My mom and I went to this place near where I live in Los Angeles County. She has tried this place before. It is like a dim sum Chinese food type of place. We tried the dumplings and their famous pork shu Mai. I thought it was okay, but the restaurant praises it. We also ordered the vegetable dumpling. It was better and tasted awesome. There were customers to the right and left of us, and they ordered the pot sticker and some soup in a bowl that smelled amazing. I should have ordered it but didn't. The food didn't quite fill me up, and it was about 30$ which us way more expensive than dim sum in LA for the quantity. We got about 18 total dumplings. They also serve Chinese food as well, but we didn't order it. It looks like Panda Express from the pictures online. The interior is quaint and has a narrow seating area. The service was average to be honest. They didn't seem happy at their job. We did however, arrive at about 2:45 PM and they close at 3 PM. It could have caused an annoyance. But we left at around 3:05 PM. The other customers were still there so that's kind of a problem I believe from the employees. They reopen at night for dinner around 6 PM. After we ate, we went to church. The price and quality were decent. I enjoyed the filling, warmth and comfort of delicious dumplings. It was a tad salty but I washed it down with the tap water. I honestly do not understand the great reviews. The pork and cabbage potstickers had almost no flavor. The sauce tasted like dark brown vinegar (not even vinegar mixed with soy). The vegetable spring rolls literally had no flavor. The menu said the edamame had sea salt - there was not any salt on them. The cucumbers are wilted and gross looking. The best thing we had was the oddly bright yellow cream cheese wontons but I am leery about eating them since they look like they were dipped in yellow food coloring. Food was good not great but good, my favorite were the dim sum however the shrimp and pork shao mai is on the smaller side. I figure the restaurants name says it all, "one bite dumplings " meaning bite size dim sum? Ahaha that's just my take on the dim sum they were all bite size. I'd say this is a pretty good place for a drop in for dim sum if you don't want to travel to Alhambra and surrounding area for dim sum. Although the food is good I am giving this place one star because of the cocky attitude of the manager. The service is terrible especially if you ask them to make slight changes to certain items. I always ask for spicy shrimp chow mien but today for some reason she refused to accommodate my request. The food came out cold! I asked what drinks they had and she said "everything is down there" pointing to the iPad. I initially began placing my order on the iPad but she stopped me and asked me to verbally tell her what I wanted. In order to tell her I had to check the menu on the iPad and that irritated her. Went here on a Sunday morning as I craved for dumplings and Ive been wanting to go here to try their dishes. Its an hour drive away from our house but I must say its worth it. I love the dumplings and the shrimp fried rice. The baos were also good. I didnt like the super spicy numbing beef soup that much but it wasnt bad at all. The soup portion was huge though. I found this little dumpling spot after my massage right next door. It was busy and it has great reviews so I decided to give it a try. They offer a good variety of dumplings and cooked dishes plus some dim sum here. I asked the owner (I presume the Asian younger guy at the counter was the owner) what the best dumpling to try and he said the pork soup dumplings. I was by myself and not very hungry so I couldn't order a ton of food. I ordered the pork soup dumplings to try. The order comes with 8 pieces for $12.99. All the soup dumplings are made fresh to order in front of you to watch. They came out fresh and piping hot in about 10 minutes. They were filled with the delicious pork soup! The skin was thin but not the thinnest soup dumpling skin I've had. Overall they were good. I also asked for some fresh ginger too. They offer free soy sauce, vinegar and chili sauce at the table but you need to ask for the ginger if you want it. They didn't charge for it. I was looking at the other tables food as the orders came and everything looks good. Portion sizes were good for sharing too. Overall a great spot for dumplings! Easily one of the best places in town. Its not expensive, food tastes great, and the service is top notch. Friday night was my first time in the casual spot. We were greeted with a warm welcome, explanation as to how to order and what to expect. We ordered, and when the food got to the table it smelled delicious. We tried pork and beef dumplings. Unfortunately I have to write my first bad review for one bite dumpling. I have been coming here for sometime now with every experience being great. This time my son and I ordered the Spicy Beef Xiao Long Bao since they are new on the menu. The beef had a really bad sour taste. Almost like it was old. I brought it the the waitresses attention and asked if we could get the original Xiao Long Bao since the ones we received had a sour taste and she stated no because we had already eaten one of them. I explained to her how would we know they were bad if we didn't try them. She said she would talk with the manager but she never came back to our table. I'm sorry but that is very unprofessional and not the way you treat your frequent customers. We will not be returning here and not recommending one bite due to the way they handled this situation. It was a simple fix and they chose to handle it poorly. The meat was bad and they didn't care to come talk with us and fix it. Shame on you one bite. I'm soooo happy we have a dumpling place in the SCV!! One Bite Dumplings is serving up some nice buns and I'm all here for it!!! What I love is that they are straight to the point. You walk in and place your name on their sign up sheet, they seat you, you scan a QR Code and order all your food from your phone and you pay on there as well. It was pretty busy on this Friday night but we only had to wait a good 10mins to be seated. We checked the menu out and we went with the following dishes. Sautéed bok choy, crispy spicy tofu, shrimp har gow and BBQ Pork Buns and the red bean buns. Let me start out the crispy spicy tofu. When they say spicy, they honestly mean it!! It was so good and crispy and delicious and addictive. You cannot stop yourself from coming back for more. The bok choy was the perfect thing to cut through all that spice and give us some greens. The BBQ pork bun was simple and tasty and the shrimp har gow, OMG!!! I can eat like 10 of these. We finished out dinner off with a red bean dumpling and it was the perfect little light dessert we needed. Not too sweet and not bland. I personally (coming from nj/ nyc) have a high standard for dim sum - while this was good i am sad to say I didn't think they were the best dumplings I ever had. For dumpling we ordered shrimp har gow, bbq pork buns, pork long bao - everything was just ok. IMO. However the true star was string bean with garlic (excellent!!) and the chicken chow mein.Really very impressed. Others have mentioned the items aside from dumplings are really the star and I'd have to agree! Maybe they should consider a name change? :) service was very nice and it's easy to order / pay. I'm so sorry to have to write this review, but if I come here starving and the food is not worth eating and overpriced then there is a problem. I definitely will not be back. Today is my second time eating here as it is the most convenient location when driving from NorCal to SoCal - Santa Clarita is the first vestige of civilization after traveling on I-5 south. I'm Chinese by ethnicity and though there are Mandarin-speaking chefs in the back kitchen they aren't making authentic Chinese food. I'm not sure why? For $50 I ordered: 1. A bowl of pork wonton soup. It came with 12 "wontons" stuck to the bottom of the bowl, with watery oily broth that tasted like. . . greasy water. Each wonton literally had 2 grams of a weird processed salty meat paste with a rubbery unappetizing texture inside. I thought it was a mistake, but nope, every single one had the same 2 gram piece of rubbery meat paste inside, like someone measured or squeezed it out like toothpaste and pinched it off (see photos). I was aghast. This literally was the worst "wonton" I have ever been served. This was a rip-off. Let me explain what this wonton missed: Real wontons are handmade of seasoned ground pork and large fresh juicy shrimp. Size-wise they are usually just smaller than a golf ball (about 30-40 grams) and should have a toothsome texture due to the springiness of the shrimp if they are fresh. If I ever eat a mushy shrimp in a restaurant wonton that tells me the cooks used old shrimp. Wontons are one of my benchmark foods for a Chinese restaurant. We used to make these as a family when I was a kid. The ones at this restaurant didn't even have shrimp, and the processed meat paste was truly disgusting. These wontons were inedible and give Chinese cuisine a bad rap. Also, wontons should not be made of the thick dumpling wrappers (those are for the potstickers). Some of the dumpling wrappers were not cooked all the way through, so they would have caused indigestion if I had eaten them. I literally spat out the first bite. A proper dumpling wrapper is thin, and creates a beautifully silky "tail" that is as delicate as it is delicious. The wontons I got were stuck to the bottom of the bowl and to each other in one big piece - this tells me the cooks left the cooked wontons to cool in the bowl and either forgot / didn't add the broth right away. If they added the broth right away the wontons would have stayed separated. I literally picked through everything trying to find something worth eating. The few pieces of bok choy floating in the soup were edible, and I was grateful for those. 2. Bok choy stir fried in garlic - this was $14 or so and both garlic and bok choy were soggy but edible, but without any "wok hey". Properly done, the minced garlic is "bloomed" in the hot oil until slightly crisp and then the bok choy is added. Not here. 3. The mixed bun plate literally came out of the "bun cabinet" where it was kept at tepid temperatures. It was served tepid also. No one wants to eat a cold bao - true Chinese baos are freshly steamed in bamboo steamers and served piping hot. They are never kept in a plastic cabinet and served cold. When I asked the waiter to resteam the bao, his manager (a woman) came to my table and informed me that she had measured the temperature of the bao I sent back and that it was at the proper temperature that they serve all the bao, and that the cook recommended that if I want the bao "extra hot" then they could microwave them for me. This exchange would never happen at an authentic Chinese restaurant. The bao on the char siu bao was powdery and hard, like the kind you get from the frozen section, rather than from handmade dough that once steamed becomes springy and with a wonderful pull-apart texture. In other words, you're paying restaurant prices for bao that you could purchase at 99 Ranch market from the frozen section. The bao served at this restaurant are definitely machine made, frozen, steamed, and served lukewarm. These are processed chinoiserie (Chinese-like) foods, but not the real thing. 4. Edamame - for $5. I didn't want to try these. I just wanted to leave. I always look for something nice to appreciate no matter where I go, and so the one star is for the sincere and kind tall male waiter. He helped me last time when I ate xiao long bao here and I found a hair in one of them. I didn't make a big fuss about it, just asked for a replacement, and he kindly brought me another one. On another bright note, they have a cute stuffed bun display (see photo). Unfortunately, those are inedible, and this is a restaurant, so I won't be coming back. There are authentic Chinese restaurants all over LA. Please go to any Chinese restaurant in Monterey Park and eat there. That's real Chinese food. Do not waste your money coming here, the food here is genuinely terrible. I so wish it wasn't. read more

11/26/22 A solid 3*...no muss no fuss. Hubby & I were in the area after we dropped off an ice machine to a co-worker for her post surgical knee replacement treatment. Lord knows we wouldn't be anywhere near here unless we had to. This is about an hour away north of where we usually go. Good ole Yelp, searched for dimsum places & this was #1 on the list. Definitely not much for aesthetics or comfort, this place is located in a small strip mall. It has about a dozen tables inside. No outdoor dining. NO CASH, contactless payment. It's a matter of preference & I like ordering dimsum off carts that are steaming as they pass your table--this place is not it, where space is limited. Fortunately there was no wait. We're immediately seated as we walked in. Each table has a designated QR code to order your food & you'll pay before it arrives. There's an OPTION to tip, it's not a must. I put 0.0 because I believe in tipping after service is rendered. I ordered XLB-4/5 not piping hot like I expected but the broth & filling is tasty & delicious. Usually when you pop it in your mouth there's that immediate burst of delicious burn-your-tongue flavor. The black vinegar & chili oil complimented the dumplings well. Pork shumai, good, average 3/5. Sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf, 2 per order, the smallest I've ever seen so far, taste is decent, not as flavorful 3/5. The shrimp chow mein, messy looking (see photo) but so good, savory goodness! 4/5. I wish though the noodles could've been more Al dente. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, plump & juicy. During all our visits at One Bite Dumpling, we've consistently ordered our favorites again and again. But today we decided to try the Spicy Pork Wontons -- OH MY GOODNESS!! It's a new favorite added to the list. Seriously delicious! My husband enjoyed it so much that we took an order home. For dessert we tried the Fried Bun. They came out hot with a side of condensed milk for dipping. They were good, but not better than our usuals -- Sesame Balls and Taro Bun. Never thought I'd find great dim sum out of Santa Clarita but Yelp always comes through and shows us the good eats! One Bite Dumplings is great!! We ordered the following togo: 1 order of Sticky Rice Wrapped in Lotus Leaf (comes with two) - It's rare to find this vegan as it usually made with ground pork, salted egg yolk, and Chinese sausage. Its filling contained bean curd skin and mushrooms. Very good flavor from the lotus leaf wrap too 3 orders of shrimp and pork shao mai for a total of 12 - to be honest I was a little disappointed in this. There wasn't much shrimp and I felt like it was missing a tad of seasoning Shrimp Har gow - 4 generously plump shrimp dumplings! My favorite of what we ordered! 2 orders Pork and Napa cabbage potstickers - Would have definitely tasted better fresh as the crispy bottom got a bit soggy from the condensation. Still very good though. This is always a family favorite! For dessert, we went with egg tarts and a sweet taro bun. The egg tarts were flaky with a good amount of egg in the center. The only downside from our experience was that after placing the order pickup online, the pick up time over an hour. Disclaimer, this was from our experience earlier in the year and probably a few months after they first opened. Here's the thing: I would give this place five stars IF they hadn't marketed themselves as a dumpling place. The service is amazing, the restaurant is comfortable , and the entrees that aren't dumplings are phenomenal. I had the spicy crispy tofu and the shrimp and bacon fried rice (a combination that I never would have put together before) and it was divine! But their dumplings taste like they were frozen from a box. They seriously do not hit the spot and lack flavor. We tried the vegetable (vegan) Dim Sum (steamed dumplings with cabbage inside), and three different bao buns- vegetable, taro, red bean paste. All were delicious and unique. We didn't know they come plain with no sauce so we just used soy sauce but I recommend you check out their sauces or ask your server for recommendations.
