over a couple of units. If you are moving furniture and other household items. Why would my husband request a pick up truck? That doesn't make since and I know he did not request a pick up truck to move a 3 bedroom unit. I will stand by what I said, in the previous review and only removed it because I was trying to be nice and not hurt your business. It had nothing to do with threating me with legal action. But, I won't get back into that. Yes, I have a lot of clothes. I have a business as well as a reseller. So, your workers moving a lot of clothes relates to my business. Just as you have a business to operate. As, I said, it was a last minute move due to a fire. If your workers were not equipped to take on the job, you should have turned it down. It was disclosed of everything we were moving upon coming to an agreement. You were paid very well by our insurance company to take on the job you agreed to do. Update: Your movers had plenty of walking space in the apartment. My clothes were not in there walkway as you stated. You just want to start making up stuff now I see. My clothes had to be moved around due to the firefighters having to enter the unit. You are extremely unprofessional going back and forth with me because, I was not happy with your movers. You were not even there and we never spoke to you when we set this up. While you are speaking like you were one of the movers. My husband initially spoke to a lady when we set up the moving date and we called her back when your mover got there asking her why they only sent a pickup truck to move a 3 bedroom apartment. Your company made the call to use a pick up truck because we said, we were moving to another apartment unit in the same building. It's not our fought you all did not understand our address was the same for the one building and just a different apartment unit down from the one we were in. I won't continue to go back forth with you on this. No matter what you say I was not happy with the service your movers provided. It's just that simple. Highly recommend this company - I had a semi short turnaround for booking and they responded with a quote very quickly. All three of the movers (one was the owner) were very sweet and great to work with. The final leg of the move was up three very awful-for-movers flights of stairs and they did it in no time. Prices are very reasonable and explained up front so you know exactly what all the planned costs are as well as unexpected stuff that pops up. Let me start by saying that you should not under any circumstances book these movers, save yourselves the trouble and go with any of the other hundreds of movers in Chicago. Mike and his team showed up at our apartment and when I went to bring him to our third floor, as I communicated with Ninu many times, he said they were unaware that it was a third floor move and his men were too tired to do the move. He and his team then left without offering any alternative options or recommendations and left myself and roommate to have to scramble to compete the move ourselves. Mike was extremely unprofessional stating that "his men had been doing moves for the past three days and physically were too tired to help." While we were sympathetic to the fact that it had been a long day and the move was strenuous (as my roommate and 60 year old dad found out when we had to move everything ourselves for the next 8 hours into the early hours of the morning), simply do not book any jobs that will be beyond the scope of what your personnel are capable of. I am attempting to prevent anyone else from having the same extremely negative experience we had with OnDemand Movers and am confident that I will never use or recommend this company to anyone ever again. I just want to reiterate how unprofessional and disappointing our experience was with this company, do yourself a favor and book with a company that has a crew that is not too tired to complete the contractually agreed upon move! read more
